Champion Party Supply is a great local business that has everything you need for Halloween and more. I went there to get a Halloween costume and was assisted by at least three different employees--not in a pushy way, but a genuine helpful way. I'm certain this is their busiest time of year, but they still were surprisingly super pleasant (I was expecting the experience to be miserable), professional, and courteous. Really not impressed with the customer service (or lack there of) - I spent a good two minutes standing in full view of two employees who were pricing things/chatting, waiting to be helped or at the very least acknowledged in the deserted store. When I got tired of waiting for them to notice me and so very rudely interrupted their chat by saying "excuse me, I had a question" I was treated to some very surly "customer service". Now, having worked plenty of retail jobs, I'm pretty lax in my customer service expectations. For me to be perfectly satisfied with a shopping experience all I really need is a "Hi, are you finding everything okay, let me know if you need any help, thanks for coming in" - I'm often a browser and I feel bad getting a ton of help when I'm not going to be buying anything. I do not expect people who work in stores to give you their 100% undivided attention from the second you step through the door until the moment you leave, in fact, I prefer people not to do that - if I have a question, I'll ask. If the store is packed or if it's right before or after a holiday, or if they're trying to close up I really don't expect any unsolicited attention. But this was a Sunday in the beginning of August, I was one of two people in the store (the second person being my boyfriend), and it was the middle of the day. No excuses for snottiness. After roaming around a bit more, we walked out without seeing another salesperson, even at the cash register. I called this business to ask about balloon packages and prices. The guy said very nicely that it would be best to order over the phone. I picked out the balloon arrangement with him and listed the other items that I needed for the party. He then went bipolar and said "I'm not your personal shopper. You should really come in for this small order stuff". I wasn't the one who said it was best to order over the phone and how rude can a person get!? Just say "Actually I think it would be best for you to come in and pick out these items yourself...". Seattle has so little party shops so now I get to go in there, wonder who the jerk was and just glare at my suspects while I hand over my measly money. read more

Fun place to come and mess with costumes. They had a great selection for new years kitsch. The costume selection is good, particularly for rentals, but I prefer the buy-and-own costuming that you can do through Costume and Display or piecemealing costumes together Value Village a bit better. read more

I worked temp during Halloween many years ago at this store when it was still in the Pike Place Market. We got to wear costumes every day, best temp job ever. These days, when my kids had to dress up in historical costumes for school projects we'd go here and find suitable wigs and such like. The costume rentals are very reasonable and though this place isn't as big as Display & Costume, I still come here to get party supplies that you just aren't going to find at your local Fred Meyer, like leis in December for a tropical birthday party. read more

We had a big fundraiser at my Massage clinic for the Susan G. Komen breast cancer research fund... we were given balloons for the event, so I took them to Champion to have them filled up... the manager (?) there offered to "do their part" for the fundraiser and filled up my balloons for FREE! This costume shop is ridiculously and unnecessarily expensive I was going to see what costumes they had and a basic hotdog costume which at Walmart is 19.99 here it's $54.99 it's better fabric, not different, everything is the same just the price. Wouldn't recommend this store, basic earth Vader costume which most stores charge this for premium is 94.99, yes 94.99 wow! read more

I ordered balloons for my daughter's 6th birthday a few days ahead of time. The person on the phone said they'd be ready, no problem. On the day of the event, we stop in to pick up the balloons, and they're not there and there's no record of my order. The guys in the store at the time were really great about dropping everything and getting the order filled asap, throwing in a couple of free ones, and apologizing. So I gave three stars, the average of the 1 star I'd give for just plain losing my order, and the 5 stars I'd give for how responsive the guys were at making up for the error. read more

Rude customer service! I bought a couple of items from their store for Halloween on Oct. 19th and decided to be something else today. So I just called the store (Oct 27th), and I was starting to explain how i changed my costume idea and I was wondering if I can do some sort of exchange. Before I even finished, the lady on the phone said "final sale, sorry" and hung up on me! Their receipt explains their return policy stating "We cannot accept returns on the following: Costumes, makeup, wigs, wearable items, seasonal products and closeout items", however it doesn't specify that exchanges are not allowed either. read more

I came here once with my best friend to kill time during our Seattle trip. I wish that we had a party to throw at the time 'cause there are so many awesome costumes and party themed ideas. I bought my Halloween costume here it was good in a pinch they had a ton of costumes and rentals even though it's 2 days to Halloween. I was a little sad they didn't have some higher quality accessories... One of these years I will eventually get it together and make my own costume and I probably world not go here. In a pinch they have just about anything you could want for pre bagged costumes and you can try them on. They have a sample of every costume and size so you get one that has not been tried when you are buying. Its great because Halloween costumes are not really made for a lot of use. read more

This shop is great when you are making a purchase. As a matter of fact the girl that was working the floor when I came in was very friendly and helpful. However, this place is HORRIBLE if you want to return something. Their receipt says they do not accept return on make-up and wearable items. This totally makes sense. However, when you go to return anything apparently the policy is no returns AT ALL. I went to return an item that hadn't been used, all tags were on it, receipt in tact and the man behind the register tell me "ALL SALES ARE FINALl" and that there is a sign right when you walk in that tells you that. How convenient that they don't tell you that all sales are final when you are making a purchase and their receipts lead you to believe that accept reasonable returns. We stopped in just before Halloween with a few last-minute decoration needs. We were pleasantly surprised with the large amount of stock left and that the prices were reasonable. The winning feature of the store is the staff - everyone we spoke with was kind, knowledgable, and patient in the face of a frazzled mom with a toddler in-tow. Just made a last ditch effort for a costume item (trying to avoid going up North) and was enormously disappointed by the whole "situation" at Champion. Doubt I'd ever go back. Zero help and all 3 of the items I was looking for were not available....never even stocked. The one thing I was about to purchase turned out to be $30 which is a total racket. I've used Champion a few times for helium tank rental and just getting balloons for events. Its not superrr cheap but I feel they have the best prices in town considering theres no Party City in Seattle. They offer discounts for purchases of 12+ balloons and also offer package deals if you need a helium tank + ribbon + balloons of choice. They have a good variety of sizes as well. The space itself is pretty big full of party supplies but I haven't had a chance to check the rest of the store out yet. Its only been to grab a balloon order and jet. The people are nice on the phone and in person. I've called The Red Balloon on Cap Hill a few times and they weren't very personable and are ridiculously overpriced. We had some standard latex balloons and just needed to get them inflated. At The Red Balloon they charge you $2/per balloon to just fill up the balloons you bring, and $2.75 for a balloon of theirs...standard. latex. balloon. Champion offered to fill ours for 75cents each!! For all balloon needs go to Champion! read more

I've called them last minute for extra supplies and they were very flexible and prompt in delivering more balloon for our corporate party - same day! Today, I went with my son to get balloons and they were so nice enough to twist and bend a balloon flower for him. Very entertaining...They were super friendly, hospitable and helpful.
