My battery died at work and of course it was a Friday afternoon. I thought it would be a big hassle to get my vehicle towed, serviced and back to me by Monday (at least). Not only was my battery under the warranty (due to the service center doing quick research) my vehicle was ready the next morning at 11am. Today I got an oil change for my 2020 Chevy traverse. It's a Chapman Chevrolet dealership on 1717 E Baseline Rd Tempe, AZ 85283 United States. I am a mechanic for a school and I do oil changes regularly and I also do services to the buses and also to my White fleet vans. I came in today to do an oil change and I mark my oil filter indicating that the oil change in my view need to be done correctly when I got the vehicle back the oil filter was not changed. I took a Video documentation of my current old filter. I marked it with a Razor. Indicating that it's what I have currently. I got my vehicle back and checked the oil filter. It was the same exact filter. I chatted with the service manager and he just said I shall correct that for u. I'm sorry. I just want people to know to check if they change the filters and make sure ur oil is changed also. B aware of short cut mechanics that will not do the job fully. Please if ur going in for a service. Make sure u get perfect documentation and proof that it's the same part when serviced. They said they put a new filter on which was stated on the receipt. I'm young but experienced with mechanics work. I know what's not right with vehicles that are mine with I maintain regularly. What should I do???? I have gone to Chapman Chevy pretty regular for oil changes in my Equinox. They are down the street from where I work so it's convenient to drop off in the morning and pick up when I get off work. The last time I went there, my check engine light was on and asked them to fix it. They charged me $300+ on a Thursday, told me it was because my gas cap was on wrong. I specifically told them it wasn't my gas cap. By Saturday morning, the check engine light was back on so I don't think that they did anything but take my money. I informed them of my problem and asked when they could get it back in. Two months later, I never hear back and I am sure they won't do anything now. Needless to say, I will be finding a new spot to get my oil changed and to fix my check engine light. The service department has really gone downhill. read more

Went here a couple of months ago to try to turn in our lease early and drive off with a new Chevy. We've leased Chevys through various dealerships for the last 10 years with never an issue. This dealership would not work with us at all. We had a Traverse, mint condition, under the mileage, fully loaded. We couldn't even get close to our budget on another Traverse, even a base model one. Couldn't get close to our budget even on a lesser car the Equinox. Manager was horrendous, sales man was awful. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME HERE. Then a month later they called us and said it did not matter anyway, we could not get financing (we have 800 credit scores LMAO). There are other dealerships around that are way better. The sales person ,cant quite remember his name he didn't have business cards on him,omni or something like that,was nothimg short of outrageous,this happened on Monday afternoon. He took us to look at a car while the entire time.we found out about his soon to be ex wife,his,his kids that were in high school in tempe. Invited us to go to Vegas, to him its safe to be there,saying actually he had just been there 2 months previous. Mentioned other things about Vegas i wouldn't speak about on here. Then proceeded to say let's get you in this car and close the deal. Insaid to hime you are so sure about all this,his reply was thats why I sell 25 cars a month,because he's been doung this job for 30 years,while saying yep and I'm going to Jamaica In a month and added alone mind you thats why I'm trying to loose weight. Also while we test drove he was on his cell the entire ride,not paying any attention to our questions,but making sure between phone calls that we knew all about his personal life. So after figuring out our mineys woyldnt work he took us outside and said ket me work a deal,ill get you the car these guys don't know what they are doing come closer to end of month they'll be begging to sell cars and they'll have so many deals. I never write reviews but I have to put this one up. I have taken all my Chevy vehicles to Chapman Chevy for all the services even after they forgot to put the oil cap on my wife's Chevy Cruze couple years ago. When that happened they kinda took care of the problems and her as well for all the inconvenience. But this review is for my truck I recently took in to the quick lube area. My truck was serviced on 8/6/19 it was a quick oil change but after receiving the truck back and driving for a day or 2 I heard something rattling from the wheels, so I checked the plastic lug nut covers and they were all loose on all 4 wheels. Not a big deal I tightened them with no issues. I called Chapman Chevy and left a message with the service manager but received a call from another gentleman. I was not trying to get anything for free just wanted the management to clearly check their techs work. I didn't think he did a good job at tightening my plastic lugs imagine that was my real lug nuts that held the wheels on, that would t be good. The argument with the Chapman guy was that the plastic lugs will never be fully tightened because I had a few missing, which is true. But I tightened them and still have no rattle. The gentleman said that " it will only stay tight for a day or two the come loose because of the missing plastic caps" it's been about a week now and still no rattle. All I asked was for them to check their techs work and of course he said " well I see your paperwork here and he did check everything". I deal with customers on the everyday basis as well my crew tells me everything is good sends pictures but I still stop by and make sure the job is done correct and there are no issues. Chapman Chevy management please do your job you are assigned to and check on your guys. It's simple there is not a lot to it. I will no longer take my vehicles to Chapman Chevy and will be using a different dealer for all my future services. I would love to leave my truck with Chapman and they can drive it all over town like I do. I can assure them there will not be any rattling from the plastic lug caps. read more

