Anyway, we were seated immediately, and the waiter gave us the list of specials. I started off with a perfectly made Sazerac that turned into 2 Sazeracs rather quickly. The chef gave us some free bruschetta that was delicious, then came the free bread which was a small hot loaf of Leidenheimers. So good! I ordered a Caprese salad to start which was simple and light, much needed after the doubling up of carbs. For an Entree I got the duck which was a fried half of a duck with a raspberry sauce with spinach and sweet potatoes. Phenomenal. Then they gave me a little birthday dessert which was some sort of chocolate covered ice cream that was lit on fire. This was a great meal with great service. What an absolute miss of a brunch for Mother's Day. We went to annunciation because my mother in law loved their menu or so we thought. The deviled eggs were fine and had three options. The trout almandine had no flavor. Even the brown butter sauce it had was completely soaked up and the trout was very fishy, the green beans were overcooked and not seasoned, The lemon tart was good but the crust and the topped cookie was dry as can be. Had an amazing dinner with two friends in town for a conference during FQF. APPETIZERS: Paneed Oysters, Fried Green Tomatoes with Merliton Slaw, and Crabmeat Au Gratin - all amazing, but the Crabmeat was a standout. Chef also comp'd some brouchetta. ENTREES: 3 had the Chef's Fish of the Day which was a delicious Louisiana Black Drum topped with a medley of Lump Crab, Crawfish, and Scallops. Our server even knew the difference between red drum and black drum. The pièce de résistance, however was my Softshell Crab Monica - locally sourced and it is in season - over a bed of pasta with jumbo lump crab meat and crawfish. All plates were returned to the kitchen completely cleaned. DESSERT: House made Strawberry Cheesecake - also LA sourced and in season, so sweet strawberries - not sour. Highly recommend reservations. We had a short wait on a Sunday evening for a party of six. Started with drinks at the bar. The bartender was very attentive. Once we got to the table our server seemed to be trying to be super funny rather than just taking or orders. Maybe I was hangry, but I really just wanted to get our orders in and not be entertained by jokes. The food was delicious. My partner and I tried a few appetizers for our dinner ad we wanted to try many things. Everyone else really enjoyed their entrees. We enjoyed the crabmeat au gratin, the fried green tomatoes (a bit overdone), but the crab ravioli was amazing. The bread pudding could have been better. I wish it had more sauce. Run, don't walk. You will not regret it. The food was amazing but I want to start with a shout out to our server Sam. He was an absolute delight, incredibly friendly and sweet. Ok, the food. We did the Revillion menu as is our tradition. It's a fun way to try all of their newest items and a cool winter tradition. It was a four course dinner. The amuse bouche was a bread with basil and cheese and it was to die for. For the second course we had the salad and the gnocchi. Both were fantastic and I honestly couldn't pick a favorite, they were both delicious. The salad was one of the best salads I've ever tasted. I'm looking back at the menu and it seems like the other things on the sample menu weren't on the list because I normally wouldn't choose a salad at a place like this with so many other options but it was fantastic. For our third course we had Beef Wellington and Wild Mushroom Risotto. The Beef Wellington was amazing, with a layer of some sort of mustard sauce under the pastry that I would not mind drowning in. The risotto was vegetarian but had a great umami flavor. For desert we had the tiramisu and the Italian Budino. Normally I'm not a fan of tiramisu but this was so good. I consider this restaurant a hidden gem. It is a jewel of a place with traditional southern and Creole cuisine in an intimate setting on the edge of the Warehouse District. The food is classic and the ambience is cozy. Highlights include softshell crab (in season) on Crawfish Monica, shrimp Etouffe, seasonal fish filet specials and perfectly prepared lamb chops. Service is delightful. There is a low key pleasant bar and cocktails are great. Noise level is low with subdued live piano on weekends. Upstairs is a spacious private event space. My review is for Christmas Eve dinner (Yes I know I am late). It was a prix fixe meal but with plenty of choices. We had an amuse bouche of bruschetta and then I started with a small bowl of bisque and then I had a yummy plate of speckled trout with asparagus. The wine and cocktail choices were great. I gobbled up my dessert cannoli too fast to even get a photo. My friends got the eggplant, the beef wellington, salads and we all loved our food. They did not skimp on the crabmeat, every bite was loaded. Entrees: salmon special, lamb chops, soft-shell crab pasta, NY strip, steak, and duck. I came in, explained what had happened, and asked if I could still order dinner to take out. Annunciation