What's the first thing you think of when you have to go to a mechanic to get your vehicle checked out? You probably cringe and start thinking about where you're going to have to shift your money around because you know you're going to go in for one issue and find out you have 50 more to worry about. Well I'm convinced you won't have to worry about that at Certified Auto Repair, Inc. unless you really do have 51 issues with your vehicle...lol! And if you do, this is the place to take it because apparently they're one of the few shops around that specialize in damn near every issue you can have with your vehicle. Talk about a one stop shop! Anyway, I went in for some electrical issues I was having today. The owners were genuinely pleasant and welcoming. And not that "I'm about to take all your money" kinda welcoming. These folks were honestly as nice as they come when it comes to customer service. So nice that I even overheard Greg (the owner) talking to one of his customers on the phone about their vehicle and why it didn't make sense for them to spend money repairing a part that was causing the check engine light to illuminate. Apparently, the part wasn't affecting anything, as it was simply malfunctioning. Now how many mechanics have you come across who would take potential money out of their own pocket so their customer could save a little? Go ahead, I'll wait while you think. I personally don't know any! Which leads me to why I felt it necessary to spend 10 minutes figuring out the email address and password for my Yelp account - I truly value great customer service! Though Certified Auto Repair isn't that close to my residence, from now on they will be my first choice when getting my vehicle looked at, once it can make the distance. My bill wasn't ridiculously high, but when it comes to vehicle repairs, you seldom plan for the expense. That said, as corny as it sounds, their welcoming spirit left me happy to give them my business. Oh, and apparently I'm late when it comes to these guys. The walls in their office are LITTERED with awards and articles about the good work they do. I brought my car in to have the brakes worked on. I had been told by a Meinike shop that my front brakes had nothing left and that the rear brakes were very poor. Imagine my surprise when Greg took a look and said that the brakes were fine! He said that he'd made a note in the computer last time I came in (some months ago) that the brakes had 50% left. I veered from the dealer for the first time to check out Certified at the strong recommendation of my boyfriend, who has been a happy customer for a few years. I am so happy I did! From the minute I spoke with them on the phone, I could tell I was in good hands. The woman who answered scheduled my service and then patiently gave me detailed directions to their location. Google Maps takes you to the wrong street, but I found it easily with the directions. You can also enter the location for A & M Auto Service, which is right next door. Very conveniently Certified is across the street from the Rockville metro, allowing for easy transport once you drop off your car. I needed a basic service and also asked them to check why the system warning light for my car was on. I dropped off the car and got a call the same day explaining that everything was linked to the tire gauges that communicate with my car's system to provide the pressure reading. The owner patiently explained the problem and what the fix would require, but in no way pressured me to correct it since it's really a superficial issue. I ultimately decided to move forward with the fix and was given a reasonable quote that was significantly less than what the dealer had asked for months ago. But then! The owner called back the next day and explained that he had ordered the replacement parts and tested them with the system without opening the packaging. This caused the existing gauges to start communicating again - no replacement needed! I picked up the car the next day and walked out paying less than the service cost at my dealer. I am so impressed with the owners' ingenuity, kindness, and dedication to their customers. Plus they have a sweet dachshund who sits in the waiting area - what more could you ask for? I will definitely be back at Certified for my next service and tell all my friends about my positive experience! read more
