    Early bird special prime rib

Dropped into chart house before flying out of Cincinnati. Early bird special was great value. Prime rib is delicious. Creme Brulee dessert was excellent. Service from Tara was awesome. The views from the window were breathtaking.

First, the ambiance of Chart House is unmatched. It was a cold evening and the restaurant was warm, cozy, and full of delicious smells. The breadbasket was a great way to start and was very good. We also had a crab cake, which was very tasty, but the presentation wasn't my favorite. It said roasted corn, but the corn was sort of sprinkled around the plate, and there were a lot of tomatoes. I'm not a big fan of tomatoes, but luckily I could eat the crab cake around them. For dinner, my husband had the filet mignon and mashed potatoes. The filet was perfect, though he seemed surprised by the sauce. It was good, but he normally doesn't like a sauce on his steak. The mashed potatoes had a nice flavor, but had huge chunks of unmashed and unflavored potato. I had really been looking forward to mashed potatoes, and I was disappointed in them. I ordered the shrimp linguine and was surprised by the dish I received. The shrimp were large but somewhat flavorless. The linguine was topped with feta and fried porcini. I must have missed the description on the menu, but I didn't enjoy the flavor. There were peas, which was fine, but they were so overcooked they had fallen apart, in addition to largely and roughly chopped herbs, which made me also not enjoy the texture of the dish. Our dessert was the mini chocolate lava cake, which was very good, and the mini was well-sized with a giant ice cream scoop and plenty for two people to share. Our server was so kind and understanding of me not enjoying my meal. I've never sent a dish back before and I was grateful she was so supportive of me having a great dining experience. We will give Chart House another try because of the atmosphere and excellent service.

We hit up Chart House in Newport for a quick happy hour--great drinks and apps at solid prices. But heads up, you have to sit at the bar to get the happy hour specials. Also be sure to check the HH times because they do vary by location - the Newport location ended at 7. The vibe is chill but classy, the service was fast and friendly and it was the perfect level of busy. Also, bonus points for the sizable free customer parking lot right on the river.

Was seated with a large party of 15 for a work dinner. Service was very slow for drinks, as there was one bartender for the entire dinner service. Food was slow to come out, but with a large party is to be expected. Quality of food was exceptional. Deserts very decedent and rich. Oysters fresh!

The service is amazing and the ambiance is hard to beat. The calamari is some of the best I've ever had even compared to Florida & Mexico restaurants. I got the cod with lobster risotto and I haven't stopped thinking about it since!

First of all the happy hour is insane. Great prices lots of food. Nothing over 12 dollars. Sunday through Friday We ordered from the dinner menu. New York strip for hubby. Herb crusted salmon is delicious. Their mashed potatoes garlicky and yummy. The pomegranate martini is the bomb We sat at the bar and the service was impressive and friendly. And of course the view is top notch.

Wow! What a very pleasant surprise. We arrived in the evening at the Fairfield inn directly Across the street from the chart house. It's a 30 second Walk! We were hungry having traveled several hours by airplane and we would have been happy with anything decent. To our surprise, the restaurant was beautiful inside, the view was fantastic and the food was superb. We thought about trying a different restaurant the following night but the Chart House was just too nice to not visit again. I can't say enough about this amazing gem. It was one the most unexpected pleasant part of our visit to Cincinnati. 5 Stars without a doubt! Thank you!!!!!

Totally forgot about Chart House as an option for seafood in Cincinnati. Reading the reviews and looking over the menu made my decision to give it a try. We arrived early evening on a Saturday. We had our choice of tables and of course chose to sit facing the riverfront. The service was friendly and attending. The manager even stopped by our table mid meal to check on things. Overall the restaurant was clean and offered great ambiance with the view of the river and passing boats. The wine list was fair with inflated prices. With that, I chose to stick with beer. We tried the oysters as a starter. They were chilled and served fresh and absolutely delicious! Probably my favorite part of the meal. The entrees were good and came out as ordered. I had the seared ahi tuna. I had it medium rare and now wished I had it prepared rare. It was still delicious. Overall we were pleased with the food and dining experience and I recommend it to try for yourself.

Went there for a birthday dinner. The ambiance is nice. Not too dark when the evening wore on. The experience reminds me of casual but fine dining in Paris. Paced meals to allow time to savor, unwind and talk with friends. I had the lobster and shrimp carbonara. Delicious!! Beautiful view of Cincinnati. On-site parking. Nice servers. I would definitely eat here again.

The entree that brought us back; Ahi tuna

The Chart House isn't what it once was. We've gone there occasionally since 1990. On this visit: no more valet parking. Long waits for our glasses of wine (no wine available by the bottle) after being seated, and again during our meal. $18 servings of white wine not properly chilled (or maybe because it was transferred to a warm decanter first). $330 tab (including a $50 tip) for two. Not a good experience or a good value. We love fine dining, and we're happy to pay for excellent food and service. We'll not be back.

Happy hour has deals on both food and drink (as all good happy hours should) and includes oysters. Overall, prices are super fair because the portions are huge and most things come with a side or two. The jambalaya is worth bringing home if you don't have room and the cornbread is moist even the next day. We accidentally got a table for six and had eight show up and they just let us pull up a couple chairs and get in their way but acted like it was no big deal. Get there early because it fills up quick, including the parking lot. It's an old-school restaurant and the decor fits. It's got corny signs, tables made out of wine barrels and a fireplace in the corner. There is outside seating that I haven't sat at (I mean it overlooks a parking lot and there is usually someone smoking but at least it's there). There is a grumpy but capable bartender and young people working the host/ess stand who greet you cheerily and always say goodbye on the way out. Swampwater is right next to the Riverside Antique Mall, so make it a day and do some shopping beforehand. Both are more than worth the visit.

The menu has juuuust the right amount of options, which is great! Heather was our waitress & while she was kind, her service skills were lacking. Granted we weren't at a Michelin Star Restaurant, but we also weren't at a dive bar. There was an endless amount of awkward reaching through, over & around when refilling drinks. There were a couple of instances where she actually touched our shoulders to nudge us to the side so she could reach through. Totally not okay during service at a restaurant nicer than a dive bar. We ordered the cheese sticks starter which were so yummy! Highly recommend! A couple of us ordered the Cesar side salad & were highly disappointed. The dressing tasted like it was mayonnaise heavy & then watered down by lettuce that wasn't dried after being rinsed. Even adding tons of extra pepper didn't help. The lettuce also tasted like it has been too wet for too long. The lobster mac was ordered in the group & it was tasty but soooo greasy. So, order with caution. We had the Black N Bleu salad in the group & that was good. The Atlantic Salmon was another dinner ordered & the crust seasoning was delicious! Sadly, the salmon was a bit overdone. It does come with a lobster cream sauce, which confused me. It was only so so & I definitely skipped it entirely. The steamed broccoli was done to perfection though. Not soggy & not too crunchy. We also had the 12oz ribeye & that was great! Flavorful, cooked perfectly! I will add though, that the steak knives need an upgrade. I really wanted to love this place, but we won't return on our next trip to Newport/Cincinnati.
