Hi! This is my first time ever posting on Yelp but I'm doing it because I feel so taken advantage of. I ordered the Lobster BLT . It was good but I was shocked when the bill came and it was $35!! I get it, it had lobster but $35?! I felt super taken advantage of. I should have asked the price since it was a listed at market price. Based on the other restaurants in the area and other sandwiches I had I expected 15-20. I feel like this restaurant takes advantage of tourist. Service was okay. My husband and I had the most expensive lunch at $79 dollars plus tip. I wish I could also say it was the best food and worth it. I can only give 2 stars read more

- Decent prices/ food could be better almost anywhere ( my wrap had a ton of dressing eww) - We had to ask for our appetizer bc it never came - Waitress was new and nice but not looking to please her supervisor was rude and unaccommodating - They DO NOT have a KIDS MENU! Great local place with good home cooking. Has many gluten free options including seafood stews and soups, salads, and sweet potato fries. For those who eat gluten, lots of great options and desserts. Friendly service, full service bar, highly recommend. read more

If you are looking for something fried that is hard to mess up this could be the place. Stopped in for lunch with a lobster roll that was chewy with the main ingredient being mayo (maybe even over lobster). We also got a chicken burger which was a chicken breast boiled to rubber then cooked on a grill for some color... With iceberg lettuce and tasteless tomato on a bun with lukewarm soggy fries. Maybe it was an off meal but we expected better for a place that wasn't busy. Nice people but food was incredibly bland. Reminds me of the place I would go with an elderly family member that isn't into flavor (spices, seasoning, texture, etc). read more

Hard to believe a place in Maine that advertises seafood does NOT carry whole lobsters, but this place is it. The clam chowder I had contained an oily substance floating on the surface and would have lost a tasting contest to a can of Campbell's. It was inedible. My girlfriend's lobster pesto was rubbery, the cole slaw was pulverized into baby food. My son's sautéed shrimp was fairly tasteless, and he was sick to his stomach an hour later. My fried clams were nothing special, nor was my daughter's fried shrimp. Your choices are limited in Winter Harbor, and this place means you are even more limited. It's awful. And for the money I paid, I deserved better food. The service was good, but if the food is this bad, what difference does it make? read more

Very nice and friendly service and help with the menu. Not sure what to try so we went with, blueberry pancakes and Maine maple syrup with ham, corned beef hash with poached eggs and a side of bacon. Try to sample a bit of everything... I did eyeball the stuffed French toast, next time. As this was a takeaway order ,everything was still hot after a 7 mile drive! all the food was very good, but they did forget the syrup...but the pancakes did not need syrup as they are awesome! Next time we will eat there. The place was very clean with a bit of mid century modern appeal. read more

As we walked in we (party of 6) were told by the waiter he would seat us and be with us in a bit "I'm training someone". Once seated he was right took a while to get the drinks and our order placed. As food arrived (with an additional plate no one orders) it was indeed a quality meal. Meaty clam chowder and a good sized lobster roll all tasted really good. Over all all the food that we got was really good and the service very polite but needs some attention to detail. read more

If you must come to Chase's - ORDER THE FRIED CLAMS. Bypass all the other bland, margarine laden seafood entrees (including the dull milky stew - dare i say it), and just ORDER THE FRIED CLAMS. Seriously, aside from the clams, we had a straightforward mediocre experience, but it has a certain family restaurant quaint appeal if you're into canned vegetables and the like. read more

What a lucky find. When we thought there would be minimal choices. We found a gem of a place with a darling owner with a great American success story Talk about following your dream. But that's another review. We had a great lunch I had the margarita. It was the best cocktail I had in Maine. My boyfriend had a refreshing IPA. Their menu was so enticing. Everything looked great. But we are watching our diet So I had the wedge salad and my boyfriend had the mixed green salad they did not disappoint. Please try this delightful restaurant you'll love it read more

Very cute place, convenient to stop at on your way in or out of Schoodic. The fried whole belly clams are delicious, as are the fries. The chicken tenders are crispy, and also very tasty. Service was excellent, looking forward to visiting again! read more

Went here because of location and rating. Service and food both were mediocre at best. The portions we're good with fish and chips, stews, and fish wrap however when my waitress took my drink order they we're out of an specialty item and she also got my order wrong. Desperation drove me here today, and I feel that it is the only reason to come here. After a hike, a few friends and I wanted to go to the Pickled Wrinkled for lunch but they were flooded after the rain yesterday. Starving, we searched for anywhere to eat, including gas station pizza. Unfortunately, the gas station pizza may have been a better idea. For one, there was only 1 worker bussing all the tables so we weren't seated for quite some time. There was only 2 vegetarian options for entrees, both of which were salads, so that's what I got. However, my blueberry vinaigrette took the form of ranch dressing :( I was also met with a disappointingly small amount of lettuce in my salad. My water came without a straw and after asking twice, I never received one. If not for nothing, the other people eating with me enjoyed their fish and chips and Turkey Ruben. The "blueberry vinaigrette"/ranch was probably the funniest part. All in all, I got fed. read more

This is your mom and pop type style restaurant it's a hit or miss if it is open or closed. I still have yet to figure the hours out. I think this is geared more towards the locals not anyone from out of town. There staff is rough and sometimes it's been dirty in the restaurant and don't use the bathrooms. The food can be good I was told it depends on who is cooking ... I find that odd. I have had some good meals here and some not so great. Definitely should try it If you want a local experience. read more