Traded In my car on 5/20/22 payment on trade in was due on 05/23/22 The deal was funded by the credit union on 6/8/22 and the payoff estimate on my car was good until the 16th and was told it would be paid off by then. I gave this info to the bank that my trade in was through and didn't get another call from the bank until the loan was 30days past due come to find out the payoff wasn't sent out until 6/22/22 now I will receive a 30day past due ding on my credit thanks to Chapman! Payoff was also $120 short so loan still is not paid off. On top of all of this they fudged the numbers to the bank so they would accept the loan. These guys will lie to you and not do what they say after you sign the papers! read more

The manager pawned my review off on a minion. I called and left a message as requested. The minion called me back and asked what I called for. When I told him I was calling at HIS request, he said "oh, yeah" and laughed. I fail to see the humor in this. He told me he wanted to make it right...I told him that he could do that by paying for the tint repair at a location of my choosing and by reimbursing me for the second key I had to have made myself because they refused. This afternoon I was driving near Guadalupe and McLintock and approached a new, white Chevy Tahoe making an illegal left turn blocking the main intersection turning lane for oncoming traffic. The driver was clearly in a dealer vehicle and appeared to be wearing a uniform from the dealership. I had my turn signal on and had to work around him to make my legal turn. He proceeded to flip me off. Not only was he in the wrong making this turn, but now he is representing your dealership in an offensive fashion. I will never buy another car from this dealership and I recommend you don't either. The staff was not very friendly and came off as only caring about making a sale. I purchased a 2021 Camaro from them only because it was the exact car I had been looking for. The car did not come with a spare tire, so I requested that it be added to which they agreed. My car was in transit from Michigan and would not arrive for two weeks after I had already purchased it, therefore giving the staff ample amount of time to order a spare tire for when the car does arrive. Fast forward to the day I pick up my car from the dealership and no spare tire. The sales manager Travis tells me he completely forgot about the spare tire (although it was in the sales agreement) and the best thing for me to do it go to a Discount Tire, get a spare tire myself and they will reimburse me for it. Obviously I was not happy about this situation, however, I went to a Discount Tire and ordered a spare tire. The spare tire ended up being $377. I emailed the receipt to Stephanie who had sold me the car, to which I got no response. One week later I sent a follow up email, to which I got no response. I had to call the dealership, I spoke with Stephanie and she ensured me that it was being taken care of. One week later, I receive a check in the mail for $200 even though the tire cost me $377. This place is a joke. Absolutely terrible customer service!!!! They don't care about the customer. Never ever again and I recommend you spare yourself the headache and go elsewhere! read more

I've been searching for my dream car for 2 years. When I found it a Chapman Chevy, I made an appointment that same day. I test drove it and loved it. They offered to hold the vehicle for me for a $500 deposit, and I accepted. They charged my credit card, and I set an appointment the next day to handle the sale. I was on my way to the dealership the morning of the sale when I received a phone call. Someone had offered to wire transfer the money, and they sold the car that I had placed the deposit on. The sales guy mentioned that another party had put a deposit in before I did and claimed no one recorded it. However, the sales manager, Howard, mentioned that deposits only hold deals that are offered, not vehicles. However, this was not the case as there were several witnesses when this was explained to me (in employees in the finance department). 2 different stories, and one or both are lies. Unfortunately after making a couple phone calls to managers, they don't care. Unethical and possible illegal- STAY AWAY FROM CHAPMAN CHEVY. read more

