Once I arrived at this destination's parking lot, I was captivated by the contemporary looking building that is unlike any other building around it. As I stepped inside, I instantly noticed the modern and sleek decor. This place looks brand new. I tried the Cajun Catfish that was recommended by one of the nice waitresses and it was really good! But before I left I had to try their yummy fried pies! I ordered the fried coconut pie and ice cream and it's one of the best pies I've tasted. It was served to me warm, so it went really well with the ice cream. Since the pie was rather small (according to their standards), they gave me the ice cream to me free of charge! The waitresses are constantly walking around checking on the tables and refilling drinks without asking, which is really great. This review may be biased but so what?! Catfish comes with fries (all of which is served "family-style" meaning it is on one plate and you serve yourself). Prices are reasonable, and portions are 3,5 , or unlimited. Went there with family and everyone was pleased with the selection. We had fried pickles as an appetizer. One order could easily feed a family of four. My mother ordered the catfish and LOVED the it. The seasoning was very nicely done. I had the cajun spiced trout. It was very nicely cooked and not too spicy. We all enjoyed our meals. The service was great too. Drinks were kept full and food was brought out quickly and hot. Everyone was very friendly too. We took home strawberry hand pies for dessert as we were all too full to eat them there. The last 3-4 times that my family have gone here, we have been disappointed. The fish EVERY time is like deep fried cardboard. Its nothing but batter, no meat inside. They cook it to death. When you ask to cook it not so long, they get offended and say "It's a health hazard to not cook it long". The hush puppies are about the only good thing. The bus-boy had a smart mouth on him and acted like he hated life and owned the restaurant. The service was awful each time and the tea was WAYYY too sweet. Hands down the best hush puppies you will find anywhere. We go the The Catfish Hole on average 2-3 times a year. The staff is amazing & you get plenty of 'fixins.' (Hush puppies, cole slaw & green tomato relish) I would say the catfish it pretty good, but I've had better. I don't usually order the catfish. The way they cook the fries is not my preference, I always find them a little too greasy & soggy. Everything else I've had there is good. I particularly like the clams, scallops & Hawaiian chicken. But if you've never been, you at least need to go by or call in & pick up an order of the hush puppies. They are really the best. read more

Went last night wait was long! Fish was small and cool. Waitress put a 15% automatic tip on. I complained and they refused to remove it. The little busboy who thought he ran the place said they have been burned to many times by groups so that's why they add it! Then he said besides the baby ate for free! REALLY? They were all delicious, but especially the green tomatoes and the hush puppies. We ordered catfish and chicken (both fried). I personally preferred the catfish. I would definitely recommend the relish dip they have. It was amazing! The fries were just okay, but the real highlights were the catfish, relish, and hush puppies. The servers were so friendly and service was good. I really liked that they have a fried and a non-fried menu, even though I didn't get a chance to try anything from the non-fried. It is what it is. A very cool looking building in the middle of nowhere. Hush puppies were good but didn't live up to the hype of the reviews. The catfish filets were very good - again, for what it was, a fried catfish filet. The food was brought out quickly - made me kind of wonder how long it had been sitting there but it was hot and fried, well, fried well is really all that can be said. Coleslaw was t crispy and had way too much mayo. Restrooms were not as clean as they should be. Waitress was just ok...and another waitress provided a very loud running monologue with another patron she knew, which we found hilarious, but might have been grating if we were tired and didn't want to be forced to eavesdrop. DO NOT GET THE ALL YOU CAN EAT!!!! We went out with a group of our family members. I ordered the all you can eat shrimp and scallops (for $30!!!). The first plate comes out with 10 scallops and a ramekin of shrimp about 5-6. As she drops off the plate I say please put me in some more shrimp. 15-20min later they bring me one more ramekin of 5-6 shrimp. Now during this first 20 min wait as I sit there with no plate in front of me the waitress had come back multiple times and I asked where the next round is to which she would assure me she put in the order. When that round finally came I ask the lady please bring more than 5 shrimp on the next round. After another long wait my family around me starts to finish and have to leave. This happens again till the whole party is gone except me and the wife and kids as they sit and wait for me. To make things even better, as I'm paying my check I say to the cashier I think I got had because they wouldn't bring me refills out to which she asks did you tell your waitress and I say yes I did and she says"yeah, guess you got had" with a smirk as she rings me up for my $60 tab. read more

My hubby and ate here while back in the area visiting family. Our waitress was very attentive even though she was serving every table in the place. She was always nice and very on top of things. You get unlimited hush puppies (that were perfectly hot and tasty) and coleslaw. My hubby had the fried catfish that he says is the best you can get besides when you catch and cook it yourself. ;) I had the stuffed shrimp which was really tasty but the shrimp was slightly tough. The green beans were limp and slimy but the baked potato was fluffy and hot. It was a good meal but just those couple of issues made me give a 4 star. We usually go here during lunch and order either the fried catfish or fried shrimp. Lunch hours aren't bad and the food comes out hot and crsipy. The most recent time we went was during dinner hours and the place was very busy! Unfortunately the fried foods came out very soggy and food was not completely cold but not exactly very warm either. Not a bad place and our experience that night won't stop us from going again. Lunch hours are the best time to go. read more
