    12/22/2021 - very good chicken.

Somewhere on Route 44, you'll spot a building on an open field called Charlotte's, and what is it, a restaurant. In fact, a very good restaurant. It's not a hard place to miss while driving. This type of place is what you would not call just a walk-in restaurant, but instead, it requires a reservation. Many people use it for big events, holiday gatherings, and also anniversaries, etc. The atmosphere is very nice and there's plenty of room for seating. Private rooms are also provided for a plus to keep a party separated while everything is handled in a controlling manner. This is my second time coming here and the first was many years back. The food we had is fabulous despite the long wait, it's worth it. The menu is updated on an everyday basis, just a heads up. Service is always great. For any event, Charlotte's is the place to choose.

Mushroom Wellington - something different and good!

My partner and I enjoyed our al fresco dining at Charlotte's. Overall, we liked our food, but the team was definitely overwhelmed with the customer base, and the level of service was sub par. However, I am keeping the rating at 4 stars because they acknowledged the challenge and because of its nice setting. There are about 10-15 tables for outside dining. Trees block the area from the road, though you're right next to parked cars. Nonetheless, the landscaping and trees on the edges of the outdoor dining area are very pleasant. It took a bit of time to get our menus, but it gave us the time to take in the scene. The menu changes regularly. There were lots of enticing-sounding items. The spinach salad was great to split and very refreshing. I liked their use of vegetables in the dishes, and the presentation of our dishes was multi-faceted but thoughtful. Frankly, the service was so bad that we would have ordered another drink, a dessert, a coffee, etc., but we were so concerned about how long it would take to get any of these items, that we decided to forgo it. On top of it all, my husband had to go inside and ask for the check after we had waited about 20 minutes after finishing our dishes. They did comp my seltzer water, which was thoughtful but in some ways a bit minimal. It kind of had us scratching our heads. I did have to call twice to get a reservation, but no big deal. I'd recommend this spot if you're in the area. Don't be in any sort of rush.

Charlotte's was a great place with a lovely outdoor dining area and beautiful backdrop for dinner. The feeling is casual, but the setting makes you think of a relaxing summer evening. While the outside was beautiful, I am usually eaten alive by bugs and mosquitoes so we opted for the indoor dining, but the area with the open windows - we got the breeze and sun without the bugs. We additionally had the whole room to ourselves. Jenna was our server and she was great. We ordered the crab cakes, which won an award (they were good, but very small - 2 pieces for $16), we ordered the Ajax truffle fries, burrata salad, chicken pasta in a tomato sauce and 2 seafood crepes. We additionally got 2 key lime pie slices to go because we were very full, but that's always a good summer treat, especially being homemade. I absolutely LOVED the seafood crepe. I wasn't sure it would be so good, but it was creamy and jam packed with crab, lobster, and scallop. The black rice was great, the vegetables were plenty and varied - it was a great dish. I also got one of their special drinks (Caribbean punch?) which was nice, fruity and delicious. The truffle fries were seasoned well, the burrata was pretty good and went well with the bread. My husband really liked his chicken pasta dish too. The keylime slice was good, though very tart so for those who are not as big on that might not think it's so good, but I very much enjoyed the idea of much of the menu being homemade including things like ice cream. The meal overall was a little on the pricey side, but the service was great, the food was excellent and the ambiance was great. We had a very enjoyable meal and I would definitely come back here again!

Here's my second review: this is a beautifully decorated romantic, cozy restaurant with a bistro feel. Delicious food with classically generous portions. This is a lovely place for special occasions. They had a delicious vegan option of Tsao's cauliflower. Beautiful fresh vegetables always.

Went to Charlotte's for their event night- 3 course dinner and comedy show. $85 per person. The clam chowder was so flavorful I loved it. For the main I ordered the rib-eye medium and it was a little too pink for me but still okay. The tiramisu was delicious. Seating was community style so we sat with 2 other couples which caught me off guard at first but then ended up being fun. The comedy show was okay but I think the humor was aimed for an older crowd. Great service. Would recommend for a nice dinner.

It really couldn't have been any better! Amazing dinner ( seafood crepes) delicious wine, fireside seating, attentive staff. I even enjoyed the cozy and lovely furnished bathroom! This place has EVERYTHING. Definitely a romantic spot, but saw several adult groups also enjoying the atmosphere. A beautiful ride out to the country and away from the crowds.

This place was great, highly recommended. Menu was diverse and filled with ingredients of flavor for a lot of the main dishes and appetizers. I took a star because of a small wine list ( the Sauvignon Blanc was not good .. Rhodney something.. but everyone has a preference ) and the buratta wasn't very good .. as an Italian American small cut pieces of buratta isn't a go too. Other than that the food and decor of the place was different (check out pictures in men's restroom) and lovely (fall season ).

