There's a very "social" vibe here. Chancho King has a welcoming neighborhood atmosphere with a relaxed outdoor seating area tucked behind the building. The inside is nothing fancy (which is fine). The chef‑owners who are James Beard finalists, which naturally raises expectations. However, after multiple visits, the overall experience has not matched the level of hype surrounding the restaurant. Portion sizes relative to pricing remain the primary concern, making the value feel uneven despite the appealing setting. I work in the area and have gone with several office mates. We've tried several dishes and sandwiches but still can't understand the extreme hype. I was told the Chorizo was spicy and it was so bland I felt like I was eating Hilshire Farms kielbasa. Pros: * Outdoor Dining - Pleasant outdoor dining area that provides a comfortable place to relax * Service - Consistently friendly service and a casual neighborhood feel * Variety - Menu crafted by highly regarded chef‑owners with strong culinary credentials * Location - Murray Hill location for a laid‑back meal or meet‑up * The best dish on the menu has been the pork sandwich - which is half a sub roll and plantain chips Cons: * Pricing - Pricing feels high for the portion sizes (e.g., three chicken legs at $23) * Expectations - Overall experience does not fully align with the restaurant's reputation * Some dishes feel more modest than expected given the cost Chancho King is a great place to unwind in the neighborhood, but the pricing-to-portion balance left me wanting more.

I have literally been stalking this restaurant on IG forever! I attended their 3 year anniversary dinner. A beautiful restaurant! Very clean, vibrant, festive and just a cool atmosphere where all are welcome. They have a patio areas as well. Which is nicely designed. For this event, they even had a dj. Great music. Service was great! Everyone was super friendly and kind. Just pleasant and joyous all around. There was a preset menu. All you can eat with a specialty drink included. My fav was the the plantain chips (food wise) agua Fresca (beverage). The other food options are way too much to name but I thought it was just okay. Nothing that I would say I have to come back in order. The ceviche which they're known for was lacking in flavor and quite bland. My bae didn't like the wine of the evening the porch wine. The oysters were warm and the optional migonette sauces were bland as well. Sometimes it's difficult to cook catering style, so I would definitely have to try again in the future. The vibes lived up to the hype. I just wish the food did too. But the service, the beautification, cleanliness, and music was type tier. This restaurant in theory reminds me of the show the Bear.

Love the order at counter vibes, friendly staff. Busy place on a Saturday but the line and food comes out hot and promptly. First stop: cheesy yuka bites. Light, fluffy, cheesy, garlicky sauce with the right amount of zest spice. Melts in your mouth. How can I bring this sauce home?!?! Second up: main course. Chicken, pickled onions, and avocado w lime over crispy plantains. Do I need to move to Equador or just come here again? I will always give a high five to restaurants with gender neutral bathrooms!

I've had their food before so I knew the food would be amazing. This is the first time I've ordered a to-go order online. Food was ready when we got there, and they were kind enough to seperate out all the ingredients and sauces so the bread didn't get soggy. Their pull pork sandwich is amazing but my favorite is the mushroom sandwich. The texture of the mushrooms and flavors of the sauces all goes so well together! Absolutely would come back soon.

Tried the location at The Block... Had the beef sando with pan de yuca. The beef was tender, went perfectly with the egg and paired nicely with the yuca. This sandwich was so good almost went back for seconds. The ambiance was clean and service was super friendly. Make sure to look for a table quickly as the block is always packed.

LOVE Chancho King! This family owned neighborhood spot is amazing and I'm so thankful for its addition to Murray Hill. We come here frequently for lunch and I enjoy getting the rice bowl with mushrooms and flattened plaintains. They always have delicious fresh juice as well as daily specials. I have yet to attend Chancho late night, but it is the talk of the town! Friday nights- different menu and fun vibe. Overall if you're reading this- just go!

I've never had Ecuadorian food before but I am now a huge fan! First things first- There's pretty good parking in the downtown murray hill area so that worked well. You might not get a spot directly in front but it's a cute area to walk around so not to worry! The restaurant itself is very cute but somewhat small - about 6 tables but they do have a counter/bar area with chairs as well. Suggest getting here a little earlier before the lunch crowd on a weekday, it does get busy. We ordered at the counter (friendly staff) and our food came out pretty fast. Everything was absolutely delicious. They had passion fruit aqua fresca (juice) as well as blackberry- both were refreshing and tasty. Everyone loved their food - the yucca cheese fries were heaven. I enjoyed my plantain bowl but the pork sandwich and shroom sandwich (vegetarians are covered!) got rave reviews- they are next on my list! Highly recommend you check this out!

