I came here on a Saturday night. Made sure to make reservations since it's known for being a bustling restaurant. We were in our seats within minutes and right away noticed the grand decor above. It was really beautiful. We started with the Leeks Vinaigrette. I never knew that leeks could be cooked to be so tender. Mixed with the walnut vinaigrette, they tasted so good. If I could make leeks like these at home, I'd be eating healthy all the time! We then ordered the King Prawns a la Plancha which were amazing. They were cooked perfectly and the flavors of the Calabrian chili butter and Amalfi lemon paired exquisitely with the shrimp. Honestly, I could have eaten a whole plate of them for dinner and been perfectly happy. For entree, we shared the Lamb Chops and also ordered a side of Garnet Sweet Potato. The lamb chops were good, but I loved the sweet potato. I don't remember the topping and sauce used to make them, but this side dish was incredible. We had the Chocolate Soufflé and the Honey Crisp Apple Beignets for dessert. I think I licked clean every inch of the plate that the soufflé was served in. It was sinfully delicious! We also ordered a couple of drinks, but the Sgrappino was my favorite. It's made table-side by mixing lemon sorbet, Elyx Vodka and Blanc De Blancs. It was so good that we had to order another one as soon as we finished the first. If you like sweet drinks, you will love this! We came here for Mother's Day and experienced their special prix fixe meal set, which offered a solid, multi-course journey through their menu. We had a reservation but did have to wait a bit to be seated. There was a table in the restaurant but it seemed like there would be too much foot traffic, so we decided to sit at the bar, closest to the dining area. The bar is huge and near reception were a bunch of people just standing around waiting for tables, which is why we'd chosen to sit closer to the restaurant. However, people still started hovering around behind us, so I'd choose a better seating option next time. Although it has a romantic atmosphere, the noise level was quite high. So if you're looking for a nice, quiet dinner, this probably wouldn't be the place. It has a great vibe and is very lively, though. And this is the place for warm, fresh bread and the best filet mignon. The breadsticks were fine, but the mini bread loaf with butter was absolutely amazing. I'm not sure if I'd order the oysters again, but the salmon dish was also delicious. (Faroe Island Salmon with panchetta, savoy cabbage, tarbaia beans and vin jaune) My favorite, besides the bread, was the Filet Mignon with au poivre "Paul Bert" Paris mushroom duxelle. For starters we ordered Yellowfin Tuna Cru which was extremely fresh and tasty. I had Cathédrale on my list for years, and I had been in the vicinity several times in that time span, but I never made a point to stop in. While looking through my list for a spot on short notice, the name popped up and I made a reservation on one of my nights off. I figured the restaurant's longevity was a good indicator that it still merited a visit. When I arrived the place was pretty busy. As a result, my table wasn't quite ready. So I grabbed a drink at the bar, the "Saint-Tropez" (Hennessey VS, Lime, Melon, Mint, Ginger Beer). Normally I'm not a "Hennessey-Type-Guy" but I was feeling vacation vibes, so I rolled with it and it tasted great. I was solo dining and there was plenty of bar seating, but I elected to take a small table to myself. The two-person tables are a little close to each other (close enough to hear full conversations), but I was surrounded by pleasant NYers and travelers/tourists. I went in dressed up for the experience, and the staff looked sharp too, but don't be surprised to see touristy looking guests in casual attire on your visit. Anyways, once I got to the table and had a moment to take a good look around, I felt that the expansiveness you feel in the pictures didn't exactly translate to the in-person feel. Though it didn't feel cavernous, the decor and atmosphere were still pleasant. If you're seated at the tables near the entry point to the dining room, you will have the bar/vestibule area to your back, without a full barrier. Some people might feel a little apprehensive about sitting there because of it. So keep that in mind if you're security conscious. Regarding the food, I started with the potato chip omelette (Egg omelette, with white sturgeon caviar and chips). I was honestly hoping for some flavor, other than the ordinary, in the egg omelette, but it tasted like a regular solid omelette you make at home with a little salt. However, the chips, caviar, and crème fraîche, combined with some egg did taste good. It's a little heavy as a starter on a solo trip, but if your party is two or more, it might still make sense. That was followed up by their filet mignon with a side of sautèed spinach. This was the star of the meal! Great flavor in the crust of the meat, was well as in the sauce. I recommend it! In fact, it was ordered by patrons on either side of me as well. So there might be something to it! While I was enjoying the filet mignon, I ordered a