Phill's Best Cheesesteaks was a 10/10 for me. The steak was tender, flavorful, and perfectly cooked, but what really made the sandwich was the bread. It was soft on the inside with just the right structure on the outside, so it held everything together without getting soggy. Every bite was balanced and satisfying. I ordered a Philly Cheese Steak with pickles and although the size was decent, the meat tasted very salty like ground beef, not actually steak. Also the cheese to the meat ratio was definitely lacking. I was really looking forward to that sub and despite the fact that it did fill me up. Unfortunately every bite became more and more of a disappointment. With a name like Philly's Best, your restaurant can definitely do better in that department. Sometimes I drive here from San Pedro to get a cheesesteak they are legit and the mushroom cherry pepper steak sandwich is my favorite. My friend had the pizza steak and he absolutely freaked out and said it was the best he's had and he's lived in San Pedro his entire life he was pissed off that we had to drive to Torrance to get sandwiches. But sometimes driving for something just makes it taste better but when the quality and service is there it just makes it epic I've been back to this location about five times and I've never had anything negative to say about it. Not sure what I wanted when I crossed through the door but I knew I was hungry. After looking at the menu I chose the chicken parmesan sandwich. I noticed that the gentleman put something in the fryer, after a few moments I asked him if that was for my sandwich he said yes it was the chicken. I told him I misunderstood the menu, I thought sandwich would be Philly chicken cheesesteak style not a deep fried chicken Parm. He was so kind, he said we'll make it anyway you want, so the young lady with pretty braids grilled the chicken, added marinara and provolone just as I thought it would be. I went searching for a Philly cheesesteak while I was nearby at Costco. I found Philly's Best via Yelp and decided to give them a try. As I approached, I was concerned it was closed due to the construction in the front of the plaza. Thankfully, it was open. I went in and there were two other patrons inside. I perused the menu and placed my order with the friendly and attentive cashier, who also doubled up as the cook. I got the Philly with onions, mushrooms, and bell peppers. Everything tasted great and I was really impressed with this place overall. I enjoyed the laid back vibe of this place, as I felt I could enjoy my meal and relax without feeling rushed. Since my first visit, I have been back three times and don't plan to stop anytime soon. read more

It was hubby's idea to check out Philly's Best. I'm not a Philly cheese steak fan, so I wasn't excited about it. There was no greeting when we entered, and there were these handmade written signs throughout the place. "Uber pick up," "Do not throw away trays," etc.. they just took away from the professionalism of the restaurant. Hubby went ahead and ordered his Philly, and I went with a burger and fries since I'm not a fan of Philly. It was actually not bad. Good tasting burger and fries. Hubby seemed to have enjoyed his sandwich as well. What really grossed me out though was the soda fountain. While getting a soda, I noticed how gross and disgusting it was. Not only just the drain but even the top of the fountain. It immediately was a turnoff, and I decided not to even get a soda. They need to do a better job at cleaning. Three people were working that day, two girls and a guy who looked like he was either the manager or owner. One could've walked around to clean the fountain and even the tables. Cleanliness is crucial for me, and for that, we will not be coming back. It makes me question their cleanliness practices for the restaurant as a whole. read more

IDK if there's a new cook there or what, but when I got my Classic cheesesteak the slices of cheese were placed cold from the refrigerator on the bun and topped with the steak--WTH?? I tried to explain what was wrong and the cook did not speak English so I had to ask him to bring out the man who took my order. I sure hope everyone else didn't get their sandwich that way. As long as you're not expecting the world! This place is a good spot to stop in for a cheesesteak sandwich. The prices for fries are a bit overpriced. It's either they add more fries to the serving or knock off a dollar. I wouldn't recommend eating here. It's not dirty but it's quiet. There aren't many people here beside the workers. read more

I got here at 2 PM and the shop was completely empty. Everyone had masks on and my order was ready in 5 minutes; however, I asked for a mushroom cheesesteak and I got a regular cheesesteak instead. Menu: There are four categories - burgers ($3.50 to $4.99), hoagies ($7.99 each), chicken sandwiches ($6.99 to $8.99), and steak sandwiches ($7.99 to $9.98.) *** Cheese Steak (steak sandwich with melted white American cheese, $8.99 with grilled onion): The sandwich was pretty average - it felt like a sandwich you can easily make at home if you have the right tools. Let's just say my tummy wasn't 100% completely satisfied and had to get more snacks later. *** I just read some of recent Yelp reviews and apparently this location has a tendency of messing up customer's order (e.g. asking for no onion and then sandwich has onion, etc.), so just make sure to confirm your order by checking the receipt. 3-star on sandwich and bump down a star due to messing up my order. read more

Ambiance was ok... some tables did need cleaning but I found one that was clean enough to sit at. Thanks to National Cheesesteak Day last month; I got to try Philly's Best for the first time for just $5.99! They had a special coupon offering either the original or the chicken cheesesteak for $5.99. The original price is $7.99. Philly's offers a variety of different cheesesteaks. You can even get a little creative and cheesesteak without cheese or get cheesesteak fries. I went with the classic and my mom got the chicken on our first visit. First thing I did notice was there wasn't as much meat in there as I've seen at other sandwich shops. It was ok but definitely not packed. Flavorwise the chicken was ok; but the original steak was my preference. Steak was tender and full of flavor! It is a classic cheesesteak for sure. I do wish it had a little bit meat in the sandwich but overall sandwich was ok. The service was good and the folks were friendly. For my first time here I thought it as not too bad for celebrating National Cheesesteak Day :). read more

Cashier wearing a burka was so wrapped up in yak-yak-yak gossiping that she didn't notice a profane 1970s movie playing a jail rape scene on their TV. I told them. Was a touch pricey for the two of us but we both left very satisfied and glad we stopped there instead of L&L next door. If you're craving some philly cheese steaks, hit up this location. Within the plaza, it is hard to see at first since it's tucked away in the corner next to Subway and L&L Hawaiian BBQ. I ordered the Philly's Best and was pleasantly surprised by the tasty combination of Steak, Provolone Cheese, Sweet Peppers, and Mushrooms. The fries are crispy but leave a bad aftertaste because of the oil (I'm assuming the oil never gets changed). The cashier that assisted me was very nice; I believe his name was Parsa. Yay!! Finally a closer Philly's best. Back in the day one of our friends would drive all the way to Fountain Valley to get Philly cheesesteaks LOL. The good ole days. Always wondered if he had a dummy strapped into the passenger seat to get him in the carpool lane, but somehow he always made it there and back with the sandwiches still pretty warm lol. But looks like this one is near the costco in Torrance, near crenshaw and lomita blvd. The bad? it's right next to subway, sorry subway lol. Philly's best makes philly cheesesteaks with ingredients flown in from Philly. Even the dessert tastykakes are from philly i think. What you should get is their cheesesteak of course, made with sauteed peppers and onions, with the white american cheeze. I know some places use wiz, but i'm not into that, the white american cheese is da best! Get them with a side of crispy onion rings and ranch dressing so delicious! The hoagie bun is delicious as well, just everything melds together perfectly. The menu actually expanded a lot, they had other sandwiches like an italian sub type, which you should get with mayo/mustard and the oil/vinegar on the side so it doesn't get mushy. They even make burgers and things like that now too. But get what they're famous for, the best cheeseteaks in the area. Now whatya waiting for??? Go get some cheesesteaks lol. read more