He has worked hard to keep his credit good and to be able to buy a car, He spoke to Jim Mays, And also Josh in finance It was at the end of the month and boy oh boy they wanted to meet their quota, So of course they gave him the jeep and took all his tax info, then almost one month to the date of approval they said there was a problem with getting him financed because he is self employed. I have never written a review for Yelp and never taken the time to write a negative review for any company. My experience the past two weeks with this dealer needs to be shared to prevent future bad decisions at Chapman and warn potential customers. Chapman Chevrolet has decided to made very poor customer service decisions repeatedly. They have had my car for two weeks while I have been on vacation. Two weeks to repair 3 simple things that were promised in writing at the point of sale. Wiper blades. Tire pressure sensor. The actuator for the ventilation system. They required that I send them a copy of the written guarantee which I did. They said they had everything they needed. I have called multiple times over the past 2 weeks to check the status while I have been on vacation and been given promises each time that my repairs will be completed before I return and each time I have asked to be contacted when the repair work was done. I was never contacted with that good news. Today I am back and contacted the service department. They told me that the car was still not done. They said that a "manager" was taking care of it. I have called more than three times during the afternoon to let them know that they have the option of a happy customer or an angry customer but I am picking up the car at 530 today. They specifically chose to make an angry customer. Really they chose an angry customer multiple times the past 2 weeks. These are very simple repairs that they will fix. They promised them in writing when I bought the car. By playing games with WHEN they have totally ruined their reputation in my eyes. read more

We live in California, but they had the exact car we wanted... make, model, year, color, everything... We do financing over the phone. Approved. Do the price over the phone. All good. WE PUT A DEPOSIT DOWN AND SCHEDULED A FLIGHT to come get the car... and when we arrive.... IT'S GONE.... GONE?... GONE. They sold it. Didn't even call us to tell us. And here's the best part. They have a similar make & model all set for us, so we test drive it and... wait a minute? what's that wooshing sound??? Oh yeah, that's the DOOR OFF IT'S HINGE. I'm not kidding. I could stick my hand right through the passenger side door and feel the wind while the door was closed. Even the sales guy was stunned. But not the manager. So of course, the manager has us try a few others and hey! We find one we're up for buying... oh... but NO. They literally both came in and told us they couldn't sell us that car... that we HAD to take the "door falling off" car... they promised they'd fix it, but seriously? They refused to sell us the car we wanted? Oh wait, no... the SECOND car we wanted because... THEY SOLD THE CAR WE TRAVELED 400 MILES FOR AND HAD A DEPOSIT DOWN ON. Wow. "Scam, Poor Service, Salesman Lacks Integrity" Even after driving to the dealership two different times I was never able to test drive the car. I drove in all the way from Peoria, AZ. On the second day the sales person told me I could buy it but I couldn't take it home today (10/29). As they were going to remove items from the car I saw online listed as for sale and I thought "Ready to Go. "Originally I went in on a Sunday (10/28) after the Cardinals game. I spoke with Garett Wiese. He had difficulty finding the car after walking me all over their large lot. After checking he found out it was in the back, going to get some service he described as "detail and tires". I told him no problem because I knew it was getting late. We agreed Monday would be better so I let him know that I would be in after 12 noon. He gave me his card and said he would email me with info about the car. The next day I received a call from the dealership about 9am but I was in the shower so I did not answer it. When I checked the voicemail it was someone else from the dealership calling to confirm my "appointment" for Monday. I didn't set an appointment but ok. I arrived at the dealership about 1pm. I walked up and a salesman approached me so I let him know that I was there for Garett. He invited me in and went to find Garett. Garett came up and said let me get the car. Even knowing I was coming in he didn't have the car up front ready to go. It took about 15 minutes before he returned. He asked for my driver's license so he could make a copy. I gave it to him and he went back. On our walk to the car he explained how the car did not pass emissions and they were going to remove the headers. I was very confused. The day before, he never said any of this, just detail and new tires. Once we got to the car he unlocked it and I went to open the hood. Sure enough I saw headers. I said the performance is going to be different with headers versus no headers. He said "No it's not. It'll be the same thing." I started asking if I couldn't take it today then why were we going for a ride? His voice became angry and elevated in tone. I had asked why he didn't let me know before I drove in from so far away. In an angry voice he said "I called you this morning and that's all I have to do." In order to not get into a scuffle I started to walk towards my car. At no time did he attempt to take care of me as the customer. It is now Friday (11/2) and I have not heard from anyone from the dealership. Seems like a perfect example of bait and switch on this blue 2004 Corvette. This salesperson, Garett Wiese, lacks integrity and shouldn't be at a professional dealership. If he speaks for the dealership there is definitely a problem here. This is a name brand Chevrolet Dealership and I think customers are supposed to be treated better than this. As a Retired Army Veteran integrity is very important to me. I'm not asking for special treatment just good customer service because I was not at some brand x car sales place. read more

