I'm not usually the type of person to leave a low review or write reviews, but today's experience has left me baffled and upset. Much like the other one star review, i felt unwelcome and wasn't greeted coming in. That should have been already a red flag, but because I was referred by coworker of mine, I thought it'd be nice if I were to support a small business in the area! I've always had a bad experience with haircuts (maybe I didn't communicate properly in the past), so I thought this time it would be best to show her a picture and keep my words short (u-shape and long layers). She took one good look at it and proceeded to cut my hair. I trusted her and based on the reviews on here, I didn't feel the need to worry about how the cut will turn out. The sides of my hair were short and had more of a choppy layer when I wanted more of a face framing layer (attached picture). I paid $40 for a wash&cut (no longer $30) plus a generous tip and left in hopes I will grow into the new cut. Hours flew by and I was still not happy with my cut, I decided that I'd give her an opportunity to fix the cut instead of writing a bad review. I called the next morning and told her that it wasn't like the picture and if she can fix the cut and just cut it evenly across so it didn't look like I had a mullet. She was defensive on the phone and said I showed her a picture and that she didn't have time to fix it that day. I asked her what other days she was available and was willing to accommodate with her schedule. Instead, she sounded like she didn't want to fix anything. She ended up calling me 20 minutes later to tell me to come in the same day so she can fix it, but the bad experience doesn't end here... I came in to have my hair fixed and she was not happy. I was able to tell she probably had mention to her coworkers that I was coming in to get my hair fixed as they all peeked through from the other room(possibly to get a better look of the cut she gave me previously). The environment was unfriendly and she didn't seem like she wanted to fix my hair and rushed through it. As both sides of my hair were butchered off from the layers and only had length from the back, I decided to just cut my hair to the same length as my longest layer. She didn't end up charging me to fix my hair, but overall, she never apologized and instead blamed it on the picture. I came in with my hair past my chest and ended up leaving with hair to my shoulders. I should have been the one upset since I came in with balayage hair and left with most of it cut off. P.S. I've attached the picture of what I asked for and unfortunately, was not able to get a picture of cut she did previous. However, I was able to find a picture that was similar to the cut. read more

Definitely before 2014 because when I had surgery and couldn't wash my own hair, I came to Ngoc and she would wash my hair (THE BEST HAIR WASHER). I'll admit... I fucked up once underestimating Ngoc's ability to do blonde.. I honestly never asked or knew she did blonde and wanted to try some new girl because my friend recommended me... and let me tell you.. Worst decision ever!!! because of that place I had to cut my hair above my shoulders because they were completely dead!!! Jesus Christ, took years for it to grow out and ever since... I've never betrayed Ngoc once since... and just come here to do black because I'm so traumatized from bleaching my hair that I will NOT dye my hair anything but black! Main thing I come to Ngoc is her JAPANESE STRAIGHTENING!!! She's the queen of Japanese straightening and the cheapest place I know of. Cheap and its actually straight... amazingly healthy sleek shiny straight. Price varies by how much hair you have and the length of it. It does take long.. 5-6 hrs long.. but Ngoc is so meticulous and makes sure it comes out super straight and she makes your time and money worth it! read more

I personally find it really hard to have a go-to hairdresser in Rosemead-San Gabriel area because most places either overcharge or don't do a good job. Fortunately, I saw Ngoc's work on Yelp and decided to give her a try. She is experienced, skilled, and detail oriented. I had wanted a pixie cut for a long time; however, my previous hairstylists always convinced me go longer to a medium or long bob. I guess pixie hair cut does need great confidence for the job (right/wrong?). Anw, Ngoc is the first one ever to encourage me to try it out after carefully explaining to me the care process for the hair to stay nice and bluffy. It was my first time coming here and let me just say...As soon as I walked in nobody greeted me, that's a red flag right there and I should of just left. Second, the owner was very very rude only speaking in her language. So much for feeling welcomed! While the order and her helper were shampooing my hair the owner took a call I'm pretty sure it was a new customer, she then said "no speak English" and hung up on them! I don't know if the owner has had a bad day that day but that is now way to treat a customer. Overall DO NOT COME HERE unless you want to be treated like dirt. Smh do better owner!! You should take some customer service workshop to help with that attitude of yours. Will not be coming here ever again. read more

Extremely happy I took a chance on this place! I came to this place with mainly dark hair and some faded highlights, but left with a gray ombré. Ngoc was patient with my hair as the entire process took over 7 hours. I've never had a hair color change this drastic, but she did not disappoint! I also really liked the way she cut my hair. Took a chance on Ce Li for an updo appointment. Glad I did, Ngoc did a great job finding a look that would fit me. I didn't come in with a style I wanted but instead asked her to use her best judgement to style my hair. I loved that she was able to address my biggest needs without my having to say so. I have very straight hair, which leaves me with poor volume. She went right to work, crimped and teased my hair to build up the areas that would make my hair look fuller. this is the most awkward and rude salon i've ever been to when i walked in, i wasn't greeted, instead she looked at me and turned away. i already thought she was kinda rude. but anyway i told her i wanted to get a color treatment. and sat down. WITHOUT EVEN ASKING ME WHAT COLOR I WANTED TO DYE MY HAIR.
