I ordered the zaftig . It's just 3 have sandwiches of roast beef one with corned beef and the other turkey with fries. It was good not memorable but good. I'm going to give this place a three (average) for food a five star for service. the owner and his wife are great conversational people. The food it was okay It was nothing that I've never had before is nothing that you're like oh my God I got to go there every day however the service is excellent the owners are excellent the staff is excellent. As you know for me I don't like loud places and it can get pretty loud there Just conversation the owner he talks loud which is okay but I really don't like loud places. So if you're going and you're trying to have a conversation with whoever you're there with even if you're doing a meeting lunch or business lunch it's not going to work because it's going to be too loud. As always is this a place that I would take a friend from out of town probably not one because of the hours too because I probably want to talk to my friend and here is it be pretty loud but it's a place I would suggest people try one because of the owners and service. read more

I decided to search for a ma and pop restaurant in the area. My goal was to get away from the typical base fast food spots. The waitress was very nice treated everyone with respect. I actually was the first person in at 7:15 doors opened at 7:30. Within 8 minutes 10 people arrived it appears that this place will fill up fast. First time at Scotty's, visiting from out of state. The food was fantastic, large portions, EVERY employee we saw stopped at our table at least once to say hi and check if we were happy with our meal/service. The owner goes around to each table and talks to everyone, he had the whole restaurant sing happy birthday to one customer and brought out a birthday cupcake! Then, when he talked to us and found out we were there on our anniversary, he announced that as well and came back with a cupcake with candles for us as well! Great owner, great personality! This is a very cool place that everyone should try. First off, the owner is there, he's very friendly and the family works there too. Scotty walks the floor, talks to the customers, and treats you like a regular even if it's your first time. He and his wife are the definition of personality and it's great personality. So, first great mark was the drinks always stayed full, a big indicator of caring and attentiveness to the customer! Food was great, I had the Ruben, the sauerkraut tasted very fresh, thousand island dressing could have been homemade (not sure but it was great),meat piled high on very, very good bread. The whole experience was awesome and you feel very welcome. These guys know how to run a restaurant and make people want to come back. So, was in the downtown area and was looking for a breakfast lunch place. Up comes Scotty's Cafe and I see that it is a few miles from where we are, but 5 stars? Had to try it. We sampled a few things including the Ruben, French Toast, blintzes and even free dessert the absolute best bread pudding I have had. They need to teach others how to make bread pudding. Watching all the other meals come out you can tell they are all homemade and made with care and love. This place is actually quite far from Plain City where we live, but we are already plotting our return. The French toast was great , the blintzes were as well. However, the Ruben was the show stopper. Absolute perfection. The only thing better than the food was the service. They really are great people and you can tell they enjoy making people happy. Upon review of breakfast/brunch spots to visit on my polar vortex day off work, Scotty's was the first that popped up in the area with 5 stars, so if other yelpers give it 5 thumbs up, it had to be worth a try. The service was wonderful. We had a lady (she may have been an owner but I'm not sure) come and thank us for coming out today in the extreme cold. She was going around and talking to other customers as well and I really appreciated that. Made me feel like they really value their customers. Based on those wonderful yelp reviews, I decided to get the schmoozer, 3 potato latkes topped with hot corn beef (I also added an over medium egg on top per a reviewers suggestion). It was also served with sour cream (but I don't like sour cream so I didn't use it). The latkes needed a sauce of some kind so I used a little ketchup, but eating the corned beef with it was great pairing (the egg was good as well!). The portions are huge so you will certainly not leave hungry. And with such a friendly atmosphere I will certainly be back again! read more

Plenty of breakfast and lunch options, reasonable prices, excellent food (the reuben was great and I've had plenty around town), and 5 star service. For management: the tables were packed a little tight and the service was almost TOO attentive. I think 5 different people were waiting on us making sure everything was okay. My momma picked me up at the Columbus airport today. I had asked her to find us a place for lunch on our way home to Findlay. She found Scotty's cafe And thought it'd be something fun and different. We were greeted immediately upon arrival and seated. My mom shared it was our first time in their restaurant. Scotty's wife came to our table and began to share all the specials and descriptions of the amazing food. We decided on Mike's meatloaf and a Reuben sandwich. We also had some of their award winning soup- Tomato Basil- that was the best soup I have ever eaten! Scotty visited our table twice to check in. We were made to feel welcome our entire visit. I would highly recommend this restaurant and wish I lived closer to eat there more often. I also recommend saving room for dessert or getting it to go. The carrot cake was delicious and the cheesecake brownie was scrumptious. Take time to visit this gem in Columbus for home cooking and friendly staff! You will not be disappointed! After living in the area for 30 plus years and have been reading great reviews decided to try it today. Cute place very clean. I ordered the pancakes and my husband ordered a hot corned beef sandwich . They brought my husband his sandwich - instead of. Corned beef it was roast beef so he sent it back. My pancakes weren't ready yet so it was a good thing that he sent it back. When I am with someone I do prefer both meals to come at the same time. Y husband said that his corned beef was ok - you could see the steam coming from it so it was hot. I k ow that this is just a diner but they could work on their presentation. My pancakes were served on a plate with a small container of syrup. It needed something - butter on top would make it more appealing since you eat with your eyes first. The pancakes were good nice and thick but nothing spectacular. The syrup was very good not sticky sweet. I don't like to drench my pancakes but that teeny container wasn't nearly enough to saturate. Our server never came back to check on us so I couldn't get more so ate mostly dry pancakes. Oh yeah and the deal breaker for my husband was that they don't have coke or Pepsi products only RC Cola or Dr. Brown's. I won't be running back there . read more
