My first time having my car serviced since the previous owner, Jamie, retired. The person helping me was friendly, and there was regular communication via text to let me know the progress of what was being done to my vehicle. Once work was completed and I returned to pay for the service, they were able to charge me for a little less than what the original cost was to be. They also said that, because the issue I brought my car in for was not found, I should bring it back and there would not be an additional diagnostic fee for them to try snd diagnose again. Happy that the new owners are also customer friendly, as the previous one was. Would definitely recommend if looking for an auto shop you can trust! read more

Took vehicle intending to use Century Auto and found out that Jamie retired and business now owned by Stree Free Auto. One spark plug was bad so had all 4 changed along with 4 coils, oil change requested too. Shocked at $1700 price I was charged! Vehicle is running great! I was a loyal customer for over 20 years, but sadly the quality here has gone downhill. I brought my car in for a water leak. They replaced the water pump, but the issue wasn't fixed. Then it was the radiator hose. A month later, the leak came back -- now they said it was the thermostat. When I asked why they didn't replace thermostat and water pump the same time, I was told "we don't do that." The problem kept coming back every few months. At one point they blamed the water pump again and charged labor (even though the part was under warranty). Later, they said the pump was "corroded" and charged me $440 more in labor. In total, I spent over $4,000 and replaced water pump 3 times -- and the problem was NEVER fixed. From the beginning, I clearly told them I didn't want to invest too much in this 15-year-old car and might donate it if repairs got expensive. Each time they reassured me it was fixed. In the end, I gave up and donated the car anyway. To make matters worse, when I called about the ongoing issue, they hung up on me. Really disappointing experience after 20 years of trust. read more

My family and I go here to service all our cars and Jamie is great! We have been coming to him for many years to have him help service our Toyota, Mercedes SUV, and Mercedes sedan. He knows cars very well and is very honest with his work. He does our yearly tune-ups, wheel rotations, replacing lights, etc, and we generally go to him with any issue we run into (funny sounds or smells) or when any light pops up. The price is competitive to getting your car serviced by the dealers, and he is very quick. We usually call ahead to check his availability, but he has always been able to accommodate. read more

I called seeking to get the cam shaft repaired on my Buick Verano. As soon as I said that I have a Consumer Assistance Program (CAP) grant through the Bureau of Automotive Repair, I was told they don't have enough mechanics to work on CAP autos. Their website says they are certified/authorized to do this. Disappointing and waste of time - change the website for accuracy. read more

My dad brought his Mercedes in and was charged $150 for a diagnostic. They said it was a $35.00 light switch and was $300.00 to install. All together the cost was $485.00. Upon driving it out of parking lot it started doing the exact same thing. He informed him of that and they looked again and said it was something else and wanted another $500. They never fixed and charged him $200 to disconnect the sensor. CAN YOU BELIEVE IT!! Total rip off.. do not do business with these people.. unbelievable!!! My car died while I was driving few days before Christmas. Have the car towed n next day went to century. The guy say is my alternator n needs replacing but he cant do it till week after Christmas. So went back after 1 week n he say it will cost me $430 when he quoted me $360. So I went to O Reilly n bought a new battery n came home installed it. N the car is fine now. So Jiffylube told me I needed a cracked serpentine belt changed and soon. My wonderful boyfriend called up Century and quickly made an early morning appointment with Jamie. Driving in, you will find this place in the back lot of Big O Tires, pretty easy to find and plenty of parking. Walking up I saw a man outside and said I was looking for Jamie, luckily I had already found him. With a quick look at my car, simple paperwork, I handed over my keys and he said it would be less than hour. Across the way is an adorable little bakery and a dollar store, so for the hour I just browsed and had a small breakfast. It was nice to just simply walk around and browse, when finished I just came back and read my Kindle in their tidy front office. Viola! My car was done and oh so quick. The price was totally fair and honest. And Jamie was a pleasure to work with. Great place and I would happy return. read more

