I'm newer to Solvang. I'm also gluten/dairy/meat free. I am used to restaurants (especially Italian restaurants) not having many options for me. I was craving spaghetti and didn't feel like making my own dinner. So I took a chance and called Cecco to ask if they had a GF pasta option and they said YES!! I ordered it with their basic red sauce, and got fettuccine for my partner. I'm not kidding when I say that it was probably the best GF pasta dish I've ever eaten. It wasn't spaghetti noodles, but that didn't matter. (It was a rigatoni/penne type noodle) The sauce!! It was simple but the flavors were life affirming!! SO TASTY!!! Very disappointed! Rude service. When we arrived at least 60% of the tables were empty. I observed 4 employees, it took around 30-40 minutes for us getting a table. The waitress was literally upset about "cleaning" the table, she also literally threw the menus on the table, her attitude reflects the type of training they receive from the management of that place. Came for lunch, shared a margarita pizza and Caesar salad for 3 people and it was a good amount of food. Both were tasty, I think I actually liked the salad more than the pizza. We had a car group stop for lunch. One, no separate tickets, but they could do 3 separate tickets but not a 4 th??? Which i could not understand. A couple of other things, they ran out of Turkey for sandwiches, so 3 people did not get served. Only six chairs per table, I guess that explains the 4 th tickets. Every ticket had a 6.67 gratuity, even if it was a $12 sandwich. I will never go back to this place. read more

See, this is the attitude we got when we arrived, excited and happy to be at Cecco for our Thanksgiving dinner. The hostess was aggressive and rude - a terrible way to greet guests. She claimed we had no reservation. She claimed she'd had no bookings for two people. When the man standing beside her asked me for proof and I showed him, she changed her story. Suddenly, she said she'd called me at 2.38pm to cancel. The man said he would honor our reservation and I thought this was wonderful. He said we couldn't order food but he would make something and bring it to us. We both said, "As long as it doesn't involve meat, we'd be happy to accept." We are both vegetarians and said so. I appreciate the Herculean effort it must have taken him to bang some lettuce into a couple of bowls but sheesh...now the hostess called us THREE times? She did not. And we asked for no meat. I was a long time costumer of this restaurant, always stopping in when in Solvang, until now. I will not give my business to nor will I recommend this restaurant again. As the town in general closes up early, like always we made a reservation to ensure a table. We spoke to a very nice women, and had no problem. My family came a few minutes before our reservation and the staff seemed to be closing up the restaurant. The "manager" said they were out of much of their food and are closing up early. I told her we had reservations and no one called us to cancel. She then told me they had no reservations...that they don't do that. I am understanding of restaurant issues, however this was bad business not to call, leaving a family with kids in a bind at dinner time. The "manager" acted very aloof and accusatory. This is our first time coming to Solvang, beautiful place! It take us 40min to decide what and were to eat, since we have a toddler with us we decided to eat here. It's 6pm and this place started to be crowded . We order some warm Basket of Ciabatta Evoo and balsamic vinegar for appetizer to start with. However they server the warm basket ciabatta with the main dish witch is not good it should be the starter. For the main dish we order Chicken Alfredo , pasta is al dente witch is perfect taste so 'GOOD' , the plate is HUGe but the serving is small amount. We want more but we still have more food. We order some Carbonara with Sunny Egg on top , we didn't like it much as the Chicken Alfredo. My best friend husband ordered some Bolognes pasta and according to him he like it much and he eat all of them. And of course we need to try the WOOD FIRED PIZZA " POLPETTE" it come with meat balls , pomodoro sauce, parmigiana with oregano. Taste good but the meatballs are not much as what i expected. In 1 slice there only 2 small meatballs. All and all food are good but the serving are too small. One order is only good for 1 serving be mindful that all pasta are good for 1 serving only (no sharing lol) . Pizza are good for 3 -4 people . Be mindful that they only serve bottle water so expect that there is extra charged for that. I only see 2 server they both doing multi tasking . We all appreciate you guys for working so hard . The restaurant is located right next to the park & parking lot. Very convenient. Since we were there for lunch, they only had outside seating available. It was a warm day in May (76 degrees) with the sun beating down on us. But luckily, we had an umbrella that covered most of our party. I wonder how they manage this when it's hotter out. Would be nice if they had a tarp over us. I know it's still Spring and all, but it's difficult to enjoy your food when you are sweating all over. Make sure you order the Mussels and ask for bread as they don't usually server bread during lunch service. I ordered the Al Pesto. I was good and the pasta was definitely fresh as it had that bounce/chewiness to it. I had to add salt to it because it was a little on the bland side. We were in Solvang during the Christmas holiday, between Xmas and New Years - before we go into the review on Cecco - be aware that Solvang is CRAZY busy during this time. Depending on what ranking you look at, Solvang is in the top 30 cities to visit during the holiday. This will be a factor later in the review. So my wife and I headed to Cecco because we had heard good things about the food and had a nice Axxess deal and it was expiring soon. As we walked in, we were warned that it was super busy (see above) and that we could either sit outside now (cold) or wait for a table. We decided to wait and after 10 minutes, we were seated. The inside of Cecco has some cramped seating with a fair about of noise when it's busy so go in with that knowledge. It didn't really bother us so we stayed inside. The hostess warned us that service might be a little slow because they were a server down, but she would get us water and bread right away. We appreciated the warning. Sure enough, no bread and water. But, once our server came, she was incredibly good. We ordered wine and got the wine and our bread and water quickly after that. I had the Tortelloni which was perfectly prepared, well seasoned and flavorful. The short rib filling of the ravioli melted in my mouth. My wife ordered the aglio y olio with bucatini pasta which was again, perfectly prepared. Cecco knows how to prepare pasta. The food all came quickly after we ordered it - not to fast, not too slow. All in all, we had a very good meal here and would recommend. I think going to Cecco in the Spring, Summer, early Fall timeframe gives you the great outside seating to complete the experience. read more