was as gracious as could be. They understood our reservation change. They let me order for take out instead of in-house dining. The Barman made me a French 75 to beat the band while I waited. Great guy. I chatted with the waitstaff about the Masters in Augusta. This restaurant is a jewel, and you should go here. Now, the food: We ordered: The chef's raviolis, amazing. The fish of the day: perfection. Cooked perfectly, with a sauce to die for. One of the best I've ever had, and I eat fish everywhere I go. The chicken Rosemarino: Wow! Terrific flavor. Perfect cook. We screwed up our reservation. The restaurant rebounded without a hiccup. I loved this restaurant! First, I have to say Randy is one of the best servers in New Orleans, and I highly recommend asking for his section. He made the visit over the top. He has a great personality and great radio voice! He's also super knowledgeable and made great recommendations. The fresh bruschetta on house bread was amazing. The zucchini salad with scallops was small but mighty. When we first saw the salad, we were underwhelmed, and once we started eating, we were all big fans. The shrimp etouffee was so good. We shared as an appetizer with 3 people and everyone was satisfied. The lamb chops were top tier, with the mashed potatoes. The sauce was also really good. I am torn about this review, because the Beef Wellington was so good it saved the experience! It's the only reason I'm giving 3 stars instead of 2. Every year I book a reservation for a fancy dinner on Christmas Eve in honor of my deceased mother, I saw this menu online and was VERY excited. When I got served the "Amuse Bouche" and it was bruschetta that was dry and basic, I was very upset, immediately. Second course (appetizer) was Stuffed Shrimp for my friend, and a boring, basic, good tasting but unimpressive Shrimp and Corn Bisque. I was again, very upset. This is supposed to be a HOLIDAY MEAL at a fancy restaurant, and I get a small cup of basic soup when my friend gets this amazing shrimp appetizer??? Are you kidding me? Third course (Entree), was the Beef Wellington... let me just say, when I took my first bite, I was blown away! I was over the moon happy by this DELICIOUS Wellington!!! It saved the entire meal, and I am SO serious! I went from ready to complain, to happy as a clam! The staff were so wonderful when I asked for extra gravy! Thank you! Fourth Course (Dessert), Tiramisu! This was amazing it was very flavorful, cocoa, espresso, it was amazing! Staff: our waiter was Sam, and he was WONDERFUL! We decided to try this sweet little place as a new find on our trip to NOLA. Tucked away on a completely unattractive corner, the inside atmosphere could not have been more esoteric and fun. Our server Patrick was delightful, and their weekend piano player was perfect. The service was slightly fast, however, but it worked out for us. We were given a pizza-like bread amuse buche that could have used a bit more imagination, but the beet salad with pears, grapefruit and goat cheese and beet puree was perfect, light, refreshing and not too much of one flavor. The duck was scrumptious, perfectly cooked with a raspberry glaze and the most incredible layered sweet potato side that tasted like pie. We had the lemon sherbet and crème brûlée, both equally good. My husband had the homemade crab ravioli with a delicate sauce for an appetizer while I had the escargot, prepared in savory tangy sauce and served inside large mushroom caps over bread. Recently visited NOLA for a conference and this place was close to the convention center. It was a short walk and they had reservations in their upstairs room for our large group. The bartender and servers were great! Very fun atmosphere and attentive to the group, meaning they noticed when people's drinks were getting low and quickly came to ask if we needed something else. We got a bunch of appetizers which everyone enjoyed. I took away 1/2 star because of the lack of dairy-free options. It's NOLA so it was difficult everywhere so I can't truly fault them. Nice decor. Close proximity to convention center. Paid street parking if you drive. I would definitely visit again. read more

My wife and i come to New Orleans every year and have our go-to dinner here. We have seen their attendance improve over the five or so years we've been going there. This year (2025) it was mot too crowded but lively (we eat eary, 6:30 or so). Our meal was outstanding (lamb chops for me and steak frites for my wife). The wine was a glass of pinot noir for her and cabernet for me. Our waiter, Val, was very knowledgeable of the menu. He was very responsive and old-school, which I like. Every single member of my 6 person party thought it was waaaawy too salty and couldn't finish their meal. If I were a braver person, I would have sent my food back. The gumbo- too salty. The shrimp salad: too salty and over-dressed/citrusy, inedible. I kid you not at one point I used water to wash off the shrimp, but even then it was too salty and I had to spit it out (must have been soaked in salt?) Our