I can't believe this place would get anything under five stars! It was fantastic and I think it's destined to be my new favorite restaurant. It took residence in a former Joe's Crab Shack building and the exterior still has that seafood restaurant vibe, so we were a bit suprised to be greeted by a giant pandabear at the door holding a bamboo steamer of dumplings. More accurately it was an innovative Chinese restaurant and bar with a modern, industrial feel and grest views of the Ohio River. Staff and service persons were exceptional! Everyone made you feel like a VIP guest. Our server knew the menu inside-out and gave us a fantastic survey of the selections and best was to approach ordering. The specialty drinks like the bobas were out-of-the-box creative, colorful, and tasted amazing! The food was not what you would get at your typical Chinese food place. It was a culinary adventure to to the eye and absolutely delicious. The best way to go is to have three or more people all share various appetizers and/or entrees. Portions are very generous and easily enjoyed this way. Fried rices and noodles are not included with the entree and are sold separately, but recognize that they are practically meals unto themselves to which you can add chicken, beef, shrimp or vegetables. We ordered one fried rice and easily shared it among three of us. Do not miss the the classy black SALTY EGG YORK BUNS with edible metallic gold swipes! The name is misleading. There is nothing salty about them. In fact they are sweet and could easily be enjoyed as a dessert. The prices may reflect a higher standard of eating experience, but overall one gets a lot of bang for the buck. read more

Tasty food. Great ambiance. Service needs a lot of work... both FOH and BOH. We went on a Saturday afternoon when it wasn't busy. FOH seemed chaotic and disorganized. Orders are placed on a tablet and from the time my words came out of my mouth to the time the server had to press a button she had forgotten what I said. Kitchen seemed to move very slow for the volume of people in the restaurant at the time. The dumplings stuck to the parchment paper so you have to be extremely careful with the soup dumplings to not lose the soup. Giant glass of wine for a good price. Dumplings were all priced right and everything tasted really good. Service needs work all around otherwise this place won't last. With the type of food they're serving it might be a better business set up to have this as an order at the counter and pick your seat type of place. I guess you pay for being on river however it's not open air to outside seating and bar is very small and far from river views. Only tried an appetizer (crab cheese bread) and it was ok. Server was friendly but obviously not educated on the menu (ie- ordered Sauvignon Blanc and she asked if that was a red, then we asked about the crab dip and she said "all I know is it's a hot bowl with crab and comes with chips") but she tried and service was fast- so that's the only reason this is a two star review. First, we got the crab dip. It was a can of crab, poorly seasoned, topped with shaker style Parm cheese and baked. It was gross, and we love crab. Would have preferred a well seasoned creamy base with just a handful of lump crab pieces to a can of crab. Husband got the steak, asked for medium, it was well done. Horribly seasoned- literally tasted like liquid smoke (what restaurant cooks with liquid smoke???), So bad. He got a side of shrimp on a skewer- they were so overcooked they were chewy. I got the lobster pasta. Lobster was an overcooked shriveled chewy sliver about as big as my husbands shrimp, not my shrimp, my shrimp was different than his shrimp, was also overcooked but not as much as his. Mine was at least edible and was the best thing on my plate. The pasta...let me preface this by saying that I LOVE garlic, use it in about everything I cook, enjoy it in mass quantities...but this... I've never experienced such an over abundance of seasoning in my life. Inedible. First time I've ever left food on my plate and not gotten a go box (I'm not kidding, first time). We did not complain because we had our baby with us and he was getting sleepy and we needed to leave, not that anyone asked how the food was anyways, even with both of our plates more than half full when we got our check. Overall we had a nice experience and we will return. The staff was very kind and our seafood boil was tasty and hot. It's clear the restaurant (newly opened) is struggling with staffing. Several staff people apologetically mentioned this and said everyone was pinch hitting where they could, the manager was in the back cooking because the kitchen was understaffed, etc. At one point the busboy took our drink order. He was great! I loved their spirit and as mentioned, we will return. I hope the staffing gets sorted out. It's such a tough market for finding employees right now. read more