Craig Caldwell did not call me once regarding the service for my Malibu. I had to call throughout the day to check on the status. He also didn't even let me know the vehicle was ready to be picked up. I had to call again right before 4 pm. I forgot to ask about a shuttle but when I called back, the person who answered hung up. So I was left without a shuttle back to the dealership although I let him know I would need one when I dropped my vehicle off. And then he showed me out his office to wait for my car in 110 degree heat! Terrible service. read more

Like most of us, I search online for a car, and found the pickup that I was looking for here. I work all day, so late evenings are the only time I can get to a dealer without taking time off work. I've always walked around dealers at night since I was little, mainly to avoid pushy salesmen and get a chance to really inspect a car. I stopped by Chapman a few minutes ago to check out the truck, and as soon as I found it, Comic Book Guy started yelling at me to leave. Yes, I know trespassing is illegal, but should the fact I was ready to trade thousands for a truck legitimize me? An amount on a vehicle that costs more than rent-a-cop makes in a year (and it was even used!) I won't be back to chapman. If their after hours staff are dicks, good chance the rest of them are too. Found a welcoming environment at another dealership across town. read more

Worst car service I've ever had. I've taken my car here a few times without issue but after this experience I won't be back. I dropped the car off at 8:20am and didn't receive a call to say it was ready until after 4pm! Now this wasn't just a standard service, there were a couple of recalls but that's still ridiculous. When I picked the car up, as soon as I turned it on, the check engine light was on, the traction control light was on, and when put the car into drive, it clunked. I have been going to this service department for 10 years due to prior good service and honest pricing. I took my wife's van in for a brake job and was quoted $550 to replace the front rotors and turn the rear drums. Several things stood out to me during this quote by Ken: - The service manager, Jeff, dismissed my concerns, did not offer to help explain things, and referred me to the service writer. I got the feeling he could not care less. - A prior front brake job that included replacing a rotor was only $475 - Could not explain the full quote price - $150 to turn rotors, O'Reilys does this for less than $10 bucks a piece, huge dealer mark-up - $100 shop fee. Upon probing, said this was for materials used (compressed air? brake oil??), electricity for the shop, water to wash the techs hands? (I made up this last one but you get the idea). The service adviser could not explain this, seems excessive. - $250 for parts and labor - Unknown mystery fees that could not be explained. The service adviser didn't really know what to say when called out on it. I can't help but feel that I was taken advantage of with an inflated quote that the adviser was unable to explain. I took my business to another shop down the road that I have never used before and was quoted $225 for the exact same job. I understand there is an extra costs at dealerships and have never minded before due to the honest assessments and good service, however this pricing was beyond inflated and could not be fully explained. They have lost a long-time, loyal customer but I have a feeling they could care less. read more

The service department is the worst! I brought my mother's vehicle in for an oil change at my appointed time. The service advisor, Greg, was aloof at the first moment of contact. He didn't give any instructions about leaving the keys or turning off the vehicle. He asked what name the appointment was under then walked off. I had to go after him to ask him the estimated timeframe and let him know I'd be waiting in the wait room and then offered my phone number as well. Two hours later my vehicle was finally finished, and the only way I found that out was because my mother called me to let me know they called her. I walked over to get my truck and asked Greg why he didn't call me or come get me in the waiting room. He asked if I gave my number to someone? I was completely shocked and told him I gave my info to him and reminded him I'd be waiting. He didn't look at me, but gave me an impassive "I apologize for that". There was absolutely no emotion behind the apology, it sounded like a canned response that he gives several times a day to customers upset with his poor customer service. My truck wasn't brought up to the galley area, I had to walk back to retrieve it. I will never take my truck back to this dump, there's so many better options. This place should get some training from Tempe Kia, they treat their customers like gold. read more

