To start, the drinks were delicious. The blackberry Moscow mule was a special and fresh and the bergamot smash was great! There were no food and dessert specials the night we went but that was totally fine. The lion's mane appetizer was delicious and unique, a must try! The duck fat and rosemary fries were also delicious and came with ketchup and garlic aioli. Rockfish was good but nothing extraordinary, I'd get it again for happy hour probably. The lamb rack was very tender and well cooked but a bit on the salty side for my taste. Salmon had a unique blackberry chutney that was delicious but the salmon was also a touch salty. The seasonal fruit tart was strawberry and super good! Would love to come back and try their happy hour, as well as some other entrees! Formerly Allium, us locals love having access to fab-fare....and with the owner change, we had to check it out. We sat at the bar - out favorite - and were greeted by our delightful and dapper Tim - who made us feel welcome and at home. Loved the menu...particularly the fresh greens - burrata salads and butter leaf shrimp salad. Waiting for the steak for my hubby as I type. Cocktails, compliments of Tim - top shelf. Nice safe location with solid cocktails. Kind of all downhill from there I hate to say. The menu sounded appetizing but nothing was fantastic, especially for the price. Chantrel is a hidden gem in West Linn! They take fresh ingredients and creativity to a new level. They are also SUPER allergy conscious and go above and beyond to make unique options to fit event the most challenging dietary restrictions. The icing on the cake is the amazing and caring staff. Each bring care and joy to every interactions. Added bonus- their french onion soup is back!! Tonight I had their burrata to start and their chicken pot pie. I just moved into town. I really wanted to try this place for my first real meal. I was not disappointed. The mushroom soup was a flavor bomb! It wasn't overly creamy and the taste of the local mushrooms was amazing. The pork chop was one of the best I've ever had. The combination of pork with local mushrooms was really unique. Coupled with the pan sauce, made it absolutely spectacular. The restaurant was not very busy so I had a very nice chat with the staff. The restaurant has a great vibe. Next time I wanna try some of their specialty drinks. read more

My wife and I were looking forward to trying out this rebranded restaurant, arguably the most formal of the ones lining this quaint Old Willamette street. We dined on a Friday night, and the restaurant was about 1/3rd full. The new owner greeted us after a short wait, and pointed to a set of three tables saying ours was "over there". We walked over unescorted to two two-tops and one four-top and weren't sure which was ours, so we walked back to the host station and asked. The menus and chilled water were already waiting. The menus were laminated, but it was the nicest laminate I've seen. Thin paper napkins were a bit disappointing at this price point ($120 for two). Service was helpful but a bit awkward ("let me clear out that plate for you", when it's obvious that's what you're doing). The Chantrel rebranding is partially complete: there's no sign out front, and the website and payment systems still say Allium. They replaced some of Allium's furniture and created a new wine room area, but otherwise it looks like the old place. The server said all but two menu items were new. For a restaurant named after a mushroom, only two of the dishes had mushrooms. We had two drinks that were strong. The beetroot salad was fine but uninspired. The Cheese Melt's cheese was wonderful, but the accoutrements included a whole bunch of what looked and tasted like the Rold Gold pretzels you find at Winco. The beef filet was beautifully plated but a heavy gravy covering the plate masked the beef's flavor. It's doubtful we'll return. read more

Firstly, I get that the restaurant business is hard. I feel for business owners who are trying to make it work in the current economic climate, but these guys should consider changing their menu. $42 for "filet" that was obviously another, less expensive cut of meat is a little outrageous. Secondly, I had to send my wine back as it was soured and dead and then the replacement glass wasn't much better. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. read more

Steer clear big tuna, head for open waters. We ordered the mixed olive dish ($8) which was actually a shot glass filled with maybe 10 olives; Hot Cheese ($26) melted ballpark cheese with legit small toddler crunchy pretzels, and some sad veggies; and the Oysters which were out of stock. We also got two Dirty Martinis that were prob dry. We really wanted to like this place but guys come on. This is an amazing spot with crappy food. read more

Have been here a few times now, and I have been impressed each time! There are so many interesting things to try on the menu. On my last visit a few weeks ago it was a HOT day, so light bites and salads were the order of the day. Lion's Mane mushrooms were great; crispy battered, meaty mushrooms with a really flavorful marinara dipping sauce. I could have eaten them all myself, but had to share with my dining companion. We also shared the charcuterie; a great selection of quality salami, chorizo, speck, etc, plus pickles and mushrooms and bread. For my "main" I had the burrata salad with poached strawberries. Again, really great. Very refreshing on a hot day. Service was super. Questions were answered, we were well-attended to but not pestered or rushed. Cocktails were excellent. With Valentine's Day fast approaching, you might be planning on taking your significant other to a nice restaurant to celebrate. If you're thinking of going to Chantrel's Bar & Restaurant in West Linn, please think again. I had the grievous misfortunate of taking my wife there for the 2025 four-course New Year's Eve feast - it was anything but. I found the food quality and preparation to be subpar, not worth $120.00 a person - which is what they were charging. The appetizer baguette was burnt, and the cake was stale - if that gives you any indication. Also, the restaurant's atmosphere left much to be desired, it engendered none of the festive holiday appeal that one might expect from a New Year's Eve four-course 'feast.' It was just another night in a fairly ordinary restaurant. Myself and my beautiful bride of 40 years shall not return, and I advise likewise. read more

We had an amazing meal tonight. First of all, the owner greeted us and was so gracious. Our daughters have food restrictions and they were very accommodating and had several options for them. Our daughter got one of the mocktails and it was sophisticated and delicious, not too sweet. The wine selection is very good and they offer local wines. The burrata starter was so good, the burrata was so creamy and the strawberries, herbs and pistachios were a unique twist. It could have been a starter or a dessert. I really enjoyed everything here. The ambiance is great & the menu included enough things for me as a vegetarian to stop here for dinner. To start, the "ginger snap" on the zero proof menu was absolutely delicious & I'd get it a million times over, I never wanted it to end. We ended up splitting the fondue & the pear salad..both were wonderful. The salad was perfectly dressed, hazelnuts finely chopped, arugula beautifully fresh, soaked pears + whipped bleu cheese at the bottom were notable to come back for. The fondue was great, full of flavor with a great selection of bread, potatoes, crostini, & veg. Creme brulee is my all time favorite so I was super happy to see it on the menu. I rated it an 8/10. It had a pretty nice crusty top, custard was perfect texture. It was good! I will say that it's expensive for the pretty small portion so that's my one critique, but the food won't disappoint. For example...yes it was a $17 salad and it was pretty much a side salad size, but it's one that I would crave and quickly return to have again. read more

Love the way this space is laid out, lots of room but it has a cozy feel. The server was attentive and helpful, and the food was wonderful. The truffle fries were the stuff dreams are made of, and after mushroom soup, chicken pot pie and those fries we barely had room for dessert. But the creme brulee called to us, and we weren't sorry that we found room for that. read more

This restaurant serves mediocre food at high prices. Most of the entrees on the very limited menu are priced between $30 to $40. I do not mind paying high prices for good tasting food. I did not get that at this restaurant.The duck confit was dry, the fisherman stew was bland and seafood was not fresh. The lamb chops were tough and chewy. All of their deep fried dishes were oily. Their wine sold by the bottle are also priced higher than most other comparable restaurants. You are better off eating at the many other restaurants located on the same street. read more

We used to come here when it was Allium. We absolutely loved it! Everything was delicious. My mom requires a low sodium diet, which they graciously accommodated. If you are a fan of freshly foraged mushrooms, this is a must try! read more
