Great to see Catch opened, food and service was great only problem with the set up and the doors to the outdoor patio open, it was a hot day and we sat inside because of it and with the doors open, the heat and humidity along with the flies were bothersome while we ate our dinner. read more

Never go here it is horrible. The food is over priced. Nothing is fresh it is all frozen. There face book page states they have a executive chef which they do not. The "cook" came from a truck stop. Always running out of inventory and it is not consistent. read more

I kind of wish we could do separate ratings for food and service. I've been here a few times now and the food and drinks are great. The service? Not so much. The spinach artichoke dip, Bavarian pretzels, the Catch 22 salad...everything has been delicious. The Jalapeno Bloody Mary? Amazing. But trying to get waited on at this place is extremely difficult. Two times our servers have been somewhat rude. The other time, once the server realized the table we were sitting at belonged to her (staff change, I think) she was fantastic. Haven't seen her again since that time, unfortunately, or we would have asked to have been seated in her section. So, we've gone back for the food and haven't expected much out of the service. I recently purchased a Groupon for Catch 22 and took my girlfriend to have dinner this past weekend. To start, we walked in and were immediately greeted by the host and were told that we could sit anywhere we liked. It was Sunday so we decided to sit at one of the bar tables to watch football. Our waitress' name was Sybil and she was polite, dedicated, and always kept our drinks full, which in my mind is one of the most important things. We started with an appetizer, the Firecracker Shrimp, shareable portion and it was FANTASTIC. My girl ended up ordering the Grown-Up Grilled Cheese with Chicken and Sweet Potato Fries, and I had the BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich with homemade Chips. Both sandwiches tasted Phenomenal, and were very generous portions for the meager $9.00 we paid for them. Also the Sweet Potato Fries and homemade chips were very tasty. So we boxed up half of our sandwiches and ordered the Flour-less Chocolate Cake for dessert. It was incredible, it tasted like pure chocolate fudge, I guess that is what the flour-less does to the cake, turns it into thick fudge. In conclusion, my girlfriend and I will definitely be back this weekend to try some of the other things on the menu we did not get to. All in all, Catch 22 is worth the money, even if you do not have a Groupon! Went to the Catch again tonight 9-18 and service was impeccable again, I really think they have their stuff together and weeded out all of the servers and cooks that couldn't hack it. I ordered the Bavarian pretzel sticks this time and they were soft and delicious! For my entree I tried the Steak Sandwich this time and I asked if I could have it medium rare, the server told me they cannot do that typically because the steak is cut into strips, but he was going to see if the chef could do it for me anyway. The chef obliged and to my surprise the steak sandwich came out medium rare and was phenomenal. For my cocktail I had a Johnny Walker on the rocks and it had enough kick in it to give me a little buzz, thanks Catch and keep up the great work! read more

Edited from a "4" on 2/1/2013 to a "1" today: Catch 22 isn't one of those places we go frequently. But enough to see a distinct decline over the years. Today was the worst. We won't be going back until we start seeing cars in the parking lot again. Christmas shopping is in full swing and 30 is bumper-to-bumper. It's noon, so this place should have been packed, but there were only three people in the bar when we got there. No one in the dining area. Our waitress was nice enough, but not terribly efficient. Our food took almost 45 minutes to arrive, and I'm of the opinion we should have just eaten at home. Not a single thing was scratch anymore, and frankly, I don't just open jars at home, why would I want to pay $32.50 for two salads and a child's meal, so someone else could open jars for me. Canned corn on a salad? Don't try to call that a "corn relish". Call it what it is. Canned corn with some canned pimentos on top. Frankly, I've had better salads at Wendy's. Even my daughter's chicken strips were abysmal. If they are going to get frozen, at least spring for good frozen strips and not the worse than Banquet type. So sad, really. We only had a drink here. The drinks were good. Atmosphere was nice. Prices were reasonable. The service was extremely slow!! It took forever to get a drink menu, then for someone to take our order, then to get the drinks, then to get the check, then to have someone come take our payment. I think this restaurant/bar has plenty of potential, but my experience was just so-so. the atmosphere is great (lots of nice open airy space), the menu is well put together with good descriptions of the food and the prices are fair. I very much appreciated the little flip-book on the tables that described the different craft beers they had on tap (I'm big into microbrew!). however, the service on the evening i was there was not very good. The restaurant was not busy, but it took a while for the two people at the hostess stand to find someone to seat me. Took a while to get my drink order (waitress was too busy flirting with people at the bar. I guess I should have just sat at the bar), took about 40 minutes to get my dinner (apparently they ran out of mashed potatoes?) and the food was very salty. I ordered some kind of chicken something that had a mushroom sauce and had mashed potatoes and right-out-of-freezer-bag veggies covered in salt on the side. by the time the bill arrived I just wanted to get out of there. the place has potential, and i think if they pay attention to what exactly they are doing they could succeed. if you are just stopping in for a beer and to watch the game you'll probably have a great experience. But for dinner? i doubt I'll be returning. read more

