Chicken pot pie even comes w a salad! Photo doesn't do the flavor justice.

Chantrel is a hidden gem in West Linn! They take fresh ingredients and creativity to a new level. They are also SUPER allergy conscious and go above and beyond to make unique options to fit event the most challenging dietary restrictions. The icing on the cake is the amazing and caring staff. Each bring care and joy to every interactions. Added bonus- their french onion soup is back!! Tonight I had their burrata to start and their chicken pot pie. I also love that they have healthy and scratch made meal offerings for the kiddos!! Grateful to have such a wonderful restaurant and caring team in our neighborhood!

My wife and I were looking forward to trying out this rebranded restaurant, arguably the most formal of the ones lining this quaint Old Willamette street. We dined on a Friday night, and the restaurant was about 1/3rd full. The new owner greeted us after a short wait, and pointed to a set of three tables saying ours was "over there". We walked over unescorted to two two-tops and one four-top and weren't sure which was ours, so we walked back to the host station and asked. The menus and chilled water were already waiting. The menus were laminated, but it was the nicest laminate I've seen. Thin paper napkins were a bit disappointing at this price point ($120 for two). Service was helpful but a bit awkward ("let me clear out that plate for you", when it's obvious that's what you're doing). The Chantrel rebranding is partially complete: there's no sign out front, and the website and payment systems still say Allium. They replaced some of Allium's furniture and created a new wine room area, but otherwise it looks like the old place. The server said all but two menu items were new. For a restaurant named after a mushroom, only two of the dishes had mushrooms. We had two drinks that were strong. The beetroot salad was fine but uninspired. The Cheese Melt's cheese was wonderful, but the accoutrements included a whole bunch of what looked and tasted like the Rold Gold pretzels you find at Winco. The beef filet was beautifully plated but a heavy gravy covering the plate masked the beef's flavor. It's doubtful we'll return.

For $42 and this description, I expected a nice cut of meat.

Firstly, I get that the restaurant business is hard. I feel for business owners who are trying to make it work in the current economic climate, but these guys should consider changing their menu. $42 for "filet" that was obviously another, less expensive cut of meat is a little outrageous. Secondly, I had to send my wine back as it was soured and dead and then the replacement glass wasn't much better. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Good food but one of the rudest waitresses I have ever had. Impolite and will not be returning.

However,…read moreRobbie and team need to know I may have to personally give you all one star instead of five. I have twice eaten at other restaurants since my last time at Taste, where I ordered meatballs. Taste has ruined all future eating experiences for me. Two bites into my meatballs at the other restaurant and all I can tell my table is, "this isn't Taste." What do I do now?!?! Go eat here!!

Really solid experience all around…read more The baked dish was rich and well done--great depth of flavor in the sauce, and the melted top layer added a nice texture without feeling heavy. Comfort food, but clearly made with care. The shrimp dish stood out too. The shrimp were tender and fresh, with a clean flavor that paired well with the tomatoes and light seasoning. Simple, balanced, and executed well. The wine pairing complemented everything nicely without overpowering the food, which I appreciated. What made the biggest impression, though, was the service--especially from the owners. They were welcoming, attentive, and genuinely engaged without being over the top. You can tell they take pride in what they're doing, and it shows in how they treat their guests. Overall, a place I'd definitely come back to and recommend to others looking for a quality meal in West Linn.

Gosh, I've been teetering back and forth between giving this place a 4 and a 5, but let me tell…read moreyou, they did EVERYTHING right to deserve five stars. Our server was absolutely amazing. We had such a good time with him, and he was so fun and attentive throughout the entire dinner. He even brought us complimentary rosé shots at the end, which was such a fun little touch. He was awesome! And the FOOD. The salmon with risotto that I ordered might honestly have been one of the best meals I had on this entire trip. It was SO good. We also got the deviled eggs with bacon, and they were incredible. They had this savory flavor from the bacon, but there was also a little sweetness, almost like honey, that made them absolutely delicious. The food and drinks were a 10/10, and the vibes were great, too. Truly, no complaints there. Now, the ONE thing that had me seriously debating between four and five stars was the smell inside. I don't even know how to describe it, but when we first walked in, I was immediately like, "WHAT is that smell?!" It was genuinely pretty strong and not pleasant. After sitting there for 15 minutes or so, I think I became nose-blind to it because by the end of dinner, I barely noticed it anymore. But if you're someone who is really sensitive to smells, I would definitely recommend sitting outside if you can. They do have outdoor seating, and it smelled completely fine out there. Ultimately, I'm still giving them 5 stars because the service, food, drinks, and overall experience were just too good to knock them down for something that honestly became less noticeable as the night went on. 5/5 -- just maybe sit outside if you have a sensitive nose.
