My wife and I went here tonight, I was skeptical with some of the reviews. The atmosphere was pretty nice, but not as nice as Wildfire although I believe this place is trying for the same kind of feel as Wildfire. Our waiter was attentive. Now to the food: I can't tell you how incredible the food is here. I had the swordfish and my wife had the shrimp surf and turf. both meals had incredible flavor. The martinis and cosmopolitan we ordered were equally exceptional. I ordered some Cabernet and it was very bold and delicious. I am a believer. I would say Wildfire is still one of my favorite restaurants, but when I am in Naperville, I will be drawn to this place again. They have some real talent in the kitchen. Well done Catch 35! We were a party of 3 for a birthday celebration. Dinner was fabulous. We started sharing yellowfin sashimi and the Blue Hill Bay Mussels. The Mussels were really good. The Thai broth and jalapeño sauce were favorites for all. I could have stopped with this app as my meal. So good we asked to take both sauces home so we could try to replicate. I had the Georges Bank Haddock and it was just right, I would order it again. My husband had the Chilean Sea Bass and my sister the Mahi Mahi. They both enjoyed their dishes. We will be back and I'll probably order the mussels as my main. So good. read more

Just got back from a nice night out with my wife and inlaws. The food was very good and half-priced on Sundays. The only down-side was a dropped bottle of ketchup which splattered onto my shorts. My husband and I had occasion to dine at Catch 35 in Naperville early this evening. We arrived 15 minutes before the Sunday opening of 4PM. We were welcomed to sit at the bar where Jack, the bartender, promptly engaged us in conversation and served up a yummy glass of Smith and Hook Carrenet and a John Daly for my husband. We were shortly seated at a table in the middle of the restaurant with a view of the street, kitchen and display case featuring their fish and meat selections. Our server, Ashley, was friendly, knowledgable and engaging. The support staff was equally professional and prompt in filling the water glasses and bringing out the bread, salad, soup and entrees. I ordered the Alaskan Halibut special and my husband had the Lake Superior Whitefish - both excellent. We treated ourselves to the key lime pie - very nice. The personal service and well prepared menu offerings, in my opinion, makes Catch 35 a good choice when you are looking for an excellent dining experience. read more

My wife and I went here for our anniversary dinner. This was my very first time. I have passed this place a million times but never thought to go because the way it looks from the outside. We went there on a recommendation and we couldn't have been happier. For a seafood place the beer selection was very good and you could actually pair your food with a good beer not just order something for the sake of drinking. The food was great and you can tell that it's fresh and not frozen. I had the surf and turf, calamari, and clam chowder and I ate through being full because it was so good. This place is phenomenal! I took my boyfriend in on a Friday Night when it was packed. We didnt have reservations, but they immediately said we have tables we can clear off, so we waited a few minutes, and were seated within 5 minutes of walking in. We sat at a table in the bar area by the window. We loved it! Our waiter (Tyler) was superb. He made wonderful reccomendations and had us enjoying our first experience in full. To start we both ordered salads and they were amazing. I ordered a fruit filled salad and it has to be the best salad I've ever had :) Everything was fresh. Then I ordered a steak and it was so great. Juicy, flavorful, perfect! My boyfriend loved his Caesar salad and steak as well. We will both be back. Tyler told us he is also a bartender there as well and encouraged us to check it out when he was behind the bar! He also had great suggestions for drinks to try, that we couldnt pass up! We also had free dessert since it was our first time in. The manager came by and thanked us for coming in. Everything was more than exceptional. It is a must if you are ever in Naperville area! Meh. I've had better service and food. We were there for my husbands birthday. Hubby had salmon, I had halibut. Both were served undercooked. The hostess passed our table and saw that we weren't eating. She said, "Do you need your waitress?" "Eww, your fish is not cooked, is it?" Our waitress just walked over and took the plates from us. Our waitress came back with reheated fish. Who likes reheated fish? Really? My halibut had crab on top when I sent it back. It came back to me without crab on top. BOOOO! read more

Went here to celebrate my son's 16th birthday with 3 other teens. We all ordered something different; filet mignon, bass, lobster, crab legs and whitefish. They were all fabulous. The Cesar salad was one of the best I have ever eaten and I have tried Caesar salad at many restaurants. They have the dressing down - it's perfect. Staff who greet and seat you - very nice and professional. Wait staff - efficient and friendly. Would have been nice to recognize the birthday child in some manner as our waiter did know it was a b-day celebration that was the only disappointment. Fish is fresh and tasty and I heard the young man's filet was "perfect." Will definitely go here again with my husband. Worth the cost and if you have to drive, it's worth the trip for tasty fish. read more

