Lovely restaurant with great outdoor seating, relaxed atmosphere, amazing food, and the friendliest service staff ever. We came here as a group of four about half an hour before their first closing at 3pm. We were seated immediately outside and given menus. Our waitress was really sweet and was quick to give recommendations. My friend and I wanted iced tea but weren't sure if we would like it, and she immediately brought us samples. A small gesture goes a long way! I got the Ceasar salad with chicken and it was amazing. Huge portion of chicken relative to the lettuce (a lot of places skimp on the meat and just put more greens). The chicken was prepared perfectly, very flavorful, slightly crispy on outside and soft and tender on the inside. Fiancé got the tortelloni and loved it. Creamy and delicious. We were looking for a Sunday breakfast spot in Solvang and stumbled upon this place while walking around town. One of the reasons for the rating is that we could not figure out if they were open or not, the signage was really confusing and they were otherwise empty. Upon asking, we were offered a table on the patio and promptly seated. Several people came after us, some were seated, and others turned away. It was so odd. Depending on who the perspective guest spoke to, the answer changed on whether or not they were open for ordering. The service after we were seated was okay, and the food was honestly quite good. It was really nice to sit outside and enjoy the ambiance of Solvang in a quiet courtyard. Overall, we had a good experience here, but the service made us think twice about returning. If you're looking for a quiet breakfast spot, and can be seated, give this place a try. Otherwise, they need to sort out their operating hours for a more consistent approach to their customers. read more

Delicious is understatement. If you are a pizza and pasta lover this is a must. My husband and I ate here on a Saturday night. The service was fast and our food was fresh. I ordered a margarita pizza and my husband ordered the chicken Alfredo pasta. We stopped by Solvang and decided to eat something fresh and light. I ordered the Cesar shrimp salad. It was amazing!!! The shrimp had so much flavor and the romaine lettuce was fresh!! Not to mention the portion for this salad was enough to be a main entree. Definitely recommend and will be coming back myself next time we visit solvang. First of all, I believe Yelp reviews should reflect food and service. That being said, I'm not taking stars away for the owner taking a front parking spot that any business owner know should be for their paying customers. I do understand parking is at a premium, but if he/she is there early enough to park in front of the restaurant, they're early enough to park around the corner in a decent spot. Just an arrogance that's always bugged me. Moving on. Service was terrific! All the girls were attentive and very sweet. Chose the bar seating at the street that was very nice. We ordered the Bucatini Bolognese and Beet Salad. Both were good, but lacked sauce/dressing and needed seasoning. Nothing to send anything back for, but no reason to rush back, either. My food was literally rotten!! My husband and I and some friends came to this restaurant today, and our server Perla was very nice. However the food was not so great. The pizza was ok, but very floury and would get all over you. And my husbands risotto was very grainy and had an odd smell to it. And when we ordered desert I ordered a tiramisu in a cup, and when I took a bite I had to spit it out. It tasted like sour curdled milk and everyone at the table including my waitress when I brought it to her attention said it smelled like it had gone sour. It was a nice restaurant and nice people but I was VERY disappointed with the food quality and the fact that my food was not only bad but rotten. I must admit that this was one of the worst Italian restaurants I have ever been to. We were seated on the patio and it was a chilly day. The service was slow. The locals were treated better than the visitors. I ordered a burger (My uncle did too) that I asked for medium well. It came rare! The server (Perla M) never came and asked how the meal was. Great food, we had the Funghi Pizza & the Spaghetti Bolognese and it was great! Service was just fine, seemed that they were a bit under staffed, but they made every effort to help everyone as soon as they could. We sat outside, which was very nice, once it cooled down. We had a lovely getaway to Solvang to celebrate the Christmas holidays, but our experience at Cecco's was not one to write home about. For our last night there we were looking for some pizza and wine. Tower Pizza's stove broke so the Visitors center recommended Cecco's. We walked past the restuarant and the ambiance and vibe looks amazing so we made plans to get there at 5pm to be one of the first in for dinner. We arrived at 5pm on the dot and the line was about 30 people deep. We figured the restuarant was just opening so they would get the line moving sitting people quickly but boy was I wrong. There was very little management of the flow of seating and getting people in and out of the restaurant. The hostess was doing triple duty - hosting, bussing (clearing out tables, putting the table cloths back on and getting it ready for the next guests which SLOWED everything down) and serving food. They only had 2 other servers that we could see and what seemed like one other person helping. We stood in that line for one hour and half before being seated. Once it got past 40 minutes of waiting it just seemed silly to leave and have wasted all that time although many behind us in line did just that. The patrons in line would see tables needing to be bussed and the poor hostess trying to serve, host and clear and place tables. It was a disaster and I truly felt bad for her. That wait was not her fault, but managements for not hiring more staff or training these kids (they were all very young) on best practices. What's worse is once we finally got seated all I wanted was a glass of wine to take the edge off and to order my food. We order the bolognese to which the server tells me they have run out. Remind you, the restaurant has been open for an hour and change on a December weekend when the town is flooded with tourists celebrating Julefest and they are not stocked with one of the most commonly asked for dishes at an Italian restaurant. I was floored. I ordered my wine hoping a little buzz would make the evening better. Waited patiently for my server to bring and he never showed up again. I saw him bustling around taking other orders but he never made it back to our table excpet to give us the bill. I finally flagged down the poor hostess who went to look for my wine to only come back and tell me they were out of Pinot Grigio. This is about 20 mins into us being seated. An Italian restaurant in wine counry out of wine and pasta. I just want to go on record saying the hostess deserves a raise and acknowledgement. She was hustling, doing 10 times what the two young male servers were doing, getting complaints from people waiting in line and always had a good attitude and smile on her face. I think the owner of this restaurant needs to really do some serious training and hiring especially for busy weekends like this if they dont want to come off looking like amateur hour. read more

