This was one of my favorite sushi place until today. I paid my tab with apple pay literally saw my bank notification and apple notifications when the payment went through. The waiter came back saying that the payment didn't show on their end and that it was giving them an error message . I called my bank to verify it did, my bank said yes. They wanted to charge me a second time. I argue calmly with them that it was not okay. They were pretty sure it didn't reflect; the owner or who ever was in charge called her system they VERIFIED IT INDEED CHARGE ME. They were trying to take my card information. They said to pay again and if it did in-fact go through they could give me cash Monday for the second transaction. They had the cooks and waiters talking to me to just pay a second time. I understand accidents happen but the person charging her attitude SUCKED! In situations like this i feel like the need to handle things differently. Definitely wont be coming back ever again. Honestly, I wasn't very impressed with out experience here. After reading many raving reviews about how good the sushi was here I was a little bit disappointed. One of the things this restaurant seems to pride themself in is having large (like really large) sushi rolls. I felt like they were going more for quantity than they were for quality. The waitress gave us some recommendations for what she thought would be a good variety of fish and flavors and unfortunately I felt like they all were very similar. We really did not like the baked roll. Don't get that unless you enjoy sushi that feels likes it's been in a warming drawer. The wait staff was nice and brought out the food pretty quick, but I could tell they were trying to get us out of there so they could turn the table over quickly. On top of that, for just my husband and I we spent over $100 on this sushi in a strip mall. Overall, unfortunately this wasn't the experience we were hoping for. I came here on Friday around 5PM so it was half full only. I usually get the Brandon roll which this times lesser fishes and seem smaller roll. The poke salad was also less fish since I order full-size. The unagi bowl rice was good. The vegetables tempura was good too. Services was fast and the foods came out quick too. I came in and out less than an hour. It was good but not that memorable as how I remember it before. Every time my mom would see a busy restaurant she would say "it must be good in there" and I feel thats the case with Cha Cha. Be prepared to wait around 10-30 min on a busy day. They take down your name and you need to wait outside to be called. Luckily my friend and I didnt have to wait too long. I would say the only con about this place is how tiny it is and it gets pretty packed. Our table was right next to entrance and luckily everyone was being watchful of where they were walking; also the people entering were super close to where we were eating which wasn't my favorite. BUT their sushi makes up for it, the food was amazingggggg. The menu includes pictures which I love and all their rolls sounded so yummy. For appetizers we chose the vegetable tempura which was served with a sauce (10/10). For the rolls we went with the Crunch and the Red Dragon (10/10) but the crunch was hands down my favorite. I've never heard of Cha Cha Sushi, but I'm so glad I stumbled upon this place from Yelp! I knew it was gonna be good since there was still a line to be seated at 1:30pm! We got bar seating, as it was the first available. We ordered agedashi tofu, Jordan roll, golden gate, and unagi hand rolls.... and we were stuffed! It was delicious. A little on the "wet" end for rolls, as sometimes they fell apart when grabbed, but so delicious. The service was fast and everyone was so nice! What I received in my to go order was so sloppy, low quality, not fresh and a slap in the face to the art of sushi. I was really excited to discover this place on Yelp - seeing as it had the highest number of reviews for a sushi restaurant in San Jose. I took photos of my rolls immediately after receiving them- the avocado on the rolls looked like it had been oxidizing for a long time. It was old, browning and disgusting. I was wondering if this was a one off time but any restaurant that would think this is fine and their best/good enough to serve to a customer...I take it as a clear sign that they have low standards as far as quality goes. Who and where was the expediter? Or do they not have one? The way that my rolls were cut in such a haphazard sloppy way. Some rolls were so thick and some very skinny. Never in my life have I seen rolls cut in such a sloppy careless manner. The rice was subpar. Not sure why only 1 of my photos is showing when I uploaded 5. The only reasons I can think of that people might like this place are: 1. Their palate is used to mediocre sushi and they don't know what they're missing 2. The food also comes out very quickly, even if it's super busy inside. I've tried quite a few items from the menu here, but my current favorites are the Ocean Side roll & the Red & Gold roll. The ika sashimi has been a go-to order for me for years, there's just no place that has decently priced, fresh ika sashimi like Cha Cha does. It's not fishy, perfectly chewy, and there's a decent portion! Also a plus that they cover it in masago. The fish here is very fresh, never fishy, and the rolls are worth the price. There's a great fish-to-rice ratio and I never feel like they've skimped out on anything. The Ocean Side roll is crazy! The amount of scallops they give you on top is insane, it's practically drowned in them and I love it! What surprised me was the udon. I believe the price was nearly $20 but it came out enough to feed us all and more. Gavin originally wanted udon for himself but once we saw how big the portion was, hell-yeah! The broth is very light and flavorful.. the beef was not chewy. It was tender and juicy. We enjoyed the agedashi tofu.. lightly fried. The gyoza was delicious, too but they skimped on the filling. I don't remember anything about the rolls we ordered other than we finished it all because we didn't want to waste it nor did we want to bring it home. These rolls are HUGE and one is filling enough to be an entire meal. The Brandon roll is a California roll topped with salmon, tuna, and yellowtail chunks. It's like a chirashi donburi in roll form. The Black Widow and Titanic has whole soft shell crab and eel in it. I love soft shell crab and unagi so I have to get these every time. They give you a lot of soy sauce, ginger, and wasabi.
