Come on CAVA. This is getting to be ridiculous for the past two times that I visited the store in Irvine, CA they have filled my bowl up halfway with barely any meat and a small amount of lettuce. It's becoming pretty apparent over the past month or two that cava is cutting cost not by raising prices, but by filling up the bowl halfway and skimping customers. I've been going to cava ever since they opened on the East Coast for work and continue to here on the West Coast where I live, but I have had enough with paying for food that doesn't even fill you up now. So disappointed that the company is taking this route. You're going to loose customers eventually when everyone starts realize what you're doing although it may be working now, it's going to eventually catch up and you'll loose sales. Food is great. Flavors are good. Clean and service is friendly. I personally like the eggplant dip. I wish for falafel, given the size, they gave 3 instead of 2 for "half scoop". One big watch out is -- please make sure your brown rice is fully cooked. I almost chipped my teeth from the uncooked (not undercooked) brown rice. Most of the scoop was undercooked and a portion was raw/uncooked. It's extremely hard and hurts if you bite into it. My first visit I didn't have this issue. I would've given CAVA a solid 4 stars after my first visit. Ordered the same thing on my second visit today around 4 pm. Please make sure it's fully cooked. Otherwise it's dangerous for people with brittle teeth. read more

Ryan and his coworker (a blonde teenager that looked like a kid) were rude and sarcastic to me and my sister. We got there around 9:30 pm, I know it was late but that's not an excuse to treat your customers poorly. I asked for a chicken and rice bowl and I told them I don't want the arugula salad but regular and Ryan pointed at all salads acting like I'm the stupid one for asking for "regular salad". My sister wanted a bowl but she asked for stake instead of chicken (she never been to cava so she needed help ordering) and Ryan acted like he didn't hear what she said and gave her a pita. *This review is for the service as I didn't get to try their food* Came on a Thursday night around 7 pm. My fiancé and I got in line behind another woman. Halfway through making my fiancé and the other woman's bowls, the manager decided to have an all-staff meeting off to the side. The manager had one employee continue working on my fiancé and the other woman's bowls but after about 10 minutes the employee was still completing the other woman's order. Another couple had also gotten into line behind my fiancé and I during this time. During those 10 minutes, we could hear bits of what the manager was saying and it sounded like he was somewhat lecturing the staff. My fiancé and I ended up leaving as we didn't want to wait any longer and couldn't tell how much longer the meeting was going to run. I understand the restaurant recently opened and it takes a bit of time to get into the swing of things, but I don't think it's very timely or appropriate to have an all-staff meeting in the middle of working hours. Or the manager could have at least finished serving the current customers then held the meeting. Separately, almost all the tables were dirty. There were about 10 employees so you'd think one of them could be assigned to wipe down the tables. I do think Cava in general has good food (not sure about this location since I didn't get to try it) but this location needs to work on its service / have better management. read more

The male server did not build the bowl as I wanted, 2 table spoons of rice, and 2 table spoons of beans. I wanted rice 3/4 inch covering the bottom and the beans 1/2 inch on top of that. Bowl filling went the same way and I got about 2 / 5 's filled bowl of food. Even the toppings were weak. 1/2 scoop of red pepper humus, etc. Lamb serving so poor. Very expensive for much less than 1/2 bowl. I will never go again. I think he hated an older White retired gentleman. Don't bother with an online order. They regularly miss the window by about 30 or more minutes, with staff entirely uninterested in actually getting you your food. 30 minutes is not an exaggeration. I'm sitting here with my pick up time being 115, still waiting for my food at 145. This is the second time they've done this. I don't see this location improving. What a shame, food is okay if they can be bothered giving you what you paid for. read more

I visited the store here on Irvine Boulevard (Woodbury town center) around 745 pm friday August 22. Probably the worst experience I've had in a while. They are not only stingy, They're very disrespectful. First of all the store entrance is confusing. There is no sign that leads you to the line. you walk naturally down the store And then you realize that they've blocked it. You have to come back and then go find the line. you get in the line you're not greeted. Employees look like they're not happy to be working there. Seems like they want to be doing something else and they're doing this just because they have to earn a living. I ask for a bowl which is going to cost me after taxes more than 14 or $15. I got a small amount of rice, small amount of hummus some arugula and one other thing I don't remember what the name was. then it came to meet section. I said I want half chicken half Red meat. They use a spatula which is already a small size. Employee filled less than half of that spatula with chicken and then shakes it off to remove some of it. and then takes a few pieces of the red meat from the bowl, maybe five or six pieces. so I tell the guy Can I have some more meat please? and then all of a sudden a guy that I don't know jumps in very aggressively and disrespectfully and says you're gonna have to pay more. I was surprised who is this guy and why did he jump in all of a sudden? I'm talking to somebody else! It looked like he came to kick me out. he was disrespectful and annoying. so I said that's fine. I don't need to eat here and I left. I will never go back there again and I don't recommend this place to anyone. read more

Will not be going to this location anymore. Came one hour before closing and they apparently "ran out" of everything because they were too lazy to get paid to work! I use to be in the food industry, I've been there. I've served, and done my fair share of customer service. The night shift female worker looked so miserable I felt bad for her. Tell me how you can run out tomato, Pita chips, pita bread, Garlic sauce, and cheese? Do you guys hand ferment the cheese every morning? Probably not. Do you guys bake the pita bread so it's fresh? Cava at Woodbury is very disappointing, I'm a fan of Cava but at this location the food and service are very bad. We came in today they were running low on everything, the rice and lentils extra hard, not edible. The work/serving stations were so dirty, food and greens everywhere. There was also a bunch of stacked up trays on the counter very messy kitchen. They were understaffed, we waited in line for over 20 min. The girl preparing the bowls was also running the register. I will not be coming here again. It's a new location you would think they keep it clean, well stocked and get people in and out. read more
