I don't know what dressing they use but it was so both sweet and acidic, perfect combination, and relatively cheap ($3.50!) The rolls are huge and filled with generous amounts of fish, and the servers are always kind and efficient. The service was top-notch, with friendly and attentive waitstaff. There was this new waiter who had a constant smile and checked up on us regularly. The place can get busy, so be prepared for a wait on weekends, but weekdays are usually less crowded. I really enjoyed their Home Run roll but it initially only came with tempura and cucumber so I asked to add crab since I felt it was lacking but they were really accommodating and adding the imitation crab was $3 extra. It has a sushi bar and 7-8 tables to seat people down in the party of 2 or 4-6 depends who is with you. The ladies inside were great. Got some great service and very informative about the sushi rolls. I had to try the Highway 87 and Splash Brothers rolls. I liked the splash brothers more than the Highway 87 because the Splash Brothers did not have any fried tempura. I am not a fan of any fried foods. The fried tempura flakes gives me heart burn. But the 87 did have some black fish eggs. I thought it was caviar. Reason I chose the 87 was for the real soft-shell crab. I did not want any imitation crab, so the waitress made me aware of which plates has the real crab. I also got the Edamame and some Hot tea. Reason I gave it a 4 star and not 5 The tea was Lukewarm not hot and not steaming like a hot drink should. The Edamame had a couple of strings that were flat and old. Missing some beans inside. I ate them all. For the price they charge I expect the product to be perfect. From the Hot tea to the full bowl of Edamame beans. I will return and bring my wife. Blast from the past! I remember when this place first opened in the late 2000s. The place hasn't changed much aside from some additional tables being put in, and that it used to look more spacious back in the day. Yeah I haven't been back in over 8 years, and it's good to still see that it's kicking, and the food still tastes great! Everyone seems to order the Brandon Roll -- that's the one you want to try. It's essentially a poke bowl fashioned into a sushi roll. It has variety of fish on top of the sushi roll. We got: - Brandon Roll - 49ers - Hansen - Lion King - Chicken Teriyaki Dinner All rolls were good except maybe for the Hansen (I know thats a little weird because the owner's name is Hansen and I'm pretty sure it's named after him and not the 90s band Hanson I know I know it's spelled different it was a cheap attempt at a cheap joke work with me) Hansen roll was alright but kind of too overpowering with the cream cheese/crab mayo. I would've liked something to balance it out like some more acidity like jalapeños or something. I guess soy sauce would naturally do it too but it was definitely a heavy roll overall. The Chicken Teriyaki Dinner was great! Very nice chicken thighs roasted and smothered with teriyaki sauce. It's done very nicely here and doesn't take cheaply done at all. Parking is great, but boy is the restaurant pretty small. I felt really cramp in there, and felt very claustrophobic. We sat at the bar and luckily the bar table was spacious and one thing I like about Cha Cha's bar seating is it has double decker shelving to put plates on the top shelf and bottom shelf. You could comfortably fit 4 long plates of sushi rolls in front of you for a party of two. Other sushi restaurants only have one flat surface at the bar (look at my pic to see what I'm talking about). Service was extremely fast and the staff there were great. Our meal was ordered and all served within 5 minutes (minus the Lion King which they tell you up front it will take approx 10-15 minutes to bake) I kid you not. It's the most reviewed sushi restaurant in the South Bay, and it's easy to see why. This place is one of my favorite sushi spots in San Jose. Every time I come here, there's always a long wait with people outside. The rolls are pretty solid here and they have a large variety of items. When I came on a Friday night, the wait time was 45 minutes to an hour. However, the to-go wait time was 20-30 minutes. Last time, I ordered to-go and ordered the 49er Roll, Red & Gold & the King Kong roll. I definitely recommend the 49er roll if you like salmon. The lemon and salmon combination go so well together. The red & gold roll is good if you like spicy. The spiciness level was manageable. I enjoyed their miso soup as well. The fish rice ratio was pretty good for these rolls.