glass of the Bordeaux Blend on the menu. Unfortunately, they were out. That Cabernet blend was a solid substitute though, and the sommelier came to me directly to discuss the substitution options (which was greatly appreciated). For dessert I can't remember the exact name of the dish, but it was essentially cake with strawberries on the side. I know that sounds simple, but it was very good and coincidentally, a great choice for me because I love strawberries among other things. I paired dessert with one last drink, the "Sgroppino," which, as promised, was prepared table-side. The guests at my neighboring tables and I were captivated by the show. The gentleman preparing the drink was actually Greek and we had a nice side convo about the origin of my name, a foundation for a good memory of the restaurant. The drink itself, made with Sorento lemon sorbet, Absolut Elyx vodka and Blanc De Blancs, was cool and refreshing, perfect for summer! I strongly recommend that as well. All in all, it was a solid dining experience. There weren't any grave or egregious errors and therefore nothing that would make me detract a star from my review. I think the place is worth the trip and currently they have a three-course, Pris-Fixe, menu deal for $60.oo. If you use the Tao Group app, you can potentially score another 25% off of your bill as well. So there are PLENTY of reasons to make a stop in. Special shout out to my dining team, which included Nicola, Natalie, Faith and Constantine. They were kind and warm throughout the dinner service. Came to celebrate a birthday and it happened to be restaurant week menu. Two of us wanted it and two of us didn't. Unfortunately every member of the party has to participate so we went with it. $60 menu. Since we were in 4 we tried almost everything. There were 4 appetizers so we tried them all, and 4 desserts so we also tried all of those. I'll mention entrees after. First the appetizers. Absolutely... pathetic. One of them came a tier of salami, carrot slaw, and radishes with a curl of butter on top. So strange. The second was an artichoke salad that I didn't care for and be careful eating it because I cut my mouth from an outer piece being in it. The third was like a puff pastry with cheese inside that was eh and the last was a spinach with egg whites, egg yolks and beets all separate in the plate. personally, I didn't care for any of them. Entrees: I got basically a fancy fish and chips. The fish was sole and rhetorical fries were good. The beef bourguignon was good and the duck was good as well. Dessert: the pear one was good, I didn't love chocolate and cherry one but that's personal preference, the rice pudding was ok, and the Mille-feuille I didn't like. We made this reservation about a week prior, noting it was for my birthday dinner for 3 at 8:15pm. When you arrive, especially on a weekend evening, expect loud music and lively conversations. We arrived at 8:10ish and the hostess asked us to wait at the bar and order drinks until my father arrived. When he did, they let us know there would be a bit of a delay, so we enjoyed a cocktail at the bar. My partner had a glass of red wine, which was tasty, and I had a Bombay martini with blue cheese stuffed olives. It was fantastic, however, it was a little annoying you have to close out there. We ended up waiting over 45 minutes for our table to be ready. At one point, a hostess brought us all glasses of complimentary champagne to apologize for the wait, which was nice, but I did feel didn't fully make up for how long we had to wait to be seated, especially because this made me extremely late to an event I was attending afterwards. We ordered a fantastic bottle of red wine, and my partner also had the Barcelonette cocktail, which was so refreshing. Once seated, our waiter was fantastic. We ordered the grilled octopus as an appetizer, which was incredible and so flavorful, but we were disappointed there weren't many pieces in this dish. The veal porterhouse was delicious with tableside au jus service. The meat was tender and perfectly cooked. The truffle flavor was wonderful as well. We also had a side of sautéed spinach, which was nice. For dessert, I enjoyed a glass of dessert wine and they brought out a cute little ice cream birthday cake. I've heard some mixed reviews about this place but decided to try it out to celebrate a birthday. The restaurant is located on the bottom of the steps and you're treated by the hostess. The hostesses were very nice and led us to our table. We got seated and right away our waitress came asking which water we wanted, which was nice but also felt a bit too rushed. I also went to the bathroom before ordering and the manager was nice enough to lead me to the bathroom which is located to the left of the hostess. I got back and the waitress already came up and asked the table if the wanted drinks, even though I wasn't at the table which seemed a bit rude but not that important. We ordered the wagyu steak tartare, burrata, and truffle fettuccine. They brought out completely bread sticks which olives which was rlly good. The olives had a nice savory, briny taste, which I really enjoyed. Then