I finally got to try Chancho King and am so glad I did! The vibe inside is casual but great -- it's like walking into a smaller restaurant in a big city. I ordered with a nice guy at the counter and took a seat nearby where I got a glimpse into the kitchen (which stuck out to me for how nice they were to each other back there...and how great they were with avoiding cross-contamination). My piping hot pan de yuca came out first and was delicious. I had never had pan de yuca with this texture before -- it was fried but still airy and lumpy rather than uniform (but in a good way!). The craggy outside added to the texture and helped scooped up some of the sauce. My entree was the mushroom llapingacho plate. I had never had llapingacho before but definitely will again. The dish was total comfort food for me (and I later learned it's considered comfort food in Ecuador, too); it was flavorful and creamy on its own and made even better with the fried egg on top. I enjoyed the mushrooms and rice, too. I also got a hibiscus drink that was delicious, although I'm bias because hibiscus is one of my very favorite flavors. So, I got a great meal in a great place at a reasonable price. That's a big win these days.

My two friends & I wanted to try this new restaurant in Murray Hill. Chancho King's an Ecuadorian restaurant. The food was so delicious with unique flavor. Perfectly spiced & so tasty. We all chose the sandwiches. It appeared small but it was just right for my appetite. I also tried the Chicken soup with Choclo with giant corn kernels, starchy, with slightly nutty flavor. It was flavorful & so delicious. Service was great. I did not have to wait long for my food. The restaurant ambiance had a South American flair. I'll be back for anything Choclo. Right after my visit, the restaurant was named 2026 James Beard Awards Finalist for Best Chef in the South. Mayor Deegan presented the award. Wow! So Impressive.

10/10. You order at the counter and they bring it to your table. Sunday, they have brunch and the specials change often. I got the yuca de pann as an app and the grilled octopus as an entree. It came with the most perfect focaccia bread and chimichurri sauce. My only complaint is that all of our tables food came out at different times. But everyone enjoyed all of the food and the atmosphere. We all loved the blackberry Agua Fresca as well! Can't wait to come back and try new things.

Sundays at Chancho are special! The menu is seafood centric- red fish grilled or fried, grilled octopus, and the most exceptional oysters I've ever had. I love sitting at the counter because everyone is so friendly, and you get to observe the staff making their magic right there in the kitchen. This place is always bright, clean and comfortable, bustling, with a welcoming vibe. I can't say enough great things about this place and feel so fortunate that it's here in Jacksonville!

Chancho King is top notch - one of the best places to get a bite in Jacksonville. Their Ecuadorian dishes are amazing! My go-to is the chicken sandwich. Grilled chicken with pickled vegetables on fresh bread and a creamy sauce - it's exceptional. The choripan (chorizo) sandwich is also delicious! If you want a plate of food, their rice plates are really good too. If you want an app, I recommend the pan de yuca - delicious fried cheese balls. They have a nice selection of juices that go with whatever you are ordering and are definitely worth trying. It's a very casual and hip restaurant. You order at the counter, service is always friendly, and they bring your food to you. The indoor seating is small but very pleasant. They have a really nice outdoor area in the back with large tables for bigger groups.

Super hip spot in Murray Hill. We did take out. It was for four hungry adults so we had an assortment of items. All were very tasty, staff was friendly an helpful with info. Would love to dine in next visit.

She made sure to check up on us, answered all of our questions, and refilled our drinks often. It was super clean there too! We were started off with some fresh, warm bread and a balsamic/olive oil dipping sauce. The bread was perfectly crispy and went so well with the dipping sauce. We were served cold bread before at restaurant so I'm glad we had warm bread! We decided on the following appetizer and entrees: Fried meat ravioli - 8/10: it came out piping hot and it was so delicious! Fried to a nice, golden brown and covered in panko crumbs, it didn't feel heavy at all. It came with a fresh marinara sauce and had parmesan cheese sprinkled on top of the fried ravioli. Each bite was cheesy, crispy, tasty, meaty, and we devoured it quickly! Carbonara Alla Roma - 8.5/10: I thought the portion would be small since I seen photos online but it was actually a great portion. I had enough to take home and eat as leftovers! The pasta was cooked perfectly and the alfredo sauce was balanced and decadent. I could taste the pecorino romano, and cracked black pepper. The pancetta was smoky and added a nice umami flavor to the pasta. I didn't rate it higher because it was slightly missing a little bit of of that BAM factor! but it was pretty delicious! The Sofi - chicken - 9/10: Oh my gosh! My best friend got this and I wished I would have too! It was sooooooooooooooooooo good! It had prosciutto di parma, mushrooms, asparagus, shallots, cooked in wine and tossed in a rose cream sauce. The pasta was also cooked perfectly and that sauce was to die for! Each bite was like tasting the finest flavors and spices of Italy. I could not believe how tasty this was! If you come here, you HAVE to try this dish! Tiramisu - 9.5/10: One of the best tiramisus we've had in Jacksonville. It was the perfect amount of espresso and cream. They had dollops of chocolate sauce on the side and helped elevated the flavor of the tiramisu. It also wasn't super sweet which we appreciate. We don't really like overly sweet desserts and this one hits the mark on everything. Overall, service, food, and atmosphere was great! We would definitely come back to try other menu items!
