We love everything we ordered. Especially Hamachi Kama and sushi. They were amazing! Sashimi was fresh and so yummy. The owner was so nice and kind. We love to go back there soon!!

This place always gets recommended to me so I figured I'd give it a try. The ambiance is nice, there's a sushi bar plus indoor and and outdoor seating. The service was great. The sushi chefs were really friendly and the wait staff as well. The sushi itself was just delicious. I especially enjoyed the roll with no rice. As far as price goes, I feel like it's pretty average. Definitely will be back as I really enjoyed my food!

My daughter was at a birthday party for two hours so I decided to grab lunch. Ginza Sushi was near by so decided to try it. It was in the middle of the day so the restaurant was not too busy. I was seated right away and took my time browsing through the menu. I decided on the Crazy Mango Roll and Otoro on the Rock. The mango roll was delicious as expected but that otoro? Premium bluefin tuna belly. That was how do you say it, chef's kiss. The slices were huge and literally melted in my mouth. Definitely a splurge every and now and then. The restaurant size is small, just one room but looks big because of the high ceiling. They had a cute display area set up for Halloween in a corner. Service is super friendly and I did not feel rushed to order my food but they did come by to check up on me. Next door is a dessert place so I hopped on over right after lunch.

I was craving a good California roll so my husband suggested Ginza. They have a wide variety. We decided to call in the order for pick up. The gentleman who took our order was very nice and knowledgeable of the items on the menu. Everything (3 types of California rolls, Teriyaki bento box & spicy tuna hand roll) we ordered was fresh and delicious! I'm very happy that I gave this place a try. I'll be back for sure.

Solid sushi spot, I would recommend you come try the rolls here. They have a good variety to pick from and an extensive menu at that, with everything from sashimi to bento boxes. There's a lot of seating and the waiters are nice.

This review is long overdue, and for a reason too. If you came here several months ago, you would've been met with poor service and food too. Personally I don't like leaving bad reviews, only good ones to the establishments that do deserve it. But after hearing that management and staff completely changed, I decided to give this place a couple tries again. I was pleasantly surprised that the service and food quality have gotten WAY better. Located in the same shopping center as the well known Goku establishment, this restaurant gives off a casual, family friendly vibe. Lots of seating, as well as a sushi bar seating too. As for the sushi, the quality is fresh (at least for me whenever I go and order, idk about all the other people in the recent reviews saying quality is below par. But I trust my palate to be saying this), and the portions are ample when compared to the price. Service is also very attentive towards your needs. Very welcoming, hospitable, and quick to help. The BENTO BOXES are AMAZING btw. There's a lot of selections for your 2 item or 3 item bento box, and you can't really fuss with the weekday lunch price for these. The price also applies to both takeout AND dine in. Rolls and appetizers are great as well, generous portions/fillings for what you're paying for. This is a solid sushi spot for the South San Jose area. While prices do get kinda high for DoorDash and UberEats (as expected for 3rd party delivery apps), they do accept call-in takeout orders as well as website takeout orders as well, this way you can beat those 3rd party app prices. Definitely try this spot out and see for yourself!

Ask the Community - Ginza Sushi

Is there a new owner? Entirely new staff today, new application for alcohol license posted, service fee gone. Seemed like several changes since we last dined there a few weeks ago

Ownership is the same, and we have had change in staff for opportunities to grow or for family reasons. We still have employees that have been with us for 4-5 years. We did get a new alcohol license. We will not have that service fee for any parties…

Are dog's allowed for outdoor patio dining?

    Always. We’re dog friendly.

Are there any new items or specials that aren't listed on the menu? The only one I see is the Area 51 roll. Thanks

Our Sushi Chefs have a ton of experience. Have a roll in mind that you don’t see, feel free to go up to them and ask. They welcome a challenge and are happy to try to please all guests.

Do they have gluten free soy sauce?

Do they have all you can eat?

    Nope!

