Cattle 'n Clover is a 5 year old Irish pub in the heart of Wildwood. The owner is doing a great job of revitalizing the neighborhood with this restaurant. The inside is expansive with a large bar, antiques, plenty of TV's and pool tables. The staff is "top notch," going out of their way to make your dining experience memorable. The menu features traditional Irish fare, bar food, and steakhouse selections. In addition they have a great beer menu and offer samples to pick the best to suit your palate. I was hooked on the black cherry cider from Seneca NY! We went with short rib Mac and cheese, Cobb salad, buffalo meatball bites, and finished off with a boardwalk "favorite," fried Oreos. The Mac and Cheese with braised short rib was unique and quite delicious. The Cobb salad was predictable but a solid choice. And who could go wrong with fried Oreos! The buffalo meatballs were the only item we were a bit disappointed in due in part to the gristle found in the meat. Our waiter Ja was quite apologetic and went above and beyond our expectations. This past weekend I had dinner in the evening at C&C and as one of my friends put it, it was by far one of the worst meals I ever had. Although our waitress was nice and tried her best to be accommodating, there was nothing she could do to compensate for the terrible food. I ordered the chicken fingers and fries...usually a safe bet at a new restaurant, but the fries were cold and hard and the chicken was fried so hard it was difficult to chew. I am not a picky eater and I can enjoy most food even if it isn't exactly what I expected, but this was an exception. I don't know if this food was a result of tit being later in the evening but as a former member of the food service industry I was surprised that our plates even made it out of the kitchen. Terrible place ! The place was 60 percent full when we were there. The food took an hour and 20 min to come out. Appetizers and main course came out at the same time. Kitchen messed up the order big time. The food looks good but tastes awful. Avoid the burgers at all costs. All in all the food is over cooked, flavorless and sub par. I was really impressed with this place, I really liked the feel of it and the attire of the staff was really fun. I went for an early dinner with family, but you can just tell that the place is really fun in the later evening. I really love when I look at a menu and everything sounds so good. The apps were very tasty. Chicken tenders were plain with a crispy (panko?) breading. They do need sauce which is fine with me. The loaded "steak fries" aren't what you'd expect when you hear the term steak fries. They are giant fresh cut potato wedges, covered in cheese and bacon (typical yummy pub food). The Beer can chicken was so tender and delicious, but I needed to add my own salt because the dish lacked it. Our waitress Tabitha was nice to chat with and very helpful. It's nice when the waitstaff is filled with people that you'd love to hang out with. I was in Wildwood for a half marathon and my family and I struggled to find a decent place to eat (what is up in Wildwood??). We yelped and found this place. The pictures looked great so we decided to give it a try. Thank GOD we did! First of all, our server, Gary, was absolutely amazing. Great recommendations, friendly guy and super accommodating to our loud family that stayed way longer than we should have. Everything we ordered was pretty delicious. The hubs ordered the deviled eggs and raved about them and we also got the loaded tater tots and stuffed olives and they were super tasty. For lunch, we had the black bean and caper burger (delish), wings and steak fries (amazing and who doesn't love that they serve ONLY drumsticks?!?!), meatloaf sandwich (wrapped in bacon...need I say more?) and turkey burger (a bit dry). The drinks were also great! The bloody Mary's were awesome (made with pickle juice. Never had before and it was delicious). We also had pickle martinis and they were really good too. They make their own pickles there and they are sooooo good. So if you are in Wildwood, you are probably struggling for a good place to eat. GO HERE. Ask for Gary. This is one of the only joints open off season in Wildwood, so being open all year gets a star. The app of short rib mac n' cheese was on special so only $7 instead of $14. This is giant - a meal for 2 or an app for 5. Yummy, massive and filling. We also ordered a stuffed burger- with bleu cheese. It wasnt so good. The bleu cheese is way too overpowering and made the burger taste like basement. A bleu cheese mayo or something wouldve been better. i asked for it medium and it was very well done and not juicy at all. the burger is $14 too, not worth it. for $2 we added 'fries' but they werent normal french fries. they were really good giant potatoe wedges, tasted like baked potato not fries so ketchup didnt taste right with them. maybe they should be served with sour cream and chives instead of ketchup. they are seriously 1/4 potato wedges. Service was really sweet. they were fine with us using a Yelp 'check in' to get a free fancy irish ale AND using the yelp '$10 for $20 deal'. The food was hot and plentiful, but steer clear of the burgers - not that good for the price. the app was great. my other gripe was the place was SO bright. For a place with 80+ reviews and averaging 4 stars, I was disappointed. Sitting at the bar, I felt like I was sitting in the middle of the employee break room. The bartender constantly belittling the bar-back, a waitress that could not shut her mouth and did nothing but complain about customers, other employees, restaurant policies etc.. It really was uncomfortable. Shepard's Pie was mediocre and I'll give the benefit of the doubt to the restaurant that my sickness all night was not caused by that. On the plus side...great Irish music. This place deserves another visit and I will do just that, but I can't help but go back in a skeptical mind-set. read more

