SOOO GOOOOOD!!! It's our first time trying this chill little cafe tucked away in a tiny strip mall along Valley Blvd in Alhambra. My wife had the strawberry grapefruit tea (cold) and I tried the Yunnan Black Rice Milk Tea with oatmilk and evaporated milk (hot). We also got the pineapple buns with butter. All of it was super delicious, especially the pineapple buns with a very delicious pat of butter. Not sure what brand of butter, but it's really good. The guy working here was so nice, he gave us a couple of freshly made, piping hot egg custard tarts to sample (not sure if these were on the menu). Suffice to say, they were THE BEST egg tarts we ever had. Unfortunately, they will completely ruin any egg tarts we have in the future that aren't fresh out of the oven like these. We were here on a lazy Sunday afternoon, not crowded and soft pop music playing in the background made for a very relaxing environment - perfect for hanging out and long conversations. Ample free parking. And if you are a diabetic or just calorie-conscious you can customize the sugar level of your drink from zero to 100 percent (on most, if not all drink items). The people that work here are strange. I dont mean to sound disrespectful or Karenisque but these young, college kids were soooo uneducated and rude. My friends & I walked in, we stood there for about 5 minutes while the "employees" didn't even acknowledge us ONCE. Not even a "hello" or a "welcome." They saw us, but kept making whatever it was they were making & continuing their conversation avoiding any kind of contact. Some other kid walked in & they immediately started laughing and joking with this kid. The guy tried to step inside the work area & worker boy said "Do you work here bit__?" jokingly obviously, but out loud. Again, COMPLETELY disregarding us. We ordered at the kiosk, and it took about 30 minutes to get two drinks, not including having to go back since the worker forgot the toppings on my drink. The boba was hard and had no brown sugar flavor. The drinks are mediocre. The perk of this shop is that they are open late. Besides that, since this is my third time visiting. This is our favorite tea spot now. I used to be a big fan of boba milk tea and I don't think their boba milk is the best but it's good enough. I have tried their taro milk and it's pretty good. I normally get their watermelon smoothie and my husband loves the kumquat green tea here (25% sugar). We actually really like the store and would spend some time here working or talking to friends. The store has a few tables and it's usually not busy. It's quiet and bright. Tables and chairs are comfortable enough. Staff are really nice and welcoming. I don't know how this place is called Cha Express. It should be called Cha Delayed. Initially I wanted the creme brulee egg waffle but the worker did not take my order. Did not find it on the kiosk and ordered something else. Waited close to an hour for a $15 crepe with Vanilla ice cream and Oreo. Was not impressed and the crepe tasted so basic. The creme brûlée crepe was disappointing, not thin enough but doughy, like a pancake. The custard was also too watery. Egg waffle was lacking in flavor, and didn't have the smooth crisp texture on the outside or the right soft chew on the inside. Good customer service but the recipes just aren't right. read more

I have tried this franchise before and previously enjoyed their strawberry grapefruit tea. The first time I tried it, I was in the Bay Area and enjoyed the drink. This was a soft opening, but the drinks are already completely different and subpar compared to the other location. They took 15 minutes to make 4 drinks and were not well versed in the menu. I attached reference photos of what I was expecting(the drink in the middle of the three) and the drink I received. Loved the puff cream bubble ovaltine milk tea! I ordered mine with egg pudding and 75% sweet and it was perfect.

The drinks were actually pretty good, but the girl with the green hair who took our order was extremely rude. She seemed quite annoyed with us throughout the entire ordering process. This wasn't terrible, since everyone has off days. However, when we finished ordering, she went and trash talked us to her coworker. It was literally seconds after we ordered and we were still standing at the counter. I'm assuming she thought we didn't understand Mandarin since we ordered in English. I had the creme brulee crepe w/ pork sung & salted egg custard. I loveeeeeeed it. I wish the crepe was more crispy for sures. They have a woman who doesn't speak much English working in the front. The store was empty and with only one other group of customers inside, yet my order of 1 smoothie took over 20mins to make. To top it all off, the workers there that night (female then male) seemed to be not too friendly but i can understand as they were holding down the place as a one person team. But ultimate i would like some communication as a customer if my drink is going to take an ungodly amount of time to make. The worker didn't even start to make my drink until after 20mins of waiting. I know since he asked for my order and said he on it right now after me ordering 20mins ago. For further context, I locked myself out my car that night and had enough time to have someone get me a spare key from BALDWIN PARK to ALHAMBRA before my drink was even completed. If it wasn't stuck there i would've definitely asked for my money back and left ASAP after realizing how slow and bad customer service was (wasn't long since i quickly realized that nothing was being made on time) Also the guy worker was an a-hole for not letting a CUSTOMER use a chair outside while waiting for an order without making a fuse. Like bro go handle your store before yall get even more backed up. You got bigger problems that to worry about a chair. Drink was $6 and change but was worth next to nothing. Small cup and average flavor. Went inside to check it out since i was there for salju originally but i dont think i would be returning ever. I should've just got salju which was packed and still had faster lines.