With everything getting cold, after awkwardly waiting for the seventh meal, we decided to start eating. Half way through our meal, the seventh meal finally arrived. Wonderful atmosphere of partially dim lights, attentive and friendly servers and a great central location beckoned us to this delicious and truly memorable dinner. With Chef David in the kitchen, we trusted the skill and praises of the locals and asked for him to serve us dishes with pairings that he enjoyed cooking. Appetizer: A mouth-watering, flavorful, vibrant, sexy seafood ceviche. The last time I was intoxicated by an appetizer of this level, I was on my honeymoon, in Naples, eating at a Michelin-star restaurant. Seriously. Wine: David paired our dishes with a prosecco that was dry, with slight floral notes and just the right amount of flirtatious bubbles that danced along the front of my tongue and ticked my nose. Dishes/Dessert: The bolognese was so rich, balanced, and so damn tasty, I didn't want to share a bite. The wild boar couldn't have been more tender. The sauce oozed love, and patience, one of which had simmered and been given time for all the flavors and spices to come together into a harmony with the pasta cooked perfectly al-dente. Our tiramisu was soaked in an earthy, strong espresso, the cream and cake proportions right on track with one another, and beautiful plating for dessert. The service at Cecco was outstanding, from the minute we walked in and were greeted, to our server (I wish I wrote her name down) who really took her time to talk with us, share about herself, and what she enjoys on the menu and why she loves the food at Cecco as well. ALL IN ALL: The difference between amazing food and really good food is the combination of an emotional movement and connection between the harmony in the ingredients, and the love put into them. Every dish was moving, exciting, and full of sensory evocations. I would love to continue seeing Chef David's creations go up on the menu more and more, and can't wait to go back. read more

We've been to Solvang many times and we wanted to try something a little different. When we saw the quaint little Italian restaurant with the patio seating and reviewed the menu, we decided to stay for lunch. At the door, we were told to wait while they got tables ready. After 5-8 minutes, a server (?) came by asking if we were waiting to be seated. We said yes and she stated something about how extremely crazy busy they were. Honestly, it didn't seem that busy. Anyway, we were seated in the patio and our server took orders for drinks and then food. I ordered the turkey panini (real Italian right? :P) and hubby got the Tortellini. The meals were not brought out at the same time and the side Cesar Salad that came with my panini tasted so much better than the panini itself; the turkey was almost flavorless. Hubby's tortellini was tasty but the portion size was not enough for the price. The service was only so so. Server didn't seem really interested in serving. We didn't get asked to have our waters refilled. I was disappointed in my sandwich. At 11 bucks at least get the turkey sandwich right! Nice outdoor seating. Beware...they only have bottled water. This concerns me that they're not being responsible with the amount of waste they're creating. Why not serve tap water in a glass like all the other restaurants? I'll tell you why...money. They want to be able to charge you for water. Oh and a canned soda is $4.
