Very rude customer service. I called the customer service asking if they had the inflatable T-Rex costume in stock. They are way overpriced - they are selling it for $119 whereas other retailers sell it for $48. I asked if they price matched. The guy (from the costume department) I was speaking to over the phone could have simply said, "No we do not price match." Instead, he told me in a very snarky tone, "We are a family owned business. If you want to price match, you can go to Walmart." Lots of local businesses price match. Even my optometrist (family-owned business) price matches my contact lenses to online retailers. I asked a valid question and got an unwarranted response from the staff. My big issue is not that they are overpriced but they are rude. I'll take my business elsewhere! read more

Elizabeth and Erik at Champion earlier today were GOLDEN! I am heading to volunteer at a LGBTQ youth camp next week, so I want to be as colorful as possible. Elizabeth was super patient with me and helped me find exactly what I was looking for among aisles and aisles of fabulous party gear. I found a great pair of rainbow leg warmers and due to my thick and juicy thunder thighs, I was unable to fit them on my legs. Elizabeth whipped out her seam rippers and volunteered to make a bit more room for me - and afterward, they fit perfectly. I found many zany sunglasses, a rainbow cape, a great extra-large bow, a hot dog hat, Pegasus wings and many other fabulous things to outfit me for my wonderful week at camp. One of the few costume retail stores in the area that has a varied supply of party and costumes. For city apartment living, this place is great. Window and door decor anyone? Any parties in your community room or rooftop? If you don't think you'll wear a costume again, just rent it. I love that they have makeup and contacts here as well. Came here for Halloween and they had a decked out quartet dressed as aristocrat zombie ghosts. Very festive! Anywho, the employees here were very knowledgeable and demoed how to use the products they had as well as what to buy for what you want to spend. This is also a great stop for other holidays as well. I was in search of a Helium Tank. I like the sound of my voice when after a few hits of the good stuff, okay!? I kid, I kid... Seriously though, wouldn't that make for some awesome Karaoke? But I digress.. I had hit up a few stores in the area and, nope- not a tank to be found. The nice woman at Freddy's told me I could find them at Sam's Club and at Target but I wasn't looking to make the drive up north as time was not permitting. Then someone said, "Champion Party Supply... You know, the one on Denny?" "Why, yes.. yes I do," I replied. "Thank you, kindly m'am.." I said as I tipped my hat (not really) and bid her adieu (more like, 'Thanks!'). Fast forward 10 minutes later- I roll up to Champion and like a Champ, they've got the EXACT tank I'm looking for about 3 feet from my face as I walk through the door. Several of them, actually which made for the most efficient one stop shopping trip I've ever been on. I grabbed the tank, paid my cash, and I was in and out before they could say "Boo!" I've been here a number of times in the past mostly just browsing. I've never rented a Halloween costume, but they've got a decent selection of them if you're ever in the market for one. The customers service has always been good, so I can't complain. Bottom line: Come here if you need a helium tank. Or a costume. They've got lots of both. read more

This review is long overdue. In the middle of the pandemic, I needed to get some helium balloons. I was not sure if Champion was open and found that the store now has a lot of their inventory posted in an online store. I placed an order and soon received confirmation that the order was received. A few minutes later, I got a call from Ashley that one of the balloons was out of stock. I explained what it was for and she said she'd find an alternative that the birthday girl would love. Upon arriving at the store, we found all our balloons ready to go - tied with coordinating ribbons and arranged on a weight to make it easiest to transport in the car. The best part: the "replacement" balloon was even better than the one that had been out of stock. Unfortunately, we had an issue with one balloon that was losing air within a few hours. I sent an email and had a response from the owner, after hours and on a Saturday night. I always love to support this longtime local store with a great selection and dependable service - and I love it even more now that they're in such a convenient location with parking. read more

I rented a Santa suit for an event last weekend. I have never rented one before. When we picked it up they said we had everything we needed for a perfect Santa. The night of the event we had a huge line of children and parents waiting for a picture with Santa. Everything was in place. 3600 thousand people showed up to our place of business. Everything was perfect except the Santa suit had no beard. Needless to say with hundreds of parents and kids in line waiting we were extremely disappointed, and frustrated!! We grabbed cotton balls to make a beard with no luck. It was late and the store was closed as well as the other party stores in the neighborhood. I started to tell the people in line Santa wasn't going to make it when a man stepped up to the task. Although his beard was short it was partially white. When I returned the suit the manager of the store said they, the other employees, should have offer us a beard. However there was nothing she could do about it. No apology or money back or anything. She took the suit and walked away. I will never go back to this store! The total lack of concern was baffling! Not only are the employees unable to help the customers get the right items for their party, the manager has even worse customer service! read more