Outstanding corned beef for breakfast. Cooked just right. The blueberry pancakes were awesome. Be sure and splurge for Maine maple syrup. We stopped here because it was the only place we found but we are sure glad we did. Delicious lobster roll and my husband had the Stack burger and couldn't stop raving about it. It comes with extra onion strings that I stole from hubby's plate. Yummy! Didn't really have room for the snickers torte but I'm glad I forced myself. My friend and I stopped for lunch at Chase's on our way down to Schoodic Point and had a great experience. Warm, friendly, diner atmosphere with solid lunch and even solid-er dessert. I enjoyed a savory fish burger and my friend had a black bean burger and salad. We finished off our meal with some delicious blueberry pie, which I highly recommend. Our waitress was very attentive despite being the only hand on deck during a surge of guests around lunch time. Well done, Chase's. read more

I'm sorry that I have to give this restaurant EVEN ONE STAR. It deserves NONE. I've taken friends and family to Chase's for more than 30 years, usually after visiting Schoodic Point or Works of Hand in Winter Harbor. It has always been a challenge to eat there, since the small restaurant is always understaffed. However, last week's dining experience was the worst ever, and I am joining many others in swearing never to go there again. My friend and I sat down in one of six booths (there were about six other people eating at tables when we came in); four booths were empty and one had a couple in it, eating an early dinner, It was around 5:30pm on a weekday. It took 10 minutes before the one waiter paid attention to us and we ordered drinks. By the time we got our drinks, a family of four and a group of three settled into two other booths. A (very nice) woman working in the kitchen came out and pointed to us, as if to say that we had been waiting for him to take our orders. She came over to take our order (lobster salad and clam chowder) and the waiter took the other folks' orders. Ten minutes later, the others were served (complicated orders- pasta, etc). Twenty minutes later, still no food. I spotted the woman and told her that we just couldn't wait any longer and if we didn't get our food in the next 5 minutes that we would have to leave. Our meals were delivered in the next five minutes in styrofoam boxes. The chowder was cold. We hadn't asked for to-go containers and were kind of stunned. I went to the counter to pay the waiter and told him how unhappy we were, but he did not apologize. Instead, he told me that even though we had arrived well ahead of the other customers, that our orders had not been taken before the others'. Well, why? "We're understaffed." "Yes, I can see that, but that still doesn't make it OK. - we were treated shabbily. Instead of making excuses, maybe we should get an apology." No apology, just more insolent guff and a shrug of the shoulders. I finally said, "This makes me never want to come back ever again." The waiter flounced into the kitchen, yelling as he disappeared, "Then DON'T!" Guess what? We WON'T! read more

Great food in a low-key eatery. Try the seafood stew. It might seem a little expensive but you'll figure out why when they bring you the bowl absolutely stuffed full of fresh local shrimp, whole clams, scallops and haddock. Fried seafood rolls (shrimp, whole clams or scallops) are a good value and delicious. read more

I've been going to Chase's since I was a little kid. Everything is reasonably priced, and I've never had something I didn't like. The blueberry pie is DELICIOUS and the fish sandwich is pretty good. read more

I'm back in Winter Harbor for a visit early in the season. Yeah, it's chilly! I was accused of only writing negative reviews by another restaurant located here so I thought it appropriate to talk about Chase's where I just had dinner. Yes, it's open! If you want a local spot with a big menu and consistenly good food, this is the place. Their fried seafood is particularly good. I had a seafood combo of fried clams and shrimp and it was delicious. The portion was huge. The garlic smashed potatoes and cole slaw also great. Since they had pecan pie and pecan is my favorite, I took a shot and ordered it. Pecan pie is tough to make well and I've have lousy pecan pie all to often. At Chase's it is a winner; wonderful flavor and texture. Our waitress could not have been nicer. Chase's is the kind of place you come back to over and over. It's a casual spot and I've never had anything I didn't like. read more

I have never had to send food back to the kitchen, but I had to send back the fish chowder today. It was completely tasteless, watery, had an odd taste that I could not describe and was over loaded with potatoes. For a good downeast, coastal restaurant I was sorely disappointed. It was an embarassing situation since the restaurant is very popular, was crowded and the waitress, of course, had to say quite loudly that the chef had just made a fresh batch. Perhaps she could have tasted it too. While she was quite willing to replace the chowder with something else, and removed the item from our bill, I was so totally turned off by the taste and could not eat anything else. I am sure this was a secluded incident as everyone around us seemed happy and content. The onion rings, on the other hand, were great! read more

We had lunch for four on a weekday and were pleasantly surprised by this place. Everything we ordered was great: the stack, which was a burger with fried onion rings on it and fries on the side; fried haddock sandwich with cole slaw; a special, which was roasted shrimp corn chowder with grilled cheese and bacon sandwich; and blueberry pie. Huge portions for the burger. The blueberry pie was delicious--a perfect blend of savory crust and fresh Maine wild blueberry filling, and not too sweet. Service was very friendly and prompt. In town on vacation and a local told us we had to go here. It was just average; kind of a let down. I had a turkey bacon wrap with fries and my husband has fried haddock. Nothing seemed fresh, more like any fast good place I can eat anywhere. We will not be going back. read more

This place serves delicious food, made to order and priced very reasonably. Tonight we had grilled haddock, fresh as can be. Plus the wait staff is friendly and personable. Dinner this evening. Clam chowder was so,so. It was written to be thin and creamy. Really wasn't and lacked clams compared to the same priced chowders in other local restaurants. I had sautéed scallops which while good arrived warm. His stuffed haddock the same. Baked potato was good. Poor waiter was by himself and amazingly he was doing a great job. Price was a little on the pricey side for what we got. Probably our only visit. read more

The blueberry muffin we had was to die for - grilled after being split in half and brushed with butter! Very reasonable prices and the one woman waiting on everyone in the entire restaurant was a rock star! Locals were here and it seems like a place we'd frequent if we lived in the area. Diner breakfasts - nothing crazy, but freshly made just how you want it. The breakfast potatoes were fresh and good. Everything we wanted in a brunch stop. read more
