Pizza
Chad G.

Food was average, and too salty. Fettucini Alfredo was way undercooked, pizza was soggy, ceaesar salad was drenched in dressing. Inside was a bit dingy and in need of some upkeep - Although when we were there it was a Friday night and the place was empty, so maybe the lack of atmosphere made it seem worse. This place isn't 'Bad', it just all feels half-assed, and we all walked away wishing we had tried another spot.

Cecco's Caesar and Caprese salad were the best. Part of our party got lost but Cecco's incredibly kind team seated us right away. Party of four with four dogs on a hot sunny weekend afternoon and got us ice teas fast. Thank you for making our surprise discovery of Solvang, California so delightful!

Cecco Ristorante is conveniently located right next to Solvang Park. After watching the holiday synchronized musical light show at the downtown park, we stepped over to Cecco's for dinner. There was a line to get in; the food arrived fairly quickly after ordering. One has a choice of indoor or outdoor seating. Since it was a relatively nice evening, we sat outside on the covered patio. There are patio heaters that kept any chill at bay. Our server was attentive and engaging. She took our drink and appetizer orders and returned shortly after for our main selections. For the appetizer, we started with an order of their octopus. It was attractively served with small pools of salsa verde and EVOO, and topped with a few sprigs of fresh oregano. It was quite good, with a nice char and flavor. There is a charge for bread service, however we did not order any as we decided to order a wood fired pizza as an entrée. For our entrées, we ordered the Black Cod and a Margherita pizza. The Black Cod was miso marinated and served over ginger risotto and braised cabbage. It was cooked to perfection. Sadly, the Margherita pizza was a basic pizza-chain style cheese pizza covered in shredded mozzarella instead of being topped with pieces of ovalini mozzarella cheese. The pizza was finished with halved cherry tomatoes. The crust was very thin and lacking. Overall, the pizza was disappointing. We enjoyed dining al fresco on their patio.

Perfect, straight from the oven bread.

Thursday, 12-19-2024: In between watching the spectacular synchronized musical light show at Solvang Park we realized we were hungry. This eatery was conveniently close by. We were seated outdoors right away by a lovely, friendly & outgoing blonde hostess. She asked if we wanted the heaters on but it really wasn't that cold plus I tend to run very warm (thanks hot flashes!). Our young server, Ava, came over to introduce herself. She was very cordial, attentive, and engaging. We first ordered watermelon Italian sodas that were refreshing and tasty. Then the bread was brought out straight from the oven with the flavorful EVOO dipping sauce. Yum! My Eggplant Parmigiana and hubby's Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo came out piping hot. Wow! These dishes were so flavorsome! The Pomodoro sauce was a winner! This is the best Eggplant Parmigiana dish I have ever eaten. Hubby was saying the same about his meal, as well! It was so filling and delectable! These entrees were certainly worth the money! As the evening wore on a cold wind blew in, which required the use of several heaters! The staff ensured we were comfortable, which we appreciated. This was a great first experience and hope they're still here when we return.

Chicken Alfredo & Turkey Panini

Alejandro's service was amazing! Food is a bit pricey for what it is. Chicken Alfredo was a 7/10 and the Turkey Panini was a solid 8/10. The ambiance is casual, nice sitting area outside. We noticed the pricing that's listed outside is different from the original menu, couple dollars more.

Pesto with goat cheese pizza

Came early on Saturday. Opens at 12. They sat us early and brought drinks. Ordered bruschetta and a Pizza with pesto and goat cheese. Both were very good. Very friendly, fast service and good food. What else do you need?

The service was great especially how busy they were! Thank you Liz! The food was tasty as well!

Incredible service from the waitress, bus boys, to the owner. Located in the heart of Solvang, Cecco provides authentic Italian food made with love and care. For a party of two, we each ordered the Arnold Palmer (made with fresh lemonade) along with the chicken Caesar salad - top three Caesar salad I've had - as well as the Bianca pizza (mozzarella, ricotta, artichoke, garlic, red onion, and baby arugula). The pizza was flavorful with the combination of all the toppings but not one overpowered the other. Highly recommend sitting in the outside patio to take in the ambiance and enjoy the weather.

One of my favorite places to eat when visiting Solvang, love their pizza and food is always fresh , we also enjoyed our lunch hour especially because of having such a fun and caring waitress. Her name is Yessenia . She was fast and in accommodating few tables at once .

Absolutely amazing dining experience at this quaint Italian restaurant in the heart of Solvang, California. David the owner was personable and hospitable, and even provided a complementary salmon platter as an appetizer. We will definitely be back in a big shout out to his staff who was attentive polite and had a servant attitude.

Fettuccine Alfredo (chili flakes added on myself)

Janice is a peach! Service is amazing and food is delicious. Definitely authentic Italian food. Choice of indoor or outdoor option with a beautiful surrounding and design. 10/10 would recommend.

It was a generous serving and tasted so light & fresh. I enjoyed the delicious lasagna while my friend raved about her short rib ravioli. When we arrived, several tables were occupied but when we left at 7:15 pm, the patio was full. The ambiance outside was gorgeous. Here's what we ordered: Cesar Salad - good just ask for the dressing on the side as it was overdressed. Mozzarella sticks - didn't have the cheese pull I was expecting, I did appreciate that it wasn't as salty as most places, however, it was more breaded than cheese. Penne with sausage and fungi - good! To be honest it was even better tasting as leftovers, as the flavor was soaked in by the pasta. Sole fish with lemon sauce - came with pasta, my husband said it was exactly, if not more, what he wanted! He would order this again. Bread - free for first serving, charge after. It was definitely a bit on the harder side. Overall, everything was pretty okay. It wasn't memorable or bursting with flavor. It was simple and clean and that can definitely be what someone is looking for in Italian food!

