We've heard about Gina sushi for a while, we were happy to be in the area for dinner. There's a wide selection of Japanese dishes! The staff were super friendly and the service was great. Our server even brought over a water cup for the kiddos, which was really wonderful. The bento had a wide selection and it's okay to repeat items as well which I find rare at more restaurants. The flavor of all the food was really delicious. The California roll was pretty nice and the tempura was fried really well. I enjoyed the udon, the sweet tofu was tasty and the broth was delicious. After an appt, we decided to get lunch and Ginza Sushi popped up. After reading some reviews, we decided to give them a try. They are located in the Hacienda Gardens Shopping Center. A spacious and modern decor with Japanese motif. A large painted wall captures your sight. They offer a nice sushi bar to sit at. A few tvs around the restaurant to catch a glimpse of whatever is playing. Only one unisex restroom. The service was very friendly, patient, and attentive. Lunch Special Bento (served with miso soup, salad, and steamed rice): chicken teriyaki, California roll, veggie tempura, & gyoza (4/5). My mom enjoyed it as she ate almost everything! 3-item Bento Box (served with miso soup, salad, and steamed rice): mix tempura, salmon shioyaki, and salmon sashimi (+$4). The dressing on the salad was pretty good. The fry on the tempura was light and crunchy. I did order the shioyaki but the salmon had teriyaki sauce on it. I had no problem as I like teriyaki sauce. Came here on a weekday for lunch. It's a nice casual and affordable place. Tried their nigiri moriawase special, which was kind of bland and underwhelming. Another mess. This is such a great restaurant in person but continually screws up delivery orders. They completely forgot my chirashi special. DoorDash refunded me the original amount plus 10%. Funny way to run a business when you have to cough up 10% on missing orders. read more

My daughter was at a birthday party for two hours so I decided to grab lunch. Ginza Sushi was near by so decided to try it. It was in the middle of the day so the restaurant was not too busy. I was seated right away and took my time browsing through the menu. I decided on the Crazy Mango Roll and Otoro on the Rock. The mango roll was delicious as expected but that otoro? Premium bluefin tuna belly. That was how do you say it, chef's kiss. The slices were huge and literally melted in my mouth. Definitely a splurge every and now and then. The restaurant size is small, just one room but looks big because of the high ceiling. They had a cute display area set up for Halloween in a corner. This review is long overdue, and for a reason too. If you came here several months ago, you would've been met with poor service and food too. Personally I don't like leaving bad reviews, only good ones to the establishments that do deserve it. But after hearing that management and staff completely changed, I decided to give this place a couple tries again. I was pleasantly surprised that the service and food quality have gotten WAY better. Located in the same shopping center as the well known Goku establishment, this restaurant gives off a casual, family friendly vibe. Lots of seating, as well as a sushi bar seating too. As for the sushi, the quality is fresh (at least for me whenever I go and order, idk about all the other people in the recent reviews saying quality is below par. But I trust my palate to be saying this), and the portions are ample when compared to the price. Service is also very attentive towards your needs. Very welcoming, hospitable, and quick to help. The BENTO BOXES are AMAZING btw. There's a lot of selections for your 2 item or 3 item bento box, and you can't really fuss with the weekday lunch price for these. The price also applies to both takeout AND dine in. Rolls and appetizers are great as well, generous portions/fillings for what you're paying for. This is a solid sushi spot for the South San Jose area. While prices do get kinda high for DoorDash and UberEats (as expected for 3rd party delivery apps), they do accept call-in takeout orders as well as website takeout orders as well, this way you can beat those 3rd party app prices. I suggested Ginza Sushi to another friend recently. We met up for lunch on a Tuesday at noon. There were only a few customers while we were there. My friend had the exact questions I had about the new menu, so she clarified for me so I didn't even have to ask our waiter. Even though the menu doesn't explicitly explain the way the lunch bento works, there are some visuals to help you see the different sections of items. Just select one item from each section. One of my friends had a Lunch Bento with sashimi and tempura. Another just had a Dragon Roll, and I had a 3-item bento lunch with Mixed Tempura, CA Roll, & Salmon Sashimi ($4 additional fee). Originally we wanted to eat at Goku; but, we arrived later than normal. Saw that the wait was 54-75 minutes!! Thankfully, I was a fast-thinker and we headed to Ginza, which was a fab idea! The atmosphere was fun - lively with the tvs on (not too loud though) along with the decor. The service was on point! We were seated immediately, our drinks were put through quickly, and our food arrived in no time. Staff checked on us often but weren't intrusive. I loved the variety of the rolls and I especially loved the My roll - I don't eat white rice. I hope they add more non-rice rolls &/or add the option of brown rice... that will make this place even better for those with dietary needs. Def going back... Instagram led us to this sushi place in San Jose. I immediately noticed that the restaurant was pretty empty, which surprised me because of their instagram following. After being seated, we showed them the videos they posted on Instagram and specifically asked for those rolls. My partner showed them a video as well and they said they didn't have that one either. The server said those rolls aren't on the menu. I questioned why they're being posted if they're not available. The server was kind of enough to go ask someone who would know if they were available. The server came back to tell us that those are "special" rolls and are not available. I told them that they should post the rolls that we can order on Instagram instead of posting rolls which are not available to order. It's obviously not the server's fault. This is a suggestion for PR and their management team who is posting false advertisements. After having no choice, I ended up ordering the crazy mango roll. He ordered the paradise roll. Oddly enough, they brought out our rolls separately. We tried several rolls, but the one that was delicious was the crazy mango roll! We ordered it twice because it had a wildly delicious flavor :) I'd only recommend the crazy mango roll. Overall, it's disappointing to drive to a restaurant to order what we had seen on Instagram to be told it's not available. Came here for dinner with a friend as soon as they opened at 5pm. The restaurant itself is really spacious and there's giant artwork on the walls. The service was good- they were really attentive. They have happy hour starting at 5 so we ordered off that menu and it was pretty worth it. Small bite/starters ranged from $6-$12 and the rolls also ranged from $6-$12. The quality of the fish was really good. The two nigiris were our favorite. The rolls were good but nothing crazy. The oysters were good and already dressed when they came out. The otoro truffle dish was a little underwhelming. The table was also a little dirty and my friend and I ended up getting some stains on our sleeves from the table. Absolutely disgusting experience. I've eaten sushi all over San Jose and this was by far the worst. The moment I walked in and saw little gnats buzzing around the sushi bar, I should've trusted my instincts and left. But nope -- I stayed... and regretted it. The fish tasted off, the rice texture was weird, and the whole environment just felt unclean and careless. Literally made me sick to my stomach afterward -- I spent the rest of the night regretting every bite. The fact that this place is serving raw fish in those conditions is ridiculous. I will NEVER be back, and I honestly don't know how this place survives with that level of hygiene and quality. If you care about freshness and cleanliness, do yourself a favor and go anywhere else. read more