I have been dining here for a couple years and had dinner here this past weekend. I've noticed quite a change in my experience. Although the quality of the food may be good, the preperation and consistancy has gone down. My server suggested the Sea Bass as their signature dish and although the fish itself was tasty, the preparation on the plate itself looked just thrown together. Had dinner yesterday at Catch 35. Pro's - price right for the quality of food and service. This is the 4th visit to this resturant for dinner and at all times the food was very good. Con's -- the tables are too close together making it difficult to talk with dinner guests -- with constant hostess and customers brushing by our table and sometime nearly knocking over our glassware -- heard every word ot the conversations at the tables to our right and left. Not a place for a romatic meal nor business dinner. Will not visit again until the resturant makes more room between tables. read more

I ate there before, and thought they were good, but yesterday I had a terrible experience! The waitor was arrogant and my dish, Arctic Char was odviosly microwaved before serving, as the fish and potatoes were so hot, I burned my mouth! When I brought it to the waiters attention, he shrugged me off! I'll never go back again, and I will tell everyone I know what a bad experience I had. Went there with the girlfriend a few weeks ago. Very nice atmosphere, very intimate feeling. Our server was politie and helpful with the menu, as she knew it was our first time - very nice that she asked. The food was excellant and overall it was a great experience. My only complaint was that I had my heart set on the lobster but quickly moved my eyes elsewhere after I saw the $65 price tag - hence the grouper lol... Anyway, it's not really a knock on Catch 35, I just need to make more money. After all, it is seafood (Lobster Tail) in Downtown Naperville - Quite justified. Here for our 34th anniversary, we opened with oysters (great Asianlike salsa) and scallops (3 large ones) with a huge chive potsticker. Really delicious and beautifully presented. Garden salads w/ a basil vinaigrette and shrimp bisque were both excellent. We both opted for the twin lobster tails (came with roasted asparagus and mashed potatoes) Although nothing special was required with the cooking, all were impeccably done. The butter poached lobster tails were tender and succulent. The waitstaff truly worked as a team an we never once had to ask for anything. The restaurant and bathrooms were not only clean, but beautifully decorated. The only thing that will keep us from being more frequent guest is the expense. read more

My husband and I went here on Sunday night for our 1 year wedding anniversary and we are so glad we did! From start to finish, this is the best meal we've had in a long, long time! We made reservations through OpenTable, though at that time (6pm) on a Sunday evening, I doubt we needed them. The atmosphere is upscale but not too stuffy. Our server, Lauren was very sweet and patient while I decided between 3 dishes. She was attentive and helpful. The bread and whipped butter were delicious and replenished immediately. As an appetizer, I had a half dozen oysters. I'm new to oysters and asked our server which I would be best for a first timer. She was able to provide some information on the 4 different varieties they offer. I decided to try all of them and they were delicious! I cannot stop thinking about these oysters. Even my husband (who isn't a shellfish fan) tried one and liked them. Very fresh! For my entrée, I ended up ordering the grilled swordfish which was served atop a fingerling potato and poblano pepper salad with chimmichurri along with a skewer of shrimp. This was SO good! It was spicy and flavorful and I wish I had some right now. Again, when my husband tried my swordfish, I think he finally realized how delicious the seafood world can be! My husband order a bone-in ribeye with green beans and mashed potatoes. He raved about his steak saying it's how steaks in Texas are made. For dessert, we ordered the flourless chocolate cake and the bourbon pecan pie. My husband wouldn't share his cake (which I believe had some hazelnut spread on the inside)- it looked delicious! My pecan pie was served with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream. It's unlike any pecan pie I've had before. It wasn't too sweet, the pecans were still crunchy, and there was a caramel crust. I highly recommend both of these desserts. Oh, and one of the desserts was comped for us! How nice! We can't wait to go back! read more

Went to catch 35 a few months ago. Only went to this location because their Chicago location was amazing. Complete 180 with the location in Naperville. Celebrating a good time with my fiance. The server greeted us politely and asked if we were ready to order. We ordered a jumbo shrimp cocktail as an appetizer, a glass of chardonnay, and a surf and turf for our entree. We did get the drinks quickly which was great. Unfortunately, the server was no where to be found for 20 minutes. I had to get up and catch the server to ask where our appetizers were. He apologized realizing that he had forgot to place the order for our jumbo shrimp. But after waiting a little over 30 minutes, the entree came out, before the shrimp appetizer. I understand they can get busy, but being attentive is equally important. When we did receive the jumbo shrimp, it seemed like normal cocktail shrimp which was completely different from the jumbo black tiger shrimp that was served at the Chicago location. The manager on duty apologized for the bad service and offered a bread pudding. At this point I don't care about free dessert as we had other plans for the evening. When we did finish our entree, it was another wait game for the server to get our free bread pudding and our check. This was one of the worst restaurant experiences I have ever had. The food was decent but the wait and the service was unbearable bad. At that point it was over an hour For a fine dining restaurant, this is pathetic. read more

