We were one of the first customers when Charkies first opened. We haven't been in a long while... Only because of busy life etc. Tonight we were hungry and needed something satisfying. With a picky kid that is hard to accomplish. Gyro=yum. Soup=double yum. Loads of French fries and Grilled chicken sandwich hit the spot! I like this place... We catered our 2017 holiday party and the food was fabulous!! We had kabobs, gyros, greek lasagna, cheese/spinach pies, baklava, etc. Each year we try new places for catering our holiday party. I was here yesterday I go at least 2 times a week and spend up to 20 Dollars.I was standing in line and was waiting my turn i was next after a man.A women double parked her car and came in after the man the older cashier women said this a phone order and ask the women for her card.There is no sign to say this is for phone orders.I said we were next cashier didn't care.I looked at my wife and said lets go the older women didn't even say I will take this order first and get right back to you.We waiting in line like always but my money is good anywhere.I will not go to this place ever again it's all about respect your customers.They lost 160.00 a month from my wife and I.We get the gyro and burger the gyro is not the greatest because they use a shaver to cut it.Prices are a bit high too.To much to choose from. read more

Third time in here and I keep enjoying it. Awesome place to eat. Think hot dog joint on steroids. Trendy interior with dark colors and flat screen TVs but the food is boss in this joint. Our family had gyros, greek chicken, hotdog, burger, and I had the Philly cheese steak sandwich. All were above average. My wife ordered a triple-decker club sandwich we she really enjoyed. The kids also ordered the cheese fries, crinkle cut and real cheez whiz, awesome. Looked at the menu and was surprised they offered meatloaf, stuffed peppers on top of your ordinairy beefs dogs burgers. They offered us free soup which was fresh and not canned, another surprise for a "hot dog joint". I think it was the owner that brought out our plates for us and asked us if we needed anything. Very nice service knowing the owner was on premises working. Free pop refills were good for the kids. A little bit hidden in a small mall next to Walgreens but truly a rare diamond in the rough. What a gem! We found Charkies from Yelp and ordered the 1/2 Grecian Chicken... again, based on other Yelpers. We've found a new favorite place! That chicken was soooo good. It comes with 2 sides - I usually go with garlic bread (tasty!) and the Greek potatoes (to die for!). It's a pretty big portion so I always have leftovers for the next day. Charkies is less than a mile from our house so this has been one of our regular joints since it opened, but I would drive 10 if I had to! Great gyros, salads (try the Charkies salad with gyro meat), fries. Meatball sub is another favorite. Chicken kabobs and Greek potatoes are awesome! Charkies is a new place with really cool decor and awesome food. I loved the open ceiling and the plasma T.V.'s (can't miss a Cub game!).I have been there 4-5 time since opening and I have loved it every time. Try the greek chicken,skirt steak and shish kabob...all are delicious and you definitely will not leave hungry...they give really generous portions at very resonable prices ...the homemade chicken noodle soup was also very good. My wife loved the gyros and the white sauce that comes with it. My kids loved the burgers and fries! I'm eager to try some more things on the menu very soon. read more

Based on the reviews I have read, I tried Charkies for the first time this week. I had the gyro combo wih fries, free soup (tastes even better because its free), and a drink. The cost was pretty average @ $8.30. The service was great, I thought it was cool they had real examples of the specials wrapped in plastic on the counter. I received a generous amount of food, and it was fresh, hot, and tasty. I plan on going back and trying the Philly steak sandwich which looked incredible. read more

We were waiting for a place like Charkies in our suburban mecca for some time, and it finally came. This is the type of restaurant you can find on every other corner in the city, but can hardly be found in the suburbs. Being a foodie has been hard on this suburban transplant! So Charkies came to my rescue in one food genre. It's a Greek influenced fast food/diner, with Gyros, Philly Sandwiches, Hot Dogs and Burgers. Although I have been told that all of these are above par, it's the other options on the menu that have earned my rave reviews! Let's start with the 1/2 Greek Chicken. So good! I order it with the Greek Potatoes and Pita Bread, and it's enough food for at least 2 meals. The chicken is perfectly cooked and seasoned and the Greek Potatoes have a slightly lemony flavor that I love. Another top pick would be the Chicken Kabobs. They are the typical ensemble of chunks of chicken, red and green peppers and onion, served with pita bread and tzatziki sauce. Simple and delicious! I've also tried the vegetable pita, and it is also a winner. They also serve a complimentary bowl of their soup of the day with your order, and the serving is generous and also tasty. It's a nice atmosphere, if not a bit cold in the winter, it's clean and the staff is very friendly. I saw a few comments in other reviews about the price, but frankly, you get so much food for the money that it really seems extremely reasonable...in this reviewers opinion. We try to make a visit to Charkies at least once per month, although I think my husband may be visiting without me from time to time because they practically know him by name! I've tried just about every meal with friends and co-workers and the quality is absolutely second to no one. Dimly lit environment? Really? I've been to this place several times and I can't believe I forgot to write a follow-up review o,o . Anyway this place is pretty big and can host a lot of people. I always buy my food as carryout around 7-8pm and is never crowded. When I'm here I usually get a Philly Steak or Philly Chicken Sandwich w/ fries and drink. Sometimes I get my dad an Italian Beef Sandwich because he loves it. The food's taste is very good in my opinion. But I find it more as a fast food alternative than an actual restaurant. The level of food served here is better than fast food as everything is cooked like a restaurant (they have an actual kitchen). But the feeling I get from here is not much of a restaurant vibe. You can spend from $4 to $8 on a single food item + fries + drink. Combos will save you around a buck, I think. The food itself is American with one or two Greek items like Pita. So those of you looking for a restaurant experience, this ain't the place. To those of you who go to fast foods like McDonalds and Burger King, this place is the Healthier alternative since you get REAL FOOD and not filler food in the fast food restaurants! Can't say I'm a fan. I had a a pizza puff and a gyros. Neither one lived up to my expectations.

Very disappointed with the quality of food and service at Charkies. I like to give locally owned places like this more business, but I was very underwhelmed by the food and service here. The gyro meat was over-cooked and bland and the Tzaziki sauce was pasty. My daughter had the BBQ chicken and it tasted like it was made earlier in the day. The people waiting on us were not nice at all. We won't be returning here. read more