Unfortunately, they didn't have oysters that day, so a point off on service. So far, all the rolls are decent and I like how it's perfectly rolled, not falling off when you pickup to eat. This place is good but service was not . The manager came up to us asking why I did not tip. The crazy part is the bill was split in half and the other person had put the tip for the total bill. When I explained she keeps saying why did I put 0 . I was so frustrated because who goes to a table asking why you didn't tip, the sad part is we did and wish we could have taken it back it was too late . Worst manager ever ! Not a bad place, but also nothing that really sets it apart from the sea of other run-of-the-mill Japanese restaurants you can find sprinkled across the South Bay. The prices are average, bordering on high, but if you are just interested in sushi it will probably hit the spot as all the sashimi and rolls were of decent quality though the Tamago (egg) sushi that comes with some of the dishes was absolutely terrible, almost inedible. The Beef Teriyaki was well-done bordering on charcoal briquet, and the Tempura was a little over battered and greasy though at least they give you a very generous portion so you won't leave hungry. Apart from the food, the restaurant interior is a single high-ceilinged room lined in imposing black wood planking and packed with tables that somehow leaves the place feeling cramped and cavernous at the same time. Some of the dishware such as the bento boxes were showing a lot of wear-and-tear, and they seemed to have run out of clean cups so they served us water in plastic to-go cups with lids and straws which felt like they belonged next to a ballpark hot dog rather than a nice sit-down dinner. All in all, the atmosphere and general dining experience certainly left something to be desired. I didn't leave dissatisfied, but it certainly won't be finding its way onto my go-to list of Japanese restaurants. read more

We usually have a good dining experience here. However, tonight was not one of those nights. For one person in our party, the food came out after everyone was pretty much done. That ruined the overall dinner mojo and put them in a bad mood for the remainder. No wasabi on our sushi, had to wait to eat until the server brought it. After we were done, had to wait a long time for the bill. We asked for a togo box. The server said he would be right back with it and never returned. We had to ask someone else for the box. On a positive note, the food was decent and they did give us a discount on the late entree. Hopefully the service will be better in the future. Bad service can definitely ruin a dinner even if the food is good; especially at today's prices. read more

We decided to visit new place to celebrate some family event. Ordered baked sushi , himachi roll and philadelphia roll. Himachi was excellent as expected. Fresh, fatty and soft. Philadelphia Roll had cream cheese and salmon , som salmon was so veiny so i could not even make it soft with my teeth. It was not a sushi grade salmon. Perhaps left over from main cut or very old. Brr. When i ordered baked roll i expected hot and jucy. When we started to eat Lion King baked roll fish on top was cooked well but inside was barely warm and rice was very dry and felt as undercooked. Service was good, no issues. Food was not.
