I stumbled across this nail salon because it is open on Sunday's. Thinking back in retrospect, I should have gotten an idea of what I was getting myself into as I walked up the front door: the business name's letters were peeling off the front awning! Anyway, super strange place. I wasn't too comfortable here. The pedi was administered in a little hot room, I sat in a regular chair and was instructed to put my feet in a old sink looking basin. My feet and toes detected crates at the bottom, so I really felt that was weird. The mani experience wasn't much better! I was told to "lay down and relax" on this weird massage table. My arms were out and the woman started working on my nails. A giant hot water bag was placed on my stomach for relaxation at a certain point??? It was the strangest thing! I came here today to have manicure, I did not know that on Sunday you need to have appointment, BUT Karen and Ed welcomed me and my daughter. Karen took time on my nails, very professional, she took care of my nails and bonus, there is reflexology included so make sure when you come here alot extra half hour. This spot is SUCH a hidden gem. Karen is amazing. My nails always come out fabulous and last a long time. She really takes her time to make sure your nails come out perfect and if you have one of those stubborn tips that won't budge off she will so gently and slowly work to get it off rather than do a bandaid trick like most places. Moving on to the reflexology. When you go in for your nails, allot an extra half hour for the included reflexology that is just indescribable. You just have to experience it, and once you do, you'll be coming back for sure. read more

Bizarre, but good... I came here with my dad for a pedicure. To start the place is cozy and feels like someones home. I was taken into a divey room for my foot spa, then escorted to a massage bed. My foot spa was alright, but the fun started once I was on the massage bed. I'm just laying there wondering what the heck is going on when I'm given an eye sachet and pillow for under my legs. I think, Okay that's nice I guess... Then large bags of warm water gets placed on me and moved every few minutes to different parts. Under me, over me, on my legs lol. I see signs everywhere for $20 per 20 minutes of reflexology treatment. While all this strange stuff is happening to me I still manage to get my nails painted while I'm laying there. As the minutes fly by I can't help but realize I've been there well over 40 mins and I begin to fear they were giving us the $20 per 20 min treatment... After all said and done they only charged $25 for well over an hour of very interesting, but great service. It's for sure an experience and the service is just exceptional. Such a great experience, from the minute you your acknowledged and welcomed to the shop. I loved the heated water bag they provide on the lower back while receiving nail service. I had done gel manicure. My only con is that I wish my cuticles were done and that my nails were a bit crooked. I noticed in light outside after I had left. Wasn't terrible but I'm bit OCD. I loved the part after your done with the service they lay on this massage chair table and then start placing hot water bags all over. Then the massages come from your head, neck, and arms. I would definitely come back just to get the reflexology massages which was so nice. Over all I just wanted a fast gel manicure at a reasonable price. Finally my search has ended. I've been to many nail salons and have never liked any of them. I'd rather go to the dentist than get my nails done. But low and behold just a few short blocks from where I live I try Karen and Eddie's salon. What a pleasant and personal experience. They are husband and wife that not only work well together but are also very interested in their client. It is the first nail salon that actually talks to you and not about you. I felt very welcomed and they made my visit very relaxing. As a first time customer you receive a complimentary reflexology massage. They may not have all the bells and whistles that the other area salons offer but you have Karen and Eddie which the other salons don't have. Do your self a favor and give them a try. Went here for the first time today. It was amazing. Karen and Edy have the most cozy little place. Although untraditional as far as pedicure goes they definitely have something special here. I would say it's a hidden gem in Carlstadt. I live two towns away and will be back. For $30 my calluses were removed, beautiful polish, and at least 40 mins of reflexology techniques were used. I was very impressed and think they are undercharging. They are such kind people and the place was very clean and relaxing. Everyone should be going here. I was also impressed that they knew all the regular customers by name upon entering. They definitely care about keeping their customers and know how to do it. read more

