Absolutely disgusting service. We were treated with racism for asking a simple question. We asked about the tax, and the awful server replied "We have tax here in California, hun" in a tone suggesting that she was somehow above us just because we're Asian, as if we haven't lived in California for years! Had dinner there this evening (June 19, 2026). The wait staff was great.. but the food was way too expensive for what you get. My granddaughter had the $26.00 hamburger with fries, my advice is to stick to the burger if you are going to eat there. My $55 Rockfish dinner meal was mostly brown rice, which was luke warm, 3 spears of asparagus and then a piece of rockfish perched on top of a plate of brown rice. Came to Cresent City to go to the beach and then decided to come here to get some fish and chips. Great place to eat by the ocean. Just watch the surfers do their thing or if your lucky....you can see the sea lions chilling on the rocks. Inside, this place has all the nautical decor that was expected. Clean, open and inviting. We were greated by a super friendly lady and she told us we could sit anywhere. She gave us our menus and we ordered some fish and chips with a side bowl of chowder. The chowder came right away. It was warm and a bit on the bland side. More like a potatoe chowder. 10 minutes later the fish and chips were served. Fast service! The fish and chips were hot and fresh. They tasted great being beer battered. A little on the greasy side, but still really good. The cole slaw was fresh and crunchy but a bit bland also, but not awful. A lot of older people were eating here so I'm guessing they don't spice things up for the older crowd maybe? We were pleasantly surprised with the wonderful meal and service we experienced at Chart Room. Our server was so friendly and attentive. The food was outstanding! They had a decent amount of vegetarian items, and the veggie melt in particular was seasoned perfectly. My father-in-law was raving about the clam chowder, which came in a massive bowl and was shared by three people as an appetizer. Make sure to request a seat with a view of the water! We had clam chowder, and fish and chips. The CLAIM CHOWDER WAS AWFUL! It was a huge bowl of white gravy with overcooked potatoes giving it a gritty texture and tiny miniscule bits of clams and nothing else. See photo. My husband and I visited yesterday, and they were getting busy as we walked in. But the service was so fast and amazing. We ordered and it felt like only 5 minutes later we got our food! I'm from Southern Oregon but my husband is not, so whenever we visit my family we look forward to a coast trip to eat good seafood. And it did not disappoint! The food was so tasty and fresh. Prices are a little high but you really get so much food for what you pay and it's perfect. Just outside there were seals and the restaurant is on a peninsula or pier in the harbor. Overpriced fried food. I got the clam strips, big mistake. I didn't eat half of what they call fried clam strips, and was more like overcooked, dried little bits and pieces of mostly just breading, honestly no clam taste at all. When I asked, waitress said,"yes, they are brought in frozen, breaded". Along with some frozen fries, and totally tasteless cole slaw, all this for a hefty $22. What a waste. My husband and sister had fish and chips, they said fish was just okay, but also hated the slaw. A seafood restaurant, in a fishing marina, and the fish was "just okay". Frozen fries, typical but blah. IF the waitress or the cashier had actually asked us how our meal was, we would have been honest, but no one ever asked, not once! Our 3 meals with two sodas, with a 15% tip out the door was $91 dollars. What an expensive disappointment. Don't go here, and Fishermans's is no better, both are just tourist traps. read more

My husband, brother, his girlfriend and I were in the area on a road trip. We were craving seafood, so decided to give Chart Room a try. The service was fantastic. Our waitress was kind, personable, and accomodating. She even invited us to come back for breakfast the next morning. The restaurant was quiet and pleasant. It had a little gift shop attached to it. We ordered fish and chips, fried shrimp, fries, and clam chowder. The batter on the fish was great. And the tartar sauce and ranch for dipping were both great. The fried shrimp, the fries, and the fish itself were all a little bland. I would eat here again if I was in the area, but would not go out of my way to do so. read more

