Rich Swanson (Manager) provided deplorable customer service. Swanson inflated his initial verbal estimate after discovering that we were doing a self-pay instead of utilizing our insurance. Swanson informed us that our rear truck emblem was on order. After almost 3 months, I went into a dealership and ordered the parts/received the parts without any issues in 10 days. After several visits and phone calls to this CDE store, Rich (Manager) never returned my calls and refused to come out of visits to his office to address the situation in person. I am incredibly disappointed with the disappointed or service I received from Swanson. I should not spend time out of my day writing this poor review. CDE Collision Center is a terrible place to bring your car . If your insurance lets you choose where to go, stray far from this business. My 19 Impreza got rear ended in 2020. Brought it to CDE to get new bumper and paint, it was good for a year. Then exactly at the year mark, the paint started peeling and chipping from where there is an edge where my paint is meeting my plastic diffuser for the car . This is all around the "seal" they said they made. They fix it this time by repainting the bumper . However , they left a tonnn of orange peel ( hazy paint) on the bumper and I had to ask them to fix it . They really didn't want to . So now it is 2021 in the second time I bring my car in . And it is for the exact same reason. The first time , they said it's because they had defective paint. This time , they say it's because the worker did not correctly cut the clear coat excess layer. Once again, they go to repaint it . But while they were reassembling the car, they attached my mudflaps back horribly with different bolts and screws that did not fix. They even cut holes into my car . So I tell them to replace all the parts to how they were before without rusty pieces, and they do so only after I asked. Again, there was some orange peel, but they fixed it only after I ASKED. And honestly the orange peel looks terrible. If you don't know what orange peel paint defect is, go search it up on google . So now it is 2022, and I speak with Steve Wilson. Up to this point I had always been working with Rich Swanson and Randy Schloon. Steve Wilson tells me " the issue is apparent, the bumper is defective and it doesn't have the proper adhesive from the factory. We will get a new bumper" . I come in to have them look at it , and he is with some guy named John Ciullo ( white male in his 40s short hair) and they look at my car. They notice I have a small ding on my bumper , and automatically deny the warranty claim. Ciullo blows it off the entire time saying it's not even that much peel and that it was caused by a small dent, althought the paint peel is all around the bumper ! Even though the paint was peeling all around the bumper, they do say they cannot get me the new bumper anymore because this time they believe the paint started peeling because of a small dent on my bumper . They even say the paint peel isn't that bad and to just keep it . That it won't get worse, but in the past two times it's happened they themselves even fixed it . They jsut got tired of doing the same effing job 3 times for free under their lifetime warranty which is a headache. As you can tell, this company just looks for excuses every different time, and they show no accountability. Oh and I never got a rental car either except the intial time. The rest of the 2 times my car was in the shop for a week- 2 weeks, I had to figure out my own transportation. Terrible company, and terrible workmanship. The paint always comes out looking like sh!t the first time until they buff out all the orange peel, and even then, the paint NEVER LASTED A YEAR because it keep peeling! The only way John tried to fox this was telling me to go buy a new bumper and they would repaint for free. Although THEY THEMSELVES SAID THEY WOULD REPLACE BUMPER AS IT WAS DEFECTIVE. The worst experience EVER. Very sloppy work. There was a large gap in my lift gate that I could fit my finger in, there were yellow & green wires sticking out of my tail gate, & my 4x4 emblem wasn't put back on my vehicle. I asked Steve (my contact person) at CDE about all of these issues & he stated that he didn't inspect the vehicle before he called me to say it was ready, & the wires in the tail gate were "ok, it won't hurt anything". The molding that sits on top of the glass on the lift gate were put on sloppily, and began to lift on the bottom. After dealing with all the back & forth, I asked to speak with a manager. The regional manager was very rude, kept talking over me & told me to deal with Steve on Monday. I have never dealt with so many people in management acting unprofessionally. This place is complete garbage, I took my brand new vehicle there for an insurance repair which took them nearly 3 months to repair then when I finally got it back there was damage done to one of my doors. i had them take the vehicle back to repair the damage done and when I got it back I noticed damage done to my dashboard, like they put some sort of sharp tool on the dash board that caused damage. I showed the manager the damage and the refused to take responsibility. Rather than arguing with the guy I just took it on the chin and left. geico had my car sent there for repairs from an accident. They left the back fender on the driver side unfixed saying they believed it was from a previous accident because there were other scratches around it. I explained that the scratches were from my slim garage but obviously the large crack wasn't. I even called the tow truck company that explained it was from the accident but CDE said they needed pictures to do anything. If I have another claim I refuse to have it done here again! read more

DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS CDE, I have had work done with CDE collision before and it was my first time booking an appointment with this location. I booked an appointment on February 5,2022 and the appointment was for the 8th of February. It was then cancelled and pushed back, I was not even notified until I showed up on the 8th for my appointment. They pushed my appointment back a month to the 8th of March. Since then my appointment was canceled today 3/7/22 without yet another notice, and when I called they seemed to have no answers other than repeating to me it was cancelled yet again. When I went in previously the girls at the reception desk were beyond rude, and had the worst attitude, I had been very patient up until now that this has happened yet again and when I questioned them and asked to speak to someone to get answers the receptionist on the phone said "I hope we don't get your business but let me pass you to someone". I got a free estimate on some minor collision repairs to my Ford Edge. Rich was thorough and provided a copy of what needed to be done. Got a second estimate, and CDE was cheaper. But after reading the wonderful reviews, I went with CDE. Scheduled an appointment. Dropped off in morning and it was estimated to be ready next morning. To my surprise, it was ready early afternoon. Looked great and they washed my car and cleaned the inside as well. Smelled like a new car when I entered my car. I would recommend this company without reservation. CDE on Western told me my car would be ready on Tuesday (8 days after drop-off). I called Tuesday, because I had to return my rental car (for which I was paying out-of-pocket). After I returned my rental car, I was told by CDE's Geico rep that my car had to be "re-assembled" and would not be ready until Wednesday. I was guaranteed a phone call Wednesday morning. I never heard from them until I called Wednesday afternoon, at which time they then said, "I'm sorry, but we are still waiting for a part from the manufacturer." I was heated, because the last information I was given simply said that they were waiting to reassemble. So, I still came in, asked someone to take responsibility for the lack of communication, and no one would. Even the manager said, "I would like to say that it's my fault...but it's honestly not my fault." I was ready to punch him in the face, but I kept my cool. Any manager who pushes responsibility onto another person deserves to be severed from that agency. I ended up renting ANOTHER car out-of-pocket, and now it's Friday (almost two weeks after drop-off), and I am still waiting to get my car back. When I called today they said that they are almost done--just polishing, and they will call me back soon to let me know it's ready. I won't hold my breath. I should have gone to Guy & Sons on Van Buren. Although the people there were not necessarily "courteous", they got the job done in a timely fashion and my car never shined better. CDE, if I never hear your name again it will be too soon. I'm nautious just knowing that I still have to give them my deductible. I wish I could tow my car ANYWHERE ELSE right now. Now, I haven't seen the work they did--it could be good. But I would rather take a lower grade workmanship rather than deal with the BS they put me through. read more

Where is the negative stars selection?? DO NOT TRUST THIS PLACE. Dropped off my car for rear end damage and came out missing a Mac Book Pro from my car. Ok OK, stupid me for leaving it in there. Honestly I forgot I left it under my seat. Well, I trusted them so that is why I did not call them to come grab it from them. Since it was a preferred GEICO shop, I trusted it! WRONG. After i picked up my car, I checked for it. It was gone. Everything from under my seat was thrown around my back seat so that triggered me to look. GONE. I called and they were very very rude about the situation they were very nice up front but turned mean right when I told them about what happened!. I trusted them not to steal anything from my car. I was in my right mind, not drunk, sleep or on the phone. Any whoo, Tony, The CDE inspector has called me twice to keep me updated about my car and Alex, The Enterprise rental man, he was nervous about renting a Hyundai Tucson to me, considering I had just drove my Mazda 3 into a stationary object, we joked about it and Alex is very easy on the eyes, so I didn't mind, lol. Unless you have insurance....DO NOT GO HERE. I was in an accident a few years back and decided to have some work done to my car. They had my car for a few days just to give me an estimate. I paid over 3 grand for minor work. I went back about 2 weeks later because my car was making a noise and the guy got all offensive and said he had no idea nothing to do with their work. I have no idea about cars but if it was his fault or not he couldve have offered some type of help. A month later I went back because the whole bottom of the bumper fell off along with the wheel covering. I had the opposite wheel covering replaced along with that part. I go in again and the same guy says he has nothing to do with it he did not replace the piece, I broke it, and that all those parts are made like crap and break. No help and not the answer I wanted to hear. I would think he would offer to do more work... In the end spent A LOT of money and did not have a good experience. read more

