I enjoyed my dinner here on a spring weekday night. I'm sure it gets very busy during peak beach season. We almost sat outside but it was a little too chilly with the breeze coming off the water. If it's warm enough I would recommend sitting outside with the beautiful view. I had a gin and tonic and the butterfly shrimp but it seems that you can't go wrong with anything off the menu. My friend got the seasonal farmers bowl and it looked refreshing and delicious! The service was great and we enjoyed sitting by the window but the bar area looks like a fun spot to hang out too! If you're staying in north OCMD or Fenwick, this place is a must. One of the nicest vibes - without totally blowing your budget - you will find in the area. The place is right on the bay and if you're lucky enough to score an outside seat, you will not be disappointed. Indoor is also well decorated, clean, and bright. The 2 bar areas fill up fast! You can make a reservation or hope there's room for a walk in. We've done both. Tonight they were able to take our group of 10 right away at 4:30 without a reservation (and we already made another for later this week). Our server Emily was super friendly and handled our large group (including 1 year old) perfectly! All the staff was great and so accommodating - thank you for letting him wave up and down the aisles while waited! The specials change regularly but everything is fresh. Prices are comparable for the area, but really this place is one of our faves and we are here every year. Highly recommend the mussels appetizer and ask for extra bread. Not sure what's in the sauce, but it's addicting and I'd like to bathe in it. read more

For the most part, really enjoyed this dinner. We came here on the Sunday of Labor Day weekend with a large group, so the wait was an hour and 40 minutes long (as we expected). Luckily, Catch 54 allows you to order drinks at the bar and bring them outside while you wait - makes a huge difference! After this, we were finally seated on the outdoor patio upstairs - a very cute area with a nice view of the bay. We started with some drinks (my Moscow Mule was pretty good, but not the strongest), Crab Deviled Eggs (delicious! especially with their house hot sauce), and Truffle parmesan tater tots. The Tater tots are supposed to be a side, but the portion size is massive, so be prepared! They were very good, but I do wish they came with some kind of dipping sauce. We also put in an order for some oysters, which sadly didn't come out until after out entrees - not ideal. For my entree, I got the Red & Gold beet salad, which was good but not amazing (would love it if there was more cheese and candied pecans). My friends liked their food for the most part, but make sure to emphasize any dietary restrictions (we asked for no bacon in one of the dishes, and still found some). I come here every time I come to OC. It's classy and has a really nice atmosphere and cocktails. Love the sardines, crab dip and calamari appetizers. Usually I get whatever fresh fish special looks good and it's always delicious. Last time we were here on easter and they had brunch. It was so good I told them they really need to start doing brunch all the time. Our waitress was super nice and I liked her vibe, she recommended the honey cream cheese pound cake and oh boy was she right, it was one of the best desserts I've ever had in OC, get it! Let me start off by saying that this place does have good food. However, I was definitely left feeling disappointed. We had never been to Fenwick Island but solely ventured from Bethany just to visit this restaurant. Let's start with the positives. This restaurant is in a beautiful location that overlooks the water. The perfect place to see the sunset. The building is beautiful and huge. Our waitress Lauren was really great and full marks to her. She had a lot of tables and still managed to check in on us often. However, they somehow lost our name and after 45 minutes of waiting, and checking in a few times about our wait time, we kept being told each time it would be another 20 minutes. Finally they realized they lost our name and we were seated right away. However, this wasn't without frustration. Then we were led up a spiral staircase which was a bit scary. I will take the lift next time. Then onto the food. They have a separate menu with the fish, drink and dessert specials. I thought the price of the fish dishes was pretty high and I was so disappointed that the carrot cake wasn't on the dessert menu since I read about it in some other reviews. In addition to a couple of drinks, orders at our table included: fish & chips, fried jumbo shrimp and the shrimp & grits without the chorizo. After a very long time, they brought out bread to the table but it wasn't warm. Then after an hour of waiting, our food arrived. The fish & chips were delicious with a very light breading. But the pickles were missing. The coleslaw was just okay. The jumbo shrimp came with 7 fried shrimp and fries. The shrimp was good but they wished it came with a veggie or something else more elevated besides fries and coleslaw. The shrimp & grits dish was not good. First off, it came out cold and I had to send it back. Well then it came back out, it was cold so I had to send it back for a second time. By the time I actually got a hot meal, everyone else in my party had already eaten. Lastly, who thought it was a good idea to put raw celery in this dish?! I think Gordon Ramsey would have taken this up with the head chef if he saw this! The other veggies in the dish were not cooked well and almost raw too. Plus the red sauce was just not good. This is by far the strangest dish I have tasted and nowhere near any shrimp & grits I've ever had. Our waitress did take something off the bill for the cold shrimp & grits but at that point, we were all just annoyed at the whole experience. I really want to love this place but there were too many things that went wrong and it wasn't an enjoyable experience. read more