the tartare came out almost immediately and it was pretty good. It was severed with potatoes chips on top and chopped olives. The combination was unexpected but thoroughly enjoyable. The meat was pretty good and the chips really helped balance it out. After about two bites, the burrata was served and it came with these bread balls and peppers. The burrata was nice and fresh and the peppers were nicely charred and roasted. They also brought the complimentary bread after all the appetizers were out, which seemed a bit strange. Then onto the man which was the truffle fettuccine. This was the highlight of the night. The noodles were buttery and truffly. It literally melts in your mouth. You have to try this if you come, even if you're not a big pasta fan it is definitely worth it. For dessert we got the apple beignets which were nicely fried and the apple filling was nice but some either didn't have filling or had barely anything. They also brought a complimentary dessert since we were celebrating a birthday. The ambiance is nice but I imagined it differently and grander. We had a generally good experience at Cathedrale's Easter brunch. Let's start at the top... The desserts were amazing. I love French desserts which are a lot less sweet than typical American desserts, and the dessert table display was magnificent. Kudos to the team behind it! The crudités table was also impressive and the server who helped me get the veggies was very friendly and helpful. The main course took a long time, but it's understandable as it's a holiday. The food was good. The service by our waiter was just okay, but we had to ask a few times for plates to be removed and cutlery to be given for the next course. The booking system was confusing, as there wasn't any option to indicate adults and kids. This is important when you're prepaying per head, which is the case for Easter brunch. I made my second visit to Cathedrale about two weeks ago, and I'm pleased to say they did not disappoint. Cathedrale provides a very opulent vibe, yet affordable for the experience. We started our night at the bar, the standard order of things, where we ordered the San Simon and the Passion Spritz. Once our table was ready, we were escorted by one of the hosts to our table in the main dining room. PLEASE NOTE the main dining room is the best spot in the restaurant for photos and more opulent vibes. For pre-starters, the restaurant served us complimentary bread sticks with olives along with freshly baked bread with whipped butter - which came later. Since it's restaurant week, I chose the pre-fixed menu. I can't remember the full order, but the appetizer I chose was oysters, and my main was a well seasoned fish in red wine sauce. My best friend ordered salad verte, with the branzino as a main. We ordered the rice and peas to share. The serving size for the rice and peas was a bit scarce in comparison to my first visit, so I made note of it to my waiter. She raised the concern with the kitchen and they provided us with the proper serving size (which I LOVED). For dessert, the restaurant treated my best friend with a complimentary cake and I ordered something from the pre-fixe (wish I remembered). Our first server Nicola (i think that's her name ) was amazing. She was hospitable, attentive, and had great knowledge of the menu. Cathedrale is a 10/10 spot - a def must go. read more

Highly recommend! I came here with my sister for Summer Restaurant Week. It was her birthday, and we made a note of that in the reservation. Upon arrival, everyone made sure to wish her a happy birthday (she wasn't wearing birthday attire , but because it was on the reservation, they took note). We had an early weekday reservation and the restaurant wasn't crowded when we arrived, although it got busier later on. Service was impeccable- everyone was nice, the plates were cleared in a timely manner and even the table was wiped down between courses. The food was delicious and good portions for Restaurant Week. They even included little birthday dessert. I would definitely cone back here- great experience! read more

Went again for a second time, and I will have to say my boy Alberto the bartender took care of me one more time. He was very pleasant on point the service the full the ambience I love going there. I tried different dishes this time drinks as well. Everything was perfect. It's a must try. Hands down One f the best restaurants and food in the city! My husband and I ordered the branzino, rigatoni pasta with squid ink and lobster, and a side dish of sautéed mushrooms. Cathédrale is quickly becoming one of my favorite happy hour spots in New York. The martinis are great and the happy hour bites never miss. I had the mushroom toast without cheese and it was so flavorful. You could really taste the truffle and the toast was perfectly crispy. The lobster rolls are my go to and always hit. The potato croquettes were creamy and the truffle fries with lemon aioli were amazing. I could eat that aioli on everything. If you sit at the bar or in the lounge, you order at the bar, but they bring everything to your table. Solid food, great drinks, good vibe. read more
