a couple of my friends decided to take me here today for lunch since i started working around the midtown area. It was a bit overwhelming at first because the place was small and crowded so we didn't know where we were supposed to order from, but a PLUS for great service! There are seatings in the back of the place so after we ordered in the front, the server kindly brought the food over to our table. I ordered the chicken panini, which was delicious with a good amount of chicken filled with flavor. Also, can't go wrong with fresh mozzarella..yum! One of my friends ordered the quesadilla and it was so huge that it could had been a burrito! The desserts also caught my attention, but I'll have to remember to save room for those next time. People are nice here. The food is pretty good but I prefer Pizza by Certe which is on the east side for the pizza and some of the same sandwiches. You can't get the entrees at that location though. The chicken parmesan entree I had here was good and good portion size. I had another chicken dish and the chicken seemed undercooked by the bone not bloody but very pink and didn't come off the bone easily as cooked chicken does. I love that you can come here to dine, order out and of course they cater as well. I'm a huge fan of the variety of lemonades they have. I love the pommagranite, lychee, mango etc. I had the falafel wrap which was amazing and the hummus was a nice sprwad on this flatbread sandwich. I have had salads in the past and their cookies are very fresh. If you're in the area, this is definitely a place to cater from. Would have never noticed this place when I walked by but a friend told me it was really good, so we went for lunch. The front is a narrow place where you can order food to go. It all looks delicious. In the back there is a restaurant with really friendly staff. The menu is extremely extensive with great options. I decided to do the make your own pasta because the people sitting next to us had food that looked excellent. I made a pasta with pesto sauce. Pesto is one of my favorite things ever and it was nice that it wasn't too heavy of a sauce. We asked for bread to dip in our sauces and they gave us an array of different breads including warm pita. it was excellent. The service was really good, and I will definitely be going back there. I really have nothing but amazing things to say about this place for lunch. It has become one of my go-to orders every week. The soups and sandwiches are all great. Cindy's Bahn Mi (the old chubby chinese) - great duck sandwich, the buffalo chicken - excellent, for soups- Shrooms soup is one of my favorites, and if they have the lobster bisque it is really good! Also the chicken soup tastes like my grandma made it. I havent had one disappointing meal from here and Ive ordered somewhere around 20 times now. Our store frequently uses Certe as our catering company for events. The food is always fresh and nicely prepared. The staff who prepares the platters are efficient. The reason why I chose now to write this review is because I got a chance to compare experiences with another well-known catering company (I would really like to say who but I feel like it wouldn't be right.... We will call them "F"). In complete contrast with company F, Sarah from Certe was patient, thorough, and seemed to care about my event. Sarah was professional and gave me her expert advice as to what would be the best variety for a party of 40. IMO the space is Really Awkward to begin with, and the service was subpar, so after grabbing a menu and trying to decipher the English of the signs (of specials, none of which were their alleged/new buff chix sandwich) plastered at uncomfortable spots on the walls, we left. Very very average food. Ordered some typical dishes from the deli like chicken parm and also some more 'unusual' ones like Lentil on the Lamb. Overall I can't say I'd recommend this restaurant. This was the first time ordering from here. I'm a tough person to please but everything I ordered was wonderful. It was Friday so I ordered the lobster bisque. Wow. Yummy!!! Also ordered monte cristo. It was delicious . Only complaint is the monte cristo was a little soggy. Also ordered the baked meringue. Definitely get the Groupon deal if you're considering coming here. The store itself is small because they mostly do catering. They offer a lot of takeout options however, like their sandwiches. I've had the Philly Cheesesteak and the Chicken Pesto. Both of them are delicious and worth it for the price with the Groupon. Their food is relatively more affordable than other midtown stores. The only downside of this place however is that they stop offering takeout at 3 PM, which is way too early sometimes. The workers are nice and friendly to customers. read more

Certe used to be my go-to for brunch (oh how I miss their Green Eggs and Shazam!) but now that the sit-down restaurant is closed (they still do takeout), Certe is my go-to for corporate catering. Food is good, very fresh (the kitchen is right on the premises) and very healthy (with the exception being the brownies, which are so good you won't care if they kill you). It's always well-presented, too. Certe's team is accommodating and easy to work with... and that good spirit seems to come from the top, down. Certe's owner, Eddie, is a genuinely kind and hardworking man with tremendous food sense and a giant heart. Try the pea falafel wrap, the salads (the vegetarian cobb with mushroom 'bacon' is great when they have it!) their chicken Waldorf salad, and, of course, the brownies! read more

I came to Certe with an expired Groupon when the store was closed. I was amazed that Carlos was friendly, and even though the place shut down, he cooked me both orders and was friendly. In these situations most restaurants give some excuse that Groupon wouldn't let them honor the Groupon last expiration, but that was not the case here. FYI - This rating is for the service and not the food. Our company used Certe catering for one of our events. I went through a catering organizer to get our orders prepared. She was friendly but very disorganized. Her response time was slow and I always had to send a follow up email to get a reply back. The invoice was wrong (address, phone numbers, delivery time, orders, contact name, basically everything) and I had to have it revised a few times before it was 95% correct. I was so worried that something would go wrong at the event. The attention to detail was really bad and I felt like I should have ordered it myself online. I would have finished it in a day instead of it taking TWO WEEKS. Lesson learned for next time, if there is a next time... But the food was good and everything came on time (phew) so thankfully the senior managers had no idea the hassle it took to get it all organized. read more

Certe is by far one of my favorite places to order lunch from at work. Their taco salad is AMAZING. Top it off with the shrimp al la planca, you won't regret it. The food is delicious and fresh and a great on a Friday. I will warn you the taco salad is very filling so be prepared for a lazy afternoon. The best bet is to pre-order the sandwich to pick up at a certain time, as opposed to walking in and ordering (last time I waited over 20 minutes - which is a joke in terms of NY lunch rush standards).
