Chat Bhavan - we just love it here .Call it ambience, staff or the food .Always a fan . Arsch grewal was super nice to us and he surprised us with chocolate lava cake for his birthday today .My little one was 7 months old when he first ate rice and dal and it's his favorite restaurant and we come here without fail for his birthday apart from regular visits.

Worst experience ever! I was so disappointed in the service. I had asked for a knife and I watched him mock me to another employee. The rest of the evening I felt so uncomfortable. The chaat was okay but the paratha had no filling and was too crispy.

Very nice vegetarian Indian food, I often order online and pick up from Chaat Bhavan. Service is always polite and rapid for takeout, and ordering online is a breeze. My favorite dishes I've tried: the Dahi Papdi Chaat, vegetable biryani, and exotic Baigan bhartha. I also liked their Lacha Paratha to pair with their curries.

My beloved and I went here recently after going to the Shiva Vishnu Temple in nearby Livermore that is excellent reminding me of my over three years in India. Chaat Bhavan is pure veg. All vegetarian restaurant with no eggs. Only dairy. Jain options. Chef Paul Singh dishes up goodness here. Plenty of clearly marked vegan options on the menu. We ordered family style. We split the Aloo Baigan- eggplant + potatoes. Chana Masala- Chickpea Curry. Both were great. Five stars. We had it with cumin rice. No cumin. Only rice. That was 4 stars. Some tandoor whole wheat roti. Didn't seem as fresh from the oven so just 4 stars. Friendly service. Nice atmosphere. All in all four stars. For the main dishes yet the rice + roti could have been better. Love the Krishna murti, Guru Nanak + other deities on their shrine near the cashier at check out. Check them out!

Was the perfect size too, didn't feel sluggish or too full after eating which sometimes happens when I eat at places that have massive ones. I also tried Andhra Garelu for the first time and it's now my new favorite Indian food. For those who aren't familiar, the best way I can describe it is a savory doughnut without any frosting or toppings (taste a lot like potato/french fries to me, but staff told me it was made with flour not potatoes). It was the perfect thing to dip in the sauces I had leftover from my dosa. The staff here are also incredibly friendly and I enjoy coming here to catch up with them. You can't miss this spot if you are in the Pleasanton area and looking for tasty meal with excellent service!

The food was good overall, with a solid variety: chicken, mutton, and fish curries, biryani, several vegetarian dishes, mango lassi, sweets, curd rice, puri, vada, noodles, and hot tea. My personal favorites were the carrot halwa, mango lassi, and biryani. The only downside was how they handled the naan. Instead of having it at the buffet, they serve it directly to the table. With the rush, it was really hard to get any, we waited almost 20 minutes for our first (and only) basket. It would be much better if naan were available at the buffet or if they circulated it more frequently. On the plus side, they were quick about clearing plates. Prices are reasonable: $24.99 for adults and $11.99 for kids, with kids under five eating free.

Walked around the building looking for the entrance. Tripped at least once on uneven payment. Upon entering I was greeted, given a menu, assigned a seat at the bar. Seeing it was a drink menu, I asked for a food menu. After consultation with bartender, I ordered. He gave order to waitress. Never saw him again. 5ish minutes later, waitress came over to inquire what I wanted to drink. "Water" i replied. Water came 12 minutes later with my food. Offerings: South India fare: soup, entrees, salads, entrees, vegetarian, non-vegetarian. Also pasta, India habachi. Bites: Dakshin Chicken Chettinad (18.99) med. Spicy. Small bowl with big spoon -boneless chicken pieces slowly braised in a savory with many spices (garlic, cumin, black pepper, star anise, funnel seeds, kok slaps...), south curry leaves, and coconut. Every bite deliz. -very condensed savory mix with plentiful Unami. Hotness from peppers not chilis. Tandoori garlic naan (3.99) ordered this. Got plain. Tasted plain. Not spiciness. Desired garlic not to repel vampires but to lower my cholesterol. Didn't discover discrepancy till I checked receipt. When finished, I asked the new bartender for bill. He called waitress. She came over and asked can she clear plates? "Ok" I said. She did and disappeared. Asked bartender again for my bill. Decor is lots of bright lites, big dining area, 2 flatscreens tuned to sports. A fish tank with no fish, lots of hanging faux leaves from ceiling & the left wall. 3.5 stars Food wonderful. Service & decor underwhelming. Doubtful repeat.

Kodi Seekulu on sticks - also very tasty and tender but with everything else this didn't stand out 4. Lentil & Vegetable lollipop - for being vegetarian it was incredibly tasty 5.
