Since we discovered Ginza Sushi, we have continued to return to celebrate many important moments. Tonight was our 30th anniversary. But we don't really Need a reason, we love the food and atmosphere. The waiters are excellent as well.

After an appt, we decided to get lunch and Ginza Sushi popped up. After reading some reviews, we decided to give them a try. They are located in the Hacienda Gardens Shopping Center. A spacious and modern decor with Japanese motif. A large painted wall captures your sight. They offer a nice sushi bar to sit at. A few tvs around the restaurant to catch a glimpse of whatever is playing. Only one unisex restroom. The service was very friendly, patient, and attentive. Lunch Special Bento (served with miso soup, salad, and steamed rice): chicken teriyaki, California roll, veggie tempura, & gyoza (4/5). My mom enjoyed it as she ate almost everything! 3-item Bento Box (served with miso soup, salad, and steamed rice): mix tempura, salmon shioyaki, and salmon sashimi (+$4). The dressing on the salad was pretty good. The fry on the tempura was light and crunchy. I did order the shioyaki but the salmon had teriyaki sauce on it. I had no problem as I like teriyaki sauce. The piece was a bit small. The salmon sashimi was decent sized cuts and the salmon tasted fresh and clean. I'll be back to try some rolls, etc. Support your local business.

We love everything we ordered. Especially Hamachi Kama and sushi. They were amazing! Sashimi was fresh and so yummy. The owner was so nice and kind. We love to go back there soon!!

This place always gets recommended to me so I figured I'd give it a try. The ambiance is nice, there's a sushi bar plus indoor and and outdoor seating. The service was great. The sushi chefs were really friendly and the wait staff as well. The sushi itself was just delicious. I especially enjoyed the roll with no rice. As far as price goes, I feel like it's pretty average. Definitely will be back as I really enjoyed my food!

My daughter was at a birthday party for two hours so I decided to grab lunch. Ginza Sushi was near by so decided to try it. It was in the middle of the day so the restaurant was not too busy. I was seated right away and took my time browsing through the menu. I decided on the Crazy Mango Roll and Otoro on the Rock. The mango roll was delicious as expected but that otoro? Premium bluefin tuna belly. That was how do you say it, chef's kiss. The slices were huge and literally melted in my mouth. Definitely a splurge every and now and then. The restaurant size is small, just one room but looks big because of the high ceiling. They had a cute display area set up for Halloween in a corner. Service is super friendly and I did not feel rushed to order my food but they did come by to check up on me. Next door is a dessert place so I hopped on over right after lunch.

I was craving a good California roll so my husband suggested Ginza. They have a wide variety. We decided to call in the order for pick up. The gentleman who took our order was very nice and knowledgeable of the items on the menu. Everything (3 types of California rolls, Teriyaki bento box & spicy tuna hand roll) we ordered was fresh and delicious! I'm very happy that I gave this place a try. I'll be back for sure.

Solid sushi spot, I would recommend you come try the rolls here. They have a good variety to pick from and an extensive menu at that, with everything from sashimi to bento boxes. There's a lot of seating and the waiters are nice.

This review is long overdue, and for a reason too. If you came here several months ago, you would've been met with poor service and food too. Personally I don't like leaving bad reviews, only good ones to the establishments that do deserve it. But after hearing that management and staff completely changed, I decided to give this place a couple tries again. I was pleasantly surprised that the service and food quality have gotten WAY better. Located in the same shopping center as the well known Goku establishment, this restaurant gives off a casual, family friendly vibe. Lots of seating, as well as a sushi bar seating too. As for the sushi, the quality is fresh (at least for me whenever I go and order, idk about all the other people in the recent reviews saying quality is below par. But I trust my palate to be saying this), and the portions are ample when compared to the price. Service is also very attentive towards your needs. Very welcoming, hospitable, and quick to help. The BENTO BOXES are AMAZING btw. There's a lot of selections for your 2 item or 3 item bento box, and you can't really fuss with the weekday lunch price for these. The price also applies to both takeout AND dine in. Rolls and appetizers are great as well, generous portions/fillings for what you're paying for. This is a solid sushi spot for the South San Jose area. While prices do get kinda high for DoorDash and UberEats (as expected for 3rd party delivery apps), they do accept call-in takeout orders as well as website takeout orders as well, this way you can beat those 3rd party app prices. Definitely try this spot out and see for yourself!

We had another great meal here on Monday. Service is always fast and friendly and the portions are quite generous. We had bento boxes and sushi. Everything was fresh and delicious. This is our go to place in the Cambrian area. I can't recommend it more highly. They take is also quite good. Prices are average and parking is easy.

Ask the Community - Ginza Sushi

Is there a new owner? Entirely new staff today, new application for alcohol license posted, service fee gone. Seemed like several changes since we last dined there a few weeks ago

Ownership is the same, and we have had change in staff for opportunities to grow or for family reasons. We still have employees that have been with us for 4-5 years. We did get a new alcohol license. We will not have that service fee for any parties…

Are dog's allowed for outdoor patio dining?

    Always. We’re dog friendly.

Are there any new items or specials that aren't listed on the menu? The only one I see is the Area 51 roll. Thanks

Our Sushi Chefs have a ton of experience. Have a roll in mind that you don’t see, feel free to go up to them and ask. They welcome a challenge and are happy to try to please all guests.

Do they have gluten free soy sauce?

Do they have all you can eat?

