7/26/2026 We brought 11 of our Lunch Bunch friends from Good Shepherd Church to Cattleman's Roadhouse on South Hurstbourne Pkwy. Sam our server had enough long tables to seat the 11 of us. We gave him our beverage order and started looking over the menus. On Sundays they have a special that they offer, choose 1 entree and pick a Side off the special menu and you would get a Salad Bar included. They have an awesome Salad Bar. The choices of meals were really great! I chose the 6 oz Sirloin and my side was a Sweet Potato with Cinnamon Butter and Brown Sugar. It was excellent! My husband decided on the Bourbon Glazed Chicken. It was a bit Spicey, but it was good and he had mashed potatoes. Several others had the Pork Chop Meal and another had a Burger Plate. We all had a really great time, the restaurant was not loud and the food was so good!! I came here tonight with wife and parents. the salad bar is always good. sometimes it's better than the meals. 3 out of 4 people got the early bird special which ends at 530pm. on those specials you get less than the regular orders. my dad ordered the prime rib sandwich. he said it was mostly bread, way too salty, and half the meat as compared to Arby's. he said Arby's roast beef sandwich was 6 times better. other disappointments were the fact they only give military discount only on Mondays. what's that all about? one day a week? pathetic. and, they only give senior discounts on Thursdays only. wtf. military and senior discounts should be every day. bad business practices. read more

Went there for the first time and ordered the steak tips medium but they were too tough with the loaded baked potato and salad bar. Thoroughly enjoyed the salad bar best I have had in ages. A Dragonfruit Margaritas that were very good. Was able to substitute the tips for a fried thick pork chop and it did not disappoint. The Server was very nice as it was very busy. We had a great dinner here. Service was over the top excellent. And just as excellent were the complimentary and endless hot and fresh Parker House-style dinner rolls. Oh so delicious: a little buttery and a little sweet. Prices At Cattleman's are inexpensive. A ribeye steak for $26.95? Get outta here, what a great deal! Most entrees were less than $20 and for just $4.95 extra, you also get the endless salad bar. The salad bar is decent. Though not big, the selections were very good and everything was fresh. I noticed too that the salad bar was clean and well-maintained. For an appetizer, we ordered the onion rings. They were spot on. Loved ''em! For entrees we ordered the chicken fried steak and the fish. The entrees come with one side. We got the mashed potatoes and fries. Both the country fried steak and the fish were decent. This location always has friendly service and great staff. The gentleman waiter was so fast, friendly and even cleared our table and he wasn't our server. The salad bar has a great selection and someone is always refilling and restocking. The fried pork chop is out of this world. I've been to a few others that aren't as consistent. I had a wonderful experience at Cattlemen's Roadhouse! Our server, Nene G., was extremely polite and checked on us regularly, making sure we had everything we needed. It's been several years since I've dined at this location. Recently stopped in for dinner. Nice cocktail menu. Tried the build your own burger with fries. Food arrived quickly. The burger was quite good with a nice char from the grill. Attentive and friendly service from Samuel S and the manager checked in with our table as well. A very popular restaurant in our neighborhood....everyone loves their fully stocked, very well maintained, salad bar. You need to be on the ball to keep up with their specials. Daily specials. This restaurant is close to where I live and I decided to go to dinner here one night. I got a steak dish and I'm unsure how they prepared it but it seemed to have been boiled? It was a strange color and had very obviously not been seared or grilled. The texture wasn't great and I was extremely disappointed in the meal. They've got an unlimited salad bar that was fine. It has a variety of greens, salad toppings and salad dressings. The rolls were great and the server was on top of things. She was very friendly and explained the daily specials. Although I did appreciate the service and rolls, I can't see myself going back here in the future due mainly to the food quality. There are so many excellent restaurants in Louisville, that it doesn't make sense to return here. read more