It had a homey feel, but doesn't necessarily seem too clean. $30 for a pedicure which seems expensive until you realize you're getting a full reflexology treatment. Whole thing lasted about an hour and a half which was a bit too long for me. I loved how relaxed I felt but left a little sweaty, with an OKAY pedicure. I feel bad leaving this review as the lady who did my nails was very sweet, but honestly this is the worst manicure I've ever had. I couldn't go to my regular nail tech since she is on maternity leave so I found this place close to my work, thinking it would be great to go to on my break. I received a CND Shellac gel manicure. First, oddly, she soaked my nails in cold soapy water. Not warm.Then I noticed she did not prep my nails at all before applying the gel polish. Usually the nails are gently buffed and a primer solution similar to rubbing alcohol should be applied to ensure proper adhesion. I didn't want to seem rude by questioning her so I let that go. When she was all done I did not receive the usual hand massage or hot towel treatment that you get with most salons with a manicure. Also, the coats of polish seemed very thick. When I got back to work I noticed that one of my nails had some bubbling in the polish. I nudged it a bit and it completely lifted. I was actually able to peel it off in almost one piece. That should not happen with a gel manicure that is prepped properly and cured for the proper amount of time. On some fingers there was gel polish also on the skin near my cuticles which caused them to lift. I was actually able to peel off everything. This was all not even an hour after I got it done. It peeled off so easily, like regular nail polish. WIth the cost and tip I literally gave my $30 away. I'll never go back there ;( read more

Amazing is never a word I use to describe a nail salon. Most make you feel mildly uncomfortable and self conscious in my opinion. Fear not! This is your answer if you've ever felt like that! Eddy and Karin are consummate professionals. From the moment you walk into their cozy salon with its understated decor you can tell they are not some cheap $5.99 discount salon. They take their time.. First I was greeted and Karin spent time going over my nails and very nicely pointed out what the previous butcher had done to my nails (last place I went to was HORRIBLE! Only went there because they were open on Sunday and I was desperate. See New Eve Nails. After a very private and refreshing soak, Karin expertly clipped and filed away careful of the ingrown nail courtesy of the previous salon. She explained how I could alleviate the problem. I was then escorted to a massage bed where I was treated to a reflexology session. While Karen painted my toes. I left there feeling like a million dollars. There is a reason why they have such high ratings. It's not some high end snooty or ritzy glam salon. Just a down to earth, clean and lovely atmosphere. You never feel rushed or like a number. So I was in town for work and needed to get a pedicure. I went to 3 different place before this one and they were either closed or had a long wait. So I looked up on Yelp and saw charms and thought ok I'll try it. Well I walk in and I thought I was in the wrong place. There are no tables or pedicure stations it looks like someone's home. But a gentleman approached me and asked what I wanted and I told him a pedicure. They have a variety of colors so I picked it out and he brought me into a little room and I thought oh god where the hell am I. But a nice lady who I soon learned her name was Karen came in and started scrubbing me feet. They do not have the spa pedicure that I'm used to but it worked whatever it was. So after scrubbing me feet she told me she would finish up in the next room. I thought umm ok. Alright so I walk into the next room and there's a massage table that she tells me to get on and I'm thinking wtf. So I hop up there and the lady tells me to close my eyes. At this point I'm thinking they're going to drug me and steal my money and throw me in a back alley but it was nothing like that. Karen painted my nails while Ed (the guy) massaged my neck. Now this was probably the weirdest, funniest, most enjoyable experience of getting my nails done I've ever had in my life. I honestly thought it was a joke that this guy was massaging me like I was at the damn spa, but hell I'll take it. I couldn't stop laughing as they placed a hot water bag on my stomach and what I thought was a nut sac on my head but turned out to be some hot bean bags. Any ways he massaged my feet, legs, arms, neck, he even got a head scratcher out and took out my pony tail to massage my scalp. If you have at least an hour and a half to spare and want a good chuckle (because I had no idea what was going on) please go see these lovely people.
