I ordered the burger, which was pretty big and juicy. The fries were nice and crispy as well. For dessert, we got the banana dulce de leche gelato and ice cream cookie sandwiches. The gelato was so unique and rich. The ice cream cookie sandwiches were perfect for me and I loved the side of Nutella with nuts on top which added a nice crunch. Their commitment to hospitality beats most restaurants I've ever visited. In our reservation, I noted that we were celebrating a birthday. When we were sat at the table, a birthday card was waiting for my mom. Our waitress Bailey was so nice and accommodated my mom's request to not draw too much attention to the celebration. I also adore the atmosphere in 618. The lighting is so elegant with the many chandeliers and the flowers on the walls. 618 has easily become a top restaurant for me.

Part of me thinks the reason the service isn't as good is because they know they're automatically getting that tip, but another part of me hopes that isn't the case. The peaches were ok, there was a weird tasted afterwards. Like a processed taste. I couldn't put my finger on it. After 2 bites I was good. I ordered the Moroccan chicken for my entree. It was pretty good. Flavor was there, wish it came with more couscous. Now, the pricing of the dishes I don't really agree with. I know of other Mediterranean restaurants that offer really awesome dishes and the portions are bigger for a lesser price.

Discovered this gem on Instagram and couldn't resist trying it out with my wife, despite the hour-long drive from Hudson County. Situated in a charming small town adorned with historical homes, it's worth strolling around if you have the time. The restaurant has a shared parking lot with pay-by-kiosk or app. Inside, the ambiance is top-notch with upscale décor and great acoustics. There are various seating options including booths downtown, an upstairs area, and a patio. They offer complimentary fresh bread and are BYOB, with nearby liquor stores for convenience. For appetizers, we enjoyed the corn chowder (slightly sweet) and shared the gnocchi brisket and eggplant bisque (akin to tomato soup). Moving to mains, we had the cowboy ribeye, Cacio e pepe pasta, mac and cheese, creamed spinach, and fries. The 24-ounce dry-aged steak was well-cooked with a flavorful butter sauce on the side, thanks to their open flame cooking technique. The gnocchi brisket was creamy and delicious, showcasing homemade freshness. All dishes were expertly prepared and beautifully presented. Despite the fact my cardiologist wouldn't be pleased, we indulged in the chocolate cake s'mores dessert--an inventive take on a classic treat. On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd rate the food a solid 7 for overall quality. Unfortunately, our experience was marred by lackluster service from our server, David. After my fourth visit to Charkol, I feel it's important to share my experience. The food remains exceptional, and the ambiance is just to my liking. Service is generally reliable, especially if you get Jeffery or the younger blonde server, who are both excellent. However, my last two visits have been marred by poor service from Leif. During a recent reservation for a party of seven, including guests from a successful bar and restaurant, Leif was rude and inattentive. Despite giving him the benefit of the doubt due to past experiences, his behavior was consistently problematic. He ignored our table, was slow to address requests for basic items like ice and butter, and even chastised my friend over a minor order mix-up. We waited 45 minutes just to get our check, which ultimately required assistance from another staff member. The bill came to $400, but the service made it feel less worthwhile than a fast-food experience. Although I didn't feel Leif deserved a tip, my industry-savvy friend insisted we leave at least 10%, which we did. Leif reacted by loudly complaining about the tip amount across the restaurant. I tried to address the issue with a manager named Jason, who wasn't available that night. Another staff member acknowledged our concerns and apologized, but it's disappointing that such behavior seems to be known among the staff. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that attention to detail was lacking. Despite bringing our own wine, we were told that no wine glasses were available, forcing us to wait for some to become available. This oversight struck me as quite tacky, especially for a BYOB establishment where wine glasses should be readily available. Throughout the evening, I couldn't shake the feeling of being rushed. A manager, identifiable by his pacing and frequent glances at occupied tables, seemed more concerned with turnover than ensuring a pleasant dining experience. Witnessing him subtly signal a server to inquire about bill readiness by a table only added to the unprofessional atmosphere. Furthermore, it was disheartening to observe apparent bias in the management's interactions with guests. While some tables received attention and inquiries about their dining experience, others, including ours, were seemingly overlooked. As for the food, it was disappointingly average. The truffle fries, a dish that usually delights with its decadence, arrived devoid of the promised cheese, leaving them rather lackluster. Overall, my experience at Charkol fell far short of my expectations for an upscale dining establishment. Disappointing Experience - Rude Management and Overpriced Food Unfortunately, our experience at Char-Kol was extremely disappointing. From the moment we were seated, things felt off -- but it was the manager's behavior that truly ruined the night. When she came over to ask how everything was, we gave her honest, polite feedback: the food was overly salty, especially the steaks, and overall not living up to expectations. Instead of addressing our concerns professionally, she became noticeably rude and dismissive. After that, she completely avoided our table for the rest of the evening, making it clear that honest feedback wasn't welcome. The food itself was far from impressive. Every dish was aggressively salty, and nothing stood out in a good way. For what they charge -- New York City prices -- the quality was more in line with a fast food joint. The service also matched that vibe: rushed, impersonal, and inattentive. With so many great places to eat, I can't recommend Char-Kol. Food 10/10! Went there for my wife's birthday and all I can say is wow. Food was fantastic. We did over order but at lease we have extra for the next day. The food was amazing and the recommendations from our server Ken were 10 out of 10. The restaurant itself is very nice on the inside parking was a little hard. Only negative I can think of was the place was freezing cold. Originally they sat us by the front door, which the server did come up before we even said anything, and asked if we would like to move. Char-Kol was absolutely divine! From start to finish, the meal was excellent. The restaurant is stunning with high ceilings and impressive light fixtures installed throughout by the owner himself. To name a few of my favorites of the entire meal: the bread! meatballs, all the pizzas, Tomahawk steaks, of course, the brussel sprouts, spicy rigatoni and short rib gnocchi. Unlike at other establishment, the breading was not soggy from sauce and melted cheese. The chicken was perfectly fried, and topped with arugula, tomatoes, and fresh mozzarella. It was our favorite dish. The herbed fries were delicious even without the accompanying aioli. The restaurant itself is cozy with an open air front, and the staff were friendly and attentive.
