The amount of meat on the sandwich is like three slices chopped, not enough to fill the base of the bread, compared to the advertised picture. There is more cheese than the meat. However, I take great offense that they call this (in their name, no less) a "Philly" cheesesteak sandwich. It is as far away from being a "Philly" cheesesteak sandwich as you can get and still have it made from steak, cheese, and a roll. For authenticity and the best tasting "Philly" cheesesteak sandwich, you still have to go up into Los Angeles to (a) 3347 feet east of Fairfax & Pico, or (b) a brick-and-mortar store in Koreatown across the street from what used to be the Ambassador hotel (RFK assassination site). I experienced the worst Philly cheesesteak in my life. The cheese was like chewing rubber. They used old hot dog bread for their sandwiches--it was not subbread. Aside from sandwiches; they also offer regular fries and gourmet fries; cheese, cheese and bacon or ultimate. They also offer different lemonades. Since it was my first time trying Charleys at Del Amo; I opted for Philly Cheesesteak. I wanted to go classic before venturing into some of the more unique flavors. When my order was placed on a tray and handed to me, there was a very long hair, about 4 inches long sitting on top of the cheese and sandwich. I politely reported the problem to an Asian lady who handed me my food. She immediately had my sandwich and fries replaced. There wasn't much of an apology and not too much empathy. I ordered a regular sized chicken Philly and a regular sized strawberry lemonade. The sandwich was delicious and fresh but by no means the best Philly cheese steak. I had to pick out some cucumbers and tomatoes because it was too thick for me to bite on. I didn't really enjoy having to pick out the falling ingredients because it made my hands smell greasy, so that is my deduction of one star. The strawberry lemonade was refreshing, but I do wonder about the sugar content. I didn't even bother checking. Sadly this was the worst sandwich/philly I've ever eaten. Perhaps the cheese steaks would havw actually been better but the Chicken California was absolutely terrible. The person who took my order was nice when I asked about drink refills (yes, they have them and they're free). As far as the food, the sandwich was fine and definitely nothing to write home too, and the fries were typical fries. It's mall food and that it what I expect it to be which is why I wasn't upset I wasn't blown away by the food. It is a little on the pricier side too (~$14 combo) As I was leaving the mall, I went up for a refill but ended up waiting a few minutes as two employees were about to change positions and rather than help the waiting customer (me), they felt it was better to have one log out of the register (same guy I thought was nice when he answered my refill question) and go on his break and the other to take over manning the register and completely overlook me. read more