    Nope!

I almost asked if someone could help the to-go person, because she was working hard on 4 separate orders. I literally could've ordered in line and gotten my food faster. We were seated outside and I did not get a chance to go to the inside. The outdoor is decorated with fake green plants and heat lamps are installed. It's comfortable. Some of the white chairs looked quite dirty, though. It was a birthday party with a white dress code, so I was a bit concerned. The cocktail menu is beautiful. We tried Butterfly Effect, Espresso Martini, Caffe Al Pistachio, and Thai Strawberry Thing. I found the Butterfly Effect refreshing, but I like my Espresso Martini the most because it's creamy and tasty. The alcohol bitterness was covered up well. If you like sweeter drinks, the Caffe Al Pistachio and Thai Strawberry Thing tasted like candy. The Caffe Al Pistachio did not look like the picture on the menu; there's no layer of pistachio foam on top. We ordered so much food! -Mexican Street Corn: nicely presented and tasted fine. It's a bit hard to cut into smaller pieces however. -Shrimp Ceviche: ok, good portion for a large party to share. The chopped shrimp was a bit too small for me. -Buffalo Cauliflower: Slightly like the Indian cauliflower dish but I love how chunky the cauliflower is and how soft the texture is. -Fried Chicken Sando: good sando, but hard to be bad with fried food. So it's a safe choice if you don't know what to order. -Loco Moco: We were asked how well we wanted the steak to be and our choice of egg; which seems strange to me to imagine having scrambled eggs on top. I like the dish in general; we doesn't like burger patty, eggs and gravy sauce. -Uncle Dave's Chili & Cornbread: Good chili, beany and tasty. The corn bread is also good in texture, dense but not crumbly. Any time there's an actual person's name on the dish picks up my curiosity and interest. -Jambalaya: The right amount of spiciness! The rice is soft, chewy and soaked up all the flavors. Good size and amount of shrimp. -Garlic Noodles with Salmon: The most popular dish on our table. Lots of chopped garlic making the noodles flavorful. Another safe choice if you don't know what to get. -Molten Chocolate Lava Cake: delicious, and the cake is baked just right. Soft in the inside, chocolaty and rich on the cake. -Ube Cheesecake: The most loved dessert with distinct ube flavor. -Churro Waffle: the waffles tasted chewy and it's a good portion with lots of fruit, ice cream, and chocolate sauce. It's a bit too sweet for me. The table provided forks and napkins but no knives. Some dishes came with a service spoon or knife, but we wish there were knives in the utensil holder so we can do more self help. One thing I am pleasantly surprised is the reasonable prices. Most entrees are under $20!

1st time here. A friend invited me to join her, and said it was where many of her co-workers ate…read more The short version is: my meal was very sub-par, and way over-priced. The details: I normally don't eat a lot of meat, so I chose the Falafel Salad. It came with extremely little lettuce, plus a few olives (which I don't eat), onions (which I also eat sparingly), tomatoes, cucumbers, and the falafel balls. Oh! And there was feta cheese, but those were such miniscule pieces, and so few, that I wouldn't have remembered it was supposed to be part of the salad, if I didn't just pull up a photo online with their ordering system. What you see in the photo online is not what you get. The photo actually looks like a salad. Since it was called a salad, I expected there to be more lettuce, than the few pieces on the plate. I mainly was cutting up the cucumber & tomato pieces to go with the falafels. I don't even recall any dressing. There were also some pita slices with what I assumed was hummus. Whatever the dip was, it did not taste good to me at all. So I left all of the pita bread, as well, since it was dry without anything on it. Maybe what I assumed was hummus was a dressing. Hard to know, but it was not tasty. For the $27 I paid at a walk up counter, I would have expected much better food! I have bought frozen falafels at Lunardis (around $7) and made a salad for them at home, and enjoyed it very much, which is why I ordered it. I have purchased Spanakopita at the store many times, (about $5 for around 12 of them at the store) and made them at home, which is why I didn't order that. The falafel salad was not an enjoyable meal for me at Yiassoo's. I'd also seen some reviews from a few years back that said they paid around $10 or $11 for their meal. That is more in-line price-wise with what you get, based upon my meal. With most of the meals around $20 for lunch, I feel they were very over-priced. I also asked my friend if she'd like to split a Baklava. They had a pistachio one & chocolate one. My friend wanted to try the chocolate one, so I bought that. I didn't think I was too into baklava, but thought it might be nice to try at this highly rated Greek restaurant. The main flavor that came through was the honey & nuts. The chocolate was just a tiny, narrow drizzle on top. I didn't hate it, but I would never order it again. My friend took one bite, and said she mainly tasted the honey, and would take it home for her husband. It may be very good baklava, but it was not to our tastes. My friend ordered the Gyro salad. It had a large pile of shaved meat, and she seemed to enjoy it. She ordered it To-Go, as she knew she'd be taking some of it home. She seemed to have more lettuce under her pile of meat than my meal got. Maybe because it was in a To-Go box, which might be larger than the plate? Or maybe the person making my salad just wasn't paying attention to how to make a decent meal. I was hoping I was trying a restaurant that I could go back to for something different. Based upon my experience, I would not go back, if I had a choice. I gave it 3 stars, because maybe other dishes, or people looking to just eat meat or falafel balls and not much else would enjoy it. I only have the 1 meal to review, but it does not encourage me to try it again. Overpriced & not a fulfilling meal.