We went to Catch 35 Naperville for Restaurant Week. The food was very good and fresh, everything tasted delicious. The service was weak. Our waiter was a tad snotty, and was condescending about the wine list. He thawed out after a while though, but it put me off. For the money we spent, I would rather stay in our neighborhood and go to Tin Fish. The food is as good or better, and we always get great service there. BTW I did send my comments to Catch 35, but didn't receive an answer...guess they don't need our business! read more

It was our Anniversary and they were informed of it. No mention when we arrived of it. The halibut was out of stock at 7 pm! The scallops were under cooked, the dinner salad was extremely small. I had sea bass which was under cooked. Nothing special for our Anniversary, and it to 2.5 hours to eat, because of the slow service. I have been an event coordinater for almost 24 years. I arranged a group dinner at this restaurant for a group of 25 for earlier this week. The person responsible at Catch 35, Naperville, for group events is LeAnn Trevino. To say the least, Ms. Trevino should not be in the restaurant business -- period! Her response times and professionalism were the most ridiculous that I have ever had. She was so difficult to work with that I recommended moving the dinner to another Naperville restaurant (Sullivan's) with which I have worked several times in the past and they are excellent but we were unable to move the event as the invitations had been sent out and it would cause too much confusion to try to switch at the last minute (a few days before the event). The most important request/requirement for our group was to have a private dining room as this was a business dinner with presentations. Ms. Trevino, the ridiculous General Manager at Catch 35, when she did respond (her excuses for delayed responses were "I was taking inventory", "it's the holiday season and we are very busy", or for the most time, when I called the restaurant to follow-up with her, she was not there) confirmed to me that they have a private dining room which was very private. I explained to her that we were having presentations at this dinner and it was very important that this room is private which she confirmed it was. It turns out that the private dining room which in Ms. Trevino's opinion is private enough for businesses to have a business dinner with presentations is a part of the restaurant in the back partitioned off by a curtain!!!!!!!!!!!! The noise level in the room was ridiculous and there was absolutely no privacy and therefore our speakers/presenters had to be very careful. The only good thing about the restaurant was that the food was good -- not exceptional -- just good. A couple of our executives had to speak with the manager on the night of the event to request them to move people who were sitting directly outside the curtained off room so that they could have some privacy and the noise level could be reduced. My feedback from the group was very negative about the venue and when I called to speak with Ms. Trevino, she, as always, was not available. She never returned my call and when I called back a few days later and she happened to answer the phone, she was very defensive, offensive, argumentative and threatening. She accused me of making up the complaint stating that that was not the feedback she had received from the group. She named a few of the executives with whom I work directly stating that they had given her very positive feedback which was not true. I truly believe this woman has no business being the general manager of this restaurant as she lacks the professionalism, integrity and manners for such a position. read more

Absolutely the WORST restaurant in the entire Chicago area ! Terrible food, horrible service, extremely rude staff. We went there for my wife's birthday, it was supposed to be a surprise. Instead, they called the house three days before our reservation date and told my wife all about it. This is one of our favorite places in town. We go here for date night, sisters night out, girls night out, etc. The cocktails are fun and my personal favorite is the key lime cocktail - not too sweet and very refreshing. The ahi tuna appetizer is fantastic, and a regular favorite. Great weekday specials, and overall, a really relaxing, quiet, elegant venue. Highly recommend! read more

This place is so disappointingly average that I'm forced to drop the rating to two stars. We've been here twice. Once during restaurant week where we had slow service and decent food. The second visit was last night, and while the service was better the food really failed to impress. I had crab cakes and hubby had a spicy Asian shrimp/noodle dish. We might as well have gone to Big Bowl for what he ordered - it wasn't what you'd expect at a seafood restaurant at all. You'd expect an Asian noodle dish with big, succulent shrimp...this just had little, average shrimp tossed in. There was nothing remarkable about it. My crab cakes were alright.Too much mayo, maybe? I've definitely had better. The plating of the food leaves a lot to be desired. My cakes came with mashed potatoes (I subbed this out for the suggested fried rice) and veggies. The potatoes tasted microwaved and the veggies were super bland. DH's stir fry thing also had some weird veggies in it...the menu described broccoli and while there was some, the most abundant vegetable on the dish was celery. CELERY! On a stir fry. Ew! We don't go out for seafood often but when we do, I really want to be impressed. I'll stick to Shaw's or McCormick and Schmick from now on. read more