We went here for the first and last time on 1/28/12. It took 15 minutes to get our first drink. The margarita was flat and tasteless so sent that back . We ordered our meal and watched it being carried around by another waiter from table to table never stopping at ours. We finally got a hold of our waitress and told her what happened, she went and got our food which was now cold. Our salad dressing appeared to have been watered down....watery ranch dressing with no taste. We asked for our bill at 7:20 pm and waited and waited, after 25 minutes asked for a manager this was at 7:45. We get the final bill after waiting 40 minutes for it. Had a good enough experience here. It's clean and friendly, but seems fairly generic for a place that isn't a chain (at least I don't think it is). The first and last time I will go here! Ordered one of their signature crushes, drink was derived with a bug in the glass. Pointed it out to the waitress who took the drink back. She came back shortly with a new drink, after she left, I grabbed the drink glass only to find a bee in bottom on of the glass. I pointed it out to her and she took the drink again. When she came back I inspected the drink, looked good, no problem. She then told me that those were not insects or bugs in the glass but pulp from fruit! Really? I think I know a bee when I see one. Ok moving on, ordered our food. It came out cold, not room temp but cold. A burger that is cold? Ugh. We decide to cut our losses and asked for the check! In spite of the reviews regarding poor service, we decided we'd give this place a shot. Went Sunday night 7pm 2/12, I couldn't tell you about the food because we walked out after our drinks were served. It took the waiter 25 min to get our drinks. When they finally came, the two beers were flat so we could tell they had been sitting at the bar for a while. We also ordered two glasses of red wine, a pinot noir and a zinfandel. He set them down in front of us saying, " I'm not sure which is which." As if that were supposed to be acceptable to us. Also, one of those wine glasses was dirty. He also did not know the specials of the day. We were starving and had a babysitter to get back to so we didn't have the time to sit around Catch 22. The server seemed like a nice guy who was trying hard but didn't have any training whatsoever. It's like they pulled some guy off the street, handed him an apron and notepad and said, "Go!" The food coming to the table next to us looked good. The menu, although limited, seemed to have some attractive items at a fair price, but with service like this, I don't think this place can last. In contrast, we headed over to Caio Bella in Munster after we left Catch 22 - the server and food was AMAZING! The owner was even at the bar greeting us and asking us how everything was at the end of the night. Caio Bella will definitely be our go-to Italian restaurant! read more

Went to try Catch 22 finally. Had pretty good expectations about the place, but was disappointed. If you want someplace to come drink and socialize it looks like a great place. Meals are very disappointing. I got the grilled chicken Caesar salad, the crutons were large sliced up rolls with no flavor and extremely hard. My chicken was cold with no grill marks, like it was cut off a chicken loaf of some kind. The Caesar dressing seemed watered down and had an overpowering vinegar taste. My wife had a shrimp poboy that was made with Dijon mustard, not remoulade like it said on the menu, leaf lettuce not shreadded, and on a soggy regular bun instead of a crispy roll you'd expect a poboy to be on. She also got the grilled corn on the cob that was either a yesterday retread or frozen, also with no grill marks like my chicken. All in all terrible food but looks like a good place to come drink. read more

I have had a few great experiences at Catch 22 in both the dining room and bar. I saw from previous reviews given the great layout and its true. The patio is perfect in the summer and I like that it is for adults so you can enjoy a bar atmosphere while being outside. The buffalo chicken dip is great as well as the breadsticks and beer cheese dip! Will definitely be back and it helps that the servers are on top of their game! read more

As much as I enjoyed being at Catch 22 in Merrillville on Saturday to wish my crossfit brother the very best in Florida I will NEVER step foot in that place again. The waitress came and told me she couldn't take anymore orders because they were swamped in the kitchen with orders and it was piling up so therefore she couldn't take my son and my order. I've never heard such a thing and I told her I'm a paying customer and this was unacceptable and very unprofessional. I told her I needed to eat because I haven't eaten and I have to take my chemo pill. I told her this is not my problem and they are to serve their customers no matter how busy they are. I told her tell your manager to come talk to me so I can give him a piece of my mind and that the media will have a field day knowing this establishment refused to take a cancer patient's order. Of course he never came but the waitress came and told me she could take your order. My son and I will never go there again. read more

We went there w a groupon. Bad impression from the moment we walked in. Two people at hostess booth......took wayyyy to long to be acknoledged. Then once we were seated it again took way to long to be greeted and have out drink orders taken. Food was below average. We will not back. From the you spot the place you see weeds by the highway and it's worse when you get to the front door, no landscaping just mulch scattered all over, cigarette butts and a dirty paint chipped front door. When I took my cheap silverware out of the napkin both the fork and knife were dirty. The hostess and waitress were very rude and the food was salty and bad, so you can add this place to your list of places not to go and waste your money. read more