We walked in early, asked to sit at the bar, and our reservation was honored. The restaurant was bustling but service did not feel rushed or hurried. We were lucky to dine at the bar; Mr. Maciel took truly excellent care of us the whole evening, remembering every request and taking care of every detail for our dining experience. His wine recommendations were also spot on. We decided to focus on three different pastas and were not disappointed. Highly recommended. My absolute favorite was the Wild Mushroom Pappardelle but honestly, every pasta was delicious. Portions were generous and leftovers were promptly boxed up to take home. Folks clearly schedule special dinners here, warranting dressing up, but casual diners such as ourselves also felt comfortable. I'd recommend dining at the bar for exceptional service and a front-line seat to all the action.

Settle down into a comfy couch or a kitschy spindle-backed wooden chair and get ready for friendly service and a nice meal that won't leave you hungry with good portion sizes. Came on a Wednesday night in July, and here's what we ate: 1. Manhattan Clam Chowder. Special soup of the day, this soup was more watery and less tomatoey than expected from a classic Manhattan. Thus, reads more cioppino. However, the utterly ample amount of chunky potato and clams was on point along with the flavor. Total recommend. 2. Mushroom Bucatini. Excellent dish. Comes with a truffle cream sauce with two types of mushrooms that combine to make a delicious savory dish. Noodles were al dente. While fhe choice of ricotta was okay, I think it might be more elevated with a generous portion of mizithra cheese ala the Old Spaghetti Factory. Still recommend. 3. Calamari. Star of the show with crunchy tentacles available. Super crispy batter. And it comes with fried lemons, jalapeños, and onions. What a mix! While it comes with an aioli, which is good for the onions and lemons, for sure, the move is to order marinara dipping sauce. Definite recommend. 4. Bread. So it's a baguette with chimichurri. Weird because they spread it on the bread already on THE OUTSIDE, not inside like you would think. You might be tempted to think: why not just put into a cup so that you can spread it yourself? And don't we normally put it on a meat like steak? But be not be alarmed. While these are questionable plating choices, you may ask for just the bread itself, which is great and worth getting. It's got a crisp outer shell and softer inside, which is a perfect pair for your chowder or even some marinara. Actual recommend. Also comes with soft butter spread, pickled onions. So should you come? Yes. Even if you don't stay at The Landsby, which is a nice hotel, by the way. But don't take my word for it. Come on over for dinner sometime and take in the vibe and good eats when next you visit Solvang town.

The batter was very very light and crunchy. They only thing I would say is it was a little oily. The tartar sauce was good, nothing unusual. There was a side of fresh greens, not cole slaw. They were very lightly dressed and exceptionally fresh, like just picked from someone's garden. If you love cole slaw you may be disappointed, if you love fresh greens you will be happy. My husband got a bloody Mary. It was quite tasty. Spicy and you could taste the horseradish. The olives were really good (I'm an olive lover). Coffee was excellent. In fact, I professionally moonlight as Historian specializing in medieval English history! This means that I am a sucker for anything reminding of the time period; making the Santa Barbara-adjacent Danish city of Solvang right up my alley with its medieval storybook streets/architecture. Among the many spots in Solvang that make my heart go pitter-patter is The Good Life: a cellar wine/ale/tavern- bar. Grab your favorite wench and come along to grab a pint... Stroll down Mission Drive in the famous Danish city of Solvang and you will be delighted to venture upon The Good Life that appears to pop out of a medieval history book with exposed wooden beans, plaster exterior walls and an entrance that resides at basement level (they don't call it a cellar bar for nothing!). Owned by a husband-wife team with extensive hospitality and restaurant experience under their belts in 2012; the charm of The Good Life is instantaneous and perfect for a gal like me obsessed with this sort of thing. Prepare to be instantly transported into the 15th century! Once you cross the threshold of The Good Life, the Shakesperean feel continues but is also modernized with a glowing fireplace, plush arm chairs and high bar tables (plus bar seating) and floor to ceiling wine racks. The Good Life is a perfect ratio of Solvang tradition with hints of romance making it ideal for a casual beverage, tourist pop-in or memorable date night drink. The latter is exactly how my boyfriend and I happened to come across The Good Life as we were visiting Solvang from Los Angeles for the city's Christmas-time Julefest. We had just spent the evening making holiday memories among the city's Christmas trees, twinkling lights and sugary delights. Post Danish-dinner, we decided to wrap up our forever-Solvang memory with a drink at The Good Life. We were immediately greeted by the male manning The Good Life without any attitude or distaste towards us for coming in as he was preparing to close for the evening. If he was upset with us in any way - he certainly didn't show it! The Good Life features an amazing menu of local and international wines, beers, ales, meads, ciders, and ports that make The Good Life feel fancy-schmancy and artisan; but also, neighborhood friendly for your favorite hipster or friend next door. My boyfriend and I shared a cider (I wish I remembered the specific one but alas my memory evades me) while enjoying the atmosphere of warmth at The Good Life. Other customers sat in the plush chairs with notepads and tarot cards, an older couple arrived to cap off the evening and I enjoyed the view of my boyfriend in a medieval-Danish inspired cellar bar. The Good Life is standout at accommodating to all customers and making sure no one feels out of place. A bountiful tip as important as the bosom of a medieval bar wench: the bathroom at The Good Life is labeled as 'Office'. Don't worry, you won't walk in on someone preparing accounting books and the only business happening behind this door involves you and your private matters. The Good Life is delightful and unique but doesn't just stop there: it also differentiates itself with a truly impressive alcohol selection that allows you to be introduced to local, national, Danish and international bevies you have surely not tried prior. The Good Life is recommended for a drink on your next trip to the tourist-friendly city of Solvang. Even if you aren't pretending to be in medieval times...