Just came back from there and I'm very disappointed. I Realy wanted this place to be at least good based on the positive reviews on yelp. I ordered the crab cake sandwich. The crab cake was all breading and the bun was not edible. You can tell the bun was old and hard.. My wife ordered the shepards pie which is the speciality . She said the taste was fine but not great. It seemed like they made it in advance and just reheated it. My three year old son ate before we arrived there so we decided to order the ice cream and fried Oreo dessert got him. The server came out with melted ice cream and before he can even place it on table I said return it cause it's melted. Well, it was a mixed experience. On the positive, the appetizers (mozz sticks and mussels) were amazing. My son's standard chicken fingers and fries were fine, they were not dry or stringy. My husband's C and C steak was different but in a good way. We have never tasted anything like it, but it was good. The portion of the meal was large. My friend and I got burgers, both were ordered med well. Mine as okay, but more on the med side. Hers was medium rare, we waited so long for the food that she just ate the outside. We had other plans and didn't want to go thru the whole sending it back process. So besides the long wait for food and the bloody burger it was just an Irish pub. My friend and I stayed at a hotel very close to this restaurant. We went out one night to get some drinks and food and I kid you not, every restaurant was closed at 9pm. We were starving and feeling dejected walking back to our hotel, when we walked by Cattle 'n Clover and decided to give eating out one last chance. We saw a waitress serving a table outside and we asked her if they were still open and they were! We headed inside and the waitress got us seated quickly and took our orders. We were so happy that this place was still open after 9pm and that we were able to get our food and drinks! The waitress was so incredibly nice and even told us we could order dessert to go! The food was amazing and drinks were as well! I will always remember the waitress that saved our night and will definitely be making an effort to eat here again when I'm back in the area! Great burgers and steak fries, fried Oreos and vanilla ice cream! One crew member helped the kids at the pool table even leaving the ball rack open so they can play an extra game. Had heard rumors this place has a TERRIBLE reputation among the locals, who will not come here because of the way employees are treated. I don't understand stand these reviews. Great BAR.. Not a steakhouse as advertised. Out of the first three things I tried to order. Medium rare steak was well done. Friend ordered medium rare burger and it was like a hockey puck. She then returned it and now 45 minutes later still no new meal and there are only 3 tables ordering food. All the rest of us are done and our friend still has not eaten. Meals did not come out together. Waited 15 minutes for the salad that went with my meal. Couldnt even get the soda without ice right. Server complained about them having no help and tried to explain why they don't have half the things on the menu. Yes, better than bordwalk food but that doesn't say much. Thought maybe the band would make up for it and they were terrible. We tried to get in to three other restaurants but all had over an hour wait and none take reservations. Would highly recommend Cattle n' Clover. The service was outstanding, we had Brian as our server and he was fantastic, he gave us a history lesson on the restaurant. I asked him what he recommended off the menu and without hesitation he recommended the ribs. Let just say he on point, some of the best ribs I have ever eaten! We also order the mozzarella sticks and buffalo chicken meatballs again let's just say they were well worth it, the mozzarella sticks were the size of egg rolls! The pricing was reasonable for the area. The restaurant itself has a very laid back atmosphere we high quality service. Had a great time. The wife and I did a date night there. Food was better than standard bar fare. Beer selection was impressive, especially with the local brews. Had a great time here for lunch the other day. We were 12 in our party, the staff was short handed and we never knew it. Food was very good to excellent and where so many establishments of this kind go wrong, CnC got it right. The corned beef sandwich was excellent, the apps were very good. The wings were not as good as I hoped for, they were big, but lacked a little in flavor. Irish nachos were very good and the spinach dip was delicious. Our first bartender was very attentive and did the little things that make for great service. With our second bartender, i can see how there might be some negative reviews about service in the future, but certainly did not ruin the experience for us. We were there early in the afternoon, can't comment on what service and food are like during crunch time. And there is shuffleboard! Nothing says vacation like a well poured Guinness and some shuffleboard. read more

Just fine for a dinner place in the middle of the week while on vacation. Good service, good beer selection and a nice steak dinner. I stopped in on a Wednesday night and sat at the bar. Live music on stage with an impressive trio doing the usual covers of classic rock and country hits. I went with a 12 oz. strip steak and it was a little pricey but I expect that in these shore towns. The steak was done to my liking and I had no complaints.
