The restaurant was very dirty. The area that held the plastic forks and spoons had black mold around it. It looked like they haven't cleaned it in over a week. It was visible soiled. The tables to eat our food at were also dirty. The ingredients were all over when they were preparing our bowls. The employees didn't seem so concerned. They charged us extra for lentils even though we didn't get any other protein added to the bowl. I won't be back and not rec this place. read more

Quick and affordable Mediterranean food. I typically get the BYO (Build Your Own) where I customize my bowl with spinach, a bunch of toppings, falafel, and an assortment of sauces. We ended up here for lunch when visiting the nearby campus. My daughter has eaten dinner at Cava a few times and really enjoyed it. I was hungry so I was kind of hesitant compared to the other choices but decided to give it a fair shot. It's set up a lot like it's neighbor (Chiptole). They have pita, salad, rice or a mix. There are set menu choices or you can make your own. I read reviews and looked at the menu but it was honestly overwhelming! Being a first time customer- the service was absolute TRASH. The workers were so rude and acted like they were annoyed by our very presence it was almost comical. If you asked a question as you went through the line they got irritated and didn't want to explain anything even though we had never been there. There were four in our party and everyone commented on it as we sat down. Eeeeek! Luckily their food and drinks are really good! I had a rice and lettuce combo, spicy lamb (not too spicy) with garlic topping which was really tasty. Don't be afraid to ask for more. The spicy lamb and avacado were an up charge, which I found worth it. I also got the corn salsa, tzatziki and feta cheese. They also have a great drink bar with all natural sodas and freshly made juices. It was nice to get such a tasty lunch in and still get my daily serving of veggies! We're back in town again and I had a chance to eat at the restaurant rather than have the food delivered. As others have mentioned, it's a bit like Chipotle for Mediterranean food, only infinitely more complex IMHO :P It is so much easier ordering online and being able to choose the options you want vs. staring at tons and tons of ingredients and sauces while people behind you get frustrated with your lack of experience :D But in all seriousness, I'm glad they have curated bowls and wraps because it makes ordering that much easier! I opted for a crispy falafel wrap and had it standard with the addition of the hot sauce. It was super delicious BUT impossibly messy. Rather than wrap in a waxy paper, which is hard to tear, I wish they would use foil or something else and leave one end open so you can eat it like a burrito and not have it fall apart and drip everywhere. While the quality may not be exceptional, you get a decent amount of food for the money, a theme I am noticing at many of the restaurants near the campus. Rather than Mexican style bowls, Cava is mediterranean. It's the same type of assembly line situation like Chipotle where you just go down the line & request your base, proteins, and toppings. The bowls are bigger and also cheaper than Chipotle, and the options are way more abundant. In addition to the base, protein, & veggies you also get the option to add spreads & dressing. You can ask for complimentary pita on the side as well. I saw the cucumber mint lime drink & knew I had to get it because it looked so refreshing & it absolutely was! It kind of reminds me of the Mint Julep drink at Disney. NOTE: Sometimes there's a farmers market on the block that Cava is on, so don't be alarmed if the block is closed off to traffic. Just park in the parking structure at the edge of the farmers market, which happens to be across the street from Cava & walk over! read more

Everything is posted right in front of the glass so you can point it out. We came around 5 and the line was ridiculously long. There were only 2 workers were seemed frantic of keeping up with people and also mobile orders. The trash was piling up and the bathrooms needed a clean. I definitely would say they were short staffed. Probably waiting in line around 49 minutes just to get through. As for prices the standard bow can range from $15-$20 depending on any extra you get and what proteins you choose. Wish they gave alittle bigger portion scoops but the flavors were pretty tasty. Don't forget the pita side. I would say come not during peak hours or try to order ahead on the app with plenty of time before you come pick it up. read more

I hate eating salads, but I like CAVA. Their customizable bowls are reasonably priced ($10.67) and extrememly generous. My fave is the BYO Greens + Grains bowl, with the saffron basmati rice and super greens. If you like spicy, definitely order the harissa as one of your dips. I'm not a vegetarian, but often find myself ordering the roasted veggies as my protein because I enjoy eating roasted brussels sprouts, carrots and cauliflower (grilled chicken is also good). I go nuts with the toppings, which help add bulk to my salad bowl, and always add the pita crisps for that added crunch. My husband always gets the Greek Salad, which is not customizable. It's the same price but smaller than the BYO bowls (maybe because I add so much stuff to mine) and you don't get to add additional toppings or dips. You don't get the option for a side of pita for free with the Greek online either. (I'm always looking for maximum bang for my buck and would just build the Greek salad as a BYO Greens bowl and add on additional toppings). I've been ordering online and picking up, which is super easy because they have all the bags just sitting on the shelf. They get really busy during lunchtime, so the times get booked up quickly for online orders. Also, as with any takeout orders, it's a good idea to double check your bag as I've had dressings requested on the side missing, as well as that free pita. Indoor and outdoor seating available. FOOD: 9/10 Service 2/10 I never leave reviews but unfortunately I've been extremely dissatisfied by the customer service both times I've been. I finally was down in socal and cava had been on my list for ages, the first time i went was a couple months ago, it felt like every single time i asked for something on my bowl it was the biggest inconvenience in the world and the girl even cut me off when i wasn't done ordering which was just weird and awkward. Second time was just the other day service again felt super off, as a moody restaurant worker myself, trust me i get bad days but it gets to a point. She asked me what toppings and i contemplated for a bit and said cucumbers to which she THEN stated she had everything else but the cucumbers....then i go to pay....i only had cash. After i waited in line, dealt with bs service and was finally ready to eat my bowl, they tell me they're not accepting cash. NOT EVEN A SIGN? why not have a sign, or mention it before making my literal bowl presenting it to me then ripping it away from me :,( clearly the communication to customers with the staff that day as well as my previous visit were extremely dissatisfactory but a lot of people love the service it seems like based off other reviews. I'm not sure if both times i just got really unlucky, but I'm certainly never going to this location again. Justice for my bowl who doesn't accept cash that's crazy. This place reminded me of a Chipotle for Mediterranean food. There are so many options for proteins, carbs, and greens. All of the sauces taste amazing and you can get a free pita bread on the side! Mediterranean food, Chipotle style. Love this concept! You can build your own salads, pita sandwiches, grain bowls, etc. They have SO many different options. I tried their grain bowl with half chicken and half falafel. So tasty! I was in heaven with all the toppings. Pretty sure I got almost every topping! Their Shkug sauce was PHENOMENAL!! I come to red carpet events regularly right down the street and I'm so glad I gave this place a try.