Two stars only was earned for their drinks and the atmosphere. My first experience of this hometown restaurant, the food had no flavor to it. Service was really bad. Why should a customer wait more than 10 minutes for a server to get another drink? I have experienced to have my own bill split from someones else which I really did not want them to pay for my bill, server turned away rapidly and ignored my request, server needs to listen to what each guest approves not listening to what the other says, that really made me furious. The big disappoint was the food. Your DIY burgers are not monster burgers, the meat had no flavor, very little saute' onions on it and server did not include an ingredient when putting the order in that I noted as she repeated it the order back to me. One and Done,that's all I can say, the food here is not good. I ordered the special Shrimp Tacos, they still had the vein in the shrimp, and were served cold. The refined beans that accompanied the tacos had crust on the top like they were sitting for a while. Ordered the cheese bites as an appetizer, I could tell they were freezer burnt; some pieces were good, some...not so much. The fiance's cheese pizza was disgusting, how can you really go wrong with cheese pizza. Didn't complain just asked for our food to be boxed up and left immediately. It is Mother's Day today. My husband and I decided to try this new restaurant in the area Catch 22. When we arrived we got a table right away because it was not full. We arrived early at 3:40PM. We ordered and it took the waitress 20 minutes just to bring me my artichoke and spinach dip appetizer. It then took her another 15 minutes to bring us our meals. As soon as we ate the waitress was right there to remove our plates. When she came back she had our bill in her hand. I politely asked if I could order desert. I asked to see a desert menu. She then told me what deserts were available. Since she did not bring the menu I asked if you get a nice size piece of cake. She answered yes. It then took her another 15 minutes to bring the cake to us. When we arrived home. We opened the cake box. There was a slice in it a half a inch wide for $6.95. We order from other restaurant all the time in the area. I have never seen a piece of cake that small before. The food was okay but it did not have any seasoning on it. It was a Mother's Day with extremely bad service. I kept looking for the manager but he or she never came around to ask if we are enjoying the service. It was just a bunch of young servers. I would not advise anyone to eat at this restaurant unless you want to waste your money. It won't be there very long. read more

Seriously? This place is a joke! I have been several times and the owner is still the same jerk I remember from Bar Louie! Too make matters worse the food is a 3 on a scale of 1-10 at best! When I order a burger medium rare, I really don't know how you can mess that up but it was WELL done. So waited for another burger 20 minutes later and it was slow I got it my party had all finished their food! It was kind of like really? Went for the first time last night. WILL NEVER GO BACK!!! Almost an hour to get 3 burgers, my burger had onions which I asked to leave off. Sent it back they scraped the onions off and put a new piece of cheese on. Finally after 20 minutes the manager came over comped my burger and tried telling me it was just a crazy night? I was so disappointed with my experience at this place that I had to write this review as soon as I got home. I have never written a review on yelp before but I had to in this case. On the plus side our burgers were good. That's the only reason I' m giving two stars instead of just one. Arrived at. 7:40 p.m. Was seated promptly in a half full dining room. Waitress came to table quickly enough and gave a little over five minutes when we said we weren't ready yet. So far so good. Placed order at 7:50. No appetizer just burgers. She refilled my son's soda shortly after taking our order. Still pretty good. Then....... Our burgers were brought to the table at about 8:25. I know because I was on the phone with my husband and he commented on the extraordinary wait time. Now mind the dining area I was sitting in was barely half full when I was seated and only 2 or 3 other tables were sat while we were waiting for our food. After bringing the food our waitress pretty much forgot we existed. She did stop at the table next to ours approximately 4 times to socialize with the young guy who was sitting there by himself. Not eating I will add. We finished eating around 8:40. Pushed our plates away and waited...... And waited..... And waited. Meanwhile the waitress continued to socialize with the guy from the next table. They both went toward the front near the desk just inside the door where you come in. We were not checked on nor acknowledged until 9 p.m.. I asked for a box and the check which were brought faster than the eye could blink. I placed the money on the table and lo and behold the waitress appeared like a ninja within seconds. Then she took my receipt and I had to wait (imagine that) another 5 minutes to flag her down so I could get a copy. We walked out the door at 9:15 1 hour and 35 minutes after we get there. The last time I ate at Red Lobster on a Saturday I had to wait 40 minutes to be seated the place was completely packed and we ordered appetizers and dessert as well as dinner. We were checked every 5 - 10 minutes and we were there approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes from the time we walked in the door to the time we walked out. I will not be returning to Catch 22 and I will be sure to pass this experience on to friends, family, and the many many clients I see on a daily basis at my job. read more

Just all around horrible! Went here at least 4 times on lunch because it was close to my office. Everytime I went they were out of something. There was never anyone at the front door to greet you or to say goodbye. The wait staff never introduces themselves. The floor is always sticky and disgusting and the food takes FOREVER. Might be OK if you are there to watch a game but definitely not when you are on your lunch hour. I tried to give this place numerous opportunities since I needed something close to the office but seriously you can get better service at Mc Donald's. read more