This restaurant was a version of Texas Roadhouse. It was pretty good, but also average at the same time. Nothing really stood out. I always love a salad bar so I appreciated that being an option! First thing to know: it's Valentine Day. We knew it would be busy. That said, we got here early 3:18. It was going to be 35 min wait we decided to eat in bar. Took at least 10 min to be acknowledged. Waitress was experienced and good, but could not keep up. We had appetizer tobacco, onion rings. Very good. Prime rib sandwich excellent. Cheeseburger was nothing special. Would not recommend cheeseburger. We did not get some extras we asked for - lemons, horseradish sauce and promised coffee refill twice without getting. Had to ask. Four of our group of six arrived earlier and our waitress, Kristina M took our drink order. Without taking our order she told us we could go to the salad bar if we were going to order it later. And she brought rolls. The rest of our group arrived, and she helped us get our order in before the "happy hour" food discount ended. My family of 4 came to Cattleman's for my dad's birthday. While they don't take reservations, we didn't have an issue getting a table for eight on a Saturday afternoon. Even better we could get the lunch specials. Best Tip: the salad bar can be added on for $3.49 to entrees OR appetizers. I bought the potato skins, big portions of 6 slices and great to share (they do not heat up well later). Adding the salad bar was a no-brainer and I really enjoyed being able to go back for more. Other family members got steaks, just the cheaper option for the lunch special. My son gave me a few bites of his and it was good. Plenty of food! Service was fantastic for our bigger party and our server answered all the questions we had as first time guests. Restaurant is huge inside. Good for families and larger groups. This was nothing special. The chicken was super dry. My friend got the steak, though, and it was good - that was my own fault for not ordering steak from a steakhouse. We waited a long time but our server was so kind and apologetic, going as far as to offer us free appetizers. We waited a long time for our checks as well but I suppose they were just busy. We had a good experience at Cattleman's on a Sunday. Both of us got the 6 oz sirloin with the salad bar & a side for $15.99. One of our steaks was a little over cooked, but everything else was good. Hello, Long time patrons of Cattleman's, eat in and pick up. Unfortunately no longer. Was great while it lasted. Pick up is our main complaint. Orders wrong, over cooked. Promised time. They don't seem to understand that anymore. The kicker was tonight March 20th, 2025, Ordered 12 0z Ribeye MR. What we got was a steak that was at a minimum 40% fat. $26.99. I know a good rib-eye is supposed to have some fat. Not that much. I worked in restaurants when I was younger and was an Associate Chef, before that a butcher. I cut Rib-eyes and T-bones. This is not my kinda restaurant but was my dad's choice for his birthday dinner... dad's a basic meat & potatoes, chain restaurant, kinda guy. Ha. Anyhow, I felt it was kinda overpriced for the restaurant caliber it was. Some 3-4 star prices with a 2 star service/restaurant. I went with the prime rib, smashed red potatoes, and the salad bar. I should've done without the salad bar (I think it was a $3.99 additional charge) but since I paid for it, I got my fill of it and took half my entree home. The entree was pretty good; however, the steak had a spicy seasoning around the edges that I didn't care for so I scraped it off. The steak and potatoes warmed up nice the next day too. Service was slacking. For example, when our bread basket was empty, we were eventually given a new one but the old one wasn't taken away... same with drinks, and our salad plates just stacked up too. If you are looking for a hidden spot that you can get in fast with good food, come here. We went on a Friday night between 8-9 and we could just walk in and get seated. Not busy at all. So nice to not have to wait. Our server Ann Marie was the best waitress we have had in a long time. Very attentive and super sweet. Their salad bar was open. They had hand sanitizer available along with disposable gloves. I really appreciated that. I went up twice and used the gloves both times. There wasn't a garbage can available though to throw them away so I had to end up putting them on the table we were eating at when we were done. The salad bar had most everything you could think of except for tuna and potato salad. There was fruit as well. Plenty of options for a nice salad and you can go up as much as you want. They have different specials I guess daily. When we went they had, bourbon glazed sirloin steak with salad bar and a side. The bourbon glaze on the steak was really good. I will say that the steak wasn't seasoned