Fishermen's platter (shrimp, scallop, haddock, whole belly clam)
Lilian W.

This was a great place for a quick stop after a day at the beach! It was busy but the servers were great and attentive. Unfortunately they were out of utensils for some reason. We got a fisherman's platter dinner, a small scallops, and mozzarella sticks. It was plenty of food for the three of us and we had plenty of leftovers. Overall the seafood tasted fresh and delicious. The shrimp was massive, the scallops were so juicy, and the clams were whole belly, not just strips! The breading was a bit on the dry side and not seasoned much, so we had to use a lot of tartar sauce, ketchup, and occktail sauce for flavor.

It was busy on this school vacation day, even at 130pm. I posted my name and name and number in our party on the whiteboard in the entryway. We were seated after a short wait as they really husstled getting tables clean as people were leaving, very efficient and great teamwork. The tables were clean and the servers were friendly and very attentive. My granddaughter had her favorite chicken fingers. She said Charlies is the best, crisp and delicious. My daughter got a burger with sweet potato fries that she was very happy with. I got the coconut shrimp. They were crispy and absolutely yummy. I opted for onion rings instead of fries. They were perfect, crisp and not at all greasy.

Haddock chowder

Ate at Charlie's yesterday. Spouse and I  had a cup of haddock chowder and we split a fried clam dinner (which has gotten a little pricey at $35). But it was all excellent and worth the price. Oh yeah, the coffee was fresh and tasted good too.

Lobster bisque

This delicious and cozy spot is about 2 mins drive from Good Harbor Beach and has great parking! They offer take out for beach goers and indoor dining for everyone else! Their lobster bisque is very creamy and light! Also, (not picture) the fresh onion rings and sweet potato fries with ranch is delicious! The haddock sandwich and buffalo tender meal is great! Service and Waitresses are very pleasant and on top of service!

Highly recommended local spot. We had reservations since we are a big group. We waited for about 5 minutes at the bar since they were cleaning our table. Our server was very friendly. My son and I decided to share the 6 lb lobster with a side of asparagus. I was doing a happy dance when it arrived. So fresh and tasty. The rest of our party ordered French onion soup, clam chowder, lobster Mac n cheese, steak tips with truffle fries, lobsters (1.5 and 2 lbs), baked haddock, pan seared halibut, smash burger and fried clams. Everyone was satisfied and enjoyed their food. Generous serving size that everyone had leftovers. Highly recommend the place if you are ever in Gloucester. Till next time.

We went whale watching and then decided to have a local meal. My colleague chose this restaurant,…read morewhich is probably the highest-rated on Gloucester. It was incredibly crowded on Friday night, with wait times starting at half an hour, but the food was just average. Good restaurants are rare in small towns. 1.5 lb Steamed Lobster: The lobster was very cheap, only $32 for 1.5 lbs. It was relatively fresh, with firm meat and some paste, but not particularly plump, especially the claws, which were rather empty. Halibut Risotto: The halibut meat was coarse and tough. The risotto was cooked more like porridge than a firm, undercooked texture. Clam Chowder: Extremely salty. Truffle Fries: Quite ordinary. The fries were a bit cold, and it had black truffle and Parmesan cheese, but that was just about it. Pasta Chix Caesar Pesto: A seasonal dish, served to the kids at our table. The pesto had a strong raw nutty flavor, and the pasta was overcooked; no wonder the kids didn't like it, lol. Prickly Pear Spritz: It tasted like no alcohol, and no pear aroma; it was just like a glass of berry lemonade... and it was even served in a plastic cup--so unrefined!

Enjoyed the beautiful day, plenty of outdoor seating and seeing all the young baseball players and their families enjoying a meal! Drinks are inside at the bar, bathrooms could be cleaner haha. The food ran about $80 after lobster roll basket, clam chowder cup and two bottled drinks. Good amount of lobster, and picturesque for the amount on the plate. There was however no seasoning or flavor but some folks probably like the plain lobster itself. There wasn't much hot butter on our order, least none that we could really detect. Cooked well but super bland. The clam chowder was extremely watery and bland. Need like 3 packets of pepper and a packet of salt.. Everything else about the space, the view, the seating was great on a beautiful New England day! Staff taking your order at window was nice, pickup your food via buzzer at the further window!

They have tables in the back & to get there, you have to walk through this tiny alley way. Note: not many tables available. Be prepared to possibly share a table with others! Here's what we ordered from our visit: - boiled lobsters 1 1/4 lb (2)-- $18/ea - clam chowder (4)-- $7/ea - smoked salmon --$8 - hot lobster roll-- $32 - stuffed clam (2)--$3/ea - Coca Cola We decided to get the 1lb1/4 boiled lobsters. It was $18/each and we got two of them. Looking back, we probably should've just gotten the 3/$50 deal but it's okay. This comes with melted butter on the side. Lobsters were fresh & easy to eat. No complaints here. My favorite was the clam chowder! It had the perfect consistency, not runny & not too thick. It was also pretty flavorful! The only thing I would've liked to add is a little salt but other than that, very good. I'm a lover of New England Clam Chowder & this was exactly what I was looking for! Now, as for the smoked salmon, I would not order this again. I don't really know how to feel about this to be honest but it just was not my cup of tea. I like baked salmon, broiled salmon, and fried salmon, but I did not like this. Very dry & bland. I personally had the hot lobster roll, which was sautéed in butter. Not bad overall. It was not the best hot lobster roll I've had but it was serviceable. I didn't expect it to be so tiny haha. Seems like lobster rolls in general have shrunk. For the price & the size, it's not bad. I've had $50 lobster rolls that were the same size and less enjoyable, so I guess I can consider this one a win! I think next time, I will opt for a boiled lobster instead. Lastly, the stuffed clams were all right. They were okay; more stuffing than clams. The food also wasn't very hot, just warm cold. Overall, not a bad spot to hit up for some fresh seafood. Prices aren't too bad & the food is definitely fresh!

Nicely portioned, flaky piece of fish with fresh lettuce, tomato and thinly sliced onion. The fries were crisp, hot and salted perfectly. The tartar sauce was predictably if uneventful at best. The fried shrimp and fish n chips were cooked perfectly and portioned well. The ambiance was nice, decor is contemporary nautical, elegant and tasteful. As the crowd gathered, the noise level became unbearable. Couldn't hold a conversation without shouting across our tiny table. Our server was pulling double duty as bartender and handling two tables across from the bar which was unmanageable for one person. Service was slow... like really slow. 120 min for three fried entrees and one app. and we weren't in a rush but it took forever. I felt badly as they could have easily turned this table 2-3 times more than they did. Beer was cold. Ice water was aplenty. Food 7/10. Service was polite and friendly but slow as molasses. They need a full time bartender asap at least for weekend evenings when it's busier. For some added yet unexpected entertainment a rude senior was addressed by the manager for clanging his silverware on a glass for no reason other than to be rude and annoying while trying to get the attention of his server. This caused a bit of a stir because he raised his voice in disdain to being criticized for not acting appropriately. His childish tantrum was handled efficiently by the manager. She admirably suggested he leave the premises which would have been supported by the other patrons. Those present seemed to think an apology by this customer to the server for being disrespectful was in order but that didn't happen. Just an unfortunate event for an already struggling staff trying to shake things out at a newer business. The server didn't deserve this at all. I think they will be fine once all cylinders are firing.
