I was very much pleased with the sense of home I received while eating here. It is truly a family oriented and cozy place to dine, with no doubt. The avocado salad dish (appetizer) was, as is clear in the pic I shared here, superb and utterly fresh as can possibly be. I gobbled it up with ease, but in terms of what was coming, it was only a tease. I've come to learn that cutting corners in the restaurant field becomes clearly evident in the servings/product but you wont catch that happening at De Captained. You are given large servings of fresh and quality food which is continuously served to you. All the while, I remained entertained by light music and friendly conversation with a local waiter, and the (rather boring) date I brought. I enjoyed the lamb kebob and reminisced as I was having my lunch, as to how it is very much as good as similar dishes I've had while visiting the Mediterranean abroad. Jessica, my date tried the Escargot and mentioned it is among the finest she ever had. She comes from an aristocratic family and so I thought that a little hard to find - being that she's probably been fed it since in diapers - but she insists "The Best I've Ever Had" My kebab was grilled to perfection and was super tasty. It did not need any spices or salt as the chef did a great job of spicing it up ready to be swallowed by a starving patron like myself. Overall I am very happy with my choice to come for lunch here, however, I had to give Jessica the boot as she never offered to split or chip in on the bill, which I find unacceptable. I stopped by Chateau De Capitaine with several coworkers on Friday to have a lunch. It is very beautiful, modern and elegant place, the atmosphere is stunning, great lighting with some ocean feeling decorations. We got the octopus salad, which was the best part of the lunch. Fried calamari - delicious ! Doesn't feel oily or heavily fried and the seasoning in the batter was divine. That dipping sauce was very good. Not sure what it was but it complemented well. The food was fantastic, as was the service and the portion sizes were great! The menu is very well priced given the high quality cuisine. Most of the reviews are capturing this outstanding experience in words and photography, so I am not going to bother with a half-hearted attempt. I will just say, is that this experience was worth every penny. I guess this is now my favourite place. I 've been here several times and i have never been disappointed. My friends and I had shared everything what was ordered. We had seabass with polenta, scallops with risotto, beef lanquet, lanqustines, kumamoto oysters, baked rockfeller oysters, goose liver, turbot fish, mix fish tartars, lamb chops. Everything was amazing! Our waiter told us that the secret of such a great taste was not only because of skills of chef but also because all the products for food are delivered every day in the morning right from the JFK! When we came 2nd time the owner approached to us and asked about food. We found him as a very nice person. This place is like all the places in the area, horrible. From service to food, this place deserves a one-star review. The food is made from a box, reheated, and takes forever. Russians trying to do any cuisine other than their own fail on multiple levels. Any 5-star reviews are people who have long waved good-bye to their palettes, though in reality had none to begin with! The food is horrific and based on the sickness my sister and I experienced, improperly stored. The service is abysmal, but certainly reflects what you will expect, they are clearly fans of foreshadowing. The icing is a moronic manager who deserves a slap and the cops called on him for his rude demeanor to the staff (poor, poor waitstaff) and clientele. Pros: calamari was so crispy and soft in the middle there oyster so good, thats all we had the whole night oysters and beer service was so kind and attentive never left our side never an empty glass. The manager was so great with our kids, he bought them candy toys the whole night he was like a babysitter for our 3 kids. I've worked in restaurant when I was younger like many kids the growing days of being younger you learn the difference between a great restaurant and a bad one. With that said being older you learn to appreciate a great restaurant, this one takes the cake everything my fork touched was so pleasant and amazing. I have to disagree with what the other costumer said about the oysters Chateau always has the freshest products. God forbid poisoned by oysters it does not take 30 hour like you said, symptoms happens same day. Never in my entire life have I experienced a situation like this. Sitting for my mothers birthday having placed an order for the main course along with 10 other family members. After waiting for an hour for the food we were approached by the waitress telling us that the kitchen had lost the ticket for the food order. We had to wait almost an hour and a half for the main course to come out. Un. F***ing. Real. Zero concessions. That is the most unprofessional ridiculous thing I have ever heard of. Had the pleasure of being invited here for an event, and even though this was my first time here once I arrived I was given the attention as if I had been a client for years. Immediately given a glass of rose' and offered anything for food with no mention of why I was there or asking if I was joining anyone. After the event began it was more of the same. So this is my second review that I'm leaving for this place. I was amazed the first time. Decided to give them a chance even though their prices might be a little bit higher than normal it is worth every penny. I started celebrating all my birthday , including my grandfathers 80th birthday. Driving by this beautiful seafood restaurant everyday to work couldn't help but come in with my wife, inside amazing looks like a big fish tank so welcoming from the start, the waiters manager all came up with a smile so welcoming and warm seemed very family oriented. Ordered tuna tartar, salmon lotus, beef tartar, smoked fish with was made there, there pickled vegetables with vodka what a pairing. Me and my farther stopped off in this restaurant after work one day and we're truly amazed by the service and the excellent food we were served upon. As my farther ordered the Sea food platter which was delicious and extremely fulling and I ordering a great tasty juicy sea bass.