We have been to this restaurant a few times and the food was good. However, today we didn't even wait to be seated. The cashier at the desk didn't even acknowledge we were there. She was cashing out a customer so we waited to the side. She completed their transaction and the left. She proceeded to open a roll of coins, sort some paperwork and then started to straighten the menus without even making eye contact with us. We then proceeded to ask her the process for checking in and she was unwelcoming and it was if we were a bother. We decided to go elsewhere and ended up having a delicious meal in a warm and friendly environment. Still a very good restaurant with great view and decent meals. Excellent beer and reasonable pricing. The kitchen churns out good fried foods and some excellent grilled fish dish. I enjoy the views of the calm harbor and numerous lazy Sea Lions and occasional Harbor Seals going in and out of the ocean. During the Dungenes Crab season you can actually have one of the best Crab Louie Salad. The summer brings many tourists. I miss their Sushi service at the southwest corner of this huge restaurant. Now I enjoy their grilled seafood combo, fish tacos and Shrimp Cocktail! They serve all kinds of seafood and grilled foods. Overall solid four stars. Due to the busy season of resurgent tourists the service and wait can be a little long. Wait staffs are very friendly. read more

The wait took forever yesterday because the hostess forgot we were waiting, and was seating people who came in after us left and right. We found a spot in the spacious parking lot next to the Crescent City Harbor... got out of the car... oh wait!! What are these creatures sunbathing under a sunshiny but windy February... sea lions! There must've been 50-75 of them just lazing around on the harbor and sidewalk by the restaurant. I was intrigued seeing them up close. They are noisy, loud and stinky. LoL! We finally walked inside the restaurant after 10 mins. Lots of people waiting to be seated so we had a bit of a wait. We were called and seated after 30 mins. We ended up with a window seat and a lovely view of the water watching the harbor sea lions. We ordered Fish & Chips and clam chowder New England style bread bowl. The fish and chips was enough to feed the both of us, a heaping plate full of beer battered wild pacific cod, crispy fries and perfectly done cole slaw ($15.50). A bowl of delicious clam chowder started us off. Great service, the staff was busy running around and did a great job taking care of our dining needs including our glasses of water never empty. Great place to get your seafood lunch, right off 101 and delicious. We both loved our grilled tuna sandwiches, perfectly presented for a cafe. The tuna was fresh, expertly grilled and served with prime avocado and tomato on toast. We bought some fresh yellowtail for the cooler. It was also excellent. Easy on and off from 101. Enjoyed a nice glass of Oregon Merlot since they were out of White Zinfandel. My husband loved the shrimp and my seafood combo came with scallops, shrimp, cod and clam strips. It was very fresh and cooked perfectly. We tried to order the Blackberry cobbler but they were out so they said to come back before lunch the next day and we could have first pick! I love the Chart Room so much! The food there is so delicious! Of course I always get the fish and chips, yum! And my husband love the fried clams. We enjoy sitting by the window watching the sea lions. But I recommend getting there early so you can get those window seats! It's also fun to look at the sea lions after you eat outside. She had fish tacos, one of her favorite meals, and she thought they were pretty good. I had fish and chips, with clam chowder for a starter. The chowder was very tasty and thick, but tasted of flour. The fish had an option to be pan seared rather than deep fried, so I went for that. The fish portion was generous, but the fish was oddly tasteless. We shared a rice pilaf, which was very salty. Worst clam chowder ever, I was able to eat it with a fork, and it was more like thin mash potatoes. Ordered a side of garlic toast with it and only one side of the bread was toasted with no garlic flavor just melted butter if you can call it that thick cold bread. I took two bites and gave it back; the server tried to tell me it was good chowder and that is how it is done at The Chart Room. I have had chowder up and down the west coast. some of the best in Monterey wharf. Anyway, huge disappointment, she still charged me for the cold dry bread. I had a cup of clam chowder, which was very good and did not have any potatoes in it, which is a good thing. Where I come from, potatoes do not belong in clam chowder! We both enjoyed the seafood sampler, which included cod, shrimp and scallops with a side of tartar sauce and cocktail sauce. The fries were hot and crispy. The coleslaw was homemade and ok. It could use a little horse radish to pep it up. This restaurant is on the water and has fantastic views of Crescent Bay and the lighthouse. It also has its own sealife menagerie of very loud, fat, boisterous, and rather smelly sea lions. Prices are typical of seafood restaurants, so plan on spending at least $25 per person. read more