I'm as plain Jane as they come. I don't even wear make-up, but some recessive gene in me likes to DRESS UP when called upon. Frankly, the store with the best costume selection, price, and quality used to be down the street from me, but they closed up that location but have another in Bellevue. But I don't venture to the Eastside too much. So that leaves me with Champion Party Supply. It's the store I find myself in regularly--not because of the quality or the price value necessarily, but they do have a good variety of costumes that are open on the hangers--so you can see what the costume looks like out of the package -and- you can try them on in their dressing room. I've also purchased all my wigs here (they ARE decent quality.) And because they have been around so long, they have their re-stocking process on lock. They know all too well the busy times of year and tend to keep everything looking as full as if it were June. The accessories are fun here; even if you have a costume, it's fun to look to see what would better complement your look. Freddy Krueger fingers with your Cinderella costume says you've thoughtfully considered your costume...and don't give a bleep. It's your costume. Go nuts. I like that I recognize some of the people on my repeat trips in. Because those guys can answer any question (or direct you to someone) about their inventory. I know I've asked them some random questions over time and have even been offered alternatives to what I was originally thinking. I wish they rented stuff like my favorite costume store; my closet looks ridiculous with some of the silliness I've acquired because I couldn't just rent what I needed. The manager was more than happy to work with me to special order a spooky item for me to the extent of calling up the vendor and becoming a customer of their products, well beyond what was necessary. I really liked Champion Party Supply and have been meaning to go here for some time now! They have a wide, varied selection of all sorts of party supplies and costumes! They rent out those big furry animal costumes that I have seen been used for family friendly events to anarchy party events. They have a huge selection of decorations for every conceivable holiday! When I was in here they had a lot of Mardi Gras masks which were your standard ones that you see in many places to more unique and custom looking ones. They have a large pinata section too! I really liked the Tiki Pinata and may need to get one or two when I fire up my Halloween party again this year. In the back they have lots of masks and costumes that you can buy. They have a large children section but a size able adult section as well. This area is also where you go to to rent out costumes. The counter against the back wall in the first room also had lots of make up and body paint. Some kinds are actually a little harder to find, like the UV body paint. Previously I have only been able to find these items on EBay so it was really cool seeing this kind of stuff here! I will definitely swing by again when I am working on a party or costume concept because they have a great variety of all that here! read more

An alright place for generic costume items and party goods. Costume selection is limited - -and mostly comes in the pre-bagged "sexy" genres. They have decent selection of stage makeup though -- and i've grabbed leg avenue tights here a-plenty. Decorations and party supplies seem seasonal with plenty of fun stuff to look at and buy if you feel like dropping the $ on something silly and kitschy. (as a personal aside -- the "Willy Wonka Guy" works here which does add a level of coolness to this place). read more

Halloween is here again, which means today I made my annual trip to Champions to buy supplies for the work Halloween party next week. Now, I'd rather go to the superior costume supply store in Northgate, but this place is only a couple blocks from work so, blinded by Halloween cheer, I made hike to stock up on supplies. The one thing I've observed is that this store exists at some weird psychic crossroad that bends the space-time continuum. As a result, I always find less than half the stuff I need there, but still manage to spend twice the amount I planned. Today, I purchased a neon green table cloth, some football related tchotskis, four black pom-poms, a severed foot and some fake blood... which put me back like half a grand (or, maybe like $60). Then again, costume stores are always over-priced, and this place is convenient, so I can't give it too much grief. But, it'll take me another year before I'll get excited enough to go back. read more

I think, "Um, can you get off your ass and go check?" I say, "Ok... that's great. I actually need to know if you for have them or not and exactly how much because I might need to send a courier to pick it up." Champion isn't super cheap, but it has everything you'd need to throw a party! I got an amazing unicorn balloon there. Their costumes, decorations, and party staples also caught my eye! The people who work here are really helpful and cool. In addition to all of my future balloon needs, I will be back next time I need to plan a party or need to accessorize for a costume. read more