much and if it was it would have been much better. The steak was cooked just like I asked maybe a tad over but it was still perfect. This place is close to me but I've never been before. Had a request to try and do I went in to pick up our order. You have to wait upfront until server seats you and pickups are not allowed to go to bar. I waited at front area while the server went to get my meal. I didn't like this, as I wanted to inspect the food to make sure I had everything. Either way, our food was packaged well and it was delicious. I had a steak with potato and it was appetizing. Came to cattleman's roadhouse for my daughter's birthday and this was the worst experience that I have ever had at this establishment. I have been here to eat a lot of times but this one takes the cake. I am actually still here. Our waitress service was terrible. Took 25 minutes for a member of our party to even get their drinks. My steak took 45 minutes and it was unbelievably over cooked. It took almost 30 minutes to get our appetizers. I am seeing people who sat down after us completely finished with their meal before ours came, not to mention they have the same server as us. I would not recommend this place to anyone. I haven't been here since the great restaurant shut down period. I don't come here for their steaks not that they are bad. I just like cooking my steak's on my wood pellet grill slow smoking them . But I do make this my salad bar choice accompanied with chicken fried steak or one of the other not steak choices. It turned out to be a good choice for lunch and I plan on coming back for the pork chops next time. We've been to Cattleman's Roadhouse a few times, and I'm pretty sure it's become my favorite steakhouse. One of the things I like about Cattleman's over other national steak houses is that there's not a long-ass line of people waiting to be seated when you walk in the door (at least not when we've visited), and we have (after about a half dozen visits) been seated immediately. Granted, one of those times was at the bar, but we've always been able to find a table with no problem. Cattleman's has your typical steakhouse/western/frontier type atmosphere. Since our most recent visit was the Friday before Christmas there was Holiday music playing. Another departure of Cattleman's is that they don't play country music normally, but a broad selection of music. (Yes, I notice these things because I'm not a huge fan of country music and when stuck with nothing but, I tend count the seconds before I can get away.) As steakhouse salad bars go, Cattleman's is my #1. A choice of several types of greens starts you off, then the veggies, meats, cheeses, and dressing add up to a great salad for a nominal upcharge. They also have an assortment of pasta salads, cottage cheese, and (if you're ready for dessert before dinner), chocolate and vanilla pudding. The salad bar is constantly cleaned and restocked by a person dedicated to that task, and she does an amazing job of keeping it great shape. The menu is sizable and comes with all the trappings of a typical steakhouse. The Haystack Sirloin is a real treat and I've had that a couple times. On my most recent visit I opted for Wild Bill's Ribeye and it was Off The Charts amazing. When I order steaks I always ask for extra seasoning, and this one was more perfect than perfect could possibly be. Our server for this visit was Darius, and Darius was awesome. He put up with our sense of humor and kept up with our demand for iced tea refills. He stopped by the table frequently to make sure we weren't lacking for anything, and even stayed to chat a while. #SuperServer. All the staff was constantly in motion busing tables, taking orders, delivering food, and making sure the place is clean. With all that noise you'd think it'd be unreasonably noisy, but it the noise level was actually very comfortable and I could talk to my wife across the table with no additional effort. Yes, there a bigger steakhouses in the area, but do yourself a favor. Give Cattleman's a chance. From the service to the menu, it's possibly the best mid-range steakhouse in town. read more

We came in here on a Thursday night to give this place a second chance and they knocked it out of the park. We both got sirloins hers was the big one mine was with bourbon sauce and onion strings. Service is bad to put it mildly. They brought our appetizer to us as we were waiting to pay for the meal we had already eaten, though we had inquired about it before the food came out. The food wasn't terrible but we won't return. Our waitress would see me looking in her direction so she would reverse course and go the other way so I couldn't ask her for anything.
