We tried a whole spectrum of breakfast options and couldn't decided which one was best, because the French toast and chocolate chip pancakes are literally made to perfection. But as good as the food is, the vibe, cleanliness, and the service are all 6 stars! I don't live in Columbus, but I've found my new favorite spot for my visits! Scotty's review It's not often that we can go to Scotty's since they are only open during the week for breakfast and lunch. He's closed on weekends for his catering business. It just so happened that we were both of work this day so we headed straight for Scotty's! We didn't even have to discuss where we would go! We also invited my mother-in-law to go along. When you first walk in, you are immediately greeted by someone. They have the best customer service! So friendly! Every one that works there! The food, oh the food! I ordered the Schmoozer. My husband ordered it last time and raved about it. It is very lean thinly sliced corned beef, served with 3 large, thick latkas. I asked for mine to be done crispy. You can have them served with apple sauce or sour cream and I chose sour cream. My husband had a full portion of their French toast and added a blueberry compote along with an order of beautiful crispy bacon. My mother-in-law isn't much of a breakfast eater and mainly came for the company. She just had a bagel and hot tea. So my corned beef was so amazing! It's like someone sat at a table in the back and hand trimmed every single itty bitty piece of fat off! I want you to look at my photo and I dare you to find any fat at all! It was sooo good, not too salty, like a lot of corned beef is, but just a high quality. The latkas were nice and crispy as I had requested. They have a nice amount of diced purple onion and a little bit of cheese. They were wonderful! When I ordered, I asked that the corned beef not be put on top of the latkas, as the menu described bc I wanted them to stay crispy. I received my order and my husband said "Oh Honey, you should have ordered eggs with that!" About that time, our server walked by and I asked her if she would keep my corned beef warm and get me 2 over medium eggs. About 5 minutes later one of the other servers brought my eggs and corned beef. It was so much better! I would definitely order this again! However, be aware, it is really a lot of food! I ended up bringing 2 of the latkas home and a little if the corned beef. Oh, and there was an orange slice garnishing my order and even that was perfect! It was so sweet and tasty. One thing they always do at Scotty's is that they always give you some type of dessert. Usually it's a cookie. Today it was a large chocolate chip cookie. Yum! So good! So if you are available Monday thru Friday and looking for a place to go for breakfast or lunch, give this place a try. AMAZING! AMAZING! Atmosphere is so welcoming and the staff are sweet. It's really sad that I even have to mention this but this is the only place my family will never have to worry about their race. The owner and his wife would go table to table conversing and just checking on everyone. I ordered the Jewish omelet and home fries, no complaints! Usually when salmon is cooked in eggs, the eggs it's self can become watery but it was perfect. They also make their bread in house, fluffiest toasted white bread ive ever had! They used challah bread, which makes a significant difference in texture and flavor! It was truly a big breakfast! If you're hungry and want to try a little bit of everything- order it! Working nearby, and wanted to grab lunch. A Yelp search revealed Scotty's Cafe nearby, so headed there. In a mall, so there was a good amount of parking. Very popular for lunch, but we were lucky that a table opened up just before we walked in. Lots of regulars. Knew I was going to have a big dinner (see updated review of Lola & Giuseppe's), so ordered a cup of the daily special beef rigatoni and garden salad. My associate ordered the corned beef with potato latke pancake. The food soon came, and both dishes were delicious- especially my associate's house made corned beef! My beef rigatoni was tasty too, the right amount of spices, meat, and rigatoni noodles. Both owners visited the tables to ask how the meal was. At another table, the husband led a round of Happy Birthday for a regular. We were surprised to be served a complimentary dessert of a small slice of poundcake and strawberry sauce, they do that for most of the meals. Total with tax & tip for two was $24, a good value for what was served. Scotty's Cafe is a great family run institution that makes everyone feel welcomed, with good food and value! I had the wonderful fortune of being able to dine at Scotty's every Wednesday over a 12 week period. I had never been there before but Scotty was generous enough to offer up his restaurant and catering to my church for a program that we were hosting. Now that the program has ended, to say that I will miss Scotty's delicious Wednesday dinners is an understatement! What I love about the food is that it was served buffet style since there were about 40 people. But when I sat down with my plate to dine, I ALWAYS felt like it was a home cooked meal. Something about the food makes you feel like it was made with love, care and serious dedication. From seeing Scotty there on various Wednesdays, I can assure you that he takes great pride in his work. His top priority is to please his customers. I even asked him one of the first nights "What will we do if too many people come and we run out of food?" And he just laughed and said "I have a rule. I never run out of food!" He has a great spirit and jovial personality. The food itself is excellent and every Wednesday it was such a treat to leave work and wonder "what will Scotty have cooked up for us tonight?!" I can assure you I was never disappointed! To delicious soups & sandwiches, BBQ chicken, roasted pork, or classic rigatoni, Scotty has items that everyone will love! Can I also reserve a special call out for the meatballs?! Ugh they are SO GOOD! There were two separate nights where he served them to us and I could have easily eaten only meatballs for dinner. The salads are excellent as well. I love the Italian and ranch dressings that he uses! For dessert, we were typically provided a cookie assortment which I loved. The chocolate chips were my fave. But for the last night, Scotty's daughter made us a beautiful chocolate cake. It was fantastic! (And I don't even like chocolate cake!) Overall I'd say there is a reason why Scotty has so many five star reviews. He is an enthusiastic business owner who puts love and care into his work. It is also a family business that makes you feel like you're part of their family. There's no such thing as a stranger at Scotty's! Scotty thank you so much for hosting us on Wednesday nights. Scotty's is rated as the top diner in Columbus and it's easy to see why. Today was our first visit to the popular Bexley