CnC has a nice look and feel to it, a solid pub presence but by no means a dive. There's a diverse tap selection, unique & delicious food combinations, plus a friendly staff that rocks kilts! Outdoor bar/seating, formal & informal sit-down options inside, plenty of bar top space, an area for live music, and a pool table in the back--yea, so much room for activities. We were lucky enough to meet the owner, John Shephard, and he was awesome. It seems like his vision and energy resonate throughout this place. As for the food, everything I tried was very good (Irish nachos, corned beef spring rolls, buffalo chicken meatballs). For starters, I'm sure this place does not deserve one star, but my experience warranted it. The menu was well crafted and had good options across the board. The atmosphere seemed decent at worst. Beer selection was also good enough at worst. The problem with our experience was witnessing s complete disregard for part of their business. We sat outside at a second bar since inside was busy. The bartender was a little awkward, direct from Ireland for the summer and not completely comfortable yet with the whole service thing, but he was fine overall. The issue was what seemed to be leaving him with a lack of necessary tools to do his job effectively. First, the open area not being partially closed off was odd to me. The view in the street was of an old vfw building and the street/pedestrian noise was not ideal. A simple wooden partition of some sort would be cheap and work wonderfully to enhance the atmosphere and not leave it completely open. Secondly, he had a faulty soda gun which was BARELY working. How you expect someone to run a bar with that is beyond me. They may not know about it, but that's not really an excuse. On top of this was just the overall feeling that he and the outside area as a whole was being neglected like an ugly step child type thing. Besides that, the food was mediocre. Chicken tenders were fine and I enjoyed the fried pickles (although too much breading). The corned beef spring rolls should have been much better. They were overcooked in the fryer and the corned beef was also overcooked and dry, which left me to assume it was leftover/reject corned beef they wanted to reuse. Done properly it could have been a fantastic dish. All in all, it was a classic example of a place with potential that is drastically underachieving. 2 years later and this is still one of my favorite stops in Wildwood. Shore bars and restaurants can be really hit or miss. Some like to get by on the visitors not knowing better... and are subpar at crazy prices. Cattle 'n Clover has excellent food and drink and at reasonable prices. If your into wings, check these out. Showed up late night for a free yelp drink and just ordered apps. Holy mozzarella sticks. When the bartender suggested them I had to suppress an eye roll. Then the owner suggested them. Then I ate them. You will never order mozzarella sticks the same way again. The tator tots were just okay for me despite the reviews. The buffalo chicken meatballs were decent. Absolutely excellent service. Great vibe and service in the "stuffwhitepeoplelike.com" genre. Pool tables and shuffle board. Will definitely be back. Is there another Cattle n' Clover in Wildwood? Because the food I had wasn't at all incredible. In fact, it was close to the worst I ever had. The best thing we had was a mediocre Artichoke and Spinach Dip and for an Irish restaurant, that's not saying much. The Bacon Wrapped Meatloaf was a mush slab wrapped in a rubber band. A glob of paste would have been better than the mashed potatoes served with it. You know when you should come here? St. Patrick's Day or Irish Weekend. Have a Guinness, listen to the Irish music and enjoy the good service (That's why I gave 2 instead of 1 star) But for the love of all that is holy, don't eat dinner here! read more

Randomly found this place on a nostalgic stroll of my early 20s stomping grounds. The live band (very good) and the outside bar seduced us inside. We've liked it so much, we've been there 3 times in one week. Once for drinks. Once with a group of 8 (dinner and drinks). Once with just the two of us for a late night dinner. Each time was great. DJ on Fridays. Bands on Saturdays. There's a shuffle board table (legit American size which you rarely ever see), pool tables and ping pong tables. It's a fun drinking environment. Servers are generally good. Bartenders as well. The owner (I'm assuming) checked in on us 2 of our 3 visits. Now onto the deliciousness that is their menu. I'm Going to be super detailed because we've tried a variety of the menu. The apps we had were fantastic. The corn beef and cabbage spring rolls were like nothing I've ever had before. Our large party dinner ordered 2 more orders because everyone loved them. Seriously, that good. Served over mashed potatoes and spicy ground mustard. Also good were the tater tots (huge), mozz sticks, chicken fingers, buffalo chicken meatballs. The short rib sliders were tender but lacked flavor. The short rib mac and cheese was good but short on flavor as well. The wings were too big for my liking, but taste was good. Entrees: Fish and chips were good but not the best I've had. Burger: I had the C&C burger. Cooked perfectly and seasoned lightly, as a burger should be. The seafood stew was good, IMO lacked garlic, but others loved it. Buffalo chicken meatball sandwich was fantastic. I'm not a fruity drink girl, but when you mix fruity and bourbon, I'm in! They have a couple of delicious concoctions. Overall, great atmosphere. Walked in on Tuesday after finding what looked to be a good menu online. At door, my party of 5 were greeted by a salesman type bouncer..I know, what a combo! We were told its $5.00 admission to eat wings and buy cheap beer. I didn't realize it was college prep night In my quest to feed my family I slipped by this gent with his hand out and found a "hostess" hiding to request a standard menu and seating. Considering the balladeer and patrons at the bar with 16 fluorescent ceiling fixtures full blast, you would assume the place was "open" at 7 pm. The "hostess" told me she couldn't seat our party at the clearly vacant tables because, "there is a thirty-minute wait." Of course I couldn't bear to not find out why and said, "why?" I was told, "there isn't enough cooks!" Is there a way to remove my one-star? On to my next review about the really great attentive Dragon Garden across the street. read more

