It's a big place and many families tend to have big parties here but we got our food pretty fast. I think it tasted very authentic but I'm not 100% sure. Every dish we had was delicious. read more

A great vegetarian place if you get the right things. Only had one bad dish here with Tandoori Malai Sizzler, described as vegetable marinated in yoghurt with Paneer. Well there were just bits of raw cabbage with all paneer, and it was very bland too. Our go to dishes are Makki di roti with excellent corn rotis, Jaipur's Masala (okra), pani puri (very refreshing mint sauce), Bhatura (warm chewy goodness), kheer and house thali if you would like to sample a bit of various things. This place is so delicious! We ordered a feast and I couldn't get enough of the gobi Manchurian which is a fried cauliflower tossed in a delicious spicy sauce. The service was quick and we were seated as soon as we arrived on a Monday evening. The inside was very spacious and had very nice decorations all around. Each dish was so mouthwatering and delicious! I came specifically because I was craving Pani Puri and my cravings were definitely satisfied. Also, the masala soda was a very different yet delicious drink that everyone should try when coming here. I also appreciated how nicely plated the desserts were (and delicious). read more

Growing up in the Mountain View area, Chaat Paradise was the go-to for my family when we wanted to chaat. However, as chaat food trucks started coming along in the South Bay, my family slowly weened off of Chaat Paradise and started going to said trucks, which just offered more quality chaat in my opinion. Quite frankly, I wasn't too surprised when they closed. When Chaat Bhavan replaced the space, I heard a lot of buzz both indirectly and directly. Props to the marketing team... I don't think I have ever seen a casual Indian (chain) restaurant with as much advertisement as I did here. Like many others, I somehow got wind of a 20% off coupon and decided to give this place a try with my family. The first change that is definitely noticeable is the interior and ambiance. You definitely felt like you were are at a canteen with Chaat Paradise and the interior is much more formal and welcoming here with Chaat Bhavan. They have also opened up the restaurant so it's a much bigger space than before. We got a couple of different dishes ranging from chaat items to their thaali. As far as the chaat goes, I was quite impressed. Again, with chaat food trucks, my standard for chaat has gone up quite a bit but the dishes definitely hit the mark. I wasn't crazy about the thaali but also take that statement with a grain of salt because as it is, I'm not a big fan of North Indian vegetarian thaalis. Overall, a great replacement for Chaat Paradise. This place will definitely be on my shortlist for takeout if my family is craving chaat! read more

I would describe this year's bird as "athletic" and result was rubbery & dry. I needed a second feast on my way home down 101. I saw on yelp that this place was open and off on a detour for me. The restaurant was surprisingly busy! Parties of 4 -10 people. 10 DoorDash folks rotating in and out. Whoa! Did other people need a second dinner too? Or were they smart and just ditch the dry fowl for ghee drizzled Indian dishes? The saag, bhindi, and baigen bartha were excellent. A bit sweeter than expected, like too much caramelized onion or sugar. Goes well with the parathas. All in all, I need a nap. read more

Really delicious food. Huge quantity for the price. The restaurant is on the nicer side with white tablecloths, and different servers for taking orders, serving drinks, and bringing food. Relatively new location, so restaurant is new, bright and clean. A lot of staff, but service was surprisingly off. One person came to take our order. He repeated it back to me in full. Ok great. Then another waiter came to our table and the first waiter repeated our order to the other waiter, to place via their digital system. The whole time standing literally on top of us at the table, so it was awkward on if they needed us or not. Ok fine...then they forgot to place the order for our naan. So literally after we've eaten everything and asked about the naan twice, they brought it out to us. I tried to cancel since we were done eating, but they said no, it was ready and then came back 5 min later to bring to us. As for food, it was pretty good overall as to expect in this chain. Hopefully they tighten up the service aspect. Looking to come back for the pani puri and dosa bar available weekend evenings. read more

My third visit in-person and great good yet again. Ragda patties are always solid: freshly fried and crunchy on the outside, piping hot and soft on the inside. I also got the tomato soup which was good, but not great. A little too sweet, and the onion in the soup was unnecessary in my opinion. The food is excellent, but the service is very poor. Part of my thali meal was delivered within a reasonable amount of time, but after that, the waiter disappeared and never checked on my table again until I asked for help from other staff members. Despite the fact that the restaurant was not full and there were many other servers working, the waiter ignored my table until I flagged down another employee and asked for boxes to take the remainder of my meal home. He forgot my dessert, and when I asked to take it to-go, he simply brought it to the table without the takeout box I requested. The kheer was lumpy with huge chunks of rice in it; not prepared well, though the flavor was good. My waiter never returned with the check, and since I had to leave, I went up to the register to pay. The female cashier took my payment, handed me the receipt, and simply turned her back to me without any acknowledgement or thanks for my business, which didn't leave me feeling that my patronage was appreciated. This was my second visit, and we experienced the same thing during that time, with appetizers coming very late in the meal and no help from the staff. It's really disappointing because the food is very good and the portions are generous, but they need to really step things up with their customer service if they want customers to return.