Dinner on our road trip from Atlanta to Detroit. Chose it because tables were available (hour wait at Buckhead Mountain Grill). Very excited to eat Dim Sum for the first time. Very disappointed in service & timing of food delivery (not disappointed in wait staff who did their best). The restaurant is so short staffed they cannot service tables properly. Our server constantly apologized for the poor kitchen service. If you're only ordering wontons or dumplings you're good, but don't add anything else to your order. Everything came out separately and sometimes cold and we were never sure if our entire order was actually being cooked. Bummer. read more

WOW just had the best service by Sherry T!!! This was our 1st time at Enson Harbor. Sherry did an absolutely outstanding job answering all of questions: so professionally and knowledgeable. She understood the menu so very well - it truly helped us, in such a positive and upbeat way (without sounding in lala land) The food was really good too, especially the crab rangoon (best I've ever had) and the Hot & Sour Soup. I ordered the Cajun boil spicy 2, and my boyfriend ordered the Cajun lemon boil spicy 3. Well they switched the spice levels on our food so mine was too spicy for me to eat. Instead of complaining my boyfriend and I switched plates and that's when I noticed the Cajun lemon boil has little to no flavor! Which is disappointing bc it's $20 and comes with one potato and one corn. It's frustrating that restaurants cheap out on the sides and literally give one potato. The sweet tea is gold peak and not good. I was so excited for this place bc Joe's Crab Shack closed. But this place is expensive and just not worth it. read more

When we walked in at 8pm on a Wednesday evening and the restaurant was abandoned. The hostess greeted us with nothing more than a wassup? We were sat immediately as there was only one other table of patrons at the time. We ordered three appetizers the boneless wings, crab cheese bread and onion rings. The onion rings came directly from a bag and had been fried to death in old oil so they had an off putting taste. So the boneless wings were similar and fried to the point my daughter thought they had bones. The crab cheese bread was okay but I wouldn't order it again. We ordered our entrees which suffered from similar fryer oil fate. My daughter ordered the chicken nachos which made stadium food look gourmet in comparison. The nacho cheese sauce was cold, hand cut tortilla chips (cold) and the chicken looked like it was cooked a week ago and warmed up in the microwave with the sour cream on top. When we sent it back the waitress said nothing, no apologies or anything. They removed it from the ticket but the manager never visited us as our waitress had said he would. We were the only table the waitress had an we still had issues with drinks being empty, silverware missing, half the menus were empty and after an hour in the restaurant still hadn't received the water requested. (3 separate times). The food was lackluster and honestly would have preferred Popeyes or LJS. Never again. read more

This place reopened as a dim sum and it is SO good. Soup dumplings were as good as any I've had in Chinatown in NYC. The dry fried green beans were amazing! We could have eaten two orders of them. The snow pea leaf dumplings were great too - the shrimp in them tasted super fresh and was not overcooked. Can't wait to go back and try other stuff. We decided to give Enson Harbor a try on New Year's Eve. We arrived at 6 PM and were able to get a table right away. They had a December special of a 1 lb. of snow crab legs for $12, so my husband had that along with a 1/2 lb. shrimp boil. The boil includes potato and corn. The boil was $11, making his entire meal $23 - a really great deal. He ordered it with the garlic butter, but for him it made the crab legs too wet and hard to hold on to the shells. In the future he would request that on the side. That said, the garlic butter was sooo good. I had the lobster roll for $25. My meal included coleslaw and fries. The lobster roll was good, but seemed a little over priced compared to what my husband's meal cost. Our waitress, Tara, was very nice and efficient. We will ask for her the next time we go back, and we will be back! read more

Went to Enson Harbor for a weekday lunch with a family member. The food was great, the ambiance was great with a nice view of the river, and our server, Katie, was wonderful. This was our first dim sum experience, and Katie explained how dim sum is presented and served, and was very patient while we asked questions. We had cocktails which were delicious but a little expensive....the prices were not listed on the menu. I'd recommend this restaurant for dates, outings with friends or family, and a unique experience. We'll definitely return. read more

