After spending a few days attending an event at the LAX Marriott, my boyfriend and I decided to play hooky by skipping workshops on the final day and eating breakfast at Latitude 33. We weren't hungry enough to take advantage of the buffet, so thankfully we didn't fall into that trap. The atmosphere of Latitude 33 reminds me of Denny's. Simple, family-friendly, and not very upscale, especially looking at how they remodeled their hotel rooms. But their service is decent. They have a bar, too, so I'm sure a lot of great Yelp ratings come from the late night visits. I ordered a breakfast burrito, which was rather disappointing. It was pricey as expected for hotel food, but the flavors were bland and needed smothering which ketchup. It wasn't very satisfying, and it made me miss the breakfast burritos back at my college dining hall. Maybe I was just tired and unenthusiastic after a long weekend, but I thought that would have made me more excited about a good meal. This is the restaurant inside the LAX Marriott Hotel (that is, the Marriott near LAX). Had lunch here yesterday because I attended a Jack Canfield event at the aforementioned hotel. We chose this restaurant mostly for convenience. Although the Jack-Canfield staff provided a list of places for lunch within walking distance, we picked this place because for me to walk outside would mean applying sunblock w/c takes about 20 minutes( have to wait 15 minutes after applying before going out). As you can tell by my 2-Star rating, we were disappointed with this place. Here are the reasons: 1) Expensive but did not live up to it. 2) Mushroom Burger priced at $16. For that price, I would expect to be asked a choice of how the burger should be cooked. We were not asked and thus I forgot to state that I wanted it well done. And sure enough, the burger arrived medium rare or rare. I guess I could have asked them to send me a well-done burger. But that would mean another wait and they were getting busy. 3) Greek Salad priced at $16. The menu stated Romaine Lettuce. However, it was comprised of the less-nutritious Iceberg Lettuce. What a rip-off. 4) Sodas were at $3.25 each. Pricey but I guess my consolation was there was nothing wrong with them. For all its worth, the server and the hostesses were friendly, and the fries were very delicious. But for the high prices, I still wished they asked me how our burger should be cooked and they should have served Romaine Lettuce for the sixteen-dollar Greek Salad. Stayed at the LAX Marriott and dined in the bar area twice during our stay. If there was a three and a half star option, that's what I would give Latitude 33... The Rueben sandwich was excellent. Corned beef, sauerkraut and Swiss cheese inside 1000 island rye bread. Ordered it on both visits and was pleased each time with the taste. The taste was on point but the size and price of the sandwich were not. For $16, my expectations for a sandwich would be larger in size. The fries that accompany the sandwich aren't that many either The nachos on the other hand were quite large. This was perfect as a shared appetizer for our party of four. We didn't even finish it. This $13 was well worth it. The chicken was not dry, nor were the chips stale (not even at the bottom). Cheese was perfectly melted and the toppings were abundant. The shisito peppers ($12) were nothing special to rave about. I love shisito peppers and I always order when this is a menu option, but the ones at Latitude 33 lacked flavor. More salt and lime juice could be added or a spicy dipping sauce could accompany the dish for more taste The bar area has only two beers on tap -- a red ale and an IPA. Unfortunately we were basically forced to have lunch here because of a work conference being held at the Marriott. The only saving grace was the friendly and prompt service. Even though the conference I was attending wasn't large by any means there were enough people attending that the restaurant became quite busy. Still the staff did not miss a beat and we were able to eat and be back to attend our afternoon session on time. So now for the food, oh boy the food... $15 for a turkey BLT. For that price I'm hoping the sandwich is magical. Nope. It was dry, boring, and uninspiring. Pair that with a $4 iced tea and I was not a happy camper to say the least. The others in my party weren't dissatisfied with meals but $23 for a cobb salad with chicken, $16 for the greek salad, and $15 for a burger I would think the food would be at least good and definitely not forgetful. I mean I've spent more on a lunch before but I at least could justify the cost because the food was tasty. This was not the case here though. With virtually no other options in the area other than fast food, Latitude 33 has all of the "latitude" to set their prices at whatever they want. Food was delicious but IMHO way too much for what you get. I had the salmon with couscous and arugula on top. fresh, and flavorful, just not very big. It was also in a brown box and I should have asked them to put it on a plate. It's not like I was starving but certainly far from being full. If I stay at the Marriott LAX again, next time I will have to eat in the restaurant and I may find it to be a better experience. read more