There has been a couple of instances where it's been super awkward interacting with team members. It was noticed that employees were not changing their gloves as frequent as would be expected. Staff use the same gloves to touch surfaces through out the work station then move right to handling food. One instance I asked that gloves be changed which caused a sense of unpleasantness from said staff member. Who then proceeded to make my wrap extra small. Another time, a Chicken Caesar Wrap was ordered where egg an bacon was added. This was very troubling as it was not noticed until after a few bites were taken. I've not eaten pork in many years. Unfortunately, there is no way of contacting a manager by phone. I went in to speak someone in person who was kind enough to remake the order. Last night, I went in for a Caesar Wrap and tried to request changing of gloves in a discreet way. Somehow there was a confusion which confused the request as an Allergy? A couple of staff members spoke amongst themselves which was pretty awkward. It was requested that gloves be changed that seems to be a trigger? The lady continued making the order then stopped to check me out. To much dismay, immediately began rolling the wrap together. By this point, It was too much. I ate the inside of the wrap only. It's a huge shame but moving forward I'll only order food which is minimally touched by employees. This will spare the ordeal of asking that gloves be changed? One more bit of observation is that to go orders for salad have an slip sitting right onto food bowls.

Then about a week ago I got the crispy Thai brussels sprouts, and they were DELICIOUS! Today I got chicken tenders and the elote side dish. The chicken tenders were good and reminded me of fast food I used to get as a kid. I kinda regretted the meal afterwards because it was a lot of sodium and fried food not the healthiest choice. I am watching my weight and fried chicken probably is not the best choice for that. Starbird gave me a free $10 reward after my first purchase. I would probably go back and get either a salad or the brussels sprouts again. They do have the option of grilled chicken on a salad, so that's probably what I would get. I don't want to regain the 90 pounds I lost. Overall, Starbird is a good fried chicken restaurant with some healthy options like salads. Ambiance inside the restaurant is rushed, it's a popular restaurant and most often busy and crowded inside. You can order at a kiosk and that speeds things along. The food is usually ready quickly and you pick up at the shelves, they have a sign telling you once your order is ready.