I had a really unacceptable visit today (7/2/16). Called to see when the lunch menu ended. Was told 4:00pm. Arrived at 3:45. Waited 5 minutes for the hostess to acknowledge and seat us. She was somewhere out of sight behind the hostess stand on her cell phone. Were given lunch menus. Ordered sangria. Once it arrived we ordered lunch. At 4:03 the server returned to tell us "Chef" had already turned the menu over and we couldn't get what we ordered. When we balked at that she said she would ask "Chef" if we could have lunch. Our bisque appeared before we had an answer so we sent the nice young man who delivered our soup to find our server. She came back and said we could have what we ordered except the chopped salad had already been thrown out for the day. When we asked if we would be receiving lunch prices and portions, she paused and again needed to ask "Chef". Is the chef also the manager? She eventually came back and said we would receive lunch prices but I had to pick a different salad. The bisque, beet salad, buffalo shrimp and tuna poke were good. Not exceptional but good. The lobster roll seriously lacked lobster for $25. In reviewing the menus, the only thing I can see that even had a price/portion difference at dinner was the tuna poke, which she could have told us. I'm thinking she didn't know. The bread was warm but slightly stale. Our water glasses were not once refilled. The restaurant maybe had two other tables occupied. This was not the caliber experience I expected from this restaurant or any other $90 lunch for 2. I will not likely be back. I had high hopes. My expectations were not met. The experience was night and day from the one I had two days earlier at Duck Duck Goat in Chicago. They could learn a few things about service from that or any other restaurant in that group. Customer service was not the priority. 4 stars for food and 1 star for service. read more

My family and I went to Catch 35 for dinner on a Saturday night. We had reservations so we were seated promptly when we arrived. At first, our waitress seemed on top of things, took our drink order right away and gave us a chance to look over the menu. I started with the Martha's Vineyard salad which was pretty decent. Other people at the table had the regular green salad and the fresh mozzarella/tomato salad. Both thought they were good. The entrees were where I became really disappointed. I ordered the shrimp surf and turf and was really surprised at the quality of my food. I felt like the filet medallions were not as tender as they should be and a little fatty. My shrimp was somewhat cold and tasted like something I would have gotten at the local olive garden. I was very disappointed. My family members thought the food was so-so but not worth the price. After receiving our meal, our waitress must have gotten really busy because it took forever to get our desserts (which were also mediocre) and check and the table started getting annoyed. Overall, there has to be better seafood restaurants in the area. This place did not live up to my expectations and I would not return. read more

Went to Catch 35 because my husband got me a gift card at Christmas, it was our anniversary, and they sent an email that it was James Beard Eats week beginning April 21st. Food was fine and service from the wait staff was good. I was extremely disappointed in the management. First, we arrived and were told that they did not have the ingredients, so the specials that were on the website and email would not be available. The meal I had planned on getting. Next, when my husband bought the gift card, he was given a $25 bonus certificate. I did not realize that it expired 6 days before. To my disappointment, the manager would not accept it. I was told to use it next year in January. If the manager had accepted it , I would have returned for another visit to use the remainder of my gift card later this spring. Now, I will not be back till January. Plus, they did not even have the food for a promotion they advertised. Not really a good way to run a business and acquire customers. read more

We chose this restaurant for a birthday dinner. We arrived a bit early and were seated at our table for 8 promptly. The staff were friendly and informed. Service was very slow - long wait for drinks and food. Food average for an average restaurant - not what you would expect for the money. Have been here before, several times and seems to be inconsistent. ANother problem arose when we were interrupted in the middle of dinner by knocks on the door directly behind our table. As we didn't answer the door, the knocks became louder and downright obnoxious. REALLY? Finally, a staff member opened the door and let a large party inside through the door. We did complain to our server who apologized and informed us that the rude people were the owners of the building. The manager offered an apology as well, but in my opinion, this behavior by the owners of the building was completely unacceptable. read more

I've visited this restaurant numerous times, and iit's been good. This evening, however, was very poor. The bus person forgot bread plates and spilled water while pouring it, but never replaced the paper natpkins underneath. He didn't bring bread plates with the bread. Then, while clearing the table after our meal, he spilled mushroom juice on my pants. The server wasn't much better. He didn't clear off an empty drink glass, didn't bring my wine until I reminded him, didn't bring my husband's dessert until my husband asked for it. I ordered coffee and, instead of asking my husband if he wanted it, too, he walked away as my husband tried to tell him he wanted coffee. When he finally retunred and my husband ordered coffee, it took ten mnutes to come, supposedly because more was brewing. It was a very poor performance. There are many restaurants in Naperville; we won't be back to this one. read more