So this is a bunch bull. My friend came in and got $300 off of a 2007 Nissan Murano that was listed on their site that it was available. We get here and we are told that the car is not available/not ready. Like, are you serious?! They need to work on their site. They also had us walking all over the lot looking at various cars. My friend was also interested in a Jeep Patriot, guess what, same damn deal. Not ready or available. That is horrible. I know people in Oregon that have worked at dealerships and their stuff is not like this. But maybe that's because they worked for a higher end dealership. If I was my friend's significant other or family member, I would be raising hell. I will NEVER recommend this place to ANYONE. read more

My husband and I have purchased three different vehicles from Chapman over the years, have also worked with Linda and have always been pleased, but that's where service stops at Chapman. As soon as they sell you the car and show you great care, that's when it all stops. I've visited the service department on multiple occasions for oil changes or regular warranty items, and the service is terrible. The service managers are rude, don't listen, the lines to drop off the cars are long. The Service guys are just sitting at their desks as we all sit in line waiting to be checked in, then when I finally make eye contact with someone in their glass office, he comes out and says oh I'm sorry I'm not your service tech, let me get him, and again the waiting continues. Finally when "my" service tech arrives, he sits me down in his office and can never find my families info in the computer, so then I have to provide him all the details again, and god forbid it's warranty work, I have to provide them that too.... I tell you just based on Chapman's Service Area alone, I'll NEVER buy a car again from them nor will I ever let my family or friends. read more

Vehicle selection and my salesperson (Dennis) both great. He showed me the vehicle I wanted and was very knowledgeable on the packages with the different models. Very level-headed and seems to be a genuinely nice guy. However, the sales manager was rude, disrespectful, and tried to strong arm me into different terms than originally agreed upon. The entire process was a long story of "misunderstandings." Maybe I had unrealistic expectations though. Outside of that, the finance manager took the time to follow-up with me after the deal was finalized a few days later, which I greatly appreciated and it swayed me more towards a positive view of the dealership. But then, my most recent experience led to my current star rating of the dealership. I went in to have a spray-in bed-liner done on my new vehicle, went in with the odometer reading 74 miles, got the truck back reading 113 miles... yet the receipt said returned with 85 miles. That seemed a bit off to me, and I still have no answer as to why the return milage was off by almost 30 miles... Proceed with caution. read more

After a complaint was filed with GM and the dealership was contacted by dealerrater, I was contacted by the General Sales Manager, George Salman. At first I was skeptical, as my first impression still had a bad taste in my mouth. I brought the truck in with my concerns (namely the oil leak that had to have been there before I took it home as well as the fog lights not working). Mr. Salman could not have been more of a standup and professional individual. He addressed my concerns and understood where I was coming from. I wasn't naive enough to believe that a used truck would be perfect, but the issues that I encountered were the exact kind of issues you shouldn't have when purchasing from a dealer. I wasn't looking for special treatment, only what was honest and fair. Mr. Salman was more than fair, and it has gone a long way to rectify any ill-will towards Chapman Chevrolet. NOTE: This would have been a five-star update if every interaction with Howard Thayler, Sales Manager, hadn't been an absolute nightmare. If you happen to be at the dealership and if he in any way approaches you, simply state you'd like to work with someone else. I assure you, it will go a long way in improving your experience. read more

I just finished reviewing Precision Fleet Services and they got a 5! We started working with Chapman yesterday. We have been looking for a good used car for awhile and found one we were interested in at Chapman. We spent two hours waiting around and finally looking at the car and driving it. It seemed like a really good car so we started to deal on it. First we were never shown to an office, we were trying to make a deal on their car in the lounge. That is tacky. They had extended their President's Day sale and we were told that the parameters of that sale are that they are selling the cars at their wholesale price. All well and good until you realize that their corporate office is selling the cars to their many subsidiaries and that is what they are considering their wholesale price. Be that as it may, we finally figured out what the wholesale price was and the salesman offered the car at that price. Still well above wholesale by Kelly Blue Book standards. We offered about $400 less than that and then walked when the manager wouldn't "okay" the deal. My husband thought about it and told me Pam, we are only $400 away on the price. Let's go back and buy the car. Went back today. Offered to buy the price at their fake "wholesale" and was told by the same salesman that the general manager said no. This car had a special option package, yeah right (rolls eyes). I lost my temper. What the heck, they were the ones running the President's Day Sale and they won't honor the terms of that sale? So we went to Precision Fleet Services and bought a different, better car for twice the money. Rofl!! read more