This restaurant is right on the bay and definitely beautiful waterfront dining. The food was a solid 4 stars. We got the filet mignon, and it was cooked perfectly as ordered. The blackened tuna was fresh, delicious, and cooked perfectly. The seafood gumbo was just too salty-it could have been an accident, because the other dishes were not overly salted at all. The scallops in the gumbo were so salty, it was borderline inedible. The drinks were good, and the wine list had a decent selection. Appetizers were delicious and came out quickly, which was nice. The service here is spotty and disorganized. We were driving down Lighthouse Road and I saw the restaurant, so I called to see if there would be a long wait for walk-ins. I was told it could be up to an hour if we walked in right then. It was early, so we turned into the parking lot anyway. We were seated immediately-no wait. When we were seated, food was brought to our table twice...but we didn't order it. When our food arrived, the staff didn't know which dishes they were bringing out and asked everyone what they ordered and then tried to figure out which dishes they were holding...it was all very confusing and disorganized. Our waitress was very nice and friendly, but the rest of the staff was aloof and just inattentive. I would come here again. It's a beautiful restaurant and the food was decent. Cute waterfront restaurant with tasty beer and food! Yummy lil deviled eggs, shucked oysters, calamari and "hog" ribs. The staff was very friendly and wore masks the entire time. Hand sanitizer is provided at the entrance. We sat in the bar area, and although the seats at the bar itself was closed off, there were a few spaced out tables. However at a certain point, the bar area felt crowded when all the tables were filled. I'd definitely come back when this Covid chaos eases up. read more

Came in for dinner was going to sit at the bar for happy hour but it was full. You should still be able to order from the happy hour menu at least if the bar area has no more seats. The crab cakes were good would have been batter without the filler in them or at least cut out 3/4 of the amount filler used. The grits were excellent but you only get like four bites there grit ground up corn with some cheese and seasoning they don't cost much to make. The coleslaw was good as were the fries the shrimp were good but they need to cook them consistently the same for every order. We had three orders at our table and two of them had very little batter and could have used about 45 more seconds in the fryer and the third one had more breading and was fried very nice. The shrimp are very nice in size they could butterfly them slightly for presentation. The peach old fashion wasn't very good the pineapple martini is good could use a little less sugar would bring out more pineapple flavor. Our server was excellent 08/13/20 Came in for dinner tonight the fried shrimp are excellent this time instead of fries I got the Brussels sprout salad it is excellent in place of the fries a must try!! Had a very nice time with my husband and two young kids tonight. We got the crab dip, gumbo, and stew for my husband and me and the pasta with red sauce and chicken and fries for my kids. I had the pineapple martini and wine, husband had a Negroni and beer. Free bread is served with a sweet soft butter. I really liked the crab dip and gumbo; stew was well-cooked but not much seasoning. Payton was our server - she was very friendly, had good suggestions and was a great server. The most aesthetically pleasing restaurant in Fenwick island with incredible views of the bay and incredibly fresh food. Chilled peel and eat shrimp so good just as good cold as warm and fresh shucked oysters for starters . We than split the salmon BLT , liking the upgrade of the classic BLT , and the "54 burger" with the secret sauce of yum. I really wanted a slice of key lime pie but we were stuffed . Next time.! Watching all the people renting boats and jet skis on the docks , sitting IN the restaurant , it finally felt like it's summer again ! I have missed the summer sunshine and happy times . UPDATE: The day after the experience noted below, I received a call from the manager who kindly apologized, credited our card for the crabcakes and offered to mail me a gift card to return. She also patiently listened to my concerns. We have eaten at Catch 54 many times before and usually have a good experience, so this is an exception. I applaud them for trying to do the right thing. We all have off days but valid feedback is important as well. Horrible experience! After a 50 min wait (promised 30-45), once seated, we had to wait so long for a bottle of wine, our waitress (who was quite nice) felt the need to apologize. At 7:30, my husband and I both ordered the tuna special but were told it was sold out so we both ordered the swordfish special. My husband also ordered the $19 shrimp cocktail and had to peel all the shells off. I ordered the beet salad that was okay, although, I had to dig pretty hard to find any pecans or cheese. I have had more cheese and pecans in a salad at Panera Bread. When our $28 swordfish arrived, it was cut extremely thin, drastically overcooked/dry and tasted horrible so we sent it back. I then ordered the crabcakes. My husband had given up and ordered nothing. We waited so long for the crabcakes that our waitress (again, lovely) dropped off 2 slices of bread to tide us over. When the crabcakes ($36) arrived, they were burnt (as pictured), dried out and again, did not taste good at all. They did comp us our appys and didn't charge for the swordfish but including our drinks at the bar, we spent well over $100 for our worst anniversary dinner ever. Fabulous dinner last night at Catch 54! We ate outside and appreciated that even outdoors, they had guests spaced out and very safe with COVID. Friday is half priced wine night, so we had a bottle of pinot grigio (I forget the name) and a sampling of all 4 kinds of oysters they offered. All were delicious! Then we both had crab cakes for dinner. They had tons of crab meat and were seasoned well. The service was great, too. I would definitely recommend this place! read more

Sometimes you sacrifice quality for a view, but that isn't the case at Catch 54. It was our first time there and definitely won't be our last! The oysters were fresh and delicious, the oysters Chesapeake were amazing. My boyfriend loved the hog wings, and thought the fried chicken was one of the best he's ever had.