NO! All the food was bland... and very overpriced. They even forgot to add the sauce that comes on my pasta. So they took it back, poured sauce on top of my chicken and then returned it to me. Looked very sloppy and didn't taste good. Everyone's dish tasted bland and seemed rushed. We also didn't get a bread basket. -Our waitress was okay but the others seemed very rude. This was a bad experience... I ordered the salmon and, although the presentation was great, the big salmon fillet was completely raw in the middle. I don't know you, but the only seared and raw in the middle piece of fish I have eaten is tuna, as long as we are not talking about sushi. To make it worst, I am pregnant and not allowed to it raw fish. I believe if that is the way the dish is suppose to be, the waitress should give you a heads up since salmon is not traditionally cooked rare. The pork was not any good either. The only reason I'm giving two stars is because the waitress was sweet. The food pretty much sucked. Calamari and pizza were good I guess BUT pastas were just bad. Pesto pasta was flavorless- and when I mentioned that, they said I should have added protein to it and it would be better.... really?? Ok. Tortelloni was the best one we had, but was cold when it came out. Puttanesca was also just ok. Our food took forever to come out and it was not worth it. They brought out the pizza first, but then the pastas came out like another 15-20 mins later. The waitress said they were serving a big party which is why ours took forever. Overall, the food was flavorless and small portions for the price. Meals did not include a side, side salad, or protein. Best thing we had was the water and beers. You can find that elsewhere. When I'm paying $19-$26 a plate, I expect the food to at least have salt/ some flavor, and be hot. Take your money elsewhere. Not worth it. I won't be recommending this place or returning. read more

From the many options to choose from when walking around Solvang, this place was actually not that buys when we came. We got served immediately and our orders were taken also quickly. Our drinks came in the form of canned sodas with glass cups. Our food then did not come out at the same time. Myself, my dad and my brother got our food beforehand. Then an almost ten minutes later my moms plate came. She ordered the lasagna which they said takes more preparation time, so we understood. Bothe these issues could be improved. I got the ravioli and it was amazing! The portion size was good also. Upon picking up our silverware and dirty dishes the waitress almost dropped the knife on my moms face.
