Charlotte's is my favorite restaurant in Millbrook! Tonight, in the aftermath of a snow storm, we sat by the fireplace in the cozy pub room. The beet salad was beautifully presented, and delicious. Whether you want to eat out or plan a big event, Charlotte's is the place to go! It has the perfect country setting nestled in Millbrook. The food is to die for and the service is right on point. We recently celebrated my father's 60th/Retirement and they were so accommodating. The service was impeccable. Everyone from the banquet manager to the head waitress to the busser and everyone in between was lovely. The food was phenomenal. Our guests are still talking about it. The presentation was exquisite. Sam was our head waitress (try to request her)! She made sure everyone was having a good time and that no drink went dry. We've been a few times now and it is always better than good. We go with big parties and short timeframes (usually in advance of a curtain), and the service is prompt, friendly, flawless. The wine list is really good, and the local options from Millbrook Winery are really decent. The food is excellent. We are fans. read more

Ambiance is five stars, food is 3 to 4 stars, service is 2-4 stars depending on who your server is and what time of day you go (if they are very busy, you may be waiting a while to get seated, get a cocktail, order, etc). I have eaten at Charlotte's at least four times in the last 3-4 years. I am totally sold on the beautiful interior (not to mention the picturesque setting outdoors) and love to go here whenever in the Millbrook area, but there is definitely some room for improvement here. With five star prices, they should be giving you five star service all around and though I seem to have lucked out with most everything I've ordered, some of my dinner companions have said their dishes weren't quite what they expected, particularly some of the meats - one of my guests said their meat was 'grisly' and another stated their salad was not only sparse, but that the dressing was really lacking in flavor. Last year they did a really nice summer barbecue which was nothing short of outstanding. Every time I've ordered something different and I really can't complain about the food, but again, with a restaurant being so pricey, they could be a little more attentive to their guests and not keep you waiting on another glass of wine or to take your order or seat you when you come in the door and there are plenty of open tables. read more

Our family celebration was wonderful at Charlotte's. The gardens are beautiful, the views are so peaceful. The food was outstanding from the canapes served in the gardens to the dinner served on the veranda overlooking the gardens. The service was attentive, the chef owner visited us through out the meal and we could not have asked for more. read more

Just ate here,Food was good, however the service was absolutely TERRIBLE. Appetizers came out then the bread, we weren't even half way through when our entrees came out. Normally not a big deal but when you are paying these prices you want things to be done the right way. We were there for 2.5 hours (only 2 people) it took so long. Very understaffed, and honestly the worst service I have ever received, the Cheesecake Factory has better service. I got my salad thrown in my hand while the waitress was walking away. No concern for their customers. They took our dessert away and it took 15 minutes for someone to even notice that we were done, got the check BUT NO we had to wait another 5 minutes to get the "tablet" and finally after that we could finally leave this horrible restaurant. Will never ever go back after this service I have received, and I urge you to just find another restaurant that will value you as a customer and provide you with adequate service. read more

Post Thanksgiving dinner here with family. There have been dramatic changes that have taken place here in the recent past and I am happy to report that it is all very positive. Menu has an imaginative offering, and food is well prepared with nice presentation. Wait staff was very good,attentive, prompt and accommodating. They showed genuine interest in making sure we had a pleasant dining experience. Decor and ambiance was good, reflecting an old rustic (do not read 'rustic' as in disrepair) country Inn, being warm and inviting. Have eaten here twice and enjoyed both times. Atmosphere is really comfy especially on a cold winter night with the fireplace roaring. Truffle fries are super delicious. Seafood crepes also good and farfalle with chicken and portobello very yummy. Homemade ice cream was delicious. Mixed drinks were not shaken enough or cold enough but otherwise tasty. Wine seemed expensive for the size glass. Only complaint is that the prices are indeed high for the quality of food - two people can easily spend $150 without blinking. Steak was a little fatty and calamari not the best I've ever had, but those are small gripes for what is overall a charming dining experience. Will definitely return, it's a lovely restaurant in the middle of nowhere and the place oozes rustic charm. read more

