Got my first Brazilian from Cera Studio recently and it was a great experience. All of the other reviews are right on point. The place is very clean, they do not double dip the sticks, staff is really polite and friendly. I had Jasmine as my waxer and she was really funny and entertaining. The entire process was extremely enjoyable which I didn't expect to feel while getting my girl waxed! The only complaint I do have is that there were some hair left behind. I mentioned this to her and she said the wax couldn't get it off. Others have told me that the waxer will usually tweeze the remaining hair off. Which did disappoint me. I'm not sure if they simply do not tweeze here or if Jasmine doesn't like to do it. read more

Love, love, love this place. I've had waxing done before with sugar wax and even strip wax but nothing compares to the hard wax that Cera uses! Waxing for me has never been a painless experience BUT I can say that its less painful here than other places that I've been and it it gentler on my skin. I have been to multiple waxers at Cera but my favorite person is Kimberly. She is every friendly and is quick and thorough. I usually get a Brazilian and I can be out of there in 20-25 mins. Also, the customer service is impeccable. After every appointment I always get a follow up email. I love that. My one recommendation, make sure you are on time! They allot just enough time for your service, so if you are going to be over 10 mins late, I would suggest you consider rescheduling. read more

First off, I want to say that Melissa is a terrific eyebrow waxer. I really liked the shape that she was able to give me the times that I visited her. She is extremely friendly and makes sure that you are comfortable. If it were only her, I would give it five stars. That being said, the front desk staff is just plain rude and the atmosphere is extremely stuck up. The one time that I was late to an appointment by 7 minutes due to circumstances beyond my control, they had to cancel it. So many wax studios accept walk-ins. But because Cera wants to seem extremely exclusive, you have to book in advance, sometimes a week in advance. And if you are late, they apparently would not honor your appointment in any way, even if it's sometime as simple as an eyebrow cleanup. What they don't seem to understand is that people live very busy and hectic lives in this area, and as as a pregnant mother of a toddler with a full time job and taking part time college courses, I do not have the time nor the energy to deal with inflexibility, specially for their hiked up prices and over something that even much busier professions such as doctors would consider to be acceptably late. I had a nightmare experience with Cera. I have never been to this salon before and made an appointment for an eyebrow wax based on the rave Yelp reviews. I called for a same day opening and arrived exactly 5 min late because I had trouble finding it. Upon arrival I was told they could not take me given the paperwork, I had already called earlier that day and there was no mention of paperwork or early arrival. An eyebrow wax is a simple 5 minute procedure, and every reputable salon gives a small grace period if you're late...especially given your first time. I told the woman that I booked a babysitter for this appt, paid for parking, and traveled to come here but they refused to accommodate me. The staff was unprofessional, rude, and not knowledgable. I would tell any prospective customer to avoid this business. read more

Monica is, beyond the shadow of a doubt, the best waxer I've ever had. She's also super nice and professional, btw :) But back to the wax: I've been getting brazillians for many many years now and I've run the gamut from Bliss to NY Chinatown to Celadon to Bang to any number of random places, and there are a few ways I rate how well my wax went. First and foremost: how quick and painless was it? Second: how do I look when it's done? And third: how do I look a few days or a week later? With most places the answers in order are: slow and painful; hot pink, sticky, covered with baby powder; and several ingrown hairs and red bumps. But with Monica it's flawless. At Cera Wax Studio, my wax fast, 100% thorough, and painless as imaginable (the follow up wax 6 weeks later, btw, was blindingly fast and literally painless); I walked out perfectly neat and clean, not sticky, and no bright pink sensitive skin; and finally, I had absolutely no ingrown hairs afterwards, no red spots, and no broken hairs that grew back right away. Anyway, it was the best. I never leave without booking my next appointment. Go there. read more

Sigh.... So wanted to love this place! But.... I didn't. The receptionist Lala is fantastic!!! Vibrant, kind and efficient. Too bad the technician, Camilla wasn't. No personality and not very good. The facility is really nice. Very clean and trendy. I just expect when getting my eyebrows waxed, the technician knows what she is doing. Camilla started off by asking me what I want. I told her to clean up underneath my brows and more or less sculpt and shape them. Yea, she cleaned them up but when I got home, I had to pluck many more hairs and noticed one eyebrow didn't quite look like the other. Isn't it her job to make sure they are even? I don't want to say I wouldn't try Cera again but I definitely would not go back to Camilla. read more