Went to visit a friend staying here because they are a flight attendant. UM....gosh, the waitress was awkward: she knocked over a photo on the table I had given my friend, and didn't bother to pick it up! (she then said she thought it was a menu!) (really? You picked those up some time ago!) The second waitress came with the extra ketchup I asked for, but when the drink glasses in the foreground threw her for a loop, she hesitated, and retracted her hand with the plate from the table, as if it was just too MINDBLOWING for her to figure out to put in the CLEARING in the middle of the table!!!! The food (eggs benedict without the sauce - hardly EB, but I guess I should be THRILLED, that they allowed me to order it, after breakfast was done being served!) all I can say is, I am SO SO SO glad that I don't have to visit anyone here again! read more

Located inside the LAX Marriott and right next to JW Steakhouse, Lattitude 33 is a nice spot to have breakfast (they have a breakfast buffet), lunch, or dinner. I like waking up and coming down for a nice breakfast before heading out for meetings and other things. The servers I've experienced have been really nice and accommodating. The food is decent. I've eaten there at least once for each mealtime and I haven't had anything I didn't like. It's my preferred place to eat when I don't have a car since Champions is a bit too greasy and Carl's Jr is not my favorite fast food joint and I'm at the hotel for convention meetings. read more

It's not that $24 is too much for a breakfast buffet, but $24 for basically the same selection of food you get from Joe Average Hotel is disappointing. This is at a Marriott for cripesakes. Calling your bacon crisp and your sausage savory does not a premium meal make. Breakfast potatoes and eggs - boring. Throw something in there to set this place apart and charge me $30 or more. I was happy to pay the margin for fine, craft beer (Green Flash IPA & Sculpin, yum, three 23 ouncers) at the sport bar in the hotel, so it's not about the money for sure, but - $15 for oatmeal here? It was a decent please. The staff are very attentive and pleasant but a little on the pricey side. They have a pretty decent breakfast buffet. The fruits are fresh and ripe (meaning the strawberries taste like strawberries and not tart), you have the choices of breads and pastries (fresh and moist) and eggs benedict (who would have thought at a buffet?). One of the things I did not care for is their take out menu. It is very limited and the menu they have listed on line is not the one they give you when you go there. And you have go to the desk to order. For instance, I was staying at the hotel (Latitude) is located in the lobby of the hotel and they do the hotel's room service (by the way) so I called to place a take out order versus having room service (after all I have 2 feet) but they told me that I had to order at the desk. Delicious burgers. But the service was a mediocre mess. Waiter had so much self-righteous attitude that it was funny. I am still laughing, but I'm in a pretty good mood. Otherwise, this could be annoying if one cared. One meal was so wrong (a raw hamburger) that the waitress offered "dessert for the table." It sounded so extravagant that we all got really excited. If you're a vegetarian or a vegan- DO NOT ORDER THE FRIES! They are cooked in the same oil that the calamari is cooked in. We only found this out by accident when our waiter mentioned it offhand while bringing me my vegetarian meal. Nowhere on their menu do they state it and they also neglect to tell you so when you order fries. That being said, service was slow and understaffed. A never disappointing breakfast at marriott including this one at lax , good selection of breakfast and really good waitstaff. We had a buffet breakfast for 22 dollars and kids 6 dollars . The selection was wide . From healthy fruits and fresh juices to smoked salmon and bagels, pastries. Love the wide selection, however would appreciate warmer pastries and also kosher selection . Pro: Attentive and friendly server who was helpful with a wine recommendation and small customizations to our orders due to dietary restrictions of members of our party. The pickles that came on the side with our burgers tasted like they were made in-house and were delicious. The fries were perfectly seasoned and hot; we would come back just for the fries and pickles. Con: All of our burgers came extremely overcooked or inconsistent. Order 1, Medium-Well: Came overly well done and extremely dry, bordering on burnt. Order 2, Med, no tomatoes: Came lukewarm and extremely rare, gushing blood all over the plate. Order 3, Med-Rare, no tomatoes: Came Medium, with tomatoes. Order 4, Med-Rare: Came well done and dry, with no pink in the middle at all. Horrible Service and way overpriced for their portions. Their vegan stir fry on their dinner menu is priced at $18. This entree includes three thin slices of tofu drizzled with some asian sauce and one scoop of rice that is topped with about three pieces of stir fried vegetables. This meal my be vegan but not worth $18 and not very filling. This maybe a grand meal for someone in North Korea but barely has any nutritional value to land itself on the entree menu. $16 for an Eggs Benedict that comes with OJ or coffee, I asked for the OJ and they poured a glass (more like a shot glass) for my girlfriend too. Then the bill came and they had tried to charge $5 for the OJ that they served her. It tasted like goat urine... seriously... this place is in a good location but feels like purgatory when you are in there. If you are going to rip people off with your prices then at least have the decency to serve freshly squeezed OJ. I cautiously offer this place 4 stars simply because of the service. The food was about average as was the selection. Everyone we interacted with was courteous and helpful. Our server, Ulla, was charming and quite personable. She was quick and informative. She also had some funny short stories to share! The area around LAX is not a bustling restaurant row so the pickings are slim. If Starbucks(just outside of the restaurant) doesn't offer you enough selection, it's a decent place to get a meal. Our group ate there twice, once for dinner and once for breakfast. The breakfast buffet is well within reason, and with a selection of beverages included, it's what I would suggest. There is also a fairly well-stocked bar within the restaurant. The ambience is nice for groups and even for working. It's a large dinning area, spacious and clean. Bathrooms are just outside the host desk. Lighting and temperature are both kept at comfortable levels. read more

