Just wanted to write this review to express my appreciation for Bessy & the rest of the staff at The Foxchase CAVA location. I'm an employee of WMATA & sometimes my lunch hours are shortened. There has NEVER been a time where I've encountered any rudeness, unprofessional activity. Every employee there seems to get along with each other & this passes on in how they treat us as paying customers! They always seem to be well-stocked with EVERYTHING I need to make my lunch break well worth the drive! I come to this location maybe 2/3 times a week because I LOVE THE SERVICE OF THE STAFF, THE FRESHNESS OF THE FOOD, & THE CLEANLINESS OF THE ESTABLISHMENT! I must admit that I eat way too much Cava! As a "clean" eater I can't go wrong here. I love the quality and the great service. I typically order a bowl with "super greens", lentils, chicken, hummus, and all the pickled toppings, finished off with green harissa dressing. The housemade drinks are also a favorite of mine. They are lightly sweetened without corn syrup or fake sugar. Definitely try the Ginger Lime Tumeric. This is a nice sized location with ample seating even during the lunch rush and the dining room and bathrooms are exceptionally clean. We love CAVA and probably order from this location at least once per week through uber eats... After our last few orders were missing the extra chicken that we paid for, my husband decided that he'd start going in there more often to make sure we were getting what we paid for. Today, I was on the phone with my husband when he went to Cava. He ordered our usual (2 greens/grains bowls with extra chicken and his was half chicken and BEEF meatballs with an addition of extra chicken and 2 orders to pita chips) -I emphasized the word beef so that when you take a look at the attached receipt you can see why there's a problem. When he asked for the beef meatballs, the woman who fixed our bowls even repeated it back to him (as well as never hesitating to constantly repeat the fact that extra items would cost extra like a broken record ‍) once he gets to the register she gives him a total of $45.61 and after he swiped his card, he asked for a receipt because the total sounded completely wrong... when we place the same order on uber eats with THREE orders of pita chips, it's about $38... how do you get $46 out of 2 bowls and 2 orders of pita chips?! Let's direct your attention to the receipt... first of all, how do you get DOUBLE charged for extra chicken when you only asked for double chicken in each bowl once? Furthermore, all of that food would not fit in those bowls...Secondly, you remember those BEEF meatballs that I spoke about earlier? The same ones that she repeated back to him as she scooped them into the bowl? Yea... how did they become the $1.55 (additionally charged )Lamb Meatballs on the receipt? And why was he charged for an extra side of them when they were included with the half/half protein portion?! How about we ask the manager, Jose... because as soon as my husband requested the receipt he pretty much hauled ass to the register to catch it. He was soooo apologetic and refunded "one of the bowls." His employee blatantly overcharged my husband for our food and she received zero reprimand...in fact as soon as the manager walked up, she walked off as if it was business as usual. This isn't the first review that mentions being overcharged, or wrongly charged and I'd hate to suggest that these business practices are being advised to the employees making the bowls/ringing up the food... but what does it sound like to you?! While I enjoy the food from this particular location, there are many others in the area that I'll be trying from here on out. These unethical business practices don't sit right with me. This is the best cava location! The ceilings are high, the windows are large and let in natural light. The parking lot is easy to navigate making it a flawless experience! I always get a greens and grain bowl with romaine an d brown rice. I add chicken and falafel, feta, cucumbers and tomatoes and tzikiki and pita strips. Delicious! The side of fried pita chips are a great appetizer for the meal! It always looks like q lot of food, but I never find myself super full and sick because the food is lighter and a little healthier than if I were at a chipotle. My only issue was that the app wouldn't work when I was there. I had money on my app that I wanted to use, but was unable to, sadly. I specifically went there to use my app so I wouldn't have to use my cash... that didn't work out! I live 40 miles away, so hopefully I'll get to use the money next month when I have to go up north again! read more

Always had a good experience. yesterday was different. empty food pans, and the lady was still trying to scoop the bottom of the containers to sell me. the hummus and other ingredients were depleted and there was food all over the counter. another employee came to clean the area with a dirty towel, and some of the food pieces got into the food containers, . trash receptacles by the drink fountains were full and empty plates and bowls were fall off. the worst i have ever seen this location. i hope this is not the beginning the end for this food facility. read more

I have been to this location a few times recently. I love the space, its bright, open, and huge! The employees have always been very kind and helpful. Food is always delicious. I tend to stick with what I know and like which is a chicken brown rice bowl with lots of toppings. My only complaint is that some employees seem to be a little light handed with some of the ingredients. I love the crazy fetta and the spicy harissa sauce. I also really like their unique drinks that they have, always fun. This is definitely a regular in my rotation. read more

