Visited here last night and I was throughly disappointed, still hungry, and upset. It was about 45 minutes before closing and they were out of half of the menu. Okay whatever, I've worked in food service I know u just want to leave, but on top of that they were trying to conserve the food they already have by giving us half the portion and rushing us to leave. It felt so rude they were even out of feta .... 45 min before closing !!!!! Half the portion and no options but still the same price though. The workers weren't rude but they definitely weren't helpful and were rushing us to move to the next bar I felt like I couldn't even ask for extra of anything. Looking at these other reviews this place needs to sharpen up cuz this makes cava look real bad EDIT: actually I was there at 7:20 ... just found out they close at 10pm.... I got the "build it Greens + Grains bowl" with pita on the side Hummus: tzatziki and red pepper hummus Protein: harissa honey chicken (had a nice kick to it) and grilled chicken Dressing: yogurt dill And I ended up getting as many toppings as I can! Portions are huge!! I ended up having two meals with this! Which was a steal for the cheap price of the bowl. TIP - Would recommend getting the dressing in the side so it would not make your bowl soggy. The only downside was they ran out of a lot of ingredients I wanted to try. I love this place! A Paleo friendly, Vegan friendly, whole food plant based friendly, quick service, low prices and convenient. It can't be topped. I had this in Washington DC and wished it was in California and now we have it going on 5 years. I love it! There are many great savory and spicy options which keep it fresh and new every visit. Your base: has multiple options, lentils, white basmati rice, brown basmati rice, arugula, romaine, baby spinach, super greens mix, mesclun mix. There's no place that has as many quality leafy green options to choose from. They allow you to mix and match. My favorite is the super greens with kale brussel sprouts, broccoli, chicory, and cabbage. The dips: They give you 3 sides to choose from out of 6 options: Hummus , a roasted red pepper hummus , tzaziki, eggplant and red pepper, crazy feta, harrisa. In my opinion, all the options taste good. When I say they taste good, I don't mean ok. Compared to other foods of this kind, they excel. As a vegan, I always go with the eggplant and the roasted red pepper hummus. Meat: Choose 1 from 6 options. They do have a veggie option for vegetarians. I tried the lamb meat balls and chicken before I was vegan. Both tasted great. The chicken was the best. The meat balls were a little dry, but that's not uncommon with this style. As a vegan, I now get roasted vegetables as my favorite, but also enjoy the sweet potatoes. The sweet potatoes almost tasted as sweet as fried banana. Dressing/Topping: My favorite is lemon herb tahini because it's savory with a bit of sour and complements the other ingredients very well. They have skuhg which is made with cilantro. I like cilantro but the flavor over powered the other pleasant flavors too much and didn't pair well. Bonus: They have pleasant service here. Washington DC isn't known for its service where this chain has many of its locations. read more

Super frustrating to see a line of customers waiting while only one employee was actually helping, and everyone else just ignored it to focus on shutting down. This was my family and I's first time trying Cava and it was very disappointing. Not only were most of the workers not nice at all, they were "out" of most of the toppings. The corn, pickled onions, and pita crisps were all out and it wasn't even 3pm at that point. Then when it came to the price- I'm sure the cashier charged one of the bowls extra for something when we didn't get extra of anything- $50+ for 3 bowls that were skimpy-filled? I asked the cashier and was given a vague and rude response and didn't get a receipt. I hope the other Cava locations aren't like this one. read more

The first two times I visit CAVA it was a good experience. Unfortunately if you go at night it's not the same experience. Not only was the line taking forever but they were out of almost all their toppings and rice wasn't even made properly. Once I finally ordered they were out of a lot of their toppings and the girl who was serving the toppings had a annoyed personality. Which yes, working customer service can suck but as a paying customer it also sucks to be charged for something when the other options aren't available. I got extra rice and chicken on one bowl. When we finally get to the topping and sauce I made sure to take a picture of the mess and how empty everything was. I asked if I would still be charged for the extra chicken (mind you if I'm paying $6 plus for extra chicken don't only give me an additional half scoop. She said toppings are free so yes I would get charged. Then I pointed out that they had NO toppings basically so how does that make sense. Then when I asked for pita she grabbed my bag and threw it on the counter. You don't throw food because it's just common sense. As a customer and former food worker. It is not my fault that the prep wasn't done correctly or if the staff is short. I paid $45 for food that I couldn't even enjoy because my favorite go to toppings and sauces were out. On top of the rude girl. On top of my food being semi warm since they had so many bowls lined up waiting for toppings they didn't end up having anyways. My bowl had a bug. I'm not even kidding when I say this but I am obsessed with Cava. I eat it religiously as in once or twice a week, but my most recent visit has left me utterly disgusted. There's not much to say as the picture will do all the talking, but I found a cockroach in my bowl. The establishment first dismissed it and said it was a lentil until I had to re-complain. I was shocked that a chain so big can not even meet the basic hygiene standard. Although the cockroach was relatively small, this is still unacceptable by all means. (Keep in mind it wasn't even dead, it was still squirming and moving) I wanted to share my experience so others can be more careful when eating and so others can experience better customer service. Cava used to be one of my go-tos for quick, affordable, and refreshing Mediterranean food. However, the quality of service and cleanliness of the tables have gone down significantly due to this location being short staffed. When I ordered, the black lentils, romaine, and spinach were not available. Also, compared to the bowls a few years ago, the portions have become much smaller -- a scoop of hummus is about a third of the size that it used to be, and if you ask for meatballs, they only give 4 small pieces. I remember when I first tried cava couple years ago it was something I thought I was going to enjoy for a very long time. The food was fresh, the interior was beautifully designed, they have so much variety and healthy options. I've enjoyed cava for a long time now but recently I feel like the quality and portion size of their food has drastically decreased and prices keep going up. For $12 I asked for a grain and salad bowl and what I got was some salad with a spoon full of rice. When I asked if I could get a tad bit more rice the employee rolled his eyes and literally dropped like 6 grains of rice LOL. No biggie, maybe it was just the rice he was skimping. Unfortunately it was the same thing for every little condiment. Honestly at this point, chipotle is a CHEAPER and more FILLING option. Stay clear!!! read more