All I can say is that I had to get myself ready for a "pink" party, and Champion definitely did not let me down. In addition to the excessive amount of pink material in the front of the store (pink napkins, pink mardi gras masks, pink fake teeth, pink party favors, pink etc) there were a few great pink costumes in the back to choose from. I grabbed a pink velvet tuxedo shirt that, when combined with some form-fitting latin pants, made an amazing costume for my party. Other than that, they've got your standard packaged costumes and what looks like a decent stock of rental costumes. I needed a getup just before the Prom... I was going to go as a Gorilla, but when they showed me the suit, I decided it would be too hot and uncomfortable. Then, as I was looking for alternatives: the Zoot Suit, Gangster Suit, the Roman Suit and then I saw the powder blue dumb & dumber tux: I was hooked. We filled out a contract, gave them a credit card imprint for a deposit, then went up front paid for the nights rental. The place has been in business since 1936 and the store certainly reminds of the smell of my grand parents house... ancient. But, in addition to the custom rental above, they a fairly expansive supply of disposable customs and accoutrement. I also select a cane to go along with the dumb and dumber suit. While I have never rented a costum there before, I have purchased stuff for Halloween. While it doesn't have much original (think Archie Mcphees) you will find a lot of fun stuff here. Return was pretty easy too: verified I returned everything I left with in the same condition and returned my credit card stub. read more

I give the selection 3 stars and the staff 4.5 stars. The staff is fantastic, helpful and hilarious. I agree with not as much selection as some places, but it's great having something downtown, and for convenience they've saved me a few times esp. when I didn't want to trek up to a different bigger place up in Northgate and fight the traffic. I've purchased wigs, mardi gras supplies, halloween props, and props in general after hittting happy hour across the street at Bandits and then prop shopping with friends. Came here for Halloween costumes - of course. There was a rather large selection of different types of costumes. However, all of the materials seemed rather cheap. We were unable to find anything for our costumes at the quality we wanted. Prices are reasonable though, so good for people who want a cheap costume for one time wear. read more

I came in for several very specific items for my 25th birthday "Sparkle Party": 1) a tiered cake stand for sparkle cupcakes. 2) silver or sparkle cupcake liners. 3) sparkle party hats. 4) a Michael Jackson white sparkle glove. 5) sparkle table decorations or other sparkle decorations. Been to Champion a few times and well, it's squarely OK. Best point would have to be the selection. Lots of "costumes in a bag" as well as individual items to complete your look. Decent selection of wigs and professional makeup. Champion also has party decorations and assorted accoutrement. I'd say it makes for good one - stop - shopping. I've only been to the store for Halloween though, so I can't comment on how they adjust for the seasons. Many other reviewers commented on the poor customer service. I've never had someone wait on me hand and foot, but when I was there 2 days before Halloween I did witness staff asking if anyone needed help and giving some direction. The place was pretty packed, so I can't complain. The line at the register can be really long too, but I bet that doesn't happen during the "off season". One gripe: They have a No Returns policy. I get it cause we all know people would wear a costume for one night and then return it if given the chance, but to have such a strict policy for everything in the store seems unreasonable. There is a small parking lot next door, which is a big bonus for Queen Anne area! read more

I needed a lot of balloons for a party, no seriously, a ridiculous amount of balloons. I called around town and found that it was going to get pricey. Until I called Champion. The price was fantastic and they got my order down right on the first call! I came to pick it up and found the parking lot full...oh crap right!? Oh no...they have an attendant there passing out tickets to park in the lot next door! In and out very quickly with an order that was perfectly prepared! I certainly hope I get the chance to use them again soon! read more

Champion Party Supply is a fun place to go for party and costume needs. They have a large selection of costumes and their party supplies are ok. I feel that their party collection isn't as large as maybe some of the other stores, however I am always able to find what I need. The prices are a little higher, but it isn't a chain store so I do like that about them. I seem to always need a costume outside of the Halloween time and I can always find something there. I appreciate the fresh window displays they frequently change. I find them very entertaining. One big bonus is that they do have free parking for their customers. A very rare thing in Seattle. To get to the spots, just drive past the store and turn into the driveway alley. read more