It did take a little longer than expected because of some new discoveries as the job proceeded but Mark called to let me know so I was happy for the honest communication. There's not a huge fancy waiting room, but there are seats inside while you wait, and he's able to arrange for pretty cheap rental cars if you need it. From what I can see, he does quite a few luxury cars (German and Japanese) and appears to be pretty experienced. Jamie was very reasonable and honest with me, and service was timely and fair in pricing. It's hard to find a trustworthy auto shop, so I'd recommend Century Automotive. I came here because I had absolutely no other choice. My tire was at an unsafe driving pressure. I came here the service was quick. Took about 15 minutes, it was overpriced. Every place I called that morning said they could do it for 40 bucks. He wanted 40 bucks for a "so-so" tire. I had to pay 60 because I'm not going to have my wife and daughter riding around in a vehicle with "so-so" tires. I was irritated that was even an option. I pad for the price of convince. I will not be returning to this establishment. Two stars for their speedy service Tips: don't ever offer anyone a so-so tire! read more

I agree with Martin; this place is terrible. They only have customers because they are part of the Consumer Assistance Program, that subsidizes the repairs. They tried to charge me $600 for a catalytic converter that you can buy online for $120, and they charged me $120 for simply diagnosing the problem, which I could have done by simply reading the fault code if I had a trouble code reader! read more

I used to go here for many years- and they always fixed the problem or maintained my cars for a reasonable price. The upkeep of an older car - is pricey at the dealerships and not worth it if you consider the depreciation. Jimmy has fixed transmissions and been in the business for over 20 years. Came to this CENTURY old place this morning with my husband. Horrible service, rude and overpriced. Smog tests cost a whopping- $50. They have an old 1987 computer that takes ages to kickstart, so the mechanic ordered us to wait for a good 30 minutes. Wow. And he doesn't mention this before hand. We had an urgency and had to get it done soon, so weren't up for waiting too long. The guy asked us to pay up $2, claiming he made a call on our behalf which cost him so much ( basically an inconvenience fee, for us facing inconvenience!! :O). He wouldn't accept cards and asked me to stay put there until my husband got the cash. To top it all, he snatched the $2 and walked off in full style. I would never come back or recommend this place to anyone. Save time, money, mental peace and please find a different smog station. Lastly, they do not offer a free smog retest within 30 days, if your car failed. read more

They sold me a part i did not need to fix a problem that should have taken 10 minutes to fix and not been more than 100 bucks in labor to fix. shop is crooked and fraudulent. the part they said i needed costs normally 60 bucks, max, and they charged me over 400 dollars for it. never will recommend, STAY AWAY!!! go to the dealership instead, they will fix the car right and fast and not try to steal your money. if you come here, you will pay what the dealer would want to fix your car anyway. this shop just guesses at what is wrong and throws parts at your car all the while charging you for marked up parts, and ridiculous labor. I've been coming to this place for 18 years now, and Jamie has been always spot on on the repairs, priority, recommendations, and setting expectations. He has been servicing my BMW 2008 335i - from 55K miles and now at 124K miles, helped to diagnose come complex bi-turbo and injector issues and fixed them completely. 2011 750Li Xdrive, 2011 X5, 2010 Escalade, 2010 Wrangler, and recent addition 2005 M3. Always OEM parts for maintenance, and recommend best option for repairs. What's not to like? My issues prior to finding this shop and Jamie, are that many independent mechanics may attempt to service a car and mess up, and also mess up other things (and often do not own up to them), and cannot afford to go to dealer for out-of-warrantee services. Jamie has been completely trustworthy, dependable, and competent throughout. My joke w/ him now is that if he decides to retire or move away, I'll stop owning cars out-of-warrantee. read more

Another mechanic (a very upscale German car specialist) was the one who told me about this place, and boy am I glad he did. I had been told by a nearby tire store that I needed brake work, my radiator fluid light kept going on, and I needed an oil change. I fully expected to pay a grand for all that, but only wound up having to pay 66 for the oil change, as they said my brakes were fine and a hose clamp just needed to be tightened! I wasn't nearly as happy as the rest of these customers. I went for a smog check. It took over an hour as there seems to be only one smog tester. And he apparently had other things to do prior to getting around to me. I understand that things can take time but good customer service dictates letting me know beforehand. Not leaving the office and letting me wonder. I disagree that the waiting area is pleasant. If you don't mind sharing the space with assorted auto parts, maybe. But it was hot!! Ok, it is July and 83 degrees (or something like that). But it was hotter inside than outside. If I knew I had an hour to wait I would have gone somewhere else. It seems more expensive than other shops also. It cost me $60. I haven't had to get a smog check in years but that seemed high. But at the point I just wanted to get out of there. read more
