The booth seat had wore out spots bigger than my backside...The hush puppies were hot and best part of the meal. The catfish filets were very thin are greatly over cooked. Fishy tasting fish under cooked fish, slow service. Wow! Okay, 100 wows! I was looking to stop in Alma a couple of times, and I've even thought about living here. I'm surprised that a town so small can offer so much. So, I was going to one of the pizza places--there are 4 of those. I'm really picky about pizza and I didn't want to be disappointed, plus when I saw catfish, I had to go here. I used to go to The Catfish Place in Apopka, Florida and almost always got something amazing. Being in Arkansas near so many lakes and rivers, I figured it had to be 100 times as good. I don't know how fresh everything is--I'm better at knowing ocean fish--but everything was good. I ordered the 3 piece Catfish filet dinner that comes with fries, cole slaw, and hush puppies. The waitress brought the hush puppies even before the drink, along with a dill pickle spear. I also ordered a sweet tea--it is the south, after all. After eating the fish, I was thinking about shrimp/prawns, as in shrimp cocktail. Call me a glutton, but I don't have sit-down meals often. The breading on the catfish was a bit salty but really good. So, the waitress made my order into a combo meal (talk about flexibility!) and that came with another piece of fish and cold, boiled shrimp. I think the price changed from $9.99 to $15.99, and then, the iced tea on top of that. I feel like I over ate, but it was good. I even liked the hush puppies and I never like hush puppies because they usually taste like the shoes of the same name. I had a lot of fun peeling the shrimp and I'm surprised someone across from me didn't have one fall into their food. They're lively little devils--the shrimp, not the people. I remember the motel desk clerk telling me how this restaurant had become less good, as it had changed owners twice. I can only imagine how great it was then because it was good for me in 2013. Best hush puppies in Arkansas and the surrounding states! The catfish tastes so good, makes you wanna rub your feet together. You city stickers let that marinate for a minute. Very disappointed. I've always heard about Catfish Hole and we took our family to the Alma location. The food OK, better than an average catfish place. However, our service was really bad. From 5+ minutes before receiving our food, to the time we walked out the door, we literally never had a server come by our table. Every drink was empty, we had to grab sauces off of an empty table, and we even had to get up and ask a bus boy to get cocktail sauce for our shrimp. I would never leave a post like this without taking it to the restaurant first. When we were asked "how was everything" by an older lady that was ringing up, I mentioned the lack of service but took the time to brag on the young man that actually helped. Half my group ordered the regular catfish and I ordered the bone in, it was by far the best I've had. So juicy and thick , they cut the fish into 4 pieces and the bones were very minimal and easy to remove. The others in my group that preferred the regular style boneless fried filets thought it was good but definitely more dry & crunchy. The waitress was very attentive & brought us unlimited free hush puppies, they were fresh, fluffy and slightly sweet, hard to resist eating waaaaay too many. I may need to get help. They have the world's best hush puppies and catfish, if for some reason you dont like catfish they also have chicken tenders that are also pretty good! But I'm more of a catfish person so... Excellent catfish filets. Do try the hush puppies, you'll never find another like it. We ordered the smaller portions of both, which were plenty for a dinner meal. The fries could have been better, but we would have gone to McDonald's if we just wanted crispy French fries. What can I say, this place is probably one of the best fried fish places in the river valley area. Went on a Saturday, at lunch time. We were seated pretty fast and a server was right there to assist us pretty fast. We got our drinks and order our food. I got the mix combo of catfish and shrimp, it was so good. The fish is fried to perfection and the shrimp was delicious as well. The hush puppies were sooo good, they somehow used a different batter then the normal and they have a more pancake taste to them. But they are soooo good and so is the coleslaw. Quite content with our meals and it's a place that I highly recommend. They do have crab legs as well, we will try them next time. read more

We went there to eat and waited to be seated forever, we finally seated ourselves. Then the assistant manager jumped all over my wife for seating ourselves because nobody greeted us or seated us. Food is always good but beware of the service. They employ some of the rudest people here. We started getting food to go because the dining room was closed due to the pandemic. The last time we went we were treated so poorly by the lady working the drive thru that we contacted the office. Where do I start? The building is very nice and extremely clean! We were greeted by smiling faces and taken to our booth. Server was quick to take our order. The FOOD: while waiting for your order, they bring you Cole slaw, hush puppies, and green tomato relish. The slaw was good, but the hush puppies were the best I've ever had. Light and fluffy with a hint of sweetness. The green tomato relish was like my grandmother made-delish! We way over ordered, with each of us ordering a two fish combination plate with baked potatoes. Portions were huge! The clams were great as was the shrimp and the catfish was the best we'd ever had. We really should have split an order as it was way too much food. While we were stuffed we had to at least try the coconut fried pie. Again-the best we've ever had! We travel through here two or three times a year on our way to Birmingham from OKC. Our server took our drink order and brought out the "fixings" then after taking our food orders, he told us he was going on break and one of his counterparts would take care of us. I could almost cry thinking of how good/amazing/incredible/beautiful the hushpuppies are at this place. If I could afford it and my health could afford it, I would eat here multiple days in a row. I kid you not, I probably eat 15-20 hushpuppies when I eat here (they are unlimited). Also, I DON'T LIKE CATFISH or any other fish for that matter but this is still one of my favorite restaurants because of the incredible Hawaiian chicken they offer. I always get it with fruit and green beans in an attempt to offset the 20 hushpuppies I eat. And oh my gosh the service is incredible too. My glass is never empty when I go and the hushpuppy bowl rarely reaches empty--and that's really saying something because I DEVOUR the hushpuppies. My husband loves the catfish that he has had there but did not like the shrimp when he tried it so I guess that's my only negative. I tried the steak once and it was also amazing.