So I've been a fan of Champions since I was a kid, I grew up on Queen Anne and this place was where I got my first vampire fangs when I was a baby Dracula in the late 80's. I've been into costuming for a while, making my own elaborate characters, building complicated suits and full body apparatus, champions has always had a nice selection of items to make my costuming come to life. This Halloween season I've "side-graded" to makeup, I was planning out a different costume and this idea popped into my head, I went down to champions and they were busy at the makeup counter showing people what to do and giving advice. I really like this store, and I know its the Halloween season, but the people running the counter were very rude, the lady who was done up in a sort of Día de Muertos makeup ignored me for a long while, refused to look up from her milling about, she was shuffling the same two or three things around pretending to be busy. Then she helped other people who came up well after me and then acted like I was the asshole for wanted to buy shit from her. Then she tried to sell me the tester which she claimed was an accident but she sure ignored me after she handed it to me as if she didn't want to ask for an unopened thing of makeup...nasty. There was another kid behind the counter, I think he saw the shit treatment I was getting and came out from behind the counter and gave me some advice, showed me some products, good salesmanship all around. When I came back for checkout he was on the phone assisting a customer and still managed to ring me up while juggling the receiver. He didn't have to do that, but he did...excellent work. I like this shop, i'll shop here again and I know its a busy season so I'll forgive Día de Muertos, the other kid saved my experience and probably my costume. Thanks (sort of) Champions. How often can you show up at a costume store with a picture of your director and ask for a wig that looks just like her and actually get one? Seriously, if you need a wig, go here. My boss has a pretty distinct hairdo, which I was able to find sitting on a styrofoam head in just a few minutes (with help from the very attentive staff.) FYI, had just gone downtown to that shithole near Pike Place Market. They wanted $150 for a wig I was going to wear once! I only paid $24.99 at Champion. read more

This has been my favorite "go-to" spot for finding practically anything party or event related and the staff has always been very kind and accommodating. On several occasions I've had the true pleasure of getting help from Marron (hoping I've spelled his name correctly?) He is truly a delightful human being! Sometimes you meet people in random places and although our interactions have been brief, he makes an impression! Today Dan was helping too and he was just as friendly, attentive and helpful! In a time where you can buy practically anything on line, they make actually walking into a store very enjoyable and worthwhile! I was very impressed with the service I received at champion. The product (balloons) were excellent but more importantly I was in a very tight time crunch to get some balloons for a wedding. We had gotten a Balloon Time One-time use helium tank to do the job but it failed. Champion sells these products as well as most other places so I would just say stay away from them. The associate behind the counter sympathized with my situation and expedited my service. I was very grateful and we'll be using the business for all future events. Just stopped by here to look at a few wigs and had the most unpleasant experience with one of the cashiers. There was no one in the wig department and I waited in line to ask the cashier (short brunette woman with bangs) if she could come help us try on a couple wigs. She proceeded to roll her eyes at me and walk over to the wig section. When I asked for 3 wigs for us to try on, she slammed them on the table and told us to "hurry up" because she "had a large balloon order." She continued to give us attitude the whole time, berating us asking if we were going to buy the wigs. It hadn't even been 2 minutes. The wigs ultimately did not fit and were not what we were looking for so we decided to put them back. When we told her we were not going to purchase them, she snatched them out of my hands and stormed off. As we were leaving we said "thanks bye" and she didn't say a single word to us, just stared as we walked out. I will not be coming here again solely because of how rude she was. read more

I truly appreciate this and have added a star to my review. Great selection! However I am super big on customer service and they fell short here. We went in to order some balloon bouquets. The man behind the counter lazily sauntered over. I explained what I was looking for, hoping he would jump in and help me with my idea. He stared at me blankly...I obviously am not a balloon expert so I was hoping he could give me some suggestions, help me look at color options, etc. I asked him for his opinion on how many balloons I needed. The proper response whole have been something along the lines of "great question, how big of a space are we working with?" Instead he answered with an eye roll and said "well I have no idea how big your space is"....gee, thanks for the help! They have a ton of ballon colors but they are behind the counter and it seemed like a chore for him to bother to show me them so I just kind of guessed and hoped it worked out. I really hate to give this place a 2 star because I had a great time here and everyone that helped me was excellent. However, I am disappointed in the return and costume policy. I used to work in the industry when I was younger and while I understand having a strict policy, it was very unfortunate for me. I bought a belt that I specifically asked if it would fit my waist, sewing as it was in the child section. The lady replied with "oh yes, absolutely." When I finally took it out of the package, it was extremely small and I couldn't wear it. Apparently I am not allowed to return it since it is a costume item. I recommend having a display item so people can try on and don't have to rely on others to "guess" if it will fit. Now I am stuck with a $30 belt that some kid might want at a later date in your store. read more