I don't know if I'm really experienced enough with waxing to give this place 5 stars to say it's as good as it gets but I am. My first experience ever with body waxing (outside of eyebrows) was with this place and I have no desire to try anywhere else. I've been several times for underarm and the vixen bikini wax and I'm only mad that I didn't start doing this years ago!! I've only gone to Tatiana who is so funny, sweet, and knowledgeable - she's really careful with my sensitive skin. I have an upcoming appointment with another waxer because Tatiana is booked on my available days so we will see how that goes. The parking and elevator ride SUCKS though lol. read more

I must say "thank you" to Gilt City for introducing me to Cera Wax Studio. Since moving to the DC area almost four years ago, I haven't found a place that made me feel as comfortable as this place. The receptionist was extremely friendly upon my arrival and my waxer, Veronica, was awesome. She is very personable and there was absolutely no awkwardness. They also use the wax that hardens, which is what I prefer. After about 30 minutes, I was done...and I immediately set up my next appointment. A few days after my appointment, they even did a follow-up call to insure I was satisfied. This place is clean and great and yes, the prices are somewhat steep, but hey, it's all worth it. read more

Its true what they say, the third time is a charm! This is the third place that I have gone to for a wax and it is definitely a keeper! As soon as I walked in, I was greeted and offered water or a soft drink and then called back exactly at my appointment time. The rooms were extremely clean and well decorated. My Esthetician was Ime and I will definitely request her for my next appointment. Ime talked to me through the whole process explaining the products used, what she was doing and how to upkeep afterwards. She made it very relaxing and nearly pain free. read more

I got my eyebrows waxed there and it was great. The receptionist was very friendly and offered me a drink when I got there. I filled out a medical form which I had never done for waxing before and then waited a minute before I went back the room. I can't remember her name but the woman who waxed my brows was very nice and waxed them exactly how I wanted them. It was clean (no double dipping!!) fast, and she did a great job. Afterwards, since my brows were really red she even put a mineral concealer on. I definitely will be coming back here next time! read more

Hands down best waxing experience I've ever had. My friend and I went here on a weekday evening after work. Both of us have had traumatizing experiences at the hands of less-than-stellar estheticians and were weary to try a new place. This place has become the only place I'll go for my Brazilian waxes. The place is cute, clean and well stocked with complimentary beverages and snacks. Tatiana did a great job and was very pleasant. They use hard wax here instead of paper strips, which is awesome. There was no double-dipping either. I blinked and it was over--the most painless Brazilian I've ever had! The prices are also very reasonable--$65 for the first Brazilian and $55 for subsequent maintenance sessions. Cera Wax Studio is amazing. It's true that you get what you pay for because the experience I had was well worth the $65 I paid. I got a brazilian wax (the vixen) by Camille. I really appreciated that she was so nice and conversational as I was a little worried about how painful it would be based on a horrible experience I had somewhere else. Camille made me feel very relaxed and provided tips and information on how to moisturize and exfoliate the area afterwards. There was also music playing in the room which I personally appreciated because there was never a moment of awkward silence and it happened to be music I enjoyed. A little pricey but you get what you pay for. Clean, comfortable, almost spa-like. Most important: careful waxing with as little pain as you can get when you "go to Brazil!" This was the best waxing experience I have ever had! I've been getting Brazilian waxings for about a year now with a friend who did a wonderful job. But I moved and needed to find a new place closer to home. After being recommended here, I finally got around to making an appointment. The studio is adorable upon arriving. I was offered a drink by Monica ( who was very friendly ) and asked to fill out some information. The bathroom is set up for any freshening up you need to do before your Appointment, which was great. I was taken care of by Jaclyn. She immediately put me at ease with her bubbly personality and relaxing, chill conversation. I loved the music in the room, definitely was a plus. The hard wax is the coolest thing I have experienced. And it's true once you try it, you won't want to go back to anything else.! It was about as painless as a Brazilian can be! I was very impressed with it. Jaclyn was fast, explained everything, and was hilarious. Regarding Bethesda location- Always well done. Found my go to person at this modern, cute place. Only had one unfriendly person the past few years and she has since left. I continuously go back even after trying new places in the area. Heads up they book out very fast and have about 4 rooms! Friendly front desk always offer bottled water and there are some magazines in the front while you wait. Very clean floor and bathroom but would like the chair to be cleaner where people's feet are. And sometimes the towels have stains and should be replaced... They are very knowledgeable and professional and do a thorough job- as pain free as possible. High quality products and training: Talc-free Burts bees powder, lavender scented oil, always wear gloves, never double dip. They have cute items available in the front at check out. Can choose your music station while your being seen. Finally started online booking which will help with the emails and calling back and forth. Been waiting for the points program I keep hearing about to start "soon". Parking is tough here but a garage isn't toooo far...heads up its a long elevator ride to the third floor and back, but worth it :) once I use online booking and see cleaner chairs/ consistently clean towels I'll move to 5 stars. read more