server (Sam) was extremely attentive and friendly. I chose the Soft-shell Crab Monica and my wife selected the Gulf Fish Capri. For starters we shared the Oyster Brochette and my bite contained a tiny pearl Lucky me! Annunciation stands tall in my experience of French cuisine with a slight southern influence. I realized Coolinary time was running out and decided to try this place for the first time. Patrick was a great server, the host who sat me was very welcoming - basically everyone there was very nice. All the food was amazing if you can't tell by the pictures. The couple sitting next to me raved about the escargot and seemed to enjoy their meal as well. Annunciation rescued our Saturday night. You see, I thought my wife had made reservations for a landmark restaurant for tonight, and she thought I had. That left us scrambling today to find a nice restaurant. Annunciation had availability and the Coolinary menu sounded interesting, so we booked this morning. What a great stroke of luck! My wife, son and I ordered from the Coolinary menu while my daughter and her boyfriend ordered from the dinner menu. We were all very pleased, and shared enough so that everyone got to try a bite of everyone else's food. Starters: The boudin balls were pretty good. My wife got the tomato maison, my son the escargot and I had crab sardo. They were all very good. I particularly enjoyed the crab sardo. The hollandaise had a nice bit of spice. Entrees: My wife ordered the chicken maison, my son the veal marsala, my daughter the shrimp linguine, boyfriend the filet mignon and I had the gulf fish capri. The chicken was good, though the rosemary and thyme were a little strong, my son loved the veal and the boyfriend particularly enjoyed the filet with the bernaise. I thought the marinara for my daughter's linguine was excellent. My gulf fish capri, made tonight with blackened drum, was the best of the bunch. It was cooked perfectly, topped tastefully with crawfish, crabmeat, capers and tomatoes, with a wonderful buerre blanc sauce. It was 5/5. Dessert: We all had the bananas foster and polished it off despite being stuffed. The staff was wonderful, attentive and so friendly. It was our second time eating here, and it was just as good as we remembered. Only reason for 4 stars, is we were travelling with our 86 year old grandparents, and when we went in to our reservation, they wanted to seat us on the second floor, but told them they couldn't walk up two flights of stairs, so asked to be sat downstairs. The host seemed very annoyed at this simple request. But the wait staff, bartender, and cooks made up for that for sure! The whole meal was excellent, especially the creme brulee! We recently traveled to New Orleans and we weren't sure about travel plans sticking so we didn't have dinner reservations for the first night in town. Luckily, Annunciation had room for us to snag a last-minute reservation and we were thrilled to find them. They are near the French Quarter and it was a pleasant walk from the hotel. The building is an "upcycled" warehouse so it's got that historic NOLA vibe. It was decorated for Christmas when we visited so the decor inside was absolutely delightful. The food was so tasty and delicious, especially the seafood. This is very classic New Orleans food but with some interesting, unique twists. The ambiance was classy - crisp, white tablecloths and nicely dressed waitstaff. The feel was casual but classy. Not stuffy or uptight. Had that classic, Southern hospitality nailed. The only issue we had was that there was a very loud, drunk, table of diners next to us and they literally threw food at us. We really hoped the management would handle them, and they did try to keep an eye on it but were unsuccessful. I don't feel it is indicative of the normal clientele at this establishment. I would happily visit Annunciation again on our next visit. We have already suggested it to friends who were heading to NOLA. read more

Ordered the Réveillon menu which was absolutely amazing food, everything we ordered was delicious and so well cooked. The building itself was very loud so it was hard to hear, but downstairs was a piano player which made the ambiance. Dinner took around 3 hours, so a great place to go if you're in no rush and looking for a true European meal experience. It's upscale but not to the point where you feel like you don't belong. You can still dress casually if you choose. The service was top notch. They made sure we had everything we needed at every moment. The food was very tasty!!!! We started with complimentary bread service and then we got the crabmeat au gratin as another starter. It was so FULL of crabmeat and the cheese was perfect. For entrees we had the duck and the lamb chops. The only gripe we had was the green beans that came with the lamb came out ice cold and my spinach was raw on the plate. Other than that the duck and lamb chops were cooked perfectly. The sides were also great. I love a good mashed potato (or any potato for that matter)...the wild rice was good too.