Okay, first of all, let me start by saying this is NOT a place to bring a big party of people, and do NOT expect flavors that are domestic. What you may think is rotten is really just imported cheese. So, here we go. Charlotte's is absolutely a fantastic place for a romantic meal. Small, cozy dining area, right by a fire with a neat bar as well. The service here isn't world-class, but is certainly attentive and trained enough to handle a full restaurant. Most times I come here I try something new, typically something more exotic than the regular filet mignon and the likes. I have never felt a meal had an unjust price and that the chef found great joy in preparing the meal, usually adding something with an artistic flare especially with sauces. Very large selection of wine from all over Europe as well. The chef, who I believe is Swedish, will actually come and chat with you if you order dessert, and it is a very friendly and enjoyable experience. Ok when we got there our table wasn't ready...but we did get there 10mins early and you can't help if people eat slow......so the waiter suggested we sit at the bar...soooo glad we did cause we got to meet Cindy who was very friendly and a very good bartender....when seated we were waited on by Daniel...very efficient...and very friendly...I was torn between two dishes and I asked him his favorite..glad i listened... Got the seafood crepe....YUUUUUUUMMMY....Hub got the Osso Bosso...WOW....then creme brulee...best ever....they knew it was our anniversary...got a free glass of champagne....got done sat at bar again...Cindy told us that the waiter under charged us...the owner was there so he said wait...and brought us his glog that he made and gave us it on the house...had so much fun talking to him and Cindy....we ended up being the last people in the place...we were there from 7-1015 and enjoyed every minute...oh they change their menu daily so it is like going to a new restaurant every time read more

Charlotte's is a lovely country restaurant, the food is delicious and the atmosphere relaxing. The outdoor garden in the summer is the best around! My children come along and can get up and take a walk around while we finish our dinner and coffee! it is a great place. read more

My wife and I visited Charlotte's for the first time on a recent cold Saturday night. The atmosphere was relaxing and rustic for this restaurant a few miles outside Millbrook , NY (the former Allyn's location). All aspects of our meal were delicious (lobster bisque, braised ribs and tenderloin entrees, delicious chocolate cake/raspberry dessert). Service was excellent. The prices were somewhat higher than other comparably nice restaurants in the area but if price is not your first concern, you won't go wrong dining here. read more

My fiance and I ate here on a Saturday evening in early June. We had a male server who seemed nice at first but was very slow, demanding another young man to do his work. I cannot remember his name but I sure wish I did. (Bright red hair and glasses) I wanted to tip the bus boy rather than the waiter. We had a drink at the bar first, which was really the only nice part of our visit to Charlotte's. The bartender Cassy. She was very sweet and she made excellent drinks. We enjoyed our conversations with her. She had to run to the back to get something for our drinks and I overheard the female owner, who introduced herself as Alicia, putting her down right around the corner in front of customers. The other customers even looked embarrassed for her. I tipped the her well for dealing with that woman. She acted professional and continued on with her work. She and one other female server were the only two who acted professional at all. When it came time for dinner, we moved to a table. We both ordered the angus burgers which were delicious. As I was trying to eat my food, Alicia came back. She was checking on the bartender's service, not worrying about the waiter who did a horrible job. Not only was I annoyed by her presence, but she wouldn't go away! I noticed that she did this to almost every table in the dining room. Another couple there that was sitting close by cracked a joke about her because they were being harassed as well. We were there to eat and have a romantic yet simple dinner, and she basically ruined it. The young male waiting on us asked us if we would like a cup of coffee, and we said yes. We waited 15 minutes watching him run around like a chicken with his head cut off as he forgot about us. All of a sudden here comes the BUS BOY with our coffee! I didn't feel comfortable leaving the waiter a tip when the other young man did all of his work. Michael, the chef, also introduced himself, Unlike Alicia, he was quick with conversation, made us giggle, and walked away WITHOUT bothering us. My last complaint was the temperature in the restaurant was HOT. My fiance and I were both sweating and uncomfortable. We asked about the air conditioner and they said they would adjust it but it didn't seem like it was any cooler. I wouldn't recommend this place for a romantic night out. Everything nice I heard about Charlotte's seemed to be untrue. No one wants to go out and be bothered, have horrible service, and watch the staff be demeaned by a mean old woman. I will say the wine list is excellent! So 2 stars goes to the wine, the burgers, and the bartender. I was told to request lacey as a server if I decided to go back, so I suggest you all do the same!