Three stars mainly for the attentive service- the food was very mediocre. I was attending a training at the nearby Hilton so took a stroll on our lunch break to the next hotel over. The hostesses and servers were super attentive and nice. There was a busy lunch crowd but it was very easy to walk in and get seated. I had been eying the fish tacos so when the server recommended it I went for it. While the tortillas were nice and warm- they were doughy and of a slick consistency. After one bite opted to forego them and just eat the fish and ample toppings - guacamole, black beans, salsa, lettuce, cabbage, tomatoes. The fish - not sure what type it was - was very bland. The lettuce/slaw mix was pretty good. Sweet tea was good and waitress offered to give me a go cup - that was nice! $23 lunch - a little pricey but on par with hotel food. I got sick with stomach issues a little while later -not saying it was from there but I hadn't eaten anywhere else. Again, I was working in the area and wanted a filet mignon so decided to try this place in the Marriott. The hostess was awesome, the waitress was great, but the $39 filet was average at best. Ordered the chicken quesadillas and I'm surprised by the portion! My toddler and I shared it and it was pretty good! Comes with sides of guacamole, pico de gallo, and sour cream. Hubby ordered the chicken sandwich in GLUTEN-FREE BREAD! That was the highlight of our dinner. He said that the bread was delicious and will definitely becoming back and stay at the Marriott LAX. read more

Three star review and I will state why. My aunt and I we came here yesterday for a jack canfield seminar. So it is time for lunch. We decided to come to this place for lunch. Viewing the menu we ordered the Greek salad it was not that tasty. Since the salad was iceberg and not romaine that was said on the menu. Once the burger came I enjoyed the burger and fries was very delicious. The salad was not to my liking and our meal was expensive. $16.00 for a salad that was no good and soda also expensive. Waitstaff was absolutely amazing- such a sweet hostess. Food was overpriced and mine was awful. I got the portobello veggie burger because I am a vegan. I asked for nothing on top of it. It came with cheese and peppers, so I sent it back. It came with mayonnaise(not even on the description), so I sent it back. Finally it came out plain but it was not good as a burger so I tried it plain because I like mushrooms. Felt like it had just come out of the refrigerator. Also the fries tasted like they came frozen from a bag. Overly salty too. We had a few minutes before we needed to leave for a wedding and we needed to validate our parking (we had gotten a rental car earlier in the day and parked only for a couple of hours to get dressed in our hotel room for the wedding). This place was just ok. The environment is welcoming and group friendly, service was good and we got our food relatively quickly. However, the food taste was a bit lacking. I've eaten here a couple of times while visiting the hotel for a convention I was attending...food is pretty tasty if maybe overpriced a bit considering it's down the street from LAX and there really isn't a whole lot of choices at least within walking distance. Service from what I've experienced is pretty good and one time I ate here with a friend we had hung out well after we had finished our meals and even after we had paid, the waiter still came by and refilled our drinks without rushing us out (though it probably helped that it wasn't busy).