I've been here a few times, and I honestly don't know why I haven't reviewed this place yet…read more The moment you walk into Manresa Bread, you're greeted right away. The space has a modern yet warm feel with beautiful natural wood finishes, fresh loaves of sourdough lining the shelves, pastries displayed in the case, and a mix of large communal wood tables, regular seating, and high-top tables. It's the kind of café that makes you want to slow down and stay awhile. The staff was friendly and helped us choose both a pastry and our toast. They were also happy to customize our order--we asked for the levain sourdough toast with butter instead of the usual olive oil. That toast was absolutely divine. The sourdough had the perfect balance: chewy without being too sour, with a crust that was crisp but not so hard that it fought back. Easily the best sourdough toast I've had in the Bay Area. If you come here, this is the one thing you have to order. The only disappointment was the butter. They serve French butter, but for an extra $2, the portion was tiny and honestly nothing special. I've had better butter from Whole Foods. It didn't take away from how incredible the bread was, but it wasn't worth the upcharge. Their Kouign-amann is also one of the best I've ever had. Instead of the typical flat, flaky style, theirs is taller with countless buttery layers that create an amazing texture. The cappuccino was another highlight. It had subtle notes of orange peel, whiskey, and cardamom, making it unique. The latte art was beautiful too. Overall, Manresa Bread is one of those cafés that makes you want to sit down with a laptop or a book and spend a few hours there. The only downside is there are no power outlets, so come with a full battery if you're planning to work. Must orders: Levain sourdough toast with butter and the Kouign-amann. 1st time here. A friend invited me to join her, and said it was where many of her co-workers ate…read more The short version is: my meal was very sub-par, and way over-priced. The details: I normally don't eat a lot of meat, so I chose the Falafel Salad. It came with extremely little lettuce, plus a few olives (which I don't eat), onions (which I also eat sparingly), tomatoes, cucumbers, and the falafel balls. Oh! And there was feta cheese, but those were such miniscule pieces, and so few, that I wouldn't have remembered it was supposed to be part of the salad, if I didn't just pull up a photo online with their ordering system. What you see in the photo online is not what you get. The photo actually looks like a salad. Since it was called a salad, I expected there to be more lettuce, than the few pieces on the plate. I mainly was cutting up the cucumber & tomato pieces to go with the falafels. I don't even recall any dressing. There were also some pita slices with what I assumed was hummus. Whatever the dip was, it did not taste good to me at all. So I left all of the pita bread, as well, since it was dry without anything on it. Maybe what I assumed was hummus was a dressing. Hard to know, but it was not tasty. For the $27 I paid at a walk up counter, I would have expected much better food! I have bought frozen falafels at Lunardis (around $7) and made a salad for them at home, and enjoyed it very much, which is why I ordered it. I have purchased Spanakopita at the store many times, (about $5 for around 12 of them at the store) and made them at home, which is why I didn't order that. The falafel salad was not an enjoyable meal for me at Yiassoo's. I'd also seen some reviews from a few years back that said they paid around $10 or $11 for their meal. That is more in-line price-wise with what you get, based upon my meal. With most of the meals around $20 for lunch, I feel they were very over-priced. I also asked my friend if she'd like to split a Baklava. They had a pistachio one & chocolate one. My friend wanted to try the chocolate one, so I bought that. I didn't think I was too into baklava, but thought it might be nice to try at this highly rated Greek restaurant. The main flavor that came through was the honey & nuts. The chocolate was just a tiny, narrow drizzle on top. I didn't hate it, but I would never order it again. My friend took one bite, and said she mainly tasted the honey, and would take it home for her husband. It may be very good baklava, but it was not to our tastes. My friend ordered the Gyro salad. It had a large pile of shaved meat, and she seemed to enjoy it. She ordered it To-Go, as she knew she'd be taking some of it home. She seemed to have more lettuce under her pile of meat than my meal got. Maybe because it was in a To-Go box, which might be larger than the plate? Or maybe the person making my salad just wasn't paying attention to how to make a decent meal. I was hoping I was trying a restaurant that I could go back to for something different. Based upon my experience, I would not go back, if I had a choice. I gave it 3 stars, because maybe other dishes, or people looking to just eat meat or falafel balls and not much else would enjoy it. I only have the 1 meal to review, but it does not encourage me to try it again. Overpriced & not a fulfilling meal.

Just never got around to working a review before. Went early on a Saturday evening recently and was surprised to not have to wait. We split a Bibb lettuce salad that was simple, refreshing and perfect. A tiny pea fritter was the very definition of a small bite, and while it wasn't what I expected, it was crisp and tender. Grilled artichoke was one of the best I have ever had. (Just wish they had been explicit on the menu that it was a half a grilled artichoke). Cocktails were up to their usual high standard -- rye Manhattan for the BF and clarified milk punch for me. I don't get out much these days and I rarely drink alcohol, but is $20 a lot for a cocktail? Or is that normal now? They were great though. BF got the ribeye with morels, which was perfectly cooked and unbelievably tender. I had the burger, which was more exciting than it sounds, dressed with a wild combo of veggies, cheese and bacon while still managing to be harmonious and fresh tasting. Side of fries were crisp and tasty, though not as perfectly hot as I would ideally wish. Because the burger was late coming out, or server (Bernardo I think?) comped us an amazing little dish of vanilla soft serve ice cream with olive oil and sea salt, along with the butterscotch pudding that we ordered. The pudding didn't have the strong butterscotch flavor that I hoped for, but the vanilla ice cream stole the dessert show. OCK isn't a place I can afford often, but I still really like it. I appreciate the creativity of the dishes, the quality ingredients, and the bar. And the old-school shopping center vibe of the Pruneyard is low key festive and garden-like.