My girlfriend and I decided to to try out Enson Harbor again since it has rebranded to Chinese Dim Sum. We split pork dumplings, each an order of general tso chicken and fried rice. My major concern with the menu is that the general tso chicken comes with just the chicken and no side of fried rice so we had to order a complete other meal to get fried rice. Portions were very small compared to other Chinese restaurants in the area but tasted very good. Overall, food was good, service was solid, and it is a tad bit expensive for portion sizes. read more

I want to start out by saying I eat here often and have never had any issues before. My server was great and the owner was very polite. I ordered Shanghai style noodles which I have had many times before, but they had brought out regular lo mein instead. Working in the industry I understand mix ups or mistakes happen sometimes. Another server came over to check on us so I informed him what had happened apologizing because I hate wasting food. (side note none of the wrong food that came out was touched or ate.) since our other main dish had already came out I let him know to just cancel the order instead of remaking the correct item. He then proceeded to tell me the server would have to pay for it if we didn't? Which was a lie. He then tried to tell me that it was the correct noodle and showed me on the receipt. (which it wasn't) he was extremely rude and unprofessional making derogatory remarks as he walked away. He then came back and said he discounted the noodles they messed up and that we still had to pay for it. He claimed to be the GM which he wasn't, I asked the owner and he said they didn't have a GM. The assistant manager lied three times. needless to say I will not be returning. read more

My husband and I went to Enson Harbor last night and we're pretty disappointed. He walks with a cane and is fairly unstable on his feet. The ramp had not been hardly cleared of snow...maybe one pass with a shovel and some salt on that pass. There would have been no way a wheelchair would have been able to go up/down it. There was maybe one other table of guests and 1 person sitting at the bar when we got there at 6 ish (they open at 4). We were greeted right away by the server who was able to explain what they are known for and gave her recommendations. My husband ordered the shrimp special of 1 pound for $12.99 or $15.99 I can't remember ( you could get either shrimp or crab legs). I ordered grouper. We also ordered crab dip as an appetizer. The crab dip was very good. When our server brought our meals, she brought out crab legs instead of shrimp but since my husband had been wavering between it and the shrimp, he didn't say anything. The crab legs had either been cooked and reheated/cooked again or his meal or previously frozen or they were very over cooked or a combo of all three because they were INCREDIBLY hard to peel. The meat came out in stringy shreds instead of clumps like one would expect. It took almost 2 hours for him to eat his meal because they were so hard to peel. We chose the restaurant to experience the seafood and the robots that deliver your food but only saw the robot plugged in. Our meal even though he had the special, and I had Grouper ($21.99), we each had a drink and the app, was over $100. Definitely not worth that price. I don't see how this place is going to survive with this type of food being served. There were only 3 other tables that had come in while we were there. Sad...we had high hopes. read more

Food was great! Got the boil with shrimp, crab legs, scallops, and sausage, added broccoli, Cajun, level 2 spice. Plenty of food for 2. Gumbo was also great. Short rib pasta was good as well if you have a non seafood eater. Drinks were good and reasonably priced. Loved being able to sit on the deck over the river. Definitely would recommend! read more

Alright, so we ordered calamari as an app then 2 Build Your own Boil's. Both were the same, 1/2 pound snow crab legs, lobster tail. Came with 2 small new potatoes, and 2 half corn on cob. Fiancee added 2 boiled eggs. Unfortunately the had an issue with the crab legs being very light on meat in them, not really something they can help, but a def bum rap at market prices. They had no whole lobster avail or I would of liked to try that. The tails we got seemed small also. A bit concerned that their pricing is high end seafood, but service and plating etc is fast dining experience. For the pricing def expect much larger portions, and not everything to be an add on. The 4 stars is because management came and spoke with us, and did everything in their power to make things right. They've def got some kinks to work out. I just don't know if they can hang at these prices that are comparable to the established seafood locations, without the quality to back it up. Time will tell. read more