restaurant and won't be our last. Even though it was crowded, we were promptly seated. The service was outstanding (my beverage refilled before the glass was half empty). The owner himself goes around the restaurant to welcome everyone (he's quite a character and almost worth the visit himself). His wife came to our table when she heard it was our first visit and when we said how much we enjoyed ourselves, she said, "oh, wait, I have something special for you." A few minutes later, she brought us a portion of their French toast that was incredible. The food lives up to the ratings you'll read here. Absolutely delicious and at a fair price. The restaurant is located in a strip mall and might not warrant a second look, but it is definitely worth a visit! My momma picked me up at the Columbus airport today. I had asked her to find us a place for lunch on our way home to Findlay. She found Scotty's cafe And thought it'd be something fun and different. We were greeted immediately upon arrival and seated. My mom shared it was our first time in their restaurant. Scotty's wife came to our table and began to share all the specials and descriptions of the amazing food. We decided on Mike's meatloaf and a Reuben sandwich. We also had some of their award winning soup- Tomato Basil- that was the best soup I have ever eaten! Scotty visited our table twice to check in. We were made to feel welcome our entire visit. I would highly recommend this restaurant and wish I lived closer to eat there more often. I also recommend saving room for dessert or getting it to go. The carrot cake was delicious and the cheesecake brownie was scrumptious. Take time to visit this gem in Columbus for home cooking and friendly staff! You will not be disappointed! It's been a long time sense I've been able to leave a 5 star review, but here we are...5 stars. I just went to lunch at Scotty's and I don't have enough good things to say about it. This little (slightly) hidden gem is found just outside of downtown in a small strip mall between a few other greasy spoons. You would totally miss it if you weren't looking for it. As you go through the doors, its clear you get a diner / cafe vibe with the environment. First and foremost, the absolute best part about this place is the service and the staff. All of them were so kind and so attentive. So many other restaurants could learn a thing or to from them. On to the food, I got the cheeseburger, fries, and mac & cheese (it was my bday so I splurged on the carbs) and my partner got the omelette. They are well known for the deli sandwiches (I think) and those looked great as well. The food came out very quickly, but even in the haste it came out, the quality was so good. My burger was seasoned perfectly and put on a homemade bun or at least a bun that they didn't get from Costco or large wholesaler. The mac was cheesy goodness. My partner's omelette was well cooked and filled with veggies. My one and only negative was that the fries were just OK. Nothing special about them. They seem to elevate everything else you get so it would be nice to have a seasoning or something on them, but this was a minor thing compared to the rest of the meal. To top it all off, they gave us a free little dessert at the end. Nothing large, but it was a very nice gesture. Overall, definitely one of the top, if not my top breakfast places in Columbus. A definite must for those looking for a great breakfast/lunch. read more

Upon walking in you seat yourself I assume but I was always greeted by wait staff from afar & asked where did I want to sit. After giving the menu a twice over I decided on the western omelet with white toast . My daughter had the half order of pancakes & a side order scramble egg. The hubby ordered the Jewish omelet (smoke salmon & onions). After everyone finished eating their food (notice I didn't say complete their meal!) They were very satisfied & enjoyed it Lot. The portion sizes are large for most women but just right for a big eater like my husband. We loved our food so much that I had my left overs for a late late dinner & then we returned the next morning for breakfast. The second day I ordered the ham & cheese omelet, half order of pancakes & the hubs the Jewish again. This place still didn't disappoint. We shared the pancakes & I still had left overs. These pancakes are the size of the plates & in a half order you get 2 thick & fluffy ones. The fillings in all the omelets was very full. The manager even came by to say hello and make sure I got everything I need, and she was so friendly it made me feel like she's my best friend's mom that I've known forever. I loved it! This is how a local diner is done. Simple, freshly made eats with great service. And free cookies...so that doesn't hurt! Bryant brought me to Scotty's this morning for a filling pre-flight breakfast. The interior is clean and straightforward with plenty of tables, a few booths and plenty of light. Our server was friendly and helpful and quickly set us up with our beverages and popped in our order. My Schmoozer with an egg (shaved corned beef over potato pancakes) was *enormous* and I could only plow through half before I had to wave my white (napkin) flag. The potato pancakes were thick and crispy, the beef thin and tender. My egg was cooked just right. Wins all around. Next time I'd probably ask for some hot sauce to spice it up a bit. Two homemade butterscotch cookies arrived with our check and our server bagged them up for me to take home (reference the 17 pounds of food in my order). It was by far the best pastrami sandwich I had! It was savory (but not too salty), soft, and just perfect! I ordered a combo of soup (changes daily) and half a sandwich with a side of fries, hot coffee and iced tea (I was thirsty!) and the total bill was $16 and change. I had sausage gumbo and it was really good. It was spicy (but not overwhelming) with chunks of sausage which was perfect for a cold day like today. The place is clean and lively with many customers coming in and out, yet I never felt rushed. Many of the customers seemed like they come to the place often as they chat and laugh with the servers. The restaurant is cozy and clean with friendly and helpful staff and fast service. The manager came by to see if everything was ok and thanked me for coming which is always a huge plus. The restaurant is in the strip mall so you won't have issues with parking. The place offers breakfast (eggs, omelettes, pancakes and do on), too, but I know I will order the pastrami sandwich again! Lastly, they gave me a tiny cup of dessert at the end with a check (see my pic). It didn't look so great but I'm so glad I tried it. I had to rush out because I was running late for my meeting and never got to ask them what it was but it was super delicious! It tasted like peanut butter cheesecake with vanilla custard and a bit of chocolate pudding on top. It was not too sweet and a perfect finish to my yummy lunch.