Cheerfully greeted by a nice person who was thrilled someone was trying her restaurant for the first time. Seemed it would be a pleasure! Banter! Joy! The location is adorable - an historic inn with lovely interior stone walls a nice bar, a dining room hung with farm implements and your usual skinny staircase and sunny porch. Absolutely thrilled by the continental and sometimes quirky selections (sweet and sour schnitzel? Why not!) Ordered quickly, letting the waitress know of time constraints. Half an hour later she brought the salad course. An hour after that, the manager or maître d' -- she never said but she did clearly have some authority and was the boss of the waitress--stopped by to inform the table that the delay was potato pancakes. The chef had apparently felt compelled to make a whole new batch of potato pancakes from scratch. And therefore it was our fault the food was taking so long. This would make sense if the table next to us wasn't also waiting twenty minutes for buffalo wings. And if our waters had been refilled. And if there were apologies rather than resigned excuses. The explanation landed like a desperate attempt at humor as the Titanic made a turn directly for the iceberg. No offer of even a comped cup of coffee, not a glass of wine, or even a sincere wish that things would go faster. We could do nothing but feel sorry for her and her staff in this wonderful little local inn and wonder who the monster was who is running the kitchen -- my beef stroganoff was terrific but the plate that made us late held a couple of small sausages, a large scoop of red cabbage and three jam-lid sized mashed potato fritters which could just as easily have been replaced by literally any starch... it was ninety minutes start to finish in this bizarre mystery of a restaurant. Was the chef on strike? Having a bad day? His front of house worked so very hard to cover for him. I have only sadness for this glorious little place - my favorite kind, locally owned, delicious dishes, deep pours. But I will only go back when I don't have a long drive ahead of me -- or perhaps for a laugh with people from the City who don't know how to slow down.

Here at Reservoir Inn in West Hurley, NY- just a few minutes away from Woodstock, you'll feel like you've stepped back in time with the stone walls, rural location feel, displayed antique farming tools and a serious, cozy cabin feel where you can almost unwind. All it's missing is a fireplace with a roaring fire to add a warm glow during dinner. Hubs went by the not-so-rave reviews- plus, it's close to home. What adds an odd charm, is right when you're finished with dinner and head to your car, the sky is pitch dark- especially now since it's getting darker earlier with nothing to your left or right. And the only sounds you'll hear are the hoot of an owl and the gentle swish of leaves. The best spot in the house is the buzzing dining room. But while the dining room may appear large- there are no tables in the middle space. At least 6-7(?) tables line the walls and the covered patio has another few tables- so a reservation is a must. From seafood to poultry to bratwurst to pasta to falafel, etc, Reservoir's international menu is a very nice one. As we were told by locals, Reservoir Inn has changed hands with a new chef who's bringing his culinary school background and upped the entire game here. Conversation was super friendly from our bartender Karen and our server. Hubs went for the prime rib- but asked for an unusual request: for it to be charred. Kudos to the chef who still kept the meat to medium and added that char request. My teriyaki shrimp and udon was beyond plentiful. The shrimp were juicy- but the teriyaki made the udon a bit salty. Obviously the regulars seem to be coming back from what we noticed. Every detail of Reservoir adds a mood of simplicity combined with the unexpected and comfort.

Even with a reservation, the Belvedere staff seemed unprepared and almost disappointed we showed for our late reservation. We waited an inordinate amount of time for a larger table to fit us was cleared, without anyone taking a drink order or doing much of anything. Drinks were small and watery. Things perked up with the best borscht we've tasted, although it's served warm not the traditional cold. The Caesar salad was huge and tasty but not sure why it's on a polish menu. The pierogis were just ordinary; light on filings and served with absolutely nothing else; they were also lukewarm. The Galumpki was more generous and tasty but the potato pancake with goulash was a complete miss. The pancake while large was over fried and acrid at the edges and you were hard pressed to find a decent chunk of beef or piece of carrot in the meager drizzle of goulash on top. $26.95 for this? The atmosphere was a bit sterile and didn't have that old world feel we were looking for; Miami vice and 80's music videos on the bar TV didn't help. We can't really recommend this spot to others.

Seating is first-come, first-served, and guests are placed based on availability, which keeps things fair and efficient even during busy times. The tables for two are intimate and cozy, perfect for conversation, though they can become a bit tight when ordering several dishes at once. That said, the staff was attentive and checked in often enough to clear plates and make room, which made the experience much more comfortable. The dessert menu is separate, allowing guests to enjoy their meal at an unhurried pace before deciding on something sweet. Their beverage offerings are thoughtfully presented. Herbal tea options include green tea, chamomile, and English tea (Stash), and the tea is served in a container that provides two full servings. The cappuccino is well made and served with a sugar crystal stick, adding a distinct old-world charm that enhances the café's European feel. I regret not asking for an additional order of Turkish coffee so that's a regret . What we ordered: * Greek Salad - $18.50 * Cappuccino - $6.80 * Herbal Tea - $6.00 * Uštipci - $17.25 * Musaka - $22.95 * Šnicla (Cutlet Sandwich) - $20.75 * 2 Diet Cokes - $8.00 The musaka is a baked dish and does take about 25 minutes to prepare, as it's made fresh with baked eggs, seasoned beef, and sliced potatoes layered on top. The wait is well worth it, resulting in a hearty, comforting dish that tastes authentically homemade. The Šnicla (cutlet sandwich) arrived beautifully presented on a wooden board, adding a rustic, elevated touch that matched the restaurant's aesthetic. Mom felt it lacked in seasoning but she Didnt leave any crumbs . The Uštipci were a standout--served with feta and honey, generously portioned, and so plentiful that we happily took some home. We were too full for dessert this time, but it's absolutely on the list for a return visit. Due to winter weather, we couldn't explore the back of the restaurant, but even from the main dining area, the decor is undeniably charming and full of character. Overall, Cafe Bubamara offers authentic flavors, generous portions, attentive service, and a cozy, old-world atmosphere that makes it a place worth revisiting.