Took my daughters 2017 Jeep Wrangler here after she was involved in an accident. During the whole emotional ordeal I was very appreciative of the updates via text messaging and the personal phone calls with updates on the status of her vehicle. Scheduled an appointment to get a written estimate on a 2017 Jeep. Once there at the shop when informed that the vehicle was getting fixed out of pocket they started giving us the run around on why the couldn't give us a written estimate. Since the estimate is for court documents against the other driver involved in the crash C.D.E. stated they did not want to get involved, which is bs because Gerber collision on 63rd and the shop across from C.D.E. did the estimate with out a problem. They were denying services to us based on the fact that we are getting our own car parts and basically just needed the estimate and labor work therefore they wouldn't make more money off of us through car parts and labor. This shop only cares about the money and not the clients actual needs. Even after we told the guy that we had the money ready to get the vehicle fixed they denied us the estimate. Then they had the nerve to call us and ask if we still wanted to come back. NO THANKS! read more

This place of business is now a typical high production get it done asap body shop.After 4 months of completion,the paint/primer has shrunk and you can see sand scratches in the paintwork.The trim they removed is coming loose because it was bent when removed.Whoever sanded the vehicle sanded it improperly and when you look down the side,it's "waiver than an ocean".Will not be returning for future repairs. read more

Unfortunately, I've been here twice in the last few months to get my car repaired. I scraped the entire right side of my car against a van and then my car was stolen. They take care of you at this place! Im in school and it's hard for me to get away, but they let me bring my car in early and drop it off so that I could be called later about the assessment. My rental car was waiting for me and the staff was super nice! You can follow your car's progress online and they give you 24 hrs with the rental if you can't make it in to pick up your car as soon as they call. My car was flawless you can't even tell that there was work done to it. They do a really nice job! No one likes to visit these places but if you have to, then Honestly I don't see how you can't go to CDE! read more

Guys! think thrice before you take your expensive car to this junkyard...they promise to fix as per OEM standard's and give you a lifelong warranty....its all BS I frd had an accident with my car..and Geico routed me to these people. I only had to pay my deductible... but they charged my insurance 3/4 the cost of my car to fix it!!!! their labor cost is outrageous Once i took my car back it failed the same afternoon...stalled completely in 3hrs after picking it up. They were not available to pick up my call..i had to pay for it to get towed in 5degree Chicago weather. This is my second bad experience with them, first time they fixed my broken window. Quick, professional service! I was in a three car pile up at the end of December. The car at fault had Geico insurance. I was very leary of things being handled right. To my surprise, the insurance company had my car towed to CDE. The adjuster called and went over my damages and sent me the estimate. I had almost $4,000 in damage. Since the repairs were being covered by the insurance i gave to ok to go ahead and fix my cars. They called me every couple of days to let me know the progress. I have never dealt with a collision center and didn't know what to expect. My car is 21 years old and was doubtful they could fix and paint it so that it matched the original color on my car. The best car shop ever!! First used this car shop when I had a hit and run which damage half of my Mercedes Benz car. This car shop took good care of my car and help me through the time I didn't have a car. The manager Rich is the best person. I had minor problems after getting back the car but a phone call to Rich; he took care of everything. On top of that he make sure I get a car wash every time I came here to fix my car. If I could give this place 0 stars I would! DO NOT take your car here unless you really don't care how it looks. I went here for a simple bumper replacement from an accident on my Infiniti g37; a job that they said would take 2 days. They had my car for 10! Got it back with scratches on the fender, and a misaligned hood. They said they would buff out the scratches but ended up burning the paint! They had to then repaint the fender; this took another week! Got it back with bubbles along the edges of the fender and overspray of paint on my door and hood now! They tried to remove the overspray and ended burning the paint on the hood; now have to get my whole hood painted! The whole time through this process they have a bad attitude. They even had an attitude with my insurance agent which is why I ended up going to a new shop.... read more

The office staff was friendly and professional and the gentleman who looked over my car and filled out my paperwork was as well. The worst service on Saturdays!!!!!! I went to this location for a "free" estimate & the women told me they don't do estimates on Saturday's!!!!! Whats the point because the weekend is the busiest! !!!! Also they have very poor customer service. I myself have been in the customer service industry for over 20 years I know disrespectful & unprofessional service when I see it!!!!! She was on a personal phone call when I walked in & didn't even end her call to assist me!! I live on the North Side, but for the past 8 years I have brought my cars for repair always to CDE, even though it is located on the South side. The first time I went there I figured that CDE being a contract shop for GEICO suggested that it had high professional standards. I found this to be very true. In addition, they were very friendly, courteous and fast. The General Manager, Rich Swanson, even helped occasionally to calm me down when I was very upset about "the other driver". The GEICO adjusters, including the present adjuster, Chris Petigout, were always very fair and eager to maintain a good relationship with GEICO customers. The quality of the work was always impeccable. I recommend this company quite enthusiastically. read more