Cava is one of my weekly go-tos and I've started to frequent this location over Rosslyn and Mosaic because of the quality (consistently fresh and good portions). It's been a month since I ordered and this most recent experience was disappointing. My bowl was half full (I ordered double falafel and 2x veggies). For $12+ I expected close to a full bowl, which is what I've received in the past. I asked the employee if he could fill up my bowl with lettuce and he was happy to do so but I'm pretty disappointed. This location is a no. The romaine was super brown in which we had throw out two bowls for one decent bowl of romaine and the super green kale wasn't cut properly. So after having a pretty good experience at another Cava location, I was ready for another rice bowl. However, this experience wasn't as good as the previous experience. I came to this Cava location because I was hanging out with a friend who lives in the area. It was fairly late and I believe they were less than an hour away from closing. Needless to say, there was no line. I stood there waiting for someone to begin my order as two employees had a conversation as if I weren't standing there. Finally, they look over and begin my order. This time I ordered a bowl with beef meatballs and pretty much stuck to the same toppings I usually get. I found the meatballs to be a little on the dry side. But nevertheless, I still gobbled up everything in the bowl. Overall, I'd say this experience was pretty average but I'd still return. read more

It took me a while to enjoy the flavors of CAVA. This CAVA is located in the same plaza as Harris Teeter and Chipotle but on the right hand side (if you're standing at Duke, looking toward the Plaza). Very clean and the employees are friendly. Around lunch, things can get busy but that just shows how yummy this place is. The food is fresh and warm- doesn't taste like it's been standing around for half the day. Now the reason why it took me a while to like the place is because I never really found a good combo until I made my husband pick the ingredients for my bowl. Mediterranean good are strong in flavors and spices. Too much would overpower the bowl (which was my issue). The norm: white rice, humus, taziki and crazy feta (not that spicy actually), chicken, cucumbers, tomatoes, feta, pita chips and Greek Vinaigrette - the ingredients for a bomb ass bowl. Their drinks selection is pretty awesome as well: peach green tea, unsweetened black tea, watermelon, basil limeade, Mexican cola and more. Want wanted? Only bad thing about this location is that the parking lot is super crowded and there are very limited curbside pick up areas. Very healthy. The star of their bowls is definitely their hummus. My personal favorite is the eggplant + roasted red pepper hummus. Has nice heat and a creamy texture. The meats and grains seemed to be very bland and there was not much flavor in my grains + greens bowl aside from the hummus. The quality of service in this Cava is below a one star, but since I don't have that option I'm posting anyways. I've been frequenting this Cava over the past year and nearly each and every visit we are treated rudely, the store is unclean and items are either not stocked or not fresh. Tonight, we requested our dips on the side and were nearly charged extra (although you get 3 with your meal), when we asked why they charged us we were they were extremely impolite as response as they corrected their error. Last time at this Cava, I will be driving an extra 15 minutes to Kingstowne to avoid the even staff here. read more

Generally the staff is very friendly and I've never waited more than a few minutes from order to my fork then my stomach. I leave Cava stuffed for hours...it's a very filling lunch or dinner. The location is on the busy Duke street but it can be a pain to navigate if you're coming in through the Harris Teeter entrance. I was pretty excited to see a Cava was opening up in Alexandria! This fast-casual restaurant offers build-your-own bowls of Mediterranean goodies. You start off with a base (salad, rice, pita, or grains), dips/spread, protein (falafel, grilled chicken, grilled meatballs, braised beef, spicy lamb meatballs, or braised lamb), toppings (lemon wedges, pickled onions, quinoa tabbouleh, etc.), and then dressings. I had the Greens & Grain (Romaine and the basmati rice), hummus and the Crazy Feta, grilled chicken (the chicken was a little too dry, but it was alright for me) and the falafels (these had a chlorine taste to them, so they were pushed off to the side), kalamata olives, and cucumber (these were missing from my order). I don't care much for the pita bread, but this time around, it was okay and good with the dip. The Crazy Feta is my absolute favorite (they even sell this and their other dips at Whole Foods/specialty grocery stores), as it has a nice bite from the feta cheese with a nice little kick. I've also noticed that the portion was a little more conservative than the other locations, so I'm hoping this is just an opening day issue! One thing I was really excited about was their housemade juices, as I'm a huge fan of the Mango Apple Kale; while they didn't have the Mango Apple Kale, they still had 6 varieties (Black Tea, Hibiscus Green Tea, Carrot Ginger Lemonade, Lavender Limeade, Strawberry Mint Lime, and Cardamom Apple Basil) - I had their Strawberry Mint Lime, where not much mint was tasted, but it was more like a strawberry limeade. Drinking these juices that is jampacked with fruits and vegetables make you feel slightly better about downing them like there's no tomorrow AHAHA. Recycling stations for compost, plastics, etc. are all set-up and there's plenty of seating - this place is definitely larger and more spacious than the other Cavas I've been to. Since the place is new, it is bright, clean, and super cheerful. There's also an ample amount of parking in the shared plaza lot.