Started off having water dripping from the ceiling on us for awhile before the server moved us to another table. This wasn't even addressed by anyone and they sat another table there right after who we saw shifting around to avoid the water too! The only reason this place got a second star is because the filet was honestly delicious. The fish and chips were overdone, ribeye grossly overdone the first time, Sheppard's pie was soupy and lackluster at best. Owner tried telling us the cod is fresh, which was cute considering I work in a FRESH seafood restaurant and it was obviously frozen. Service was moderate, but he was not well versed on their menu and kept cutting us off when we were trying to order. Went for early dinner with family. 4 adults 2 kids. Appetizers were outstanding. Mozzarella sticks were enormous. Fried pickles were very good. The wings were best part. Not wings but drum sticks. The maple flavor was my favorite. For dinner I had corned beef and cabbage which was good, nothing amazing. Another had the steak and eggs and was very happy with it. Do not waste your time at this terribly run excuse for a restaurant. We made reservations and were seated right away which was the ONLY positive aspect of our experience. It took 2 waiters and 20 minutes to bring out our drink order- (water and juice for the kids). No one came by to even check on us so after about 30 minutes, we got up and asked about our order. The manager gave us the run around and we seriously considered leaving which, in retrospect, would have been a GREAT decision- but we decided to wait it out. After a 40 minute total wait, our appetizers were delivered but the order was wrong. The servers- who were different than our first two waiters, didn't know what they were doing. We waited another 30 minutes for our cold and undercooked entrees which were ALL swimming in grease. Honestly we could have picked better food out of a dumpster on the boardwalk.... Rather than tell us the truth- that the kitchen is painfully slow, the manager gave us a bullshit story that the chef walked out, but if you read the previous posts, you will see that historically other people complained of long wait times. The staff was so inattentive and terribly disorganized that I don't even understand how this place operates. If you have kids do yourself a HUGE favor and go anywhere but here. If you want an edible meal and/or if you intend on doing anything else after your meal-- do yourself a favor and go anywhere but here. Cattle'n'Clover is a bar. A really terrible bar. My family has been vacationing in wildwood for 50+ years and I could tell you that our experience here will be remembered as one of the WORST. 3rd year in a row we've eaten at C&C during our Wildwoods vacation. Dinner this time was just as flawless. The atmosphere during the week is quieter (live music makes it loud, but doesn't detract). They take reservations, have a great staff and the price is what you'd expect from a non chain restaurant. The food..... my gods, the food. Must have apps: the tater tots and the buffalo chicken meatballs. Unique flavors spruce familiar staples up to new heights. Of course you have to new into Bleu cheese, though. The chef's specialties, entrees, burgers and kid's meals are all huge portions, creative and presented beautifully. Especially the rack of lamb (get it rare. ..scrumptious!) and the meatloaf. Rate is based on first time visit . Four of us went with the intention of war jig the Notre dame game( fiat game of the season ). Knowing that it was a Irish bar we thought it was a great location. Getting dinner to start, we could just tell by sitting the place was run down, the staff were all over the place . The bus staff were young kids not in uniform , just wondering around. Our waiter was a young kid, wasn't the best server but the worst. I started off with a side salad, salad was old and tasted bad. I then ordered chicken meatballs , came out overly heated up the plate was steaming . The meatballs were so dry , i could have played tennis with them. My bf ordered a burger w no mushroom n onion . The burger came out with everything on it , thankfully isn't allergic . After asking for our " separate checks" , as we had two couples . The check came out as one , waiter went to fix it and still had it wrong . The lady waitress came back, clearly the kid didn't know what to do or how to fix it. So we circled what we ordered to easily separate the bills . Once i told her about the burger as a heads up, she wanted to take he burger off the bill but we said not to. Wonderful food and accommodating staff. My boyfriend and I went on two different occasions in June while we were on vacation. The first time was for lunch and drinks the waitress told me that since they just opened that they did not have their full menu ready yet so all the selections on the take out menu weren't ready to order yet. The veggie wrap I had planned to order was not yet on the menu but the waitress talked to the cook and got the veggie wrap for me. The berry martini on the specialty drink menu was delicious and generously garnished with fresh berries. The second time we went was around 7pm for drinks. I had a delicious thin mint martini with cookies around the rim. It was dessert in a glass. I also had a half and half (Guinness and Smithwicks). The specialty drinks can get a little pricey, my boyfriend paid 11 dollars for one of his and the bartender told him that some of the drinks on the menu can go beyond that. My family and I really loved this place. Live band, great atmosphere, and delicious food and great prices. We had the homemade mozzarella sticks, meatloaf panini, and stuff burger. All great. They had a variety of things on the kids menu for the girls, and while we waited for the food there were plenty of games to play, shuffle board, ping pong, and pool. I would definitely go back. Thanks to yelp for the deal $20 for $10 and the free pint of Shepard's ale for checking in.. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because parking is a real hassle. Went there with my wife for an early dinner. The staff there was very friendly creating a great atmosphere. We shared the Mozzarella Sticks, which were huge and great. I had the Fried Grilled Cheese sandwich, which was amazing. Never had anything like it before. My wife had the Fresh Pesto Cajun Chicken Sandwich, which she love. Sandwich was big and the flavor was perfect. PS. Special thanks to our waitress, I forget her name but she had short hair and was very friendly.