It was my first time visiting Cera Wax Studio in Bethesda. I can honestly say I WILL be back for routine maintenance :) ! The entire experience (although painful, considering I decided to get the Vixen which is basically a Brazilian) was absolutely the best experience I could have asked for for my first Brazilian wax and totally worth it. I was greeted by the receptionist (who was super friendly and conversational!) after my 49-55 second elevator ride up (the elevator is just slow, and they even have a sign in the elevator that explains it...lol), and offered a drink (the options are soda/sparkling water/water/tea). The waiting room was cute and they played great music which kept me relaxed while waiting. I have heard that all of the waxing technicians at Cera are great. I was seen by Monica. As soon as I filled out the first-time paperwork, Monica greeted me out front and took me back to the room for the waxing appointment. The wait time was super short considering it was all just a matter of filling out paperwork before getting taken back to the room. The appointment rooms are decorated very nicely too! This isn't your typical white-walled plain-Jane waxing studio! The decor is very glam/chic with some cute decor accents, and it made the waxing experience all the more amazing. It made me feel at home! The pre/post serums applied by the aesthetician before the wax and after the wax both smell great and have all-natural ingredients in them. Monica was honestly the best: she kept a great conversation going, which helped me to not think too much about the entire waxing thing going on (lol). I will say, I did not use numbing gel, but in all honesty, a Brazilian is a Brazilian, and it will hurt. There's no getting around the little bit of pain that comes with the procedure. If it doesn't hurt, you're a super human. Lol. Monica was very gentle and she even paused a few times when I panicked from the little stinging pain that is normal with a Brazilian wax. She gave me some really great instructions for post-care, showed me the products they carry (including some really great-scented all-natural sugar scrubs!), and I paid and left. After a Brazilian if it is your first time, you will feel some sensitivity and the sense of a "pull" in the area, but it isn't long lasting. It is now one day after my wax, and I have no redness, no pain, no sensitivity, since I followed all of Monica's instructions! I will most certainly be back and I will continue to book my appointments with Monica :) (but like I said before, ALL the technicians they have there are great!). Cera Wax Studio, you rock! This is hands down the best place to be waxed. There is no substitute for Cera and I will never go anywhere else. I live in Baltimore and I travel over an hour to get waxed...it's that good. The customer service is top notch, there's no question about the cleanliness and the staff are friendly and experts at what they do. I get brows and the "vixen" which is the Cera Brazilian. I don't enjoy waxing and I'm a giant baby but I actually enjoy my treatments here. I purchased a voucher from Gilt City for this new business in Bethesda. Monica, the owner, was a true professional and very well researched. I mentioned that I have sensitive skin (hence why I'm a chicken about waxing), and she was mindful about any skin reactions. She uses a hard wax, which is better than slapping hot goo onto your netherparts. She was chatty throughout the entire process, which kept me distracted. Also, the select-your-own Pandora station was also a welcome distraction (I preferred the Kelly Clarkson, but I hear some want heavy metal--whatever works, I guess). The elevator getting there is slightly claustrophobic and somewhat trauma-inducing (it moves verrry slooowly). But once you get over that, you'll be glad you went to Cera for your bikini wax.
