The best catfish, ever. I have been eating this catfish for YEARS and it hasn't changed. Fish, french fries, and tartar sauce are all spicy and full of flavor. This place never disappoints. I can't even eat catfish anywhere else because it just doesn't compare. There is always a wait but we always call ahead. read more

It took exactly 40 minutes at the food truck to get a shrimp po'boy. At one point there was about 20 people waiting for our order and nobody in line to make orders because it was taking so long. When I finally get my son's po'boy, they had given me the spicy one. Extremely disappointing. read more

This place is just an ordinary hole in the wall but let me tell you don't let the look fool you. Their food is so delicious! The people that run the place are super nice. The wait for us was around 10 minutes but that is because everything is cooked fresh. The fish was super spicy and good and so was the shrimp and they give you a ton of fries & lots of peppers and pickles with 2 slices of bread.. The portions are huge so 2 or 3 people could eat off it. We will be coming back. read more

Phone in, to place an order for pickup at 6:50 pm. I was asked if I could hold. 7 minutes later the line was disconnected. I called back immediately, the gentleman told me that they were no longer taking phone orders after 7 pm. I informed the gentleman on the phone I called in before time, was placed on hold, then hung up on. So I called back, he repeated we're not taking phone orders after 7 pm. Result: You won't be taking any orders from me again, I love your food but your customer service needs desperate help! read more

Nowhere near as great as it used to be! I revisited this place I use to frequent when I was a Dallas resident several years ago...when they use to hold the fresh gigantic fish in a tank in the lobby. Now they're just beat up chairs and tables. Should've been my first clue things had changed. I ordered three plates totaling just over $30.00. When they came I noticed it felt a bit light for all I ordered compared to my previous experiences from back in the day. Plates use to be around $6.00 for a small 3 piece steak meal with fries and the usual breading on top....which was enough as to where they really couldn't close the container! Fish was thick, fresh, hot and savory. Now the fish is allot smaller, cut slimmer and more air in the container than fries. Also ordered fillets for my elderly mother that came even smaller than before and the meat was soft and mushy, my guess is probably because it wasn't fresh and more than likely cooked frozen. Keep in mind my era was from around the time the Redbird Mall was the hangout...this place also has turned into The Shopping Dead! We were considering relocating back to Texas when I retire. If that be the case it definitely won't be this area sad to say because it did hold many found memories for me. read more

Glad the food is tasty because the customer service is non-existing. Came to pick up a 'To-Go' order. One customer was ahead of me being serviced. After the customer was given his purchase, the staff person turned his back away from the counter to begin filling condiment cups. While filling these cups, this person was slamming the cups on the countertop. As of this work task was an annoyance. Furthermore, it was observed another staff member in the kitchen seeing me at the counter and did not say anything. Another staff person came from a back room and saw me at the counter. That person did not say anything. Instead, she joined the other staff with the condiment cup task. Next, an older staff person came out a back room to place a beverage in the refrigerator. He saw me standing at the counter and did not say a word. Disturbed by this behavior, I asked the older staff person if they were taking orders(In addition, the phone continuously rung and no one answered it). The older staff responded by saying he is not the assigned person to assist customers. Clearly, none of these individuals have a clue or care about customer service. Where is Gordon Ramsey when you need him. My son was in town and wanted some good fish. My daughter sejected Catfish Connection. Waste of money, the fish was so fat and grease the oil used to cook the fish was old, and the French fries was cooked in the same grease. We could not eat it. Never will go there again. This place probably good back in the day, but not today. My wife introduced me too this hole in the wall joint. We both was disappointed in the waiting time, the overly cooked Catfish, the Greasy Fries, and the week old Crisco that could not fry the Fish correctly. Ok, I'm new to Texas. Catfish Connection was recommended to me because I had a taste for catfish & fried shrimp. On Wednesday November 29, 2017 I decided to drive there to see where it was because it was getting late close to 8pm. I figured if they are open I'll go in. They close at 8pm, I got there at 7:55pm. I figured I should call even though I'm right outside the place, but the chairs was on the tables indicating closing time. I wanted to see if they would take one last order. A young lady answered and without hesitation says " Thank you for calling Catfish Connection, we're closed". CLICK. Now, I'm not upset with them not taking a last minute order, I get that. But seriously really? Option A: Use a recording when you are closed. Option B: Don't answer when you are closed. Option C: Enroll your staff in a customer service course. I haven't had a chance to step in the door to even try the food before I was turned off. Never been, won't be going..too many places that sell the same things with a more pleasant staff. read more

The only reason I cannot give it a higher rating is because the wait on Friday nights is Horrible!!! They do not take call in orders and take your money telling you it will be a 20-30 min wait. I ordered a shrimp poboy from the food truck on 3/12/2015, it was at Klyde Warren park. I have no idea what made me order because it had that bad fish smell but I did. The sandwich tasted like that bad fish smell. I took one bite and threw it in the trash. Not to mention they didn't have a line and it took forever. One shrimp was almost burnt, the others looked under fried. Around 2am I awoke with a sour tummy and you can picture what happened next. Most disgusting thing ever. read more

This place was THE BEST corn mealed fried catfish in Dallas that I remember. I'd definitely go with the catfish steaks, instead of fillets - the flavor with the bones makes it taste better. The catfish steaks taste so good (well-seasoned), you can skip the tartar sauce, because the tartar sauce just gets in the way of the great taste of the steak cut catfish. The old owner used to really stuff a lot of catfish steaks in the styrofoam containers. It seemed he'd stuff as much as he could in there. And the fries were self cut and delicious. But it's oh so sad that the original owner has retired, and now it seems to be under new management. New management seems to have kept the same recipes, but now I notice that they don't seem to give me as much fish as they used to for the same amount of money I used to give them. Old management used to give me quite a lot for my money and really try to stuff the box. Well, new management doesn't seem to attempt to give me as much anymore and not try to stuff the box. That used to be the thrill of this place, as they'd seem to be attempting to give you quite a lot for your money. But that is not so now. They don't seem to give as much fish for my money as they used to under old management, which is a let down. If this was old management, I'd give them 5 stars without hesitation, that old manager was great. But the newer management, since they don't give me as much fish as they used to, I'm gonna have to take away a star. I sure wish things would go back to what they were with old management.