Glad I waited almost a week to write my review. Had I written it Sunday night or Monday, I would have given them 4 or 5 stars. However, now I've seen how they operate in the long term, and have accordingly dropped my rating. The salesman, Albert Salman, I liked. He was nice, helped me find the car *I* wanted instead of trying to sell me some piece of crap I didn't. He wasn't able to get quite to the price I was looking for, but it was worth it having a nice, honest, open salesperson, so I decided to go with Chapman. That is where the good experience ended. We were put in a waiting room to wait for financing for more than half an hour, while other staff members wandered in and out, talking about golf, tv, etc, but completely ignoring us and avoiding eye contact. Finally, we got Ernie, our finance guy. We really wowed us with the numbers, and in not a good way. My partner recently bought a 2009 from a Chevrolet dealer in Colorado. Her extended warranty? About $10 extra a month. Mine cost about $40 extra. Yeah. I brought in my last month of paycheck stubs, but he told me he didn't needed them. Was he pushy about trying to get gap coverage and all of that? Oh yes, but only between stories of shooting, having his guns and truck stolen, etc. Made me feel real safe knowing he had all of my personal info. But fine, we finished up. The used car (2009) I bought was missing a mirror cover and a keyless entry, and had a few dents. It was Sunday, so service was closed. Albert told me they would call me about bringing it in this Wednesday (yesterday) to get all that fixed. No call. Still driving a car with dents, a scrape on the front bumper, a missing mirror cover and no keyless entry (which means no alarm I'm paying $10 a month for). It gets better. I get a call Tuesday night from good ol' Ernie. He tells me he's no longer sure my income ($2500 a month...with $3000 down) will cover it...don't I possibly have some more income. Let's see here...NO. If I had any, I would have mentioned it Sunday to lower your high numbers. Now he wants me to fax in paycheck stubs. The ones I HAD on Sunday that he didn't want. I have no fax. After a good cry about all the drama, I go way out of my way to get to a fax to fax him my stubs on Wednesday, asking he call me when he got them. No call. I called at 4, left a message to double check. No call. I called again at 7:30pm (he'd been there till 8 the night before). Left another message. No call. Finally, today, at 2:00pm I called AGAIN. He finally picked up. No, he hadn't gotten my paycheck stubs. Yes, he'd gotten my voicemails asking whether he'd gotten them. No, he hadn't gotten around to calling me. No, he wasn't going to be in on Friday. I called the finance department manager. Left a message. Called my salesperson (Albert). Left a message. Still have yet to hear back from either. I'm incredibly disappointed in Chapman, and if I could go back and do it again, I certainly would take my clearly undesired business elsewhere. I'd give them just 1 star, but I really do think Albert is a good salesperson. **Edit: I got a message from Albert who said he was looking into both the service issue and the finance issue. This only further proves my point that he is the only one there that even halfway cares about the customer*** read more

Submitted a request for a parts quote. I left my phone number. Not only did they never get back to me with the parts quote, they added my number to text messaging SPAM. I won't ever buy a car, get my car serviced here or buy parts from them. Their first call to me should have been a live person answering my original question. Not some automated commercial. If I can give 0 star I would! I've been here for 10+ times within the last year just to fix my crappy Chevy car's over heating problem, every time they come up with something new and every time the problem got worse. Even within warranty they asked for $130 just to check what's wrong! Without any fixing! And within this 10+ times, one time ON THE DAY I picked up my car the AC stopped working and I went right back, they asked $400 for replacing AC parts saying not their mistake. One time ON THE DAY I picked up my car it vibrates when I stop for right lights and stop on me. One time ON THE DAY I picked up my car the seat belt light lights up... Sometimes I really wonder if they are really fixing problems or causing problems so you have to go back for more services. I'm done with Chevy and seriously I will not touch another one. I would never go back to this problem causing place ever again. No I would not recommend this place nor a Chevy. read more